I was just curious to know the thoughts of members here on social security and retirement in the U.S.
The baby boomers have really hit it hard. So now my mother will have to be 75 to get social security like her mother is right now.
I hope I can retire around 60. But really the retirement age should be around 50-60. Look at other countries. I think this is the only high income country which requires you work til you drop.
Thoughts?
What year were you born in.. currently, according to the SSA, the oldest age of receiving SS benefits is 67, the earliest with a reduction is 62 (30% reduction).

Yeah, but they're going to push the age further back. That's what my American Government teacher told us. My generation will be ancient by the time we get social security, that is if it still exists.

gonna have to go with black wolf on this one.as much as i hate to admit it i am 40 yoa.i really dont see any s.s benefits left by the time i am ready.heck i might evan be dead before i am close.(by the way F34R love your avatar is that you. NO i am not a perv.)

And that's not entirely stable. Look at what happened to people's 401ks when this depression begun.
