What the hell is that Will Farrell trying to do? He's done like 10 movies under 10 years! lol.

Maybe the worst long boring film ever?
That award goes to Spiderman 3. At least you have some decent acting and interesting dialogue in PotC, Spiderman just stabbed the action genre repeatedly in the heart and tap danced on it's corpse for 3 hours.
Just watched Loaded Lampoon's Loaded Weapon 1 for the millionth time. I swear this movie is still the best player in the parody game hands down.
9/10 only because it didn't feature Robin Williams or Rowan Atkinson >_>

Hamilton (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119249/) 7.0
A quite nice spy action movie.
Features some good and famous actors as well. ;)
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoniex: 6/10
I really can't decide if Goblet of Fire or Order of the Phoniex deservers the worst book to movie adaptation. Probably Order of the Phoniex, especially since it was only 2hrs and 18mins. Longest book yet shortest movie makes no sense. Anyways, seeing I Am Legend on Saturday and next week seeing National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

I Am Legend: 9.75, could of been longer and had shown Will being more ruthless after his dog died, hence the could have been longer statement, otherwise excellent movie.
Golden Compass: 9, entertaining enough, polar bear fight was awesome.
Alvin and the Chipmunks: 8.5 Missed the first 20 minutes, could have got a better actor for the part of Dave, still entertaining, the chipmunks were cool.

"Heartbreak Kid" - Pretty funny. I've seen people give this a bad review. It' a Ben Stiller movie, which is a comedy to boot (no offense Ben); what did you expect? A great storyline? Schindler's list?
7/10. I liked the ending. :D
8/10 - Live Free or Die Hard: reminiscent of the older films and Mclains hot daughter was the evil villan royal pain in Sky High.
8/10 - The Incredibles: What can I say, I like super hero flicks. ^_^

I watched Steamboy on Blu-ray and the experience was phenominal. 1080p really makes all the little details in the art pop out, which might I add is fantastically done.
Unfortunately, I can't dump as much praise on its story... 7/10

The Bourne Ultimatum (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0440963/) _ 8/10
Very nice Spy movie which holds some of the best FX shots of the year.
Over 550 of FX shots and I did know that some scenes had to have them, but they were invisible.
What did annoy me was the overly shakey camera, especially in some simple conversation scenes.
i just saw the new national treasure movie...i give it a 3/10. I was really bad, there was really no point to the story
Halloween (Rob Zombie version) - 2/10. This movie was a horrible piece of ****! God, I hated it from start to finish, by far the worst or one of the worst movies I have seen all year. Anyways, seeing Sweeney Todd tomorrow :D.
Saturday Edit
Ok, just got back from seeing Sweeney Todd and here's my review:
By far the best team Burton/Depp film and the best Tim Burton film. I wasn't bored one bit when I was watching this film, it kept me entertained throughout. Now I haven't seen it on broadway so I was surprised at the ending of the film. Depp of course was amazing and the chemistry between Depp and Carter was also great. Alan Rickman was amazing as well and everyone did a good job at singing which really surprised me. Only thing I didn't like was the blood looked fake but I don't care about that as it didn't ruin the movie. Anyways, I give Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street a 10/10!
Sunday Edit
Saw National Treasure: Book of Secrets. I thought it was a pretty good movie but not as good as the first one of course. It kept me entertained atleast, they will probably make another because they didn't explain anything that was on that page in the book. Anyways, Id give it a 7/10.

I rewatched the original Evil Dead the other day, and that movie is a 10/10 if I've ever seen one. It's wonderfully scary, campy, vulgar, and gory at the same time. Not to mention the camera work, which is some of the best I've ever seen. It's no wonder Sam Raimi is doing big-budget Hollywood pictures now.
I Am Legend was a disappointment; The Last Man On Earth was much better.
I also rewatched the first Die Hard movie the other night, and that is another great flick. Action, violence, and comedy distributed perfectly. Just so good.

It's kinda hard to rate this because I saw it with my gf and it was great..but it just wouldn't be a movie I'd watch by myself. Gerard Butler (the guy from 300) was great in this movie. Perfect movie for a date.

I just watched Holy Mountain. All I can say is :suspect::shock::suspect::suspect::suspect::shock: :suspect::shock:
If you want to watch one of the weirdest movies ever made I highly recommend this for you.
Bonus* It was banned for 30 years and got the director ran out of his home country. If that isn't a vote of confidence then listen to what the back cover of his other movie El Topo (which I still need to see) says. "John Lennon sponsored him, Dennis Hopper abused him and Marilyn Manson loved him" (speaking about the director)
EDIT: For those that saw I Am Legend did you make a connection with Will and his dog and Tom Hanks and Wilson(Cast Away)? Relationship felt the same to me.

saw 1408 late last night. Some creepy bits but I definitely felt it got worse the longer it went on...it was also the directors cut which had a very different ending to the original. Overall though it was ok.
6.5/10
Resident Evil: Extinction - I enjoyed this one better then the second one but still was meh about the whole plot thing. Had great action, lots of killing and blood. The ending was a bit WTF!!!! I'd give it a 7/10.
War - I really enjoyed this movie. I liked the plot, found the whole thing about this partner pretty **** cool. I'd give it an 8.5/10.

Idiocracy - More scary than funny to me, as most of it seems to be coming true! Great display of irony on-screen, and nice product placements() 10/10!
Rescue Dawn - Another stunning performance from christian bale, great emotion invoking story. 9/10
American Pie - Good popcorn flick, but otherwise baaaad. 2/10.
3:10 to Yuma - Great acting by Bale again. His western accent was **** convincing. The characters were somewhat well developed, but the pacing of the movie is perfect! 8/10

Just watched a pair of DVDs back to back.
Zodiac: 9/10 awesome story, gripping 'til the very end. (quite a feat considering it's 2 and a half hours long and "nothing much" actually happens!)
Breach: 8/10 Actually has the same feel as Zodiac in that it's factual and that you find yourself immersed even though not a lot actually happens!

I Am Legend - The first part of the movie was amazing, AMAZING!!! Will smith did awesome acting in this one. But they screwed with the ending, I wish they'd kept the book's ending, much more fitting to the title. 6/10.
The Proposition - The best peice of western stlyle movie since clint eastwood, imo, even better. Not for all kinds of people, there is gore, and when I say gore, I mean tons of it! None of that pg-13 bull****, pure human emotions! Guy Pearce is such a great actor in this, you cant really tell if his intensions are good or bad, even after the ending. The ending brought a tear to my eye, great movie, highly recommended. 10/10!

Juno- I thought it hilarious. It's kind of quirky in a Napoleon Dynamite kind of way, but with more adult situations so it's edgier. It stars Ellen Page and that one kid from Superbad and oddly enough Jennifer Garner. I found Page's comedic timing surprisingly good and I could relate to her smart-allecky character.
I give it an 8/10. See it with some friends and have a laugh. It's not your average teen comedy.

In an odd turn of events a day of hunting after-christmas sales turned into me watching Juno with my sister. Despite my very low expectations the movie was actually pretty funny. Kinda reminded me of Napoleon Dynamite little. 7.5/10
I Am Legend: It was a fairly good movie. I liked the part were we had to walk into that building and it was pitch dark in there, was waiting for something to jump out of nowhere lol. The ending though is what pissed me off, it was good until then. Ending ruined the movie for me so I give it a 7/10.
In this thread I only rate the Blu-Rays I've seen. The last was Letters from Iwo Jima. Must say it was good, but expected more, missed the after war sequence which was in the "US version". So its a 7/10 from me.

Pearl Harbor...
Pros:
The pearl harbor bombing scene was great...
Somehow strong acting from the main cast...
Cons:

Historical inaccuracy...
Last words:
The movie is completely underrated...
Score:
8/10...
Bee Movie- I dunno maybe coz of my age but i felt it had an average storyline which they could have made better then the bees suing humans for honey. Children would enjoy the movie a lot more, but there a few parts that make you giggle. 5.5/10

I saw this last night. My gal and I loved it, I agree with everything you say. I have seen the play, and if you liked the movie I highly recommend seeing the play. Of course, it may not be in production where you live, but a stage production was filmed and put on DVD (Angela Lansbury rocks in it!) and is available on Netflix :-)
I personally prefered the movie to the play, but I'm a huge Burton fan and don't much like musical plays for the most part, so I am biased here. That being said, my gal told me a few years back that as a horror movie freak I would love the play. So I rented it from Netflix and was amazed by how hardcroe it was for an old play! Great stuff, almost as much to my liking as Burton's film.
Sweeny Todd: 9/10
Last movie Isaw was Cloverfield which I saw today. I'd give the movie a solid 8/10. Beginning was a bit boring but they needed to set the characters up and it just ended on nothing.

Dude, you gotta use the spoiler tag when you give away the ending of a movie!! Didn't spoil it for me as I've already seen the movie and am currently reading the book (which is quite a bit different from the movie BTW). Next time be more sensitive to those who haven't seen the movie though!

Cloverfield:
Pros:
It was like playing/watching a video game...
The creature is almost identical as those seen in Resistance:Fall of man...
Realism...
Not really a head-ache (because of the shacky cam) inducing movie like others say...
Cons:
The view of the movie is a bit restricted due to the camera view...
Rating: 9.5/10...

Well it's all relative. I don't give every movie I like a 9 or 10. Movies have to be extra special for me to dish out scores that high. For me, there is a difference between "good", "very good" and "great". You probably see 7.5/10 and think C+ which would is not a good grade, but 7.5 is a good score on my scale. :)

I warn people to avoid this movie like the plague. It's an overhyped piece of S**t. A dodgy cam all the way through, a shallow story and lack of back story. It's a 5/10 for me. It's alright at what it does, but people are way better off watching something like I Am Legend.

Unfortunately I had the pleasure of watching Beerfest last night. I wasnt expecting too much going into this movie. But I figured, a movie about beer drinking cant be that bad. Well, it was a pretty bad movie. I think if they would of put funnier actors in it then it might of been better. And at the end of the movie, they say, coming soon, potfest. Well now maybe that will be better because most weed movies are funny but Im not getting my hopes up. I give Beerfest a 3/10.

In Her Shoes: -10/10
Ok, you know how in a movie something is said pretty close to the start and isn't givin depth till later or close to the end of the film giving it that epic feeling? Well, thats how movies are supposed to go. the film in question is the chick flick "In Her Shoes" staring Camron Diaz and that aussie girl Toni? whatever. Well, in this film, a poem is read by Camron at a wedding which is supposed to connect the film with the audience, but this section of poem is read like 25 mintes before the credits and is then read again as voice over just as the credits roll with no real purpose..
I'm a guy, so maybe I put a little too much thought into this movie, but personally this movie fails on so many basic filimg levels I wanna burn every last trace of this film ever existing.

The Oscars are almost here, so it's time for me to scramble and see as many nominated films as I can. Watched these three today:
Juno: 8/10. Nice, offbeat movie... Ellen Page was great. I can see her winning the Oscar for Best Actress, but I don't believe Juno will win Best Picture (Atonement has a better chance).
No Country for Old Men: 8/10. I think this movie was excellent but didn't like the relatively weak ending. I see the Cohen brothers taking the director's honors for this one. I think the ending will hold it back from obtaining Best Picture. Also Javier Bardem has a good chance of getting an Oscar for his performance. He was fantastic. I'd say his was a stronger performance than Philip Seymour Hoffman's in...
Charlie Wilson's War: 7.5/10. Good performances throughout by the actors with the great Mike Nichols at the helm. It didn't impress me as much as the others but was by no means a slouch. It's a solid political movie based on true events.
Hopefully I can get through even more movies tomorrow!

Firstly, I didn't think people still made musicals? Nice change if you ask me. But the twisted plot was only icing on the human flavoured pie.
Also, no one told me this film was R rated before i started watching it, there was a fair bit of blood in this film but I feel it was needed (also I didn't mind it at all)

I watched The Mist last night and that was pretty good, screwed up ending. 9/10.
I watched this tonight as well. Maybe I was expecting too much as I'm a big fan of Stephen King and heard good things about the movie going into it, but the movie let me down.
My gripes: I found most of it to be pretty unbelievable, and I'm not talking about the monsters. Take what's-her-name: Mrs. Carmody... the nut case. You're telling me that in just a couple of days, most of the people in the store flock to her (of all people) for leadership? I don't buy it. Sure, people are scared, but come on. All of a sudden the town crazy becomes the conductor? OK. Another thing that pops out to me is the number of times people just stared at the monsters instead of doing the logical thing: RUNNING AWAY. Remember when the smart group goes outside to get to the car? They're out there with the monsters and instead of getting in the car to safety, they're standing there watching the monsters. At one point there's a spider on the car (this is when they're all finally in the car). Instead of starting up the car and punching the gas, Drayton just sits and waits. Who would do that? My first instinct would be getting out of there and fast.
Having said that, I didn't mind the ending. That's something I could actually see happening. But by the end, I didn't give a crap about the characters because they never seemed real in my mind.
The Mist: 5/10

Okay I saw No country for old men today
9/10
This is a very strange movie because it holds many different type of filming in it. It's a 70's thriller, its a chase movie, its a drama movie, action movie. And the ending was very unconventional. If you like to see critically acclaimed movies, then you will porbably give it a 10. If your like the type that can't sit threw There will be blood because it was boring you would probably give it a 6/10. But I highly recommend it. Not just that it just won the oscar for BEST PICTURE. They plot is very good but some might be turned off by the ending. The filming and cinematics were wonderful. And the acting is definetly top notch. Javier Bardem just won best supporting actor at the oscars for his role. Anyways very good movie.

The Number 23 - 7/10. Decent movie. I didn't really expect the ending. I had heard good and bad about it. Overall I think it's worth seeing.

No Country For Old Men: Really great movie, everything was so perfect in it. The acting, the story and the great camera angles. This movie really shows that Tommy Lee Jones is still an amazing actor.
But I don't understand why it ended like that though:(

Saw IV - There making a new saw film every half a year or so and i was expecting this to be a hell of a letdown, But it wasent, a great film, 8.5/10
I saw Jumper, a 6.5/10
Actions good but it was a total letdown. It had the potential to be so much more.
Death Proof 6/10
I expected more from this. It wasn't bad, but it seemed too slow. Too much dialogue. I know it's QT and everything, but I think this movie would have been better served w/ a little less long dialogue and a little more action.
I liked Planet Terror better. 7.5/10

I saw this film recently as well, the ending could have been better, but a really good film nonetheless. Not sure why the Coen brothers decided to make arguably the most important moment of the film occur off screen, but there we go.
8/10
I also saw Cloverfield recently and this was also a very good film. I liked the style it was filmed in, with the videocamera, it really made you feel like you were there, with the characters in that hell. The monster was also credible for a monster, as we didn't get told its origins, yay. Sure the film has its holes, like how the videocamera lasted at least 12 hours, but its when you pick out these holes a film really starts to come apart.
There is talk of a Cloverfield sequel, this worries me as it has the potential to completely destroy the stage that the first film has set up for it
8/10
No country for Old men - 9/10
Not that the ending sucked but I wish i payed attention more to what tommy lee jones was saying because i dont get the ending at all. The assassin guy was amazing, its obvious why he won the award.

The ending distroyed the movie for me.
The Golden Compass - 8/10, suprisingly enjoyable film even with the child actors in it, sticks to the book nicely too.

Funny Games - 8.5/10
They broke the fourth wall in the movie, but only did it about 3 or 4 times. It would've been much better if they hadn't done it at all, or if they had done it more. The effect isn't as great if you only do it a few times. Still, an amazing movie, the acting was amazing (Michael Pitt's character, Peter, was my favorite.) I'll be watching the original next week.

I watched The Hunting Party last night and that was really good, fun to watch and isn't boring. 9/10.
I'm suprised I didn't see Michael Clayton alot in this thread...
I just saw it last night. Was lost at first because I was busy on the laptop as well. But caught on soon as I put the laptop down. George Clooney as excellent in this movie. The ending was soooo champ!!
Michael Clayton: 9/10
Superbad: 8.5/10 (I love these kind of comedies. I slept on this)
Heartbreak Kid: 7/10 (I enjoyed alot because I can relate to it)
The Score: 8.5/10 (Deniro was on point. Not a big Norton fan, but he did his thing)
Watched Shrek the Third last night!
As usual a lot of effort put into it computer graphic animation wise. However, I don't think it measured up to the first two.
Still still funny enough to have a look at and definitely good for the kids.
A generous 7/10.
tonight I finally watched No Country for Old Men on Bluray...
Now I went in with the impression of a "odd ending" since I read alot of comments on this thread. But when the ending hit I was like "f*ck! no way".
First things first, this is not a normal movie. They broke alot of traditional things in this movie. It gets a flow and about 20 minutes to the end, the whole flow and style gets screwed. Then the movie gets real deep on you and you have to pay attention to the dialogue.
This movie is a perfect symbol for Life... and thats what the ending was saying to me. The whole style of the movie, that's how life is.... unexpected. Sometimes things don't go the way you plan or even expect. The 2 dreams and the conversation with the man in the wheel chair was a very good way of explaining the movie and the ending.
just based on the artistic execution of this movie... I give it a 10/10.

Do watch the original.. it's good. I haven't seen the remake, but it's by the same director so I'll definitely want to check it out.
The last movie I watched was In a Glass Cage (1987). It's a tough film to watch, but I thought it was well done. Very creepy (and at times disgusting but never exploitative) with a thought provoking ending... 7.5/10

The Invasion starring Daniel Craig and Nicole Kidman.
6/10 because there was a wet-drip of a kid sprouting out "I love you mommy" every couple of minutes. I was hoping he would get capped off around the seventh/eighth time he said this..

Hmm the slasher part ruined the whole movie, thats my opinion anyway.

1408 6/10
Really good movie, with great horror elements but unfortunately after the first half of the movie, the flashbacks ruins everything and all the horror gets completely pushed away.
Great acting from John Cusack helped the movie a lot.
The Sixth Sense 9/10
good plot

Fargo
Directed by the Coen Brothers.
Plot summary: Jerry Lundegaard is in a financial jam and, out of desperation, comes up with a plan to hire someone to kidnap his wife and demand ransom from her wealthy father, to be secretly split between Jerry and the perpetrators. Jerry, who is not the most astute of individuals, hires a couple of real losers from the frozen northern reaches of Fargo, North Dakota for the job. Then things begin to slip from bad to worse as Jerry helplessly watches on
My opinions: Fargo is a very strange movie, you sort of have to be in a weird state of mind to watch this movie. It begins with William H Macy who is playing jerry lundegaard. William H Macy in the role is perfect casting you can absolutely see in his face the desperation that he is going threw as he watches the plan to kidnap his wife to awry. The other noticeable actors in the movie are Frances Mcdormand playing a pregnant sheriff who is trying to solve the case of the missing wife and how Mcdormand ties into the plot. She does a wonderful job and I agree that she deserved her oscar for her role in the movie. The main thing behind the story is about money and how humans will crawl to the lowest of the lows to be able to get their hands on it. Mcdormand ties the movie really well with the ending speech. There is alot of violence and I don't recommend the movie fot anyone under 15. It is a movie you will have to watch more than once to be able to get the whole understanding behind the movie and motives. 9/10
Fargo is a great movie.
Just watched Gone Baby Gone.
I thought it was a really good movie, and overall is worth seeing.
About a lost little girl that a PI (Casey Affleck) is working with the police to try and find. Has some twists and surprises.
9/10
