Burn After Reading 3/10
Complete and utter rubbish. One of the worst movies I have ever seen. Which for such a star studded cast is a real let down.
obviously neither of you understood the satire...

I think everyone understood it! The film just had a lot of hype behind it, hence the reason for the popularity. I was so disappointed in this film and I so wanted it to be awesome. It just sucked.

'Collateral' - watched it before but as it was on TV, I thought I'd check it out again.
Pretty good story and I liked Michael Mann's camera techniques. Gave it a more realistic feeling. It's sorta gotten me to want to watch 'Heat' again (great film that is).

has Justin Long (mac from the mac/pc commercials) as a redneck with a huge mullet, in need of a quick $1000, so he plans a sasquatch hoax. made the same people that made Napoleon Dynamite.

Watchmen - 11/10
I finally got around to watching it... probably one of my favorite movies of all time, IF NOT my favorite. It was 100% true to the novel. Everything was perfect. The cast, the visuals, the dialogue, EVERYTHING. The soundtrack is a bit random lol, but it's still great. I could not be anymore satisfied, and I don't know how any fan of the novel could not like it.

Doomsday -7.5/10- Not a bad film, plenty of action and gore. Rhona Mitra and Craig Conway play there roles well. Neil Marshall gives the film a Escape from NewYork/Mad Max feel which is cool but the whole situation with Malcom Mcdowell's character seems a bit dumb. Nice chase scene toawrds the end though...

It was a really good film and I try to get my friends to watch it but they refuse simply because it's Star Trek :(
Anyway
Survive Style 5+ 8.5/10
My first live action Japanese movie, it was hilariously random. I loved the art style and the fact Vinnie Jones is in it is incredibly funny and random. The whole film was just so weird. I'd definitely recomend it to people that like foreign films.

'Blade Runner' - just watched it for the first time, surprisingly.
Thought it was a bit odd. Was expecting Harrison Ford and Rutger Hauer to have more than one confrontation. However, I loved Hauer's speech before he "expired". The music was great too.

Taken 8/10- Liam Neeson plays the part amazing as usual and he's such a badass. The movie started to get me to question whether or not the daughter would be alive at the end (or near it I should say) especially after he finds her friend. And the directing really shows all the details on his journey. With only two parts that got me a little iffy.

Green Lantern: First Flight
It was actually very good but i wish they could have added a extra 13 minutes to have more character development for Hal before he turns into GL. I say 13 because the movie is 1 hour and 17 minutes long and if they just made it an hour and a half they could made that part much better.

AVP:R -7/10- Compared to the previous film, this one comes out on top, especially as the Strauss brothers decided to just go all out on the gore and pay homage to Predator and Aliens. Acting wasn't all that but this is a good film to watch late at night, only complaint is that the film seemed to be shot too dark in some scenes...

The Hurt Locker 8/10 - I enjoyed how the film was shot and the actors played their roles well, but I didn't care for the characters. It seemed like a modern version of Apocolypse Now, in that it was trying to imitate people that have issues from war just to try and make things interesting.
I enjoyed Guy Pearce's character much more than the ridiculous replacement.
'The Matrix Reloaded' - having now understood the first one properly I thought I'd watch the second one again, which now makes sense to me itself.
The character of 'Merovingian' annoyed me. He dialogue just seemed so boring. Other than that the fight scenes were excellent and I remember enjoying these when I initally saw it in the cinema.
I think I prefer the first one though. Now I need to watch the third one, for the first time... ever!

Funny People: 8/10
After the success of Knocked Up, I thought that Judd Apatow would have another film out within a year. To my surprise and delight he waited, and I think it shows with this latest film. Funny People is by far his darkest film, and in my opinion a very good character study about what fame can do to a person. Adam Sandler gives his best performance in lord knows how long, and the rest of the cast is stellar. Jonah Hill (who I could watch for days) and Jason Schwartzman are fantastic as the roomates of star Seth Rogan, and the back and forth between the three gives the film some of its most memorable moments. Seth Rogan himself disappointed me, but it's probably because I was expecting the same kind of character he usually plays, as opposed to the timid, and at times very unfunny Ira. His characterization is spot on, so I can't fault him for that, but he is outshined by the rest of the cast. There are also some fantastic cameos, Eminiem and James Taylor in particular are great.
My main fault with the movie deals with the last act. It really seems like once the Adam Sandler character gets better his character moves backward. One of the best parts of the first two acts was to see him grow, and start living again. To see him just jump back is depressing, though incidentally fairly true to life. The great part of the last act is the introduction of Eric Bana's character, who is absolutely hilarious.

Transporter 3 Review
Basics - 8.5 (No Spoilers)
Great movie! Not the best action film ever, but definitely a must see. The Transporter (Frank) is forced to deliver a package, along with a girl, to a dedicated location for unspecified reasons. Both Frank and the girl must remain within 75 feet of the car at all times, or device hooked around their wrists explodes.

The Lake House - 8.5/10
Chick flick or not, it was really entertaining, and had an interesting concept. But there was one thing I was a bit confused about:
Were you supposed to figure out that Keanu Reeves' character gets hit by the bus at the end of the "story" while still in the middle of the film? Either they made it really obvious or I just got lucky, but even then, he ended up not dieing at the end, which made it all good :D

Last House On The Left 7/10
Ill say this first , the rape scene was just uncalled for , there wasnt any need for that what so ever , what disturbed , idiot producer thinks putting that in there was a good idea.
Lame , predictable and unoriginal , its what i have come to expect with all recent horrors as of late.
Apart from that it was okay , though the story doesnt actually start up untill the last 30 minutes , the other hour is just pure nonsense that doesnt make any sense what so ever.

American Gangster- 10/10
Now i've heard some mixed reactions to this movie, and I must say I don't think that. American Gangster is a perfect gangster film. A rise and fall film, but it is done better than both Empire and Carlito's Way put together.

Dragonball:Evolution- 5/10
Thought it was OK for big fans like me but the acting was terrible.
Dragonball Evolution - 2/10
Gotta be the worst of 2009. I wanted to enjoy this film because I used to watch it when I was younger. But the acting was terrible, some scenes i just wanted to laugh and cry at the same time at how bad it was. The effects were pretty cheap too, again more noticeable in certains scenes. Story wasn't explained enough and there wasn't any character development. Terrible film.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - 8/10
Not my usual kind of film. I liked the story, although it isn't too hard to figure out. Not sure if it was meant to be easy. Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet played their parts very well. I'd definitely recomend it!

I've seen quite a few films recently:
Revolutionary Road: 9/10.
An satisfying ride of emotions, and not one seems to be misplaced. :)
Adventureland: 9/10.
A very funny movie. Like an all around better Superbad.
Duplicity: 8/10
Good movie, can be a little confusing (I thought). But will do the trick for those who like twists!
He's Just Not That Into You: 8/10.
A great movie on modern dating.
Burn After Reading: 8
A good movie all around.
Echelon Conspiracy: 7/10.
Not the best chase thriller, but it wasn't bad.
Fast and Furious: 7/10
Not my favorite F&F, but it was ok. I could clearly tell what was CGI and it looked like the only things that werent was the people and their cars.
The Last House on the Left: 6/10.
A decent thriller, the killing scenes were good.

There Will Be Blood -10/10- Gotta love this film, mainly for Daniel Plainview, oustanding performance from Day-Lewis. By far the end is the best part for me, from when Eli shows up in the Bowling room...
'Mission: Impossible II' - I've never watched a Mission: Impossible film all the way through. As this was on, and being watched by others in my household I thought I'd just watch it.
It felt like a Michael Bay film - lots of what I thought, needless slow-mo. I was expecting an action-fest but there was only really any action towards the end of the film.
Thandie Newton was pretty hot, but overall I wasn't impressed.

Cashback 9/10 - The more times I see this movie, the more it impresses me. Absolutely lovely and brilliant. (warning: plenty of nude scenes, just thought you should know. But they all add to the beauty of the movie)
Funny People- 7.5/10. Funny movie, I really really liked but not loved it. I wish the stories were better transitioned, that's the only real knock on this film. Judd Apatow doesn't disappoint.
500 Days Of Summer- 7.5/10. Overall a good film, good storytelling and just enough laughs. The ending was a kicker.

"Official Thread" Etiquette & Posting Guidelines
Official Game Threads:
When making an Official Thread for a certain game, be sure to follow these guidelines:
1. Include lots of information about the game in the Original Post. Give us videos, screenshots, impressions, important links/websites, release dates, and any other important information concerning the game. DO NOT make an Official Thread that has little to no information* (*Subject to lock).
Example of an acceptable Official Game Thread. (http://playstationuniversity.com/forum/showthread.php?t=33)
Example of an unacceptable Official Game Thread [Coming soon].
.
2. Do not create an Official Thread too far in advance. Most developers release very little information about their games until they get closer to the release date. Official Threads should be created when the amount of information being posted is exceptionally high, not when we barely know anything about the game.
We've decided that Official threads for games are to be made no sooner than 1 month before release. OTs created more than 1 month before release are subject to lock.
.
3. Make the title of your Official Thread clear and concise. The thread title should be easy to comprehend and apply directly to the game at hand.
Acceptable titles: "The Official Uncharted 2: Among Thieves Thread" / "Uncharted 2: Among Thieves: The Official thread of Naughty Gods have done it again!"
Unacceptable title: "The Super-Duper Awesome Thread of Nate Drake's Misadventures"
As you can see, the last title does not directly indicate which game the thread applies to. Please add the name of the game to your title, so that it will be picked up in the search.
Note: These rules do not apply to threads created the the Dorm Rooms section.

2. Action...

4. Great thriller...
5. Those old dudes inside the vatican smoke...

Yea, sacrificing ourselves to save our children. But it's the whole idea of "when the end days come, don't resist to give your children to a bunch on dodgy aliens" that I don't see as the right way.

G.I. JOE: The Rise Of Cobra -5/10- As a fan of the cartoon and comic I found the film kind of a disappointment. The good:
Sienna Miller as Baroness
The fight scenes between young Snake-Eyes & young Storm Shadow
The whole Eiffel Tower action sequence
The Bad:
Cobra Commander
Destro
Heavy Duty's british accent
Cover Girl's death
Breaker being a French frog
I haven't seen the comic nor the cartoon, but G.I Joe was a blast experience for me.
The effects the story the characters were all good. I loved the movie a lot. Characters background was rich.
I recommend it to all.
'The Matrix Revolutions' - finally saw this one all the way through for the first time, as I thought I'd try and fully understand the whole trilogy.
I think that this one is better than the second film, which had a bit too much needless dialogue. This one was more action based and finally showed the war being played out.
Fight scene at the end was pretty epic, but I guess you can also do a lot with CGI these days - didn't look bad though. I thought backing track for this scene was awesome too.
All in all, I liked it and have enjoyed the trilogy.

The Last House on the Left - 8/10
This remake is a prime example of how "Revenge Cinema" is the new "in" sub-genre in Horror.
To those who haven't seen the original I can suggest to watch this remake without thinking it's a remake. To me, it was very hard not to compare both.
While the original has brutal, sadistic, and cruel violence; this remake was very toned down. Don't get me wrong, I'm not supporting raping, cruelty, and extreme violence; but the movie's plot and message justifies it.

It was okay love story, the comedy was good, I just love Jennifer Aniston. It just Jennifer didn't do much in the movie.

Well, I watched a few movies recently:
Public Enemies - 8/10
Great Actors, good action and imo an interesting story, although the pacing wasn't that good in the first half. Director's cut pls ^^
The Bourne Ultimatum - 10/10
Perfect action movie with awesome action and suspense scenes and it's not overlong.
In the Mouth Of Madness - 9/10
Surprisingly great yet underrated psychological Horrormovie from the master John Carpenter. Watch it!
Taking of Pelham 123 - 7/10
Worth a watch, with some suspense and good actors.
Vacancy - 6.5/10
Generic Thriller, thankfully with adult character and it even manages to create suspense.
Secret Window - 7.5/10
Predictable, yet suspenseful thriller with a great Johnny Depp.
Session 9 - 8/10
Yet another good movie from the underrated indie-director Brad Anderson. This Psycho-Thriller has got some great actors, good suspense, interesting story and surprise ending.
Jacob's Ladder - 7.5/10
Interesting Movie but the ending doesn't convince me.
Funny People 7.5/10 not really a comedy, but it wasn't bad.
G.I Joe 4/10 piece of garbage in my opinion horrible acting and storyline was dumb.Best thing about the movie was Baroness acting .
The guy that played Duke was horrible choice and even thought i like Marlon Waynes, He was also the wrong choice for Ripcord

The quirky, awkward humor is there, the teen party humor is there, the love humor is there. One thing this movie has that Superbad didn't though, is a truly heart felt and believable love story that gives Adventureland a bit of a more serious tone.
The Duchess - 7/10
Keira Knightley's period drama for the year 2008 is a well-crafted one, but lacking in anything new and exciting. The Dutchess is your run-of-the-mill tale of unrequited love amidst the artifice of a marriage of utility.

Snatch - 9.5/10
Seen it before and still loved it watching it again. All the characters have their own great personality and the sory is brilliant. Guy Ritchie is a god.

Transformers (2007) - 10/10
the main difference if the first one from the second one is that this one is a much much serious movie than the second... with less sexual jokes for cheap laughs, this is far better than Revenge of the Fallen...

District 9 - 9/10
Great film, much better than I had expected it to be, not a typical alien movie, unique storyline and actually kind of emotional at times

Dodgeball - 7/10
Not the funniest film I've ever seen but I still love it. Ben Stiller is so stupid in this film and it cracks me up everytime!
The Last Kiss - 8/10
Very good, emotional drama which concentrates on the relationships between the different characters. Being a massive scrubs fan, Zach Braff was the biggest reason i watched this film and he is excellent as the lead but the supporting cast are just as good. Top acting all round, interesting and quirky script as well as a great soundtrack, i would recommend this film highly, although action buffs may want to stay away.

Inglourious Basterds - 9/10
A huge amount of the points go to the opening scene. It was incredibly well shot, and the dialog was probably the best of the movie, at least when it comes to the serious moments.
As for the rest, well it's great. The acting superb. A lot of people keep saying that Pitt's character falls flat and starts off great but ends up just being more of the same. And while the character is more of the same, why should he even change? I don't expect him to change given the story of the movie. And had the movie gone with a typical Hollywood ending, there probably would have been a change in his character that would have taken away from the overall feel his character gives off, except it wouldn't have been a good change at all.
Anyways, go see it. If you like dialog it's a great movie.

City of Ember - 7/10
Cool family movie Overall, this was an "okay" film not bad but nothing that memorable.
Doubt - 8/10
Strong performances are the saving grace of "Doubt," an otherwise uneven, overly glib tale of possible sexual abuse in one New York City parish circa 1964.

Inglourious Basterds - 9/10
A good break from the usual hollywood structured movies. Scenes were as long as they needed to be to fully absorb each situation and the actors played them out wonderfully.
Brad Pitt doesn't an excellent job portraying his character and doesn't let up.
Inglourious Basterds-10/10
Absolutely loved it, great acting, story telling and just about everything else. Long movie but I never wanted it to stop, only complaint was not enough of Pitt and the rest of the basterds.
Shinjuku Incident - 8.5/10
Pretty different from the usual Jackie Chan'.

District 9 - 10/10
Perfect movie in my book! One of the best ones I've seen this year. It had great character developement, story and vibe.
One thing that put me off though is when they mentioned, interracial sex with the aliens, my girlfriend and I were put off from that note.
Other than that its a great movie! Awesome weapons! Check out the Star Craft's Goliath near the end.
Frontier(s) - 8/10
Not quite as gruesome as Martyrs but it was still disturbing.
Sort of like a French Hostel-type film but on a much smaller scale.
Still great if you like those sort of films which I do.
The Rocker 5/10
few laughs, but it was ok at best

District 9 - 9/10
The entire movie was very intriguing, very original story. Had me locked until the end. It didn't seem to finish off the story nicely/in a satisfying way at all.
Sequel?
Edit: MY NAME IS ORANGE! WTF!??!
'The 40 Year Old Virgin' - this film actually did make me laugh quite a bit. I liked the rows the employees of the electronics store had. Normally I just see these as an excuse to try and add some humour, but I actually found it funny, as well as the whole film really. It was a good watch.
Kat Dennings... DAMN! Elizabeth Banks... DAMN!
Ha!

Miracle at St. Anna
Definitely one of my favorite spike lee joints,

Just got back from watching this and along with Watchmen it's my favorite film of the year so far. It does what a film is supposed to do in that it's entertaining.
8/10
'The Wrestler' - second viewing. This film really means a lot if you're a wrestling fan, which I guess I am. Can be a little slow but I really like the ending, in a sad way though.
Good film, especially if, like I say, you're a wrestling fan.
