He talks about the new Sakaguchi games and the Japanese market, but I think this video best goes to explain Microsoft's view on 1080p. Some people here on the boards were trying to say how Microsoft is somehow being hypocritical for adding 1080p functionality to games and movies, just because at the last E3 they said it wasn't "necessary". Well as Peter says, it's still a *small* group of people that can take advantage of this, but they asked Microsoft if they could have it, and the capability is there in Xbox Live for system updates, so they went ahead and did it.

No, that is incorrect. The X-Box 360 had the feature built in before its release in November of 2005. The PS3 has not even been released yet.

Taskmaster, then why wasn't it released with 1080p capability?

That makes a whole lot of sense......not. Majority of people didn't want it in the first place and it's not like Microshaft to follow the needs of a small group. I say there is some underlying reason why they added it and I think I know what it is, lol.

So people called MS and said we WANT 1080p and they listened but ignored devs when they said they NEED more space. If "MS 1080p" is available for games as well as movies then thats all good. It's the continuous horse manuer that comes out of his mouth that urks me.

Yep, along with this and what I say it's very fishy and i'm not buying it.

So, did Sony have two SKU's becuase Microsoft had 2 SKU's? Did Sony have a motion-censor controller becuase Nintendo had a motion-sensor controller?

Seriously, it does not really matter.

But oh..when did sony announce they were having 1080p? :DD

1080p is an industry standard (at least in high end equipment), so how implementing 1080p can be called 'copying' is ridiculous. Better than no 1080p at all.

Microsoft didn't seem to think so when they said it was "meaningless".

I would have to agree with that one, although the point isn't if they've been copying, the point is if they've been major hypocrites?

Now the answer is up to the individual, I got my opinion but I don't see how it could add any constructive to this thread, so I'll just keep my mouth shut :-|

Peter moore = Idiot. Proof: Saying you can buy a wii and 360 for the same price of Playstation 3 without knowing the wii's actual price. Also, I think he's behind wii60 (wouldn't surprise me)

He's the one who basically started the whole Wii360 drama. Xbox and Wii fans just took it and ran with it (hence the website).

Peter Moore also said a year ago or so that the PS3 will cost over $1000 because of the Blu-ray player. And When he was one of the head honcho's of Sega he said they'd be able to compete with Playstation. Look what happened. Now excuse me i'ma go play some Saint's Row.

Inclusion of 1080P is no big deal one way or another. Less than 1% of people have a TV that it will matter on. Even if it goes up to 10% in the lifetime of the 360 (not likely) it is still insiginificant. I guess it's nice that they did it, but it's more a marketing move than a meaningful move.

1080P is just not that big of a deal.
