So I was wonderin about getting Call of Duty: Black ops. And I read that there is a combat training mode in which you fight AI.
So my question is, can combat training be done offline, split-screen?

To use it you need to access the online part. So you need a connection to the Internet, but you are able to do it in split screen.

No need to be online to play against Bots but only in Split Screen mode.
To play combat training you need to be signed online.

As far as I'm aware yes. I think all versions of the game are the same.

You need to be signed in on your PSN or XBL account because Combat Training is under the online part. I tried to play while PSN was down last week and I was unable to because I had to sign in.

Split Screen can be played against bots without going online. Just for fun.
Combat Training can also be played split screen, but you need to be signed in. In combat training you're playing just like you would in online MP.. you rank up and unlock stuff. It's the MP experience without going to actual MP.

It peaked my interest after I got black ops for my PC. And saw the bots.

Ok, so I got black ops for my 360, only because it was not in store when I got it. But I've been playing the campaign, had fun with it, but no bots. What were you guys talking about?

there is a game mode where you can play against AI bots with friends i also have it for 360 we should play zombies sometime

Combat training is under the online section. This plays just like he multiplayer but without playing against other people. You level up and make money etc just like the player matches.
If you are playing straight split screen I am pretty sure There is an option to add bots but you wont gain experience and such since you are not connected to the online part.
I really like the combat training as it gives you a chance to get used to the maps and controls without getting slaughtered online. I now play online but am still not very good.

I think there is a patch or something that I have to get in order to have offline bots. Any knowledge of this? And definatly, after I get this fixed, we should set up some games.

Do you not have your xbox connected to the Internet? If it is, the game should have automatically updated to the most recent patch.
I haven't actually ever played offline multiplayer so I cannot 100% confirm the offline bots, but I was really sure they were in the options.

I've not connected since I got black ops. I'll do that and see if it works.
Can't you go to MP menu > Local > Splitscreen > Edit game options > Enemies/Friends whatever they call it?
Wolverine is right.
The downside is that you can only play TDM and FFA with a maximum of 10 players. You already have all the guns, pro perks, attachments etc. unlocked though.
