Same thing of the same thing over again. Activision is milking every penny they can.

Well, honestly I don't expect it to look much better then the Black Ops. I only buy them for different maps, guns, and gameplay.

That submarine interior scene looks nothing like a real submarine interior. They were making it look like it was wide open as a football field and that couldn't be farther from the facts, even for a supposed boomer. Even SSBN's are cramped and the bridge is a fraction of the size shown. The launch code sequence was pretty laughable. It doesn't take just a two-man key and fire buttons. There is a two part launch code that has to be joined together for the launch authorization to unlock the keys. Boomers are not fixed in place at time of launch like a land missile site, so there is some target steering that is required. Then the whole launching sequence was a real mystery, where they dug that up. It also kind of left the question where those missiles were going. Just one Trident boat has enough warheads to vaporize every major city on the planet, essentially bringing civilization as we know it to an end. There were way too many battleships in the harbor, MW3 looked more like WWII. The opening scene did look like a side show, with the main gameplay being the same old thing except in city combat on foot, just like every other CoD. Too much of the same old thing.

Hey, you know this is a widely popular game franchise right? They're not really going for staunch realism.

Hey, you know this is a widely popular game franchise right? They're not really going for staunch realism.

Yeah, I know that but it really took any dramatic seriousness away from the level. It also shows they didn't put much effort into research to at least make the submarine interior halfway convincing. There were a lot of other technical problems that ruined that sequence plus it made it look like just more of the same. It is a real mystery to me why so many people find the same gameplay over and over and over to be so fascinating, and not with reference to fps in general. There is a lot of variety in the fps genre, but CoD has the exact same gameplay, gun mechanics and action, in spite of where the locale is supposed to be. Actually, MW seems to be CoD WWII with a newer looking cover. The graphics were not all that improved either.

It doesn't need a "change". The game is loved by millions.... that's what matters. They don't care about pleasing the fanboys that will never like the game no matter what they do.

Still not as bad as the ending to Black Ops. When you get out of the water... that was the cheesiest and most hilariously dumb things I've ever seen in a video game. What, like 20 chinooks, 20 hueys, 15 patrol boats, at least 5 battleships and 6 jets. Not to forget that music. My favorite part is how it was obvious they've just been hanging out up there for quite a bit while you're down there doing everything yourself.

If they can keep out the ridiculous kill-streaks and perks and also add some recoil for skill then it will be pretty good IMO.

They are not going to change the game until they have reason to. If sales slip they will look at what is wrong but they want a game that any 8 year old can pick up and play quickly. There is nothing to teamwork or skill involved. Who ever is the game host will always own everyone in the room because of the crappy lag. If they just went back to COD4 perks and gun set ups and actually put some effort into character models and visuals than I would pick it up but these games get old FAST. I can only play so much before I realize they haven't fixed any of the glitches or perks and exploits. I have always been very good at COD games but it just lacks challenge and fun gameplay IMO. The game always has sooo many exploits and spawn camping and they never completely fix or patch...not to mention the aim assist I really can't be bothered. I much rather play a game with a little more cerebral approach and tactic as I get bored after a few weeks.

Fans are always going to say it looks epic, the hardcore fans would say its better looking than crysis 2 for an example.
If you played cod4, mw2 and BO then the action sequences will be almost identical (except from being in a different location and a new enemy).

That's not necessary a bad thing. I like the action sequences in of those games. I think they are cool and entertaining to look at and play through. As for BF3 why is it so much better than CoD? (general question not directed only towards you Lfc. sorry) Because it looks pretty? I see no difference between the two in terms of gameplay mechanics.

COD has become the training wheels of the gaming industry, seriously when someone jumps into gaming this late in the cycle its like mandatory to buy COD, the bad thing is that with that mindset they dont even give anything else that doesnt resemble it a bit a try.

At F3AR its not that its loved by millions, its like a social network game, for example i could give a crap about facebook but i have an account so family and friends can see my kids grow up, as a matter of fact i recently had a conversation with a COD gamer, i asked him if that was his favorite game, he replied NO but he plays its because that what everyone else plays baahhahhahah. Not hating I bought everyone one since COD 4 which i knew nothing about, just repent the fact that the formula has been stale. For awhile.

But since its what everyone else plays every launch title gets hyped like its bringing something new.

Looks so outdated when compared with BF3.NO ****! Your seriously comparing a game developed for high-end towers versus a game developed for consoles?

Well ill answer it anyway
1. the game is not about you getting kills and having the AI get you more kills. In BF3 YOU ARE the kill streak, you can go in the chopper, tank, uav and now the jet and cause havoc when ever you want. That sort of openness makes the game very diverse and not just shoot, shoot and shoot.
2. The game is based around team work, you get more points for helping out your team then running and gunning ( survive longer) and the game is not based around just killing ( why the kill streaks are added)
3. Its large, its not small corridor maps, the map gives your that freedom that you want, you can do what you want, take the path you want.
4. destruction: pretty obvious, being able to destroy the walls around you makes the game that much better and different, proved in BC1 nd BC2.
5. Now the guns will have recoil and other effects to not make it a run n gun, so you wont have as many noobs running around.
6. because its DICE, you can expect everything to be very well balanced.
7. You actually feel like your in army/team, even online. In COD you are just a lone wolf.

I guess it all falls down to preference, i prefer to to my own battles and do things my way, other prefer the simple way in which they only have to worry about shooting.
Also COD is too KD ratio related, causing too much camping and always will.
Thats the way i see it.

This is how I feel. At first, it looked really cool and I was excited to buy it - for the campaign - as I loved MW1+2, but about 2/3 through the video... I just got the feeling of 'ergh' the same thing ive done before, the same core COD gameplay I've played so much already..

From the gameplay demo's, there are no new guns really. Just all COD4 guns and reskins of MW2 guns.

That's all very true I agree but the people coming in here saying CoD sucks BF3 is much better just sounds dumb.

I hope I'm wrong but I'm calling it right now. Battlefield is going to be around for a while very popular series, highly successful. But then some years later DICE will realize what a cash cow they've got their hands on and start milking. I hope that I'm wrong and that I'll be playing Battlefield instead of CoD soon because it does look very interesting and DICE is promising a lot of things.

I think a lot of people are truly sick of CoD but also many people are just wanting to root for the underdog BF3. People love an underdog story.

COD makes great shooters, but they're lacking in variety. In my opinion each game feels as if they added a little more perks an ****, but that's it...I need destruction and vehicles in my games, or at the very least destruction. Come on COD and give me what i want. I know Im not the only one.

To be more clear im specifically talking bout multiplayer...their campaigns are over the top and i love that. Come October and November we will see who will take the crown.

I love all the complaints about CoD, the game was never built to be "mind-blowing" nor have "destructible enviorments" since the original CoD its basically stayed the same with just a change in era. CoD is about fluint gameplay and tight controls. A run n gun fast paced shootem up. You want detruction you got the BF series, you want mind blowing look else where than a military shooter. KZ 3 dont have any destruction and i dont see anyone tryin to force that series to change. Enjoy the game for what it is.

No way in hell anyone can say that gameplay didnt look fun, and after all isnt that what games are about "FUN"

It amazes me how this Gen. of gamers can take a game that is all of a solid 8, and say terrible, weak, re-skin, etc. etc. For myself i like what they have done with the scale of the game. The sky scrapers tower over you giving you the effect of how small you are in this large scale battle. Basically the same thing KZ3 did with enviorments.

And just to clear it up Im no CoD fan boy. I own the whole BF and CoD series and love each game for being there own beast and the best at what they do. And as far as the sub not being accurate, **** i aint pausin with a tape measure during the game for measurments. If i wanna do that ill go on a tour at Battleship Cove. Just my 2cents plz dont flame. Game looks sick, and ill surely enjoy blowin up the world!

I agree it does look terrible.
But its been terrible from MW2.
Yet we always seem to be sucked into the pre-release hype.
I'm a BF Fan but for some reason I've bought the past two CODS yet haven't played them much.
Black Ops has not been played since day of release.

I don't understand how somebody can say MW3 looks amazing graphically, when it looks the same as MW2 and that wasn't anything special at all.
Gameplay doesn't look great to me either.
In my eyes a lack of innovation in the series.

yea, but since BC1, it's been about every year a BF game came out, so in a way DICE are milking the serious but they are doing it early on. a little bit harder to notice but sooner or later it will start going downhill as well. Heck, I'm more excited about "Red Orchestra 2" on the PC more than this and the main reason is mod tools. If they put out mod tools for MW3 and the ability for me to use any server I want, I will definitely get MW3 on the PC then.

other than that, MW3 should be nothing more than a 30 dollar game. I almost wish Koticks greedy *** would split the game and make it cheaper but he obviously wont. Until I see the Multiplayer on MW3, I will still think it's nothing more than a black ops or a MW2 clone, exact clone. just pay $60 for some maps with no improvement.

Modern Warfare 3 does not look terrible at all...it just looks like, instead of wasting 60$ on an MW2 DLC id just spend my money on an entirely different game. as said MW3 looks great it's just that it looks like all the other recent Call of Duty games. but still it is COD so everybody will buy this i guess...I was so looking forward to buying this, to complete the adventure of MW1 and 2, but seems like i won't eeehhhh....money...money...money...moneyyy! that's appearently all that matters in the industry now

10 year old engine is what makes it look "terrible"
The engine is also why there is 60FPs on consoles but it is also holding back the progression of graphics there is only so much they can bolt on to make it look good.
