Do you think that the prices of video games and video game consoles will decrease in price next generation?
Looking at the handhelds, the 3DS AND the PS Vita started at the price of $250, so that's a good sign. The prices for games was about the same, $40=$45 dollars at retail.
Now, the PS3, 360, and Wii gen was kind of expensive, with the PS3 costing the most out of the gate.
Do you think next gen will be cheaper than this current gen out of the gate? Would you say the handhelds are a good foreshadowing of console and console game's prices?
I think the next gen consoles will be cheaper maybe 300 or something. As for the price of the games maybe more or less the same this gen.

Complete opposite...games are getting more expensive to develop, not cheaper.

Handhelds seem to have always been priced lower than their console counterparts. Video games won't go above the 60 dollar price point, unless it's a collector's edition with a fancy leather jacket or whatever.

It'll be the same. Only the consoles will be $300-$350. But I wouldn't complain if they went back to $50. Was a blissful time. But then again the game industry is too commercialized for me, so it wouldn't matter.

They may with digital content becoming more promident in the future it may. I dont see it going over 60 even in the n64 days games were 59.99 average.
You do have one case in 1994 where VR (virtual racing) for the Sega Genisis cost 100 bucks cause it used the SVP which was sega's answer to the SNES's FX chip.
If they stick to bluray it will probably be the same. Either way, game prices will never go down.

Do you think prepaid Iphones will decrease in price? Ask your self that question and the answer is the same as the answer to this thread.

I think that video games will increase in price and not decrease. Because video games are going to be better so the better they are the most costly they will be because it costs more to make them.
$59.99 for wii u and the next two consoles.

To much money to be made, if prices stay at the current price and also money to be posted at current prices
It's a balancing act all game companies and retailers have to deal with
I swear its like +10 a new gen so I see 69.99
The price will be what they are, for a very long time
Until their is a way to make a $100 million+ game cheaper or sell it cheaper.
The future is expensive and are pockets empty

The prices will stay as they are, we've seen even digitally downloading a game from the PS Store is more expensive than buying a hard copy, for example Far Cry 3 is something like £59.99 on the PS Store, absolutely ridiculous. So i guess the prices will stay as they are, they have to. All new consoles lose money at the start of their lifecycle, and i'm not willing to pay more than £40/$60 for a game tbh.

No, if anything there will be a spike in prices 2-3 years after the next gen systems come out.

No, opposite of that actually. I think they'll get more expensive. Higher technology, is more money to develop. Charge more to make there profit margin higher :/
Games are and always will be in the 40-50 pounds range, especially at early on the consoles life when games drop to about 30 pounds, next gen will see games increase to how much they was when PS3 was first released
But they'll never get as silly as the 16-bit era with Snes games being 69.99 pounds
