It's nothing like this forum, theres is proboard or something similar, this is PHPBB. You can tell that his is also coded in straight up HTML. Not putting the forums down dragonlance, Im just stating the differences.

erm...i thought all sites were from html?

watashi
08-16-2004, 03:09
Nah this site uses PHP, it's better I think, everything's coded instead of html...I prefer php, but I don't wanna learn how to do it...

I dont have a database so i couldnt use phpbb2  . I found a free one but you need to have a paid private email.

Watashi, phpBB is free, but you have to buy webspace. Thats why i didnt use it.

I don't like darkish colors

Well problem is you cant use any GOOD colors with proboards :(
You can upload images for teh background, but only teh background. The only other way to change it like that would be to copy teh source code. Paste it onto a webmaking program of your choice, change teh html colors to your choice in the code and the upload it on your own domain and webspace. But if you have your own paid domain, doing all that is a waste. PhpBB2 is much better and paid for domains allow for php files. Hence why not just get phpBB2.

dragon most sites use a mix of several different languages I believe, but honestly Im not very informed on web design so I couldnt go into much detail.

Right click on the site, anywhere, and click on view source, it gives you a VERY long HTML coding, thats all you need to have inorder to make an exact replica.

Blake

Yea, that's how people rip others layouts.

You are deerly mistaken.
Copying the source code of something like a forum would give you anything but a working replica.

I use php and phpBB, the forum consits of many operations.
For example if you were to copy a source code of a forum and use it on yours.....what do you think would happen if someone was to post a message, do you think it'll magically create a new thread and place in nowhere, just because you copied one source code?....actually i have a strong feeling the message would go to the forum you copied the source code from, which would be no good to you.

But thats only with a forum, which was what i was talking about so i was wrong. But its still only with a forum.

If a site uses a PHP backend then theres no point in copying the source code, as what you get will be a jumble of useless data. If a site is all html, then copying the source code will give you a working replica - forum or not.

Rebonuk, way to go, you just killed the argument  . GI uses all html i think, but im not sure.

Well, first, i know html now (well parts of it) and second, i downloaded this new template for my forum, have a look see if you want...i think ill be getting a better scroll bar that that. That one was just me playing with features :D

Now i just have to figure out a way to put in my forum's name at the header. So if anybody has any ideas, please tell me.

Oh, and i put in skill points. There is basically this site for proboards hacks, its hard at first but you get the hang of it after a while.

PS: To anyone that has a proboards forum and is interested in modifying it to make it look sweet, click help me, i need heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeellllllllllllpppp!!!!! (www.solidsnakedesigns.com)
Do a bit of exploring, and make sure to visit the forums for all the hacks and templates, skins, support etc.

Well, thats it for now, ill post some more hacks later

PPS: Have phpBB? Then problem solved. Visit the url above, visit their forums, and go to the phpBB board, but this site is generally for starting forums, and those that need a bit of patching up.

You can edit the templates yourself of course :D

Hope that helps to anyone in need--Dragonlance

GI uses all html i think, but im not sure.

Its impossible to base a forum soley on HTML. Its most likely PHP/ASP/CGI (Im sure a quick look would reveal which language but I cant be bothered)

Dragonlance
09-04-2004, 17:38
Its cji, php, i dunno about ASP though.

What about java? I know it is a very powerfull anguage but it is slow and HTML well that language is the easiest to learn it was developed by a abused 12 year old so basicly it sucks in my opinion and if I learned any language it would probably be vbs so then I can load it into a vb.net script

Dragonlance

Your post didnt make the least bit of sense BW

Blake
09-04-2004, 21:38
It did to me. Bloodywar, HTML is the most basic and original language there is when it comes to creating webpages. All websites used to be done in basic HTML. It's only normal for it to suck compared to today's standards.

I meant the part about the abused 12 year old. He says its easy to learn but then he says it sucks and...AAH! im confused :(

Why dont you regsiter? Meh, NVM. Thats advertiseing. So dont register :P
Anyway thanks for the compliment. Otherwise V.2.0 will be arriving pretty soon. Definetly before New Years, but after Thanks Giving. I need some time to get a template.
Anyway, to all, i finally have photoshop nad know how to use it! *audience claps*!
So now the default "No AVY" thing was designed by me. And i am becomeing a GFX moderator on F5designs. Just thought i would post this up. Anyway, i havnt been able to post much on PS3forums due to the huge amount of homework i have had in teh last few days. To let you all know i will be posting more regularly now.

So instead of making 3 threads, i figured i would put it all in one. ;)

I know this is advertising and appologise in advance but if you want a phpbb2 forum use phpbbstar.com.
They offer banerless hosting. It only new though. But i use it and i have to admit that it is a genuinley great service.

Actually gaminginsider shutdown.
I have my PBHacks site but www.solidsnakedesigns.com is your best bet for Proboards hacks etc.
www.viperhosting.net for free cpanels, MYSQL, FTP, way better than phpBB star cuz you also get a site and its 100% adfree!

Square Enix has recently had a sit down with IGN to discuss what is now becoming the biggest mystery surrounding the PS3, and they do little to clear things up.

During last year's E3, Square Enix showed the world a tech demo to display the PS3's power. Many of you have seen this demo, some may not, regardless, they showed the opening sequence to Final Fantasy VII, looking gorgeous, in high def glory and with updated graphics. This demo may have been the best thing for Sony, or a very bad thing for them, as since then, there has been talk all over the place as to whether or not this was just a tech demo, or a hint at what is to come?

Many of the tech demos that have been shown have turned out to be parts of actual games, or bear a striking resemblence. Two notable ones are from Eight Days. A hugely popular demo of a car being shot up, and a demo of the cell's power to display graphics and physics of a gas station blowing up are both reminiscent in the trailer shown at this years E3. This trend feeds the fuels to the fire that there will indeed be a remake.

Furthermore, in recent issues, Game Informer and EGM have, in rumor sections, stated that Square Enix is working on a remake. These articles have sparked talk online, renewing people's hopes. Well Square Enix has sit down with IGN to bring some clarification to the issue, but they just add confusion.

In the interview with IGN, SE stated that We haven't announced anything but hey we're not going to rule out the possibility." Take this as you will, but this is the standard response, and it roughly translates to "We haven't said anything, but we might."

Having confused the fans once again, it seems that we will just have to wait and see what happens. The latest rumors are saying that an announcement will be made at the Tokyo Game Show here in a few months. We will keep you updated on this as soon as more is available.

Comebine the two: add from the second into the first what the first lacks.
