Prolly cuz they wont manufacture the old PS2 anymore, but what the heck, same price, but smaller. I just hope it wont launch at 300$ , not many would buy it then (what a rip that would be... )

why would they launch it at 300? They said by November 1st the original PS2's WITH HDD EXPANSION BAYS will be removed to replace the new slick PS2 WITHOUT HDD EXPANSION BAYS

Why would you even imagine it's going to cost $300 to begin with? It'll be $150, just as the current model is.

You load disk's into this like PSone (toploader). Now i bet none of you expected a toploader did ya?

Now a few questions might asire.
one of which could be....There is no HDD expansion bay, so how am i going to connect my HDD to play FFXI (or for other uses)?
Well the answer to that is, sony will also be producing a slimmer external HDD, to go with the new slimmer PS2. At no extra cost ofcourse. (in other words this new slimmer, external HDD will be the same price as the current HDD).

As of the release of this new PS2, the older larger versions would not be in sale anymore. However, the older HDD will remain in sale for those who still have the older PS2.

The flip up loader isnt to surprising really, One that comes out would be impossible with the size of the new PS2 and where the power button is.

No expansion bay, and no 1394 so you can't use the external HD of old.

I will still be getting on personally, just because it will free up room in my AV center for more consoles.

Tetsuya Nomura from Square Enix has revealed the company has plans to implement the PS3's motion-sensing capabilities in its next generation games.

In an interview with gaming magazine EGM, Nomura was asked if the controller's functionality, which was announced at E3 in May, would be used in Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII.

"Yeah, we already have some ideas about how to use it."

Yoshinori Kitase, who was also being interviewed, suggested that the original plan was for FFXIII to be released on PlayStation 2, and have FF Versus XIII as the first next generation Final Fantasy title. Instead it was decided to bring both titles to the PlayStation 3.

Nomura stressed that the two games will have totally different characters set in a different worlds.

"There might be a possibility in the future to have them meet, but we're not sure about that yet."

The interview also discussed the new battle system within FFXIII. Check out the full interview at 1up (http://1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3151333).

FFXIII is currently scheduled for a 2007 release, with FF Versus XIII following the year after.
