I am just remembering my track and field times and crap and I figured it would be a good topic. these are my grade 8 times(I am going into grade 9):

100m: 13.11 seconds

200m: 26.05 seconds

400m: 1 minute 6 seconds

and I can't remember my field events because I am more into track

Sound like pretty good times, I was always into football in highschool...never track. To slow for it really.

For your age thats pretty good. I think you should aim to break 12 secs on the 100, 24 on the 200 and 55 on the 400. Then I would be very impressed, but for your age I think those times are mighty impressive.

Well I can probably beat all my times now and probably beat all the ones you named morph except for maybe the 400 m

Well since this is a thread about personal achievements I'll list one of mine that just occured today.

When I first started running this summer I could barely manage a mile and a half in 13:30. Today I ran a mile in a half in 8:40! Thats about 5 minutes off my original time. Im quite happy with where my running is at this point. 8)

That's quite a significant improvement B.

Does anyone do long jump or triple jump as a track and field event?

My. PB is around 6m for long jump and about 13.50 for triple jump.

Well Track is coming back I beat my old records I would of done better but my shoes sucked for my last meet. The bad thing is I did not train at all almost the only reason that I am in reasonable shape now is because Hockey just ended
100M 12.0920
200M 25.8
400M 57.47
I just got new spikes for sprinting so it should lower my time even more but I guess we will have to wait till next wednsday to find out, wish me luck.

By the way sorry for double post but I wanted to move this back to first page

Well i think my best for 100ms is 12 flat. However i dont like doing track, i remember i was running the 3000 metres at school and i was kinda bored so i got out a mars bar and started eating it during the race. My teacher chased me off the track (he was pretty pissed off). But i did score 10 goals for hockey in 40 minutes. Every time i took a shot it would go in.

Well you also become better as you get older, your form becomes better and infact you run alot faster. I started running for cross country (running around the freaking city and up the hills) and noticed my freshman year time flew slow and as each year went on i got better.

You have to do training to stay fit however. During when i was playing in the Under 17's Soccer for scholl each training session we would have to do a 2km run, 200 squats, 100 squat kicks, 20 Hill runs, 100 pushups and a hundred situps (He was a really big fitness freak....and also most of the team was pretty shit at soccer at the time so he decided to work on our fitness). The problme was for some reason he got it in his head that i was really fit and i should make an example for the rest of the team. So during training i would have to do 1 1/2 times as much as everyone else while still staying equal with everyone. Thank god he left after a year.

Yea well I had Relay today at my school.... My team got butchered.. we lost our best runner due to a leg injury so we had to substitiute with a guy who really can't run well and it was his first time doing relay so we ended up getting murdered by the other teams so we got 6th such as sad loss but what can you do?

CNN on PlayStation 3 Marketing Strategies

In an article written earlier today, CNN Money has rolled out more speculation regarding the fate and marketing strategies of the PlayStation 3.

Begining the article with "If Sony suffers any more missteps in bringing its PlayStation 3 video game console to market, its entire consumer electronics business strategy could be in jeopardy", writer Peter Lewis gives some insight into the production costs of the PlayStation 3 and forecasts a rewarding victory if Sony plays their cards right.

Unlike most critics, Lewis feels that the inclusion of a Blu-ray player in the PlayStation 3 gives Sony an Blu-ray an edge over HD-DVD, another high-def movie format competing in the format war. "Sony could win big by populating the world with millions of Blu-ray high-definition DVD players, tipping the advantage to Sony in the battle to establish Blu-ray as the global standard for next-generation DVD systems, over the rival HD-DVD format supported by Toshiba and Microsoft", he writes.

However, Lewis admits that the cost of the PlayStation 3 is on the high side. Quoting Merrill Lynch's production cost estimates of $715 for the PlayStation 3, Lewis feels that Sony is taking a large hit with each PlayStation 3, which is going to be retailing for $499 and $599 when it launches later this year.

"But the Blu-ray Disc high-definition DVD player and the Cell microprocessor [... are forcing] Sony not just to delay the PS3 to the brink of the 2006 holiday season [and] also to price the basic and enhanced PS3 consoles at $499 and $599, respectively, much higher than any previous game machines and at least $200 above their next-generation rivals, Microsoft's (Research) Xbox 360 and Nintendo's Wii", he writes.

The PlayStation 3 is Sony's potential ticket to console war winner, featuring the most sophisticated hardware this generation. Sony hopes that potential customers will see the PlayStation 3's true value as not just a gaming machine, but as a media hub as well.

The launch date for the PlayStation 3 has been announced as November 11th for Japan and November 17th for North America, Europe and Australia.
