Hmmm, strange. First off how does it not look special IT IS CG FOR CHRISTS SAKE, it CANNOT look any better!
Secondly, the story behind it has inspired 4 novels and now 5 announced games AND it has sold 14 million copies when there were only a maximum of 24 million Xboxs in use.
If you don't like Halo, go away. Quite simple you know!
ALSO: I won't be telling anyone my information on here because it doesn't follow the "PS3 is KING, nothing could ever compare, even 4 generations later" form that must be followed on this site. PM me and I will release some little snippets....maybe ;)

If this is truly from the teaser ad, I have a feeling that Halo 3 is much
closer to release than expected, I certainly wouldn't mind a summer launch of the game :)
Even if the screen is CGI, it absolutely achievable ingame IMO...
There are different levels of CGI just like games...there are out of this world amazing ones, and there are also good ones...
That is a good one and it will be achievable in Halo 3...Mark my words...

theres already a pic that bungie made where MC looks that textured. that looks like it have 10x more pixels than in-game. its the enviroment that gets me psyched and bungie is known for putting a ton of easter eggs in their pictures

Boy are you optimistic. First of all the beauty of the Killzone 2005 trailer (Even though the first game sucked ass, so I have no hopes for the sequal) was the animations and animations at the caliber will never be seen in on the fly game play.
Secondly the "News" you are referring to was by good ol' bull**** artist phil harrision who said "aspects of it where living up to the trailer" From a PR spinner that is meaningless, he could be talking about the voice overs.
Thirdly anything that beautiful with MC in it=sex...

I think I've seen basically all the screens and the image I posted is dated Nov. 16th 2006.
Here's one of the latest screens and still it can't touch the CGI trailer.

Anyways, the screenshot looks really good. It's just too bad Mr. Chief looks like **** in the actual game though.
Honestly looking at motorstorm they are using a lot of tricks to make it look good...alot of motion blur(I think) and low res textures at far...
Am I missing something?
BTW, why should be believe the devs that claim that Killzone 2 looks as good as the trailer when originally they claimed the trailer was gameplay? Should we really listen to them? I'm sure the game will still have amazing graphics in the end, but until they show us what gameplay looks like I do not believe them.

I really think you should drive down to your local best buy and try the game out for yourself because it doesn't seem like you have played it yet. I played it today and it comes no where near the E305 trailer much less surpass it. But what else would u expect from a near launch title?

Yeah, I'm expecting it to be a great game also. I just want to reserve jugdement until we see some gameplay and get some more details. It's hard to believe them when they are the ones who tried to pass the E305 trailer off as gameplay.

I doubt it, the Single-Player in-game shot of Halo 3 posted on B.net is crappy compared to this. I just hope that Bungie can promise what they deliver because I'm scared that Bungie won't follow through.
I have more faith in bungie following thru then my faith in killzone 2 living up to its video

Bungie will follow through. Halo2 looked amazing on the xbox, looked better then alot of PC games at the time. It also had no loading times and still has the best multiplayer setup for any console game. There is over 100 people working on halo3, the game will be in development for 3 years, no doubt MS will give then unlimited funding for the game and the ability to do whatever they want for the 360. The fact that you can record every match using the game engine and also keep the vid files extremely strong just states once again bungie is taking the huge leap in the multiplayer modes.

And also theyve never played the game and they knock it jus because its known as one of the greatest of all time.
Also ppl like this guy cant even afford to purchase more than 1 old gen system, prolly jus had a lamestation 2 or a lamecube, i had all 3 old gen systems and xbox wins by far

I played both Halo 1 and 2, but I also played alot of PC fps as well...Halo did not revolutionize the genre in any shape or form...however, it was an excellent fps for a console and the first one of its kind to finally get it "right"!
p.s. I can't wait till beta testing starts on the third one ;-)

This is a tough one and I would know. I personally have a ton of insider knowledge right now but I decide not to talk about it any more since I can never really say anything about it with out some major risk, especially here.
I used to be more open but when there is no proof online there i no point in telling what it is since most people won't believe you plus there is no point putting your job/friends/contacts at risk of a security leak just to please some people on a forum. It's unfortunate but true.

I highly doubt that, it may have a quieter fan and be smaller bigger HDD, but I doubt a better graphics card or ram, would be a HUGE blow to the 360 fans who own the current model.

The screen looks great, but I personally don't care about Halo's graphics all that much. I still go back and play Halo 1 and it's as fun now as it was then. I'd rather have a game that's a ton of fun and has great replay value than some pretty game that lacks substance.

It looks like real-time asset. I can't recall Bungie using a single CGI cutscene in any of the Halo series, I don't think they would start now, especially since CGI @ 720p would eat DVD's like theres no tomorrow.
The image doesn't look that technically impressive, well not enough to believe it's CGI anyway. Master Chief looks impressive but it also looks on par with what is expected from next gen character models, the wart hog looks ok and the gun while out of focus doesn't exactly look hugely impressive. The scene is quite baron in terms of complex geometry so putting the focus on MC, the only thing that's technically all that impressive appears to be the HDR lighting they have used in what looks to be the desert illuminating.
I'm definitely going with real time, but I'm also of the belief that if the picture was any less impressive I be more concerned about what the Xbox360 is capable of, which I'm really not after seeing video's of Mass Effect, Bioshock and Alan Wake and having been playing Gears of War.

Assets could mean anything. Probably the geometry model for the Master Cheif to assure realistic recreation of him; same for Warthog.
I am not saying that graphics like that are not possible this generation but this isn't running real-time. There are other "Weekly updates" from previous weeks that explain that is CG to convey the Halo world the way Bungie really wanted...kinda hinting at CG pre-rendered, doesn't it?

Bungie already stated that the CG trailer, even though it is CG would be using in game asset.
