*Update 29/11/06*
We haven’t been able to get everybody’s original points back unfortunately, but to get things moving here is what I have done:
You now start with points equal to your number of posts. Then I have awarded you (based on your usergroup) the following points.
[5000 points] Admin
[3000 points] Mods
[2000 points] SMC
[1500 points] Design Squad
[1000 points] Industry Insider
[500 points] Registered User
You will then receive:
Paycheck: [Once weekly] - And only if you have been active in the last 7 days.
[250 points] Admin
[200 points] Mods
[100 points] SMC
[50 points] Design Squad
[20 points] Industry Insider
[10 points] Registered User
Points for registering: 100
Points for Birthday: 200
Points for Referral: 100
Points per thread view: 0.01
Points per thread: 20
Points per reply: 0.1
Points per character: 0.001
Points per Good Reputation: 10
Points Per Poll Creation: 5
Points per Poll Vote: 0.1
Points per Thread Rate: 0.5
Bank Interest: 2%

I'm glad to here that we'll eventually regain our old skill point totals. I previously had over 15000 points, and I'd hate to see that vanish without a trace. Nice job with the new shop. :)
I'll put it this way - it won't affect you skill points if you do [buy them now] as they either;
a) Will be reset or
b) They won’t.
If they [skill points] are [reset] you will be able to buy the icons back with your new skill point total [reset] if not then obviously you will keep them.
So essentially I'm saying you can buy them now but you may have to buy them back if we reset things.

I have the same problem as Angelcurio and clearing the cache isn't helping. I can only see the shop and icons in aria+, and I hate aria+.

You need to be extremely fast if you want some icons.
You only need 20 posts to get an icon, so most of them will be gone in no time.

Well, to be fair, we really need out icons and skill points to be imported. Having to start from scratch after spending a huge amount of time trying to get 2 ps3 icons, 2 ps3 controllers, 2 sony icons, 3 ps2 icons and 1 or 2 psp icons is not fun.

Maybe. My feeling is though that because user ID's got changed during the import [was unavoidable] we may not be able to match up the icons/points to users. However the most likely thing we will do is recalculate points a bit more fairly as right now the system calculates them in a weird way [I don't know why some people with 1000's of posts have hardly any skill points] for example. That said that’s not the definitive word. That will come from the programmer I ask to assist me in restoring the system to its original brilliance. Stay tuned.

Yea Ive added skill points to the defualt. We will continue to work on the default once we've got Aria functioning properly.

Agreed. I had 3 Xbox 360 items, 3 Xbox controller items, Halo, Nintendo, and Firefox... And I also spent like 10 (or was it 15) thousand points on a different name.

I just sold all of my icons for what I thought was 1000 points. It turns out I wasn't credited with any. I should have like 6,300 points instead of the 300 I'm left with which kinda sucks.
Thats strange. I got a 33% refund, so i told Morph and he changed it back to 100%.

I've fixed the shop resale option. It now actually resales at 100%. Turns out I'd missed out one little digit in the code.
Also reimbursed you 6,000 points.
That just happened to me. I just had 2 PS3 icons and I sold them and only got 700 SP back.
BTW what happended to the Name effects?

I remember Trinity and I working really hard to get our icons, we have to participate in a lot of auctions in order to get ps3 icons, sony icons and ps3 controller icons, and that was for over 4 months. So, will we be able to get our icons back?
I don't think we will get our old icons back, Angelcurio. Just like we don't get our old skillpoints back.

Somewhat unfair on all the older members me thinks.
Im sure someone could go through and give out points for the number of posts, then start afresh from there.
Say if you've got 1000 posts you get ten free icons.
3000 is worth 30 icons etc.
It took me the best part of a year to get my collection, now when the icons were going cheap some people have amassed a small fortune in icons...
I mean some members have 100 posts and 14000 points WTF!!
O and the other thing is i liked it how it was in the old forum where only posts in gaming sections gave you points. Seem to get points where ever what ever youpost about. Even in spam threads if im not mistaken.
Anyway sorry to moan im sure your working on a solution, so no worries.

When we imported from PHPBB to VBulletin, some of the user ID's got changed making it impossible to accurately port icons/skill points to the appropriate user. This was a standard process that the importing script had to do [I don’t know exactly why it did/does this], but nevertheless, we are starting fresh and I have dished out extra points to the special usergroups to make up for this. I know it’s not ideal but it’s better than not having the system at all.

I guess i will pass on the system this time. Trinity and i putted to much effort on it last time, and actually having to start from scratch after being participating in auctions and the like for a period of over for months was too tiring. Thanks for the repply.
On a side note, the shop is not listed in the vbulletin skin, it would be greatly apreciated if you include it, since i know a couple of users that as myself use that skin.

No it turns out the system was set up wrongly. You were receiving 400 points per new thread which is completely unheard of. It's only fair on other members that I modified your points to where you approximately should be in terms of points based on your post count.
It was my mistake and I apologize. However we are not discriminating here. It was purely a mix up with the settings. Hope you understand and again please accept my apologies.

You used to have to trade with another person to get them ordered. Not sure if there is an add on for V-bul that allows this. Have to ask Morph/ Rebon.

That was something that many members complained about in the old forums, they wanted to order their icons in a special order. What people did was to send their icons to another member that they trusted, and that member send the icon back. So if you would send your playstation3 icon to a member and he sends it back they would be in the order you wanted to, because you wanted the ps3 icon to come AFTER the sony icon

Okay, I thought the Plaza Bank was set to give 2% interest every week or so. I noticed it has been gone to 2% - 5% every 2 days. Now I just had a look again and the amount of time is set at 27 days. So what's up with that?

Instead of giving like 20 or something points for creating a new thread, you can give the same number of points as a normal post but then give extra points for things like thread views, replies, polls,thread rate. This will promote people into making threads that are useful to the forums instead of posting random junk.

That makes everything unfair. Actually the forums had that options before and it resulted in members that make many threads having a VERY high ammount of skill points. That is the exact reason why snip3rexo had around 15.000 skill points even though he only had around 200-300 posts. Your idea might sound good but it doesnt work. Some members usually make new threads ALL THE TIME (not that its a bad thing, atleast as long as they are not meaningless) and they would have sooo much more skill points than other members that would rather post posts that really contributes to the discussion and posts that are well-thought before posted
And i think that is the reason why some members have ALOT of icons or skill points even though they havent even reached a post count of 3.000 :?

i had a problem with my glow as i couldn't change the color and was stuck. i just figured out i could get rid of my glow and i did, expected it to sell me back my points. well i lost my glow and my points. sorry for the mishaps can anything be done mods?

I was going to ask something to the same effect. We are on a PS3 forum. There were three sets of 40 some-odd icons for people to purchase that had a PS3 picture in it. I would love to get one, but nobody would sell one for any sensible price. I would also like to get a couple of other things, but again, they are sold out...
Will there be a remedy to this, or will it stay the same? It's really not that big of a deal, but I would like to show my PS3 support by having the icons...

Will there be a remedy to this, or will it stay the same? It's really not that big of a deal, but I would like to show my PS3 support by having the icons...
Its in the works. Morpheus is currently updating the Stores script/code so a member(s) can take the job as Store Clerk and update everything and add new icons.
So hopefully it will be soon.

I don't mean to question your judgment Morph, but I think that with every star you earn, your paycheck increases by 10, starting off from your original paycheck from 10. Say, a newbie would earn 10, a dedicated member would receive 20, and so on. What do you think?

I noticed that in the Plaza the points after . aren't shown anymore.
I was about to transfer some points to the bank, but it said "not enough points". By lowering the amount by 1 point it did transfer... keeping 1 point (probably something like 0.8 point) in the normal overview...
(*sigh*, I hope someone is able to decipher what I just wrote... grammar, spelling sucks today and I can't think straight...)

Yeah, I get what you mean. I noticed that as well. The numbers after the decimal (.) are not shown. So if you have 231.5 points, it'll show 232. Not a big deal to me, but it is kind of annoying trying to guess how many you've got.

You get points by contributing in a thread. You get points for posting in any thread outside of the General Chit Chat. In GCC you get 0 points. I think points are disabled right now though.

Hey your not the only one who lost as much as other. We all did & I dont see any need to complain. Other have lost more then 100k but it matters not cuz we all lost it. That makes it even if you get what i mean.:(

I think 5 points per post, was eight a while back. 20 per thread. You can buy icons with points, each icon is 1k sp, (skill points). If you subscribe, you'll get more points per post and thread and other features.

To get you're own unique custom user title, you must donate to AJe 15000sp and pm him with what you wan't you're user title name as.

Its mainly used to by special little icons that are put into the spot under your name.

Other then that they can be used to "pay" for services of other members, such as helping you find something, create a signature or avatar for you or basically anything you can think of.
They are the forum currency, you can use them to buy the little icons displayed next to your posts or exchange them for signatures around the forum.
Sometimes there are contests that require skill points to enter as well.

Yes, you can take all of your money out of the bank at any time. Obviously you can only take out what you have in there though.
No, there is no limit to what you can withdraw. Again though, you can only withdraw the amount that you have deposited to that point. For example, if I have 500 SP in the bank, I can withdraw all 500 at any time; or, I can withdraw lesser amounts at any time.
No, the points are not used by anyone else. They're yours :)

Yes it is, after paying 15,000 SP once, you can change your user-title without extra charge once a month.

i have 26 rep points. But you start of with ten
ok it works like this
10 rep points you have no square. ok when you get another 10 points you get a square. But you will have to earn about more rep points to get another square i would say another 40 of 90 points for another square and after that you will have to get another 100 points for another square it gets more harder to get a square.
When you get to 1,000 points you will have to get another 100 or 200 or 400 points before you get another square. But when you get to 5,000 rep points you will not get anymore squares because the limit is 11 squares plus the 3 star system under your avartar.
So i know i might not have explained this right. I hope you get what i have said and i hope you understand it
So every so many points you will get an extra square. But remember the more points you have the harder it is to get another square

Name effects were things this forum used to have before the shop had to be removed due to some problems that Seb found with the coding.
The name effects allowed users to pay with SP to change their names to have different qualities; for example, you could buy different colours, you could buy a coloured glow, make your name bold or italicised or underlined etc.
Unfortunately it doesn't exist anymore.

You can buy a user title (like the one you see) for 15,000 sp. Once you have the sp send a VM to AJe and tell him what you would like it to say and then send him the sp and it's yours. You can then change it once per month.
