They say no matter how powerful your PC is, the 360 version WILL look better, I was quite amazed, I thought they would look the same, and i'm not sure about the PS3 version either.

I'm sure it means consoles in general, but I honestly was expecting this... I was hoping this at least, I didn't want o get a console version when the pc version is right there.

Thats what having a unified ATI beast in your machine does for you :D

That is dumb because I know strong computers and they look sweet.

Well duh. HL2 came out two years ago. Both versions should look a little bit better than the PC version due to longer development and advances in graphics tech.

Plus, regarding a comment in the TS, this is an Xbox 360 preview. Not a PS3 preview. They're not going to mention the PS3 in a 360 preview. Common sense.

Half-life 2 PC: 2004 release.
Half-life 2 360: 2007 release.

Good job Mr. Obvious. The Xenon or Xenos (I can't remember which is which) is much more powerful than what was around in 2004.

HL2 EP2 is diffrent in graphics than HL2, mainly because of HDR lighting.

If you look at the Portal trailers and videos, that's just another example of the different graphics.

They may be using the new updated engine for the new stuff.

Good, you fixed the title. Much more understandable thread now.

The original title said the 360 version of HL2 will look better than PC. Now it says HL2: EP2. Maybe a mod fixed the title.

will we get HL2 demos on marketplace ?

Thanks for tacking "according to GameSpot" on this one. I'm a little tired of PC <-> XBox360 comparisons. PC level graphics are not static by any means. A better graphics card with higher levels of detail can make the same game look better. Unless they are using different texture quality, 3d models, and other lighting/shadowing models, the game should look exactly the same given an equal performing graphics card. Given a better graphics card than the Xenos' performance in the XBox360, the game should look better on the PC. Given a worse graphics card, the game would look better on the XBox360.

Otherwise, there is no XBox360 vs PC comparison that is valid. There is only XBox360 vs PC given a specific configuration.

If no matter what spec PC version you get, the XBox360 version will look better, than Valve made it that way by choice.

Probably not, I don't think there were even HL2 demos for the PC.

Actually, there was a demo for HL2. However, it gave you insufficient ammo for an extremely hard level (We don't go to Ravenholm). Not a very good demo, IIMSS.

If they remade it for the PC I can think of a few good systems with a "beast" interior. Shame that wont be done.

lol I remember that demo! Scared the **** out of me, I dreaded going there in the full game and I was relieved when I got out.

Man, that reminds me of how great of a game half life 2 truely was.

The PC demo was also the very first level when you enter city 17, then when you got to the end of that(real quick walk through) you went into ravenholm

Here's how this is working, to clear up.

Half Life 2- PC (2004)

Half Life 2: Episode 1- PC (2006)

Half Life 2: Episode 2- PC (2007)

Half Life 2- X360 (2007) (Updated from 2004 PC version. Higher res textures, models, HDR lighting... pretty much to bring the 2004 classic up to speed with the graphical quality of the 2006/07 episodes 1 and 2)

Half Life 2: Episode 1- X360 (2007) (Same great looking episode released 5 months ago for PC).

Half Life 2: Episode 2- X360 (2007) (Same great looking brand new episode releasing in Q1 2007 for PC).

THE XBOX 360 VERSIONS OF THE HL2 EPISODES WILL LOOK LIKE THEY DO ON A HIGH-END PC. The only difference is that the X360 version of the original Half Life 2 will look as good as the new episodes do on PC/X360, through the repeatedly updated Source tech since 2004.

Considering Half Life 2 was on Xbox this is a no brainer.
