The news comes straight from Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime, who made the confirmation with Kotaku (http://kotaku.com/5916441/fire-emblem-awakening-will-be-coming-to-american-3ds-systems). No word on European launch, although it seems likely.
Fire Emblem: Awakening was the best-selling title of the week (http://www.vg247.com/2012/04/25/japanese-charts-%e2%80%93-fire-emblem-awakening-shows-strong-debut-3ds-sales-up-by-20992-units/) when it launched in Japan in mid-April, driving up 3DS hardware sales. It shifted 81% of its initial shipment (http://www.vg247.com/2012/04/28/fire-emblem-awakening-sells-through-81-63-of-debut-stock/), and has consistently charted in the seven weeks since its launch.
Nintendo of America nabbed a domain (http://www.vg247.com/2012/04/25/fire-emblem-awakening-domain-registration-hints-at-us-release/) for Fire Emblem: Awakening in the week following its Japanese release. The RPG did not make an appearance during any of Nintendo’s E3 events.
