Arghhh nice and detailed, I do think you were alittle generous on some of the scores though, but if you really felt that way, all power to you :)
I heard the single player was very short. Also arn't there very few modes of multiplayer? Deathmatch and some sort of captain? Why no capture the flag? It is nice to see a game with good co-op and amazing graphics though. I believe co-op is the next thing in shooter games. I wouldn't go as far to give gears a 9.9/10. I'd give it a solid 9.1, it needs to have a longer single player and more multiplayer options to prevent it from getting repetitive.

The single player is long if you don't play it on casual. which virtually cuts the time in half. It isn't repetitive.

You guys can call me biased. I think the 9.0-9.4s were trying to find something wrong with the game just so people wouldn't call them biased. There is really nothing I can find wrong with it. It exceeds the gameplay, graphical quality and fun of any game I've played on a console, save maybe RE4, maybe it's better than RE4... It's a masterpiece.

Multiplayer is more like an 8.5 due to lack of customization, broken matchmaking system and A.I god the difficulty in the game goes from way easy to way hard the difficulty A.I settings are off and could you ask for worst A.I partners when it comes to death kill ratio?

Weapons etc? Hmm... maybe.
As for A.I. Im not quite sure what you just said. The A.I. gets a lot harder on harder difficulty settings, thats exactly how difficulty settings should work.

No I meant it's out of whack kind of like Ridge Racer games, it will be easy at one moment then BOOM its like you cranked the difficulty level up a notch out of nowhere. I think the difficulty balance is off, and the teamates come on you have to have said that while playing or the "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!!" It's definetly a game meant to be played online with a friend. Multiplayer sure its fun but its missing that Halo 2 level of customization, it should have just taken the halo2 matchmaking we've already been through the whole no friends with you in ranked games thing and getting in a match isn't always the easiest thing.

Getting into a match is fine. The friendly AI isnt great, but Ive never seen a game with good friendly AI. The idea is that you do the killing, not them, you know.

Good review, I agree with everything but the story. It was good mind you, and yes it does have that "shrouded in mystery" feeling, so that could be a "good" thing in the end, but until GeoW 2 comes out and the story actually IS revealed, I will say that GeoW was interesting, the and in the end, the only gripe I have with the story is that in the end, I don't know what was going on. Yes, I know what happened IN the game, but they should have conveyed a little bit of the past story, how the locusts got there in the first place... what actually happened at Marcus' trial, and of course, what happened to Dom's girlfriend/wife.

oh well I can feel you along way, but the multiplayer do have a lot of issues right now, also the difficulties are not balanced enough, it's like they missed out something between Casual and Hardcore.

Yeah, if I had an Xbox360, I would definately get this game (This just might be the best shooter on the 360 for now, and in the future until they can make a second one lol)

Damn! this game is going to be freakin' sweet! Too bad I won't be able to buy it until my next paycheck. I freakin going to Vegas this weekend so I had to save money for that trip...but i'm not complaining real life fun over games anyday!

I more or less agree with everything in that review.
Good review i say, nothing wrong with it.
Remember, when you see someone elses review its their own oppinion. someone might give it an 8, i wouldnt, mine would be very close to this.
Multiplayer is amazing, as for weapon choice etc, i get what your saying, but the multiplayer seems almost perfect, ive played it loads today and never thought, i want to turn "THAT" gun off, or any thing. I think epic has known what they are doing when it comes to this game.
they may add it in the future, fair play if they do. But its amultiplayer i can jump in and play, i dont think it needs much customization.
So all in all, great review compgeek.

It's the best damn Xbox 360 game I have ever played. This game screams quality in every category. I love how you can zoom in on the textures and they end up looking BETTER rather than looking worse. I don't know how Epic made such a good game, but this is definately THE game to own this year!
I believe the multiplayer doesn't deserve a 9 in score, let alone 10.
Like Stewie said, the matchmaking is broken and the customisability is damn near non-existant. And another gripe? 3 modes of Team Deathmatch.
When Gears of War gets updated, we definately do not need new maps (the maps are awesome!), but we need more modes.

Unlike you, I play the game's multiplayer all the time, and I can safely say the matchmaking system is NOT broken. Perhaps you should check it out yourself before repeating what other's say that isn't true....just a suggestion.

Ranked matchmaking is actually really good. Customization would be better, but as things are, the settings are really good. Way better balanced than Halo 2...

All customization does, IMHO, is make it so half the servers will have settings I dont want to play with instead of every one being an option. I like the standard GoW has and I hope it stays.
Hey, well I got a xbox360 about a week or so ago and I love it. I beileve there is no console war and its just about the games. Well, I got to say, gears of war kicks butt big time, lol. I love the graphics. They are the best graphics in any game ever be4. The story line is great and the game play is just alot of fun. Online is the best, altho theres only 10 maps and its like counter strike in away, because when you die your dead till the next round, but it gos fast since theres only 8 players. I understand why they added the downs thing too. I love the chainsaw most likely the most, lol. Theres 2 glitchs that I know of or can think of right now lol, they are, a chainsaw glitch where you and someone try to chainsaw one a other and sometimes you or him/her will get chainsawed for real and the other person will look like he/she is getting chainsawed, but have no gun, but he/she is screaming and have his/hers arms out and have no gun in his/hers hands.
The other one is where a person gets there back to a wall and crouch, sometimes you or someone will get stuck crouch, but move all over the map like that with out moveing your legs and stuff, lol. Over all the game gets a 10 out of 10 and when you beat the game, you know theres a gears 2 on its way. Oh and to load the servers faster, all ya have to do is, hit a, then when its finding them, hit b, then hit a, and if that dont work, do it again, and if that dont work do it again, lol. It takes about once to 2 times, most of the time, but if you need to, just keep doing that till they load, lol. I sure hope the online mode gets more maps and more modes. Ctf would own and dm for people that like that, lol. There sould be 2 modes for dm, ctf, and tdm. 1 Where when you die your dead till the next round and the other one is when you die you can just come back to life right away. And stll haves rounds or not, well, that could be the 3rd mode for those modes or for all modes, and the other 2 modes I just named, lol. Like being able to turn on rounds and turn off rounds.

For what team they are on, they will have a red or blue down arrow above there head and they have to kill someone on the other team, for them to become it. There could be 2 modes for this type of mode and this mode could work for tdm and dm. One mode is where ya just got to kill someone for them to become it and the other one is where you can only use your chainsaw to kill soneone for them to become it. Oh and when someone is it, they could shoot somebody and if they only get that person down, he/she would be it, till someone revives him/her. Hopefully more devers. start thinking outside of the box, for makeing up new types of game modes, besides just your tdm, dm, and ctf. Well, a other kind of mode for tag could be, where your it for to long and have'nt killed anyone, in some amount of time and then you start hearing this beeping sound, going faster and faster, then you blow up and who other is the worst player at that time, will be it. That could just be in that tag kind of mode or a on/off thing, like basicy a addon, like a mode for that mode type, lol.

the people who play the game know the multiplayer is not broken. it does not take long to jump into a match.
there is ranked team play
you can set 4 friends vs 4 other friends.
player matches are awsome.
the only thing they could improve apon is custome lobby for friends that can join other teams. also have an actual section for clans.
so no its not slow to find games, its not hard to join games. knuckles sent me an invite to play gears online when i was playing pgr or something and i switched games and there i was. in his game playing with his friends, fast easy, simple.

Well it's not like they came out of nowhere, the UNREAL series have been kicking ass on PCs for 5+ years.

Me and my bro have been owning people online everyday this week.
this game is better than Halo imo if only they added more modes to play and weapons. hopefully a patch will be release soon.
I have always been doubtful of what 360 has to offer until today. What's changed my mind GOW. I've always been a Playstation follower you only have to look at my inventory to see that, after pickiing up a 360 at launch, going to a pre release event in London I was left with a bitter taste in my mouth. So much hardware I thought but just clean cut xbox graphics. Well a year on Microsoft has finally released one of it's big guns GOW and you watch the trailers and think does it really look that good... well people it does...
Graphics:
This is the closest thing to cinematic you've ever seen. It's a cutscene oh no it's not it's ingame. The cutscenes are ingame or are they ingame cutscenes? Confused so am I this game is outstanding. It's definately the best looking game ever on any console. If anyone think's otherwise they need glasses, no seriously you do... You play it and then it makes you wonder how much further graphically a game can come. From the beautiful enviroments to the outstanding character models.
Gameplay:
It's damn good fun. Which surprised me, wether it's shattering the locust heards teath or ducking and diving your way out of a close call. I love how you can seemlessly hide behind objects and walls, then pop up out of cover and blow someones brains out. It opens up so many possibiities on the style you play, this game could be the reason I get LIVE.
Story:
It's average, the only average part of the game. It doesn't set any new bars but the cutscenes look so damn good you don't here a word there saying anyway. It's like your mate telling you he's getting married but catherine zeta jones walking across at the same time. Your to busy examining the models. One thing did get on my nerves though was the voices, they can be cheesy not so much the main characters which is thankful.
Multiplayer:
This is part of the game that I am looking forward to experiencing, I haven't got LIVE but as I said this game is the reason I could be getting it. Which is a feat on it's own surely.
Overall:
My sum up of how much GOW rocks. I don't think there will be a person who gets hands on time that won't be impressed, they called it Emergence Day for a reason and that's because for the first time a game really shows what the 360 is capable of. It really is a Killer App, the first one in my opinion that 360 has had to date, but to take nothing away from it though I think it's overdue. Maybe enough to open people's eyes into buying a system on GOW merit alone it's that good. Put into simple words GOW is the next generation that 360 should of represented itself with a year ago. All the A+ reviews are spot on because at the moment it's in a legue of it's own.
Sorry if this is a little short but back to GOW and i'm putting up my flame sheild for the locusts in the meantime... Fire away with any questions...

it's a really good game... i'm not into single-player gaming but this is a quality offering. The co-op on live is nothing short of exemplary
Dude you really need to get live. You think the single player is addictive. Wait until you get a load of MP. Co-op is loads of fun as well. I had to step back from the game for a min because every time I pick up. I'm gauranteed to play it all day without devoting my time to anything else. It's that addictive. I am glad to someone from the other side giving the 360 a chance. It's not about who's better than who, but the overall enjoyment you get from playing a great game regardless of the platform.

The AI is really deep, and there seems to be some random event scripting going on that I can't use the same old strategy all the time. That keeps in on my toes and add to the replayability.
But Resistence is fun as well. For a launch title it is downright amazing.

He/shes's not lying. The game actually looks better in multiplayer. It's bizarre. Multiplayer is almost scarily graphically fidelic. I know fidelic isn't a word. But it should be.

Yeah, it's my favorite Xbox 360 game so far. The online is the best part about the game. To experience Xbox 360 and Gears of War to the fullest, you need to get Xbox Live.

Its a stunning game at no doubt. Would I put it before Morrowind...nope.
I had a chance to play it over my cousins house and man is that game addicting. To bad I don't have the dineros to purchase it (much less a 360) but definitely worth getting for all 360's owners. Epic definitely did a great job on the ingame mechanics and the graphics are stunning.

Hey, gaming is a priority, but if you want to keep gaming, you have to get a job to buy all the fancy new consoles.
After playing it for few hours, here's my verdict:
Graphics: 10/10
You can't deny this. It's freakin beautiful even on SDTV.
Storyline: 8.5/10
Can't say there aren't any cliches but personally, I like it. The progression is pretty good too.
Gameplay: 9/10
It's awesome. The gameplay works great but I only have a few grouches on the button-mapping. Kept pressing the wrong button for reload. Singleplayer mechanics works damn fine and Multiplayer is dead-on although it would be better if it was 5v5 or 6v6.
AI: 9.5/10
Some of the best AI I've seen in a videogame. The harder the difficulty is, the better the AI is.
Sound: 9/10
Gears Of War sounds great on a surround sound setup. The only thing that detracts from a complete immersive experience is the ambience. It feels rather empty when you're not engaging anything.
Lasting Appeal: 10/10
I'll be playing this game for months on end. Try playing the casual mode first and then up the notch after you win the game. You're gonna find yourself a whole new challenge just by changing the difficulty. I can only imagine how's the INSANE mode is since mine's not unlocked yet.. As for multiplayer, the co-op splitscreen works like a charm. The co-op through LIVE is nothing short of spectacular. For the traditional team battles, you're in for a big treat. Pick up a copy. You won't be disappointed(unless you like to play barbie dolls and a fan of Jack Thompson).
PS: Gotta love the chainsaw.

Hey guys, I just got this game last night and I have to say it is one sick puppy. Love the game. Great affects, gameplay is great, online play is fun, everything about it just works. I'm hoping future games that come out will be just as good. This is probably the best title out for 360 in my opinion. I don't know what else you could really ask for in a FPS....well, maybe a jump button :).

I'm very close to purchasing a 360 along with GOW as m first game. I've been hearing so many great reviews of this game that I think its finally time to purchase a next gen console.
After watching a 10 minute review/trailer on gamespot I've decided that this game looks like it would be fun for about five minutes. I'm very close to purchasing a 360 along with GOW as m first game. I've been hearing so many great reviews of this game that I think its finally time to purchase a next gen console.

Let me see...did you like Golden Eye?! How about Halo?! How about Call of Duty? Don't you basically go "hiding behind walls and shooting" in all of those games too?! I don't get the confusion here. It's a FPS, you are supposed to run around and shoot things. But if you think the ONLY objective in this game is to walk around aimlessly and shoot things, you are wrong, there are missions for you to try and complete and there are different challenges to the game.
Besides, walking around aimlessly and shooting things can be fun too...it was basically the entire premis of Gran Theft Auto. You make judgements about games from watching a 10 minute trailor?! You haven't even tried getting your hands on a controller and playing it...poor judgement call there. This will probably be the game of the year now...but you are right, it CAN'T be fun for more than 10 minutes.

I agree i think the the single player is a solid 9.5 but the multiplayer falls short of an 8.5, it gets repetitive. that is the only thing though. VERY GREAT GAME
12.5 hour completion time.

You guys can call me biased. I think the 9.0-9.4s were trying to find something wrong with the game just so people wouldn't call them biased. There is really nothing I can find wrong with it. It exceeds the gameplay, graphical quality and fun of any game I've played on a console, save maybe RE4, maybe it's better than RE4... It's a masterpiece.
He is absolutely right. There is nothing at all that is wrong with the game. Microsoft payed off on a great game.
IMO, the scores it currently has are fine. The first hour can feel really boring, because it's just shooting.
Then you get to the chainsaw.
Like the big boom, suddenly everything feels more pumped. Not long after, you're fighting Troikas, Seeders, Berserkers, and avoiding the Kryll.
I hate the Kryll so bad right now, cheap death scene IMO. I haven't faced the Troikas yet, are they in the middle of the game of what?
Troikas are the Locust name for the machine gun emplacements.

Did you have to fight the Corpser? And how hard are the Theron Guards?
Theron guard are one thing "teh ghey" if you ask me. Be prepared to watch out for that crossbow with the exploding arrows. If one attaches on you, your as good as dead. Use the sniper to take him out from afar or prepare to use a lot's of rounds to unload on him from safe distance or use chainsaw(still easy btw). For the Corpser (that giant arachnid right?) you have to go through once he lifts up his feet. Then shoot his belly then whe he open his mouth, shoot him again. Repeat this while avoiding his legs from coming down on you until he gets to the edge of the area. There you will be attacked by those wrecher's or whatever and let DOM deal with them. Then let the corpsor attack the bridges connecting the platform he is in, both of them. Just bait him into attacking those bridges but don't get killed in the process.

I haven’t really decided if GOW really lives up to all the hype. I beat the game on hardcore with my brother in about 10 hours (2 nights). It was a hell of a lot of fun, but after that, there isn’t much to do with the game now. The multiplayer is weak. The lack of options and modes really hurt it. Also, I have a widescreen HDTV, and it really bothers me that the screen can’t be split vertically. Lack of weapons hurt it a little too. The chainsaw is cool at first but ends up just being a gimmick. Two of the rifles are strikingly similar, and the method in which the grenades are thrown is very inefficient. (Tilt too high and you’ll have no idea where it will land). If you judge the game simply on the campaign, I’d give it a 10, one of the best gaming experiences I’ve had in a long time. Judging as a whole, sure it looks great, but I’d still say anywhere between 8.8 and 9.

I wasnt really impressed with gears of war.
I bought it 2 days ago and am up to the final boss, but i dont think i will bother trying to beat him again.
It looks and sounds great but its far too stressful for me.
I wont be getting number 2.

Welp. i've always sworn to ps/3, but after I've got this game for my 360, i must admit 360 has opened my eyes.
Ive tried the ps3's motorstorm, resistance, ridge racer, at a danish game convention, but must admit this game looks far superior. People can say what they want, but this game sure is the prettiest one available now, and sure is a load of fun.

There are almost no physics to be impressed with. All the buildings that crumple away are cutscenes or something similar. Enemies die by flinging their legs over their head like a cartwheel, even if they were on their hands and knees. Maybe body parts falling off is somewhat impressive, but beyond that, I've seen Half-life 2 do much better.

Played it at a friend's house a couple of days ago and I must say, it sure is a great game. I really want to try and see how insane mode feels like. :D
Well. I've been playing Gears for a while, around 4 days quite often, multiplayer, single player and online co-op. And I cannot say whether it lives to the hype, because that would be subjective to who is playing.
For me though? Its not quite what the hype would have me believe..
The multiplayer seems broken in some respects, mainly because of the ludricous host advantage. Most of the maps also seem like 'rush to the super weapons'.
The single player is good, but the Story is weak, and doesn't make me crave going back for more.
Its a good game, hell yes, but its multiplayer (And i'm never a great person for story-mode kind of things, unless its co-op) is dissapointing. I find the control system a bit hit-and-miss, and the game comes accross as a twitch game as opposed to one based mainly on skill, especially at close range.
Ultimately the worst problem is that your team means so much. Pre-made teams destroy random teams, and they really should have added functionality for Pre-Made v Pre-Made, and Random v Random (where teams would be created based on your ranking). It also kinda craves FFA.
They also need a functionality for forcing headsets, because if a team has headsets on every guy, and yours doesn't have it on any but yourself, you are going to get screwed.
I won't go into great detail, as I'm tired, but I'm certainly not quite so sure the hype this game was given was just.
Graphically its incredible, even on an PAL TV, and one thats way over 10 years old too!
8/10 tops from me (though I'm a harsh critic!)
Thinking about picking up RSix for X-Mas though :)

oh lol I was really looking forward to Rainbow Six, but after downloading both demos I found myself greatly dissapointed, the framerates are downright horrible, and the control systen for your squad sucks major D.I.C.K.

The faults are clear to see for anyone who isn't drowning in their own importance.
The game is to close-combat based, which makes it too twitch based.

I actually enjoy the close combat fighting.
The only thing I'd like fixed is things such as variaty in weapons and smoother animations, more maps and at some point a radar so you can see where your teammates are :lol:

Yeah, using the Y button also removes your current aim and might get you into trouble if enemies are nearby.
I'm mainly talking about the chainsaw animation, and the 'weapon jam' animations, they seem unbelieveable weird at times.
The textures lacks quality because everything is streamed, eg. when you start a map everything looks ****ty for a few seconds, and if you zoom in with the sniper of roadie run for some time you'll also notice some textures lacking because they haven't been streamed yet.
When I'm talking about weapons it's because they get boring in the end.
I mean there's really little that disingush (spelling) one weapon from the other.
The rocketlauncher is weak, in the way that it doesn't do what rocketlaunchers normally do. You would normally aim for the surface near your opponent to asure that you give damage to them, in Gears of War there's like no radious damage whatsoever, it makes it quite useless imo.
The bow is a nice touch but it simply doesn't cut it imo.

I think my main hate with the game is that most of the weapons are absurdly powerful. It is infact. Too easy to die.
I mean really:
Lancer: One hit for a kill
Shotgun: One hit for a kill
Pistol: Pretty crap all round
Smoke Grenade: Non-damaging weapon, but supports close combat
Hammer of Dawn: One hit for a kill
Grenades: One hit for a kill
Boomshot: One hit for a kill
Torque Bow: One hit for a kill
Sniper: One good hit kills
That Weird Machine Gun: Really powerful, but not a one hit for a kill
Thats the problem for me..
I don't mind taking damage quickly, but when it comes down to shotgun v shotgun, it really turns into a 50% luck, 50% twitch system, and that seems to be what happens most games.
The host advantage is bad too...
My improvements for the MP game would be random spawning weapons (They switch over). Don't start with the shotgun. Chainsaw can only be used every so often. Some big, much more open maps.

Explosions do hurt soldiers, even if the shrapnel is one one side of the wall and the soldier is on the other.
Epic needs to learn this.

I've been playing Gears now for 4 nights straight, I've already completed the Casual and Hardcore campaigns, and I absolutely love it. Although the story does sorta suck(aswell as the dialogue btw), I really dont think it's that important as aspect of the game. Seeing how the game itself is all-action and fast paced, I dont think there's that big a need for one. My one gripe would be the length, which is quite short.
It's the gameplay that really makes this game stand out. For the first couple of hours, the cover system did seem repetitive. But the more you play the more you started to love, and you also discover chainsaw(SWEET!) and the punching technique so there's some close-physical contact if you do get bored.
The graphics are consistently excellent, despite the fact the game is set in so many different terrains. The mud and rain in that level before you enter the factory complex, even though is a once off setting, is really astounding.
I'm yet to play the multiplayer, but I'm sure it's great. Fair play to Epic, they've put one hell of an effort in on this game.
Overall, 9/10.

I was talking about both but sorry for the confusion lol. The animation does look a bit weird during Fenix's cover movement.
I don't know if this is the place to post this but do you guys have problems getting in Xbox Live to play versus mode on Gear of War - sometimes I get disconnection error? do you guys experience this? is there update/fix for this? I'm using comcast. - luv the gears of war but doesn't compare to Soccom(can't wait for ps3 version)...

It'd be impossible then though, you'd have to be constantly moving and you'd be getting slaughtered in the process. Too much realism kills games.
But that is the reason it should be insane lol. I don't know, increased damage ain't enough for me I guess. You still commando roll to the side and jump over the edge.

Too little realism in a shooter does the same. We don't expect to die, just to get hurt. Or else grenades, Torque Bows, and BoomShots are completely useless.
When someone was talking about what needs to be fixed for the next game, I'll like to suggest this:
Fix the freaking teamate AI. Dom is a useless fat ass.
This game is great but there are too many glitches/bugs on this game....
The grenade tagging and chainsawing is SO overpowered in this game.
Why couldn't they make it so the chainsaw has to actually touch the ****ing enemy to make it do damage? Why couldn't they make it so you had to actually touch the friggin enemy to tag them with grenades?
Why does the host have SO much of an advantage?
If they sort those 3 things out, this game will go up by a whole point imo

While singleplayer and co-op are fun, (thought very repetitive. I got tired with that already, but it's fun to play once for a while) deathmatches etc. are PAIN IN THE ASS. I bought this game because of this and it was fun for the first week but now I don't play it much. As Xaor said, grenade tagging and chainsawing is so damn overpowered. Also, it much, MUCH more wise to take the pistol out, rush against your enemy and hit him once (you have to hit him twice to kill him, but first hit basically means that you killed him). Shooting? I never did that except just to "scare". You would think that in the game where you kill enemies with your GUNS it would be the most effective way. Only gun which I use for this purpose is rifle. Also default weapons are much better than any other weapon which you can pick up. Then the cover system. When I try to run, I get "stuck" far too many times because suddenly I'm on the cover.
Damn, I should have picked Rainbow Six: Vegas =/

this game has made it more difficult for me to try to decide on what next-gen console to buy i haven't acually played it but from what i've seen i'd give it a 8.7 (somwhere round there) but I doubt this game will bee renembered in 1 or 2 years time as a classic (like in the way orcana of time or mario is today) because it impressed people mainly on the technical front and games are just going to keep looking better and better but congrats to epic for a great game (well have'nt acually played it yet but my friend will proberly hurry up and buy it)

Before i traded in my xbox 360 for Ps3 i bought a copy of Gears of War. Id have to admit i was very impressed with this game. The graphics for one was steller and the onlne play was neat. THe single player game had its moments but there was a few draw backs.
I did not like how the game could be beatin with in a day. I got hte game and me an my college buddies got a few millers lol and did the Co-op and beat it in one night (it was a addicting game but too short).
Also i did not like how there was a lack of real story telling. After we beat it the first time we played it in the hardest setting to and decided to actually listen to the story lol (didnt care the first time around lol). After beating it for the second time there was really no story. They had some story elements but tehy didnt go into details about Marcus and Dom and as well as the Locost (maybe sequl?).
Besides those to gripes id have to admit it was a great game constant action to keep an gamer hooked for hours. 9/10

I don't know about that. This game seems to be the "Halo" of Xbox 360 and I much prefer Halo over Ocarina of Time. Gears is supposed to be a coming out with a part 2 and maybe a part 3 so it's legacy will still be going on for years to come.

I have beaten Gears of War on Insane and Unlocked all the online achievements except for the 10,000 kills one and i have to say that it was one of the funnest games I have ever played. This review was practically spot on.

Of course I played Ocarina of Time. I even got my dad into the system and even he beat it. I just don't think it was "The game" as far as consoles are concerned. What I meant was Gears is "The game" so far for the 360. Halo was "The game" as far as the Xbox. Ocarina of Time wasn't "The game" for N64. My personal opinion of "The game" for N64 was definitely Golden Eye. That was a badass game.

Gears is the best. The only game i still play on xbox from time to time. I beat it on casual and im working on hardcore mode right now.

I agreed with this review. It was one of the best games I everp layed and not to mention one of the best looking. Most games STILL do not compare with it graphic wise. The intense shootouts and sense of urgency to find cover and plan your attacks was unmatched and it's one of the only games that had me playing it's muliplayer online mode day in and day out.
Great job Epic can't wait for part 2 :)

Gears was a blast to play, I honestly think it's a solid shooter. One of my favorite moments was when my friend stuck a gernade in my mouth and I chainsawed him, right after he was chainsawed i blew up.
I probably wouldn't have given it quite as high a rating, but i agree it is a fantastic game. In fact it is still the best game this gen. I'm looking forward to the second installment to find a little bit more out about the storyline.
A brilliant game, Co op is absolutely amazing, me and my friend stayed up til 4.30am playing it!

As far as ten million copies sold....First of all, the only reason people are buying the game is because of all of the hype and marketing. All of the reviews I've read are stellar, yet they don't seem to really say what is so good about the game. The reviewers say that there is zero story line, game play is unoriginal and lacking variety, and the graphics are fantastic despite having zero color, BUT, it's the best F'ing game we've ever played! It doesn't make sense when you read the review and then see the score the game gets. It's totally unwarranted based on all of the criticisms the game has. So everyone believes the reviews and hype and purchases the game blindly.
I also think that it's a pretty good indication that whenever the general population embraces a product, that it's usually very average. For example, the highest selling musical artists are by far the least talented. For example, I'm sure Justin Timberlake and Fergie Ferg had two of the highest selling albums this year. What do they both have in common? Zero talent and awful pop songs that were written in some old producers basement. What is the highest grossing film ever? Titanic! That was the worst god****ed movie I've ever seen.
What is the lesson here?? The more widely accepted a product is, the worse it is. A good indication that something sucks is if everyone and their neighbor owns it.
Gears of War blows, and all of you guys just aren't bold enough to formulate your own opinion on something so you all do what is safe and follow the pack.

I think its taking it to far calling them sheep, their just kids and all kids like to do what their friends are doing. Remember when you were that age? No kid wants to be the one that doesn't fit in and to go against the crowd. Just because you think GOW sucks just means you've grown up plus the game wasn't meant for you or adults for that matter. Just look at Halo, the aliens look like the monsters off of The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers t.v. show and you bounce around like a little bunny to try and kill them.
Why do you think you can join the military when you're 18? Because at that age they still think shooting and killing is cool and at that age they're easily brainwashed.

The game is good, but i prefered Resistance in the end. To me the story outline, and some of the more in-depth pieces are not original, and used a lot. But other then that, it is very fun, and only Resistance could pull you off semi-easily when they came out.
