View Full Version : What do you most want to see in Xbox2?

Quite simple. If you had one feature you would want to see in Xbox2, what would it be?

I cannot express enough that these are all out of my pretty thick skull. I am in no way implying that any or all of them will or won't be an option on the console.

This is completely unofficial, the poll results will not be turned in to anyone at Microsoft by me. It is just for fun. (intended use is to open some more discussion in the Xbox thread)

I would like to see backwards compatibilty most of all.

Dual System Compatibility (you buy games and the same disc will work on Xbox and Xbox2)
No offense, but thats sounds stupid, in that case why not stick with just the xbox and enjoy xbox2 games, but then there are another flawds....the xbox cant run xbox2 games for 2 reasons.
1)It lacks the hardware
2)it doesnt have the same codec
In other words reason #2 means , it's not possible to get forwards compatibility, and i'm certainly sure Microsoft or any other company wouldnt make a system forwards comaptibilty, becasue otherwise, they will sell terribly on the new concole they release.

Also becasue it wouldnt be much of a next gen console would it....i mean if the xbox could run xbox2 games, that measn the games must be of xbox standards and not xbox2 standards...so not really next generation is it?

What if it was possible for say the Xbox and Xbox2 versions of Madden 2006 to be included on the same DVD.

What if most games released on Xbox and Xbox2 included both versions of the game.

Then you could keep buying the games while you had Xbox, then when you got 4 or 5 games that would also work with Xbox2 and look better, ect... you could go get one and start playing them there?

Assuming that save games ect... were also allowed to be compatible

AHHHHHAAAAAA
I see what you mean...my mistake...i apologize.
i was under the impression, you meant that the xbox2 games could be played on xbox.

Yeah i guess thats a great idea. To have both the xbox2 and xbox versions of FIFA 2007 on one DVD.
My only concern is the disk space, if it were on Blu-ray (like PS3 is using), then everything would be fine and dandy.

To be honest i really dont care about backwards compatibility. The idea is to go foward not backwards new console, new games, new start. as for the pole well theres a number of things i would want. Wirless game pads would be kl hopefully some revolutionary features. ! years free sub to xbxo live would be a very good idea and some hardware on the side which comes as a package. However if i had to choose it would be some revolutionary features i like to be suprised hence my option. ;)

Consider that most Xbox and PS2 games do not exceed 1.5gb or so. (hate to say it but Nintendo wasn't entirely wrong with using the small disc this time around)

I would be that most nevt generation games won't break 3gb if they even reach that.

The few games this generation that needed more than the 4.3gb storage that the PS2 single layer DVD's support have contained a massive amount of FMV.

I question 2 things

1) Will you need that much space on Duel Layer DVD's like Xbox's that hold about 8gb?

2) Will game companies, even the likes of Square-Enix, really be utilizing FMV as much next generation? Consider that FMV's cost millions to make where as if they can render the scene in realtime (or close enough not to care) on the console, it would drop the costs to a couple hundred thousand at most.

It'd go with the revolutinary feature as long as it was practical and worth it.

anyone who picks revolutionary feature, please give an idea as to what you think would be feesable and revolutionary.

Sorry but I can't comment on this as I know too much, but I would love to see what you guys think.

I dont have a very creative mind, the only suggestion I could make is possibly a new style of gaming that really helps immerse you into the games you are playing. As for what that could be, I dont know. Basically something that makes the players interaction with each game they play that much more personal. Nothing unrealistic though you know...like actually being placed in the game atmosphere or anything redicoulous like that. The Eyetoy is a step in the right direction towards helping people interact with they're games better, I want to see that idea much much much improved upon.

it would be cool if the xbox 2 had those goggles which give u like 360 views and means u dont need a tv.

Siren do u know what the xbox 2 looks like if its been designed or do u know of any possible prototypes obviously if u did u couldnt tell me what it looks like but u could say wether it looks good or not that be great. Yes and also what department do u work in for ms?

I dont want anything like goggles or something that can completly distracct me from the outside world. I still want to have a sense of whats around me.

Hmm, you have to try those goggles though, they are absolutely fantastic! They are the equivalent of a 52inch LCD TV and they produce an extremely high quality picture. My only worry is that over prolonged periods of time they may fry your eyes. So for the time I'm with Blake with this one and normal TV's will be my screens of choice.

Beautiful. People will love it.

I don't think that the goggles would be a very good idea becasue then others can't watch you play. As for new features i would just like to see some of the little things get improved. Why don't they have scratch resistance disks yet? I always have finger prints or something else on them. It would be really neet if they put a big hard drive on the new xbox and made it so you could load the disks on the hard drive so you wouldn't have to keep switching disks. This could be done MS would just have to put a password on the disks so you could only put it on one xbox.( kind of like Unreal tournament 2004 did with their online play where you need a unique password for it to work.) You should also still be able to run the game from the disk in cause you want to play it at a frineds house. I also think too much hype goes into how good the graphics are going to be. I would much reather see improved gameplay with the next gen.

Whenever people talk about a video game system with vision goggles of any kind, I think of how big a flop the Virtual Boy was. Many factors of limited technology led to the overall demise of the Virtual Boy, though. Today, most of the problems Virtual Boy faced about 10 years ago can be solved with todays technology, so a system involving vision goggles is much more probable now.

The last option on that poll greatly bothers me for some reason. It must be VERY revolutionary :suspect:

As for the googles idea, you can't knock it 'til you try it [if something like that ever comes to be].

Why not tell us is there a reason why? I have been trying to figure this out since I started believing you worked for microsoft along with a few other things but I guess it is the mystery known as siren(you can still tell me though:p I promise I wont tell  )

I picked the revolutionary option.. what i suggest would be something like something wireless where xbox 2 could possibly intercept your phone and you could just click A to accept the call and it would come through your TV speakers or headset and you could talk back. or a FM cable to recieve radio signals (or do it through online some way) Or something were you could have it plug into the back of the computer.. not to hack or anything but for a quicker and more direct way to transfer files, videos, pictures. AND also i would hope insome way they include a way to use outside memory devices if they dont decide to do something.. cause i have an 20 Gig Ipod and a 40 Gig MP3 player and i could use those like i do now to store stuff on.

Free Xbox live subscirption. Everyone has pretty much accepted that Sony is going to charge for the next gen online, so a free Online subscription would go along way towards getting buissness from...

Free Xbox live Subscription wouldnt really be a that great of an idea.. just cause people are getting an xbox 2 doesnt mean they have broadband, or that they plan on getting broadband. And plus they already offer free 2 month trials for it in nearly any xbox live game.. so people could try it out if they wanted to. Plus for everyone who buys it thats giving away 50 dollars for a year.. so they wont start to gain that money back till atleast a year has gone buy depending on weither or not that person will even use the subscription.

I would love to have backward compatibility. Many of my friends gather over on the weekend for a Halo LAN party and many of us our planning on getting Xbox2. If theres no good multiplayer launch games, and since most of us will sell our Xboxs for the Xbox2, it could be a long time waiting till Halo3. So I would pick this as the feature I really want to see in Xbox2.

What about LAN in a box?? You could hook two Xboxs up for 16 players right? Well, what if 16 was supported right out of a single box? 16 people on 1 screen? Nope, dual video out... all the high end graphic cards have 'em now... so why not X2? LAN in a box. Also, if the controllers are wireless... well, then you could have 16 controllers connecting to one X2 no problem.

P.S. If M$ uses my idea, will I get paid? ^^

Ninja Gaiden Black for PS3?
By: Justin Pinter

In the most recent issue of EGM (Electronic Gaming Monthly), there was a small bleep about Ninja Gaiden Black being ported to the PS3 this next spring. There has not been any offical confirmation from Tecmo or Team Ninja and knowing EMG, their rumor section lately has not been very resourceful.

Team Ninja is perfectly capable of being this whispering rumor to truth and have Ninja Gaiden become multiplatform. There were statements earlier this year from Tomonobu Itagaki, head of Team Ninja stating that he would wait and see what Sony will offer before he makes any decisions. Knowing Team Ninja and their hunger for incredible graphics they must have been impressed this year with showing of the PS3.
