View Full Version : Exams
Only 6 days left till i get my A-level Examination results.
I hope i do good. only time will tell.
Good luck in it :D
Yea I'm getting mine back too. Hope you've done well DDS.
Back here where I leave we have no such thing as A-level Examition? We have a final year 12 test for university entrance! Very hard indeed! but I hope to ace it and go into the Medical Scince field. So far my average for all my subjects is A+ none lower! Studying really hard ...
Can u please fill me in on this Examitions of urs? must be really hard I assume?
Good luck in it to both of u's Morphues & DDS, Hope u's both get Extremely great marks in them!
Here in the US its the SATs. If, like PS3 said, you plan to go into medical, you have to pass the PCAT for pharmacy (30 secs for super hard questions!) and the MCAT (45 secs, a little better). Hehehe, PS3, even with that perfect average of yours, you might get around a 60 or 70% (this IS percent tile by the way). Infact, i know stories of people that have 4.0GPA and get 27% on the PCAT! But almost everyone aces the MCAT...
Anyway, hope you get good results on those tests! Isnt GU also getting result? Gluck!
At year 9 [age of 14] students do SATs.
At year 10 [age of 15] they start GCSE (I think it stands for General Cirtificate of Secondary Education) and they do the GCSE exams in year 11 [age 16].
And thats the last of the compalsary education....students can choose to do further education in which they are planning to go to University...or they can start a career and get a job.
If you are doing A-level (consists of 2 years) further education....you will choose any 3 or 4 subjects (4 for those who are capibale)....and study intensively for one year and do half the A-level and the end of the first year....these exams are called AS.....At the begining of the second year you will be asked to apply to unversity according to the grades you obtained in AS....during the second year students will study the same 3 or 4 subjects but different modules of the subject....and they will do the second half of those exams at the end of the second year..these are called A2.
AS=first half of A-Level
A2=second Half of A-level
In three days time i will get my AS results.
Hope that gave you a brief insight of what is studied here in the UK.
Yea I'm getting mine back too. Hope you've done well DDS.
Thanks...i hope you get good results as well.
When did you do these exams and how old are you (if you don't mind me asking).
I'm 18 next month. I did my AS exams in June.
i get my GCSE exam results 1 week after the a-level results come out
so thats what 10 days now aghhhhhhhh!!!!!!
i think ive screwed up on it badly as welll
oh #### oh ####
oh btw goodluck morph and DDS on your AS and A2 results
Thanks Gaming Ultima. And don't worry everyone does much better than they think on GCSE exams. They mark the mock exams tonnes harder than they do the real ones. I'm sure you've done fine.
As for AS Exams....Ahhhh PANIC! :D
still think I have done badly but anyways
Iím sure you have done fine morph but good luck a second time for good measure
It's been a while since i got my A-level results, and i'm very happy with them.
Maths: A (97% overall)
Physics:A (85% overall)
Chemistry:A (93% overall)
Biology:B (76% overall)
This is what is required for each grade
80%+ is A
70%-79% is B
60%-69% is C
50%-59 is D
40%-49% is E
below 40 is U (Ungraded)
Im in my last year of High School, Year 11 (15-16yrs of age). Looking forward to leaving and studying something I really like. I want to do something in video game animation.
You get graded easy DDS. I would have gotten straight As for almost my entire 8 years in school.
Now I know where canada gets the % system for grades(states use A's and B's through all of school) but anyways I got it easy I am just going totake over my dads residential plumbing buisness so I don't need that high of grades and I only have 2 months of college then for 4 years I get a aprentice ship
where ever I look I get more things to add to my anti American pile for me and my friends to laugh at, its amazing really
though the same can be said for a lot of English people I suppose
i know, how bout this, the whole world is getting dumber by the day!
the hole world is getting dumber by the day eh? Then why is technology growing so fast some one smart has to develope it, and what did you add to your "anti American" pile
Then why is technology growing so fast some one smart has to develope it.
Its because of the improvement in technology that people are getting dumber.
That is actualy a good point so I guess we should say every one except Japan is getting dumber
Go japan! Maybe one day they will take over the world and make us all slaves. Yes, i am a psychopath. :P
You get graded easy DDS. I would have gotten straight As for almost my entire 8 years in school. :shock:huh, you're kidding me.
Do you know how hard those f**king A-levels are?
Why do you thing the grade boundaries are not high, coz the exams themsleves are at einstein's level.
People have a harder time at A-level (that's if they make it to do A-level) than they do at University.
I'll have you know 80% of the people taking the maths course (in my school) got U .  shocking isn't it? and those people aren't you ordinary tom dick and harry, these people are people that are very bright and intelligent. these people got almost staright A's in GCSE (at 16 years old).
Just ask someone else who has done, or is doing A-level.
Well, yes, its a very hard test, but i dont know about it being harder than the CATs and SATs here. Prolly same level. Just the grades here are 90%+ to get A. Is the A-level tests on percent tile or your actual score?? :?
*agree's with myself*
Hey! You can at least answer my question  and im not american, so i think you are forgetting that GU
*agrees with GU*England has one of the hardest and best education plans in the world(I think it is fallowed by Canada) So basicly If somthing is hard for them expect it to be impossible to us.
My question remains unanswered
personally i would say that the English education from start to 11 is good and then it drops off a bit from 11 to 14 but 15 and 16 its quite good again and then a-level and after that English uni education is very good
Lately, FFVII has been the talk of the town. Both GameInformer, and Electronic Gaming Monthly claim to have confirmed. Apparently, that might no be the case with Square Enix, as they claim that they themselves have not yet confirmed development for the inevitable remake.
"While the June 2006 issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly [and GameInformer] confirms the remake for release in 2007, Square Enix has never stated this."
Thats all Squenix wrote folks. With the recent trend of publishing a bazillion different versions of it's titles, it would come as no suprise to me for Square Enix to pump out a next-gen version of the RPG classic.
Oh shit, didn't see that. nm
