When the PS4 model is released, what model do you think you will buy? How long will you wait after it's release to get one?

Ill definitely will be waiting for about a 1 or so and see if anyone has reliability issues with the next system. This gen has def suffered at launch with the bugs on the PS3 and Xbox360.
however the Wii U i will buy at launch given Nintendo's reliability history never have i had a problem with any Nintendo console i've purchased.

I will either get the second or third model, but I put second.

I voted 1st model and I will probably jump on board 18-24 months after launch. Unlike many at PSU, this gen/PS3/Vita and its standard of graphics etc rocks my gaming world. Sony will keep putting the games out and I dare say that a lot of 3rd party devs wont be going 100% gen 8 and will probably still want to release software for the 150,000,000 PS360 install base. I'm glad to still be more than content with what we have, plus there are 30 games on my to get list...
I've always waited way too long because I wasn't earning my own money back in the day.
This time I'll be one of them crazy midnight launch geeks just because I can.

Day one baby. Day one.
BBK. Tapatalking.
Prob seconed gen model. I like waiting to see problems and usually getting bigger hard drives.
I'd say the 2nd model or the slim. I imagine myself being quite busy going forward and I've got so many games to play through on different platforms that it just wouldn't make sense to get one right away. Unless I can play my PS3 retail games - I might consider it then, doubtful though

Slim, 3-4 years.
Day 1 if I have the money then.

I voted 2nd model, 2-3 years after release. It gives Sony a chance to work on hardware issues and a chance to add to the game library.

I'll probably get the first model within 6 months. Don't have the patience for any longer then that

I'll wait on a slim no rush got a crapload of a backlog to go through.
I'll be getting the system on day 1. Period.

Year 2 or 3. Depends on what specials and bundles are out. I'm tired of seeing people wait and get a better, more efficient version of the same console as me. I wanna be that guy who gets Uncharted 10 with 3 or 4 blu rays for the amazingly low price of $199.99!

Yeah me too, and If there is multiple models I'll get the one with the bigger HDD/more features. I don't care how much it costs...
Of course down the track if theres a slim model and mine dies or I feel the need to get a new model I'll trade the old model in for the new one, like I did with my poor dying phat ps3
Via Tapatalk :)
If the HDD is not upgradable I'll get the biggest. If it is I'll get the cheapest.
Most likely day 1 for me too.

I wonder whats going to be the PS4's (gimmick or thing) meaning dvd (ps2) Blu-ray(ps3) i think its a safe bet that we can expect a cloud service with ps4

I'm waiting for the 2nd model more than likely. I'll be just fine with my ps3 for another year or 2. Especially in 2013. Idk what 2014 holds tho. Then I'll have a few titles I can pick up for cheap for the ps4. It = all win for me.
I might stand in the cold and buy a ps4 at launch and sell it on ebay in Dec. The kiddies got to have the rare ps4:lol:
I voted 1 to 2 years after launch. I got the phat ps3 on launch day .i think i will waite this time

What I meant was that I've never bought a PS product that broke on me as soon that I've plug it....
My OG 60 gig died after more than 3 years....
The only 360 I've bought RRODed on me as soon as I came home!!!!
I hope it's a day 1 purchase for me.

I think I will wait it out next gen. I probably won't bother buying at all or I may buy when the console gets to be $99 or less. This generation has taught me a few things about all the companies; things I don't like very much at all. For me to buy a console on day one, it had better possess a quantum leap in hardware and software in regards to performance, features and reliability. The console MUST be OPEN to customization on the hardware and software front as well as allow for homebrew and third party hardware and software support. Anything less, and it won't be worth the launch price tag. It's as simple as that.
Now, dislike away as I know many of you will.

There's nothing to dislike. It shows that you'll be a pc gamer because your expectations and demands are that of a crazy gamer when expecting what a ps4/720 will allow.

My brother in the last 3 months has had so many issues with his ps3 fat he got it around launch ran good for a long time tho i have yet to have any issues with my slim but i do perfer the backward compatibility of his older model.
I went with the second model, 2-3 years after release. But it all depends on the games. If there's some stuff that makes me really want to play it, I'll buy one earlier. If it's just a bunch of sequels to sequels like this gen, with a severe shortage of new IP's, it could easily be 4-5 years before they get cheap enough to warrant a purchase.
DeviousOne
07-22-2012, 15:11
Like when i first got my PS3 i only played sport titles at first while the library was building up most likely its going to be the same situation with the PS4 but it has to look 100 times better than my PS3 for it to warrant a purchase.
Day one and the premium model, I won't be backlogging the likes if Uncharted 4 and missing out by waiting years for a less able and degraded PS4 in case the launch model isn't as reliable, my warranty will cover that

I'll really try to hold off until the 3rd or 4th model. It will be a crap ton of money straight out of the gate.
Il wait & let others be the Guinea pigs to see if Console actually lasts more than a year (Even though PS3 has a low Failure rate)

Your launch model is still running? God I'm jealous... A few months ago, mine was still working. But it was so freaking loud... it was like someone was vacuum cleaning my appartement or something... lol ^^ Guess it's that nostalgia feeling.
I'm eager to see what the PS4 can do. I'll have plenty to play in 2013 and 2014 (lol I'll spend at least 600 Euros on games until 2014). GOW Ascension, Dead Space 3, Far Cry 3, AC3, Crysis 3 (lol for the 3's... but I don't think sequels are bad... I mean we got some great franchises, don't we?), and whatnot. Great great games.
I hope they don't release a teaser trailer that's obviously pre-rendered but keep promising that this is 100% in-engine and even in-game like they did with the Motorstorm trailer...

Depending on money situation at the time, i'll probably get it very shortly after release date. When i say "shortly" i mean within a few months after release date.
I remember my 1st PS3 cost me over €700 brand new when i got it, because i got it on higher purchase at the time and that was with no game. That was a couple of months after the PS3 was released.
Does anyone have pictures off PS4?

I missed out on buying either of the current gen consoles on launch so I'd like to get the PS4 on launch but if there's no games that interest me I may just hold off for a year or so or until the first price drop.

It depends when it releases. My PC will dictate when I buy it and what games are released at launch. Assuming it has some good first party must haves I'll get it on launch day, won't be queuing up though.
I can't see them making another £425 machine so as long as the top version is less than that, and it offers the same value, I'll grab that one.

I can already see a great percentage of you guys lining up on day 1, hoping to be one of the lucky ones who get one before it's sold out...
I'm damn sure Sony and Microsoft will keep their mouths shut 100% until E3. And than BAM - both consoles announced. Both about equally strong, but the PS3 having the edge (this is what I hope - if Sony fails to deliver a console that is at least 100% on par with the next Xbox, it will turn a lot of PS3-only owners into Xbox720 owners). We get all the details on E3 and THEN, trust me, the hype will skyrocket. Everyone of you, including me, will get hyped - if the specs and the (tech-) demos are a big leap forward.
I bought the 60GB PS3 launch model on day1 and it lasted me until March 2012. Quite a while. But then again, my fat PS2 still works, and it's waaaayyy older and was used about equally as much.
I hope that the next gen consoles don't break as easily as the current ones did when they launched. Heck, I'm already thinking about waiting for the PS4 slim, but I would miss a lot of great games. Usually, you don't buy older games and play them when the overall quality of the lineup has increased a lot. What that means: I'm sure that I would've never played Resistance FOM, Motorstorm, Heavenly Sword etc. etc. if I hadn't bought my 60gig launch model.
But 2012's and particularily 2013's games will last me quite a while. Can't wait for AC3, Dead Space 3, GOW Ascension, Crysis 3, Far Cry 3, MGR Revengeance and much more.
