The NV2A (Xbox XGPU) was nothing but a GeForce 3 with an extra Vertex Shader.
You should note that the 4 GPU's (SLI'd 7950GX2's) each have the power of the RSX.
If there would be an Alan Wake you should expect a Xbox 360 like version graphically.

Then ya got Cell that can do graphics and game systems and other game stuff on the ppe and spes in Cell. Cell can do alot of things a video card/gpu can do but do them better.
Cell can do graphics by it self and ray tracking and ray casting and lots more. And for what Cell cant do or not as good as a video card/gpu then that where RSX comes in to do that. Then ya got how RSX and Cell can read/write to each other at the highest bandwidth for a video card/gpu/ cpu ever.
That not adding on PS3 can do 1080p and haves hdmi 1.3, 120fps, 128 bit color, blu-ray, and so much more next gen stuff in it. Xbox360 pipe lines and core are weak to start with then add on there even weaker because of all the pipe lines can do shader and vertex.
That makes the pipe lines/core more weaker. Then you forget that the ratio for the xbox360 will go up and down and not good as RSX's because RSX's will stay soild.
RSX can do more shader per clock and second. Meaning better graphics and there alot of other RSX specs at own xbox360 gpu. It just a fact and with Cell the graphics get even better and more stuff like game systems and other game stuff can be in a PS3 game because of Cell and also blu-ray.
