View Full Version : So this is what £515 gets me....

After about a month of waiting I received 8 pieces of paper in an envelope, originally I ordered two Hot Toys figures which I'm sure some of you have heard of, and this is all I get.
Just filed a claim through paypal so hopefully I'll get my money back. Never though I would be a victim of a scam, always thought I was wary of that kind of stuff.
Never mind, what goes around comes around.
a) Yeah, you have to do extreme levels of due diligence if you’re not buying through a trusted source (like Amazon). I bought my recent MBP 15 used and I did everything short of contacting the FBI for a background check!
2) You should link up the site, Ebay store/username, etc., to save someone else!
III. Almost $700 for some figurines? Wow.
Oh the website was www.hottoysonlinestore.com but it doesn't work anymore, the person who was helping him with the site is emailing everyone saying he's talking to police and his lawyer to try and sort this out, there's just over 40 people who have been scammed.
One of the guys in the emails though is called Darren Douglas who is a concept artist for SCEE

I'm right there with you. Been scammed by some asshole who was selling Vitas online at employee price, but it turns out he's not answering phone calls, mails or anything to me or other 40 customers for over a week. Funny thing is, he's been selling since 2009 and had quite a good reputation. Seems like you can't trust anyone these days.

I LOVE online shopping but it's the horror stories you hear like this that puts people off! Do you think you'll get your money back Thor? Really hope you guys get your money back man. I've only been scammed once but that was when i took out a new phone contract with Carphone warehouse they sold my details onto a company who called me up knowing everything about my deal and my personal information offering me phone insurance and well, i fell for it but i only lost £100 and i was fuming so i can't begin to imagine how you guys are feeling

Since I didn't pay with bank transfers and I used something similar to PayPal down here, my payment is fully assured. The problem is the guys at customer service who just don't give a fuck. I'll sue if I have to, or I'll take this to the cops. Not like anyone down here cares anyway, especially not cops. Might as well just buy a gun and find the fucker to take my personal vendetta against the seller.
Will you be putting a complaint Sylar? Will you get your cash back?
It's so hard to tell what's around the corner, I've send a claim through paypal and the dude has until the 4th March to sort it out or paypal will do it instead. I think the guy who was running the site (called Dave) has run off with the money but the person who was helping him (called Steve) is emailing everyone and saying he's handling the refunds and contacting the police. He promised we'd all receive our refunds so I'll have to wait and see.
I really hope you get your money back though Thor, people like this will get what's coming to them eventually ;)
