I'm new to the ngp news, yes about 5 months late. I knew very little about it. Is it true that it has no umd/cartridge? Wasn't that the problem with PSPgo and why it failed?

Not sure I follow with memory cards..How will that be sold to retailers?

Digital downloads would be sweet if amazon sold it, I'll be set!

But fair number of people don't do online shopping, and probably will not enter their cc in an playstation product for awhile. So I wonder how this memory card thing is going to work.

yeah the memory card will be sold at retailers with games on them. So basiclly you will be able to buy games at a store like normal. But with the PSPGo you can only get them online

Games will be available from retailers in Sonys new proprietary flash based cartridges.

As well as simultaneous releases on the PSN. (supposedly)

Sony: All NGP Cartridge Games Get Day-One Digital Release
By Chris Kohler (http://www.wired.com/gamelife/author/kobunheat/)

Well, somebody’s embracing the all-download future: Sony says it will make all physical NGP games available via download simultaneously.
“One thing we [learned] from PSP, is that we want to have simultaneous delivery in digital and physical for NGP. Just to clarify that, all games that appear physically will be made available digitally (http://www.mcvuk.com/features/894/INTERVIEW-Andrew-House),” Sony Computer Entertainment Europe president Andrew House said to MCV.
This is fantastic news; there’s no reason that we should have to carry around a bag full of cartridges when the technology and infrastructure exists to make everything downloadable.
Then again, Sony did sure enjoy saying a whole lot of things prior to the release of their last two game machines that were not, in the generally accepted meaning of the word, true.
Small grain of salt swallowed. Hope it isn’t necessary.
Which could potentially become even more costly. We'll have to wait until E3 to hear about internal storage capacity (rumoured not to have any at all) aswell as what removable media format will be used. Another Proprietary format, same proprietary format used for the retail games, Micro SD, Memory Stick PRO Duo etc....

If Proprietary, how much much is that gonna cost us and how large are the cards? That on top of how much the games themselves will cost compared to just buying it from retailers. Games are said to be 2-4GB.

Find out next month.

I think it failed because it was way overpriced and it's pretty lame that there were only a few of the PSP games available. Birth by Sleep never made it as a downloadable game. Quite sad actually.

If failed primarily because it was digital content only, high price point was secondary. Sony released a statement talking about this.

Couple that with downloading 1GB games over wireless G. Eew!

The PSPGo didnt fail because it was download only - thats the reason i bought it.
It failed because Sonys pricing model was shocking and the ****-poor amount of games that made it onto the PS Store.

Just thought I'd remind us all, that Sony said DLC for games could be saved onto the Game cartridge itself. Which is badass

I'm def. going to do all in my power to get NGP day one. 3G model.
I will only by the memory versions of games, not digital, I think eventually Sony will increase the ammount of gb the cards can hold after popular demand by devs.

On the PSPgo topic, It was 4 main reasons not for me to get one.
- It's too darn small, I have big hands(Big basketball player hands that spends lot's of hours of the day palming basketballs)
- Price (Sony never gets it right out of the gate smh. Thenthe fact that it was a cheaper revision that sold for more was BS)
- Digital only (Ewwww, I need my physical copies companies need to stop trying to force feed us into digital only future.)
- Lack of anything new that really made me want to trade in my PSP3000 for it.

I'm glad that retailers are getting memory cards. This will make physical games cheaper than sony's PS store. They still have infamous on there for 29.99, walmart had a clearance sale earlier this week that let you get the game for 9.99

So that's good news too. I don't want all the game cartirdges, but its better being safe than sorry. I hear that psp has no internal memory, so if we do plan to go the digital route, we need our own memory card for the multiple games? wonder how big they sell those things.

I'm looking forward for the release, but I will never ever get a video game console on day 1. At least for awhile. day 1 is bad in the gaming industry, at least for the last decade.

3ds came out, you would have never know it! that's because they have portable ports of games on the big gens. I doubt anyone would spend their money on that .
