So to summarize, the 360 HD DVD can be hooked up to a PC, and has a slight chance it can be used as a player if you have the right software.

I'm guessing it will be a vista only feature. But still good news.

That should help to sell a few more of them.

Wow, that will help the format kick-off in the war between that and Blu-ray.

Yeah, watching movies on your PC as opposed to your TV.
Yeah, they will help them...

You cant watch HD DVD's when its hooked to your computer, it only serves as an external optical disc drive.

What's the point of it then? You can't burn HD-DVDs and you can't watch them either? Seems like someone was absent when god was handing out the think jars.

If you have an HDCP compliant video card. All that would be need is an vga to dvi adapter.

If it is recognized by a PC, it is only a matter of time before someone will write drivers and a player for it. Once this happens, this will be a cheap HD-DVD player for anyone with a HTPC that they can hook up to their tv.

Um why would you like to watch movies on your computer's monitor, if you've got a much better TV? :s

You don't have to watch it on a monitor if you have a HTPC connected to your tv.

Does this mean the drive will also be available for general purpose applications, such as proper data disks? If so, it would be very useful.

Well actually.

EVERY XBOX 360 ACCESSORY with USB is compatible with the PC... including Windows XP. And the Xbox 360 also can support a Blu-Ray player, add-on, but that won't happen..
