Man, I just noticed I have too many animes to actually watch more of that are still on my computer. Such as Hayate no Gotoku, Tokimeki Memorial, Murder Princess, Monster Princess, Lucky Star, Shinkyoku Soukai Polyphonica, Zero no Tsukaima 2nd Season, and a whole load of others. Maybe I should just buckle down and watch them.
I had that problem as well a couple of weeks ago but then I just went and cleared out a bunch of them. Hayate, at 52 or eps, was way too long for me for an anime that wasn't particularly special. Polyphonica was a mess as well. I do like Tokimeki Memorial though, although the fansubbers have been taking their sweet time on it.
I've been disappointed that most of the spring and summer anime that interested me have turned out to be crap.

I actually liked the OP to Elfen Lied. Artsy, good music and nudity make a good combo. :D
Eclipse has subbed Claymore all the way to episode 19. Find them over at Mininova or any other torrent site.
Lay off the liquor, Phaded.
Thanks, downloading it right now. :-)

Well it seems that Tokimeki Memorial is finished coming out with episodes. It took them a while, but at least they threw like the last 4 episodes at you in like a weeks time.

I don't know man, I've had my favorites too. I would have to say it might be the 3rd Bleach opening, with the song by High and Mighty Color, which is an awesome song. Another would have to be Lucky Star, I love that opening, so fast, funny, and well drawn. Another has to be the beginning of Ergo Proxy, love the song, love the art; Monoral is amazing with their work. Another good one is the opening for Ah! My Goddess Seasons 1 and 2, always liked that song. There are a few others, but I have to think about them.
I was drunk last night >_>, anyway i like Lucky Star, Elfen Lied, Shakugan no Shana, 1st Bleach, 1st Naruto openings. Ghost in the Shell 1st and 2nd Gig openings are my ultimate favorites though.

Isnt the 3rd one with the screaming at the end?
I think that is the worst bleach intro out of the 6 that are out now.

I've always liked it, probably because I listen to some screaming music myself.
I thought the 1st Bleach opening was better with the Asterisk song.

I hated the second Death Note intro, not only was the first one more artistic especially the part where light is in front of a god statue emphasizing on him wanting to be a god, but it also had a better song
And I watched the first episode of Doki Doki School Hours and that stuff was hilarious too bad it took me 2 days just to download the first episode :P

Kara no Kyoukai is coming out XD. Alright, some of you may know that I'm like the biggest Tsukihime buff on this entire forum XD. So... yeah. Kara no Kyoukai was made by the same writer as a "prototype" to Tsukihime...
And the artwork/art direction is so **** good XD. I love the lighting in the trailer and the music! Feels so darn cinematic and epic!

Code-E is surprisingly good. I'm surprised that more people aren't watching it. I also saw the raws for Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan yesterday and disappointingly, it's a lot different than the OVA. I hope it gets better because I liked the original series.

It's not a show, it's 4 movies that are based off of the fan works called Evangelion-R and the first movie will be dubbed and released in mid-December. Evangelion-R is 52 episodes long (or 54, something like that) and the first movie covers the first 12 episodes. And don't count on a fan sub. They already stated that they would sue the **** out of anyone who tries to do so. There was a 10 minutes trailer for it at Otakon, but I didn't go to that trailer.

Just finished ep 7 of School Days. Even though Makoto scored a few points in this episode, he lost even more because of his indecisive attitude. All I can say is that he is in some deep fecal matter right now, and it's probably the unintentionally funny thing I've seen in a while.
At the very end would've been a great time to twist the plot with some crazy Higurashi stuff. :)

Yes you do. All of the "serious" people have lists (maybe? I just felt like saying that.)
It's good that we have this sort of a hangout. Ratings on websites such as ANN only go so far. It's much nicer to have a place where you can ask multiple people their personal opinion about a certain anime and whatnot. It gives you a nice sense of community here on the forum, knowing others have similar interests as you besides gaming.

I don't mind you saying serious people have lists, I used to, but watched them all, and haven't made one in years because I could rarely find more than one at a time to watch, but with suggestions from trusted sources, a la' regulars of this thread, and high speed internet and all. Well, this is the first time since 9th grade I feel I actually need a list! Ranma; started watching it in 8th or 9th grade, and it's been pretty bone dry for me since then, because I just got high speed internet last October, and use many sources that didn't exist before last year, so I had no way of knowing most of them existed. I completely agree.

I find that keeping a list helps me keep track of what I'm watching. Since I'm often watching more than one series at a time, it's easy to forget which episode I left off on or which series I've completed. You won't believe how many times I've found an interesting anime, and I check it against my list only to find that I've already seen it. It's especially hard to keep track of anime because most of the names are Japanese, and since it's not my native language, it's harder to remember.
I'm in a slump right now anyway. I can't get myself to watch any of the ones building up in my to-be-watched list... That being said, I can't wait till October. :D

and a good goal is just a matter of opinion besides the execution is what decides if a person is a villain or not

Ever here of Dragon Ball/Z/GT? Z alone has about 280, Dragon Ball has 100 + I think so we are up to 380, and I will say GT is another 50 at least. Now I want to know how many there are, lol. Time to do some research!
EDIT:
Dragon Ball: 153 episodes.
Dragon Ball Z: 276 episodes. (But, I am pretty sure that is just the shortened American versions, 300 + in Japan maybe?)
Dragon Ball GT: 64 episodes.
So, now the total is at least 493, and I'm pretty sure if you go with the uncut versions you hit somewhere around 520 maybe?

I think the Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex dubs are the best myself, Bebop comes close 2nd though.
I haven't seen the dubbed version of GITS:SAC but I heard they were good too. Samuari Champloo also has fantastic dub. I think Mugen's voice fits him perfectly.
Watched episode 7 of Potemayo. Still random. Still funnier than hell.

Onegai Teacher (or Please Teacher) has 13 episodes total. You might want to try searching under its Japanese name to find more episodes. It's a great series, and easily one of my favorites.
Onegai Twins (again, Please Twins) is a spinoff I guess of Onegai Teacher. I don't think it's as good as Onegai Teacher but it's definitely worth watching.

I really enjoy Ghost in the Shell. However I find that sometimes the story line can become a little bit too political. This isn't always a bad thing though. I quite like deep, meaningful story lines at times.
Yeah same, I think though that having read the manga first will help a lot of people, all this talk about Cyberbrains and stuff has me confused sometimes.

I rewatched Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan again yesterday with subs and it's much funnier than watching without subs. I can understand some Japanese and pretty much make out the rest by context but this is one anime where I had no idea what was going on because it moves so fast.
I've been watching Di Gi Charat as well, and it's a lot better than I expected. I thought it was a kids' anime but it was actually made for a store in Akihabara.

By the way does anybody know a good .MKV converter, a lot of donwloaded anime's are in mkv format and i need a good converter because some of the programs i've tried have left the audio way out of sync and stuff, and i can't correct it.
softtack
09-12-2007, 19:27
The only method for converting MKVs to AVIs that I know is the way I've come with myself, using VirtualDubMod. It's complicated so I don't like doing it a lot.
The problem with MKVs is that they usually contain a smorgashborg of unusual codecs along with softsubs. It gets even more complicated if the video is x264 encoded or if the audio is Vorbis or AAC. I recommend just watching it on your computer instead of going through the hassle to convert them all.
However, the encoders of older series usually have the standard Xvid/MP3 combination along with SRT (the ugly ones) subs. Those can be converted into AVIs using a program called alltoavi.
Yeah i use AllToAvi for nearly everything, sometimes it's fine with MKV's but you get the odd some that just completely mess up with the syncing. I've tried this VirtualDubMod thing but meh still out of sync and stuff, i guess i'le just watch them on my pc.

yea... the problem is that the video in the episode is encoded in MP4/AVC(apparently most fansub group are now using the new AVC) unlike other MP4 videos which are usually encoded in x264
and from what i can tell, AVC is not supported by xvid4psp(hope it will be in his next update though)
edit: ok as i thought... AVC is for some reason not supported on newer version of xvid4psp
either that or there's something wrong with its decoder/encoder
anyways... i just tried converting Death Note 37 to PMPAVC and it's done its job :)
i'm using version 4.1.0.5

and for some reason it's way slower on 64-bit OS (around 130fps but on 32-bit winxp it was encoding at around 400+fps)

So im gonna have to read the manga to know the rest of the story and real ending.
Original anime endings = filler to me.
I hate fillers.
That sucks I hate it when an anime doesn't fully go on the same as the manga, it was the same as Tenjho Tenge, that ended ages ago but the manga is still going on.

why don't you guys use IRC and download from a xdcc-bot
it's much faster that way... for me at least :)
just watched Major(baseball anime) eps 75... cliffhanger is killing me... 3 episodes left then bring on season 4 :D

Torrents are actually faster than IRC bots for me. Even when a group claims to have "super fast" bots, I can usually double that speed on torrents.
Plus I'm lazy.
There's also the fact that you will usually have to queue for use of the bots. Another good point would be that you can get whole anime series in one torrent. This is coming from somebody who hates torrents by the way and would much prefer any other method of downloading :p.
Edit: LOL at the anime chibi pic in your sig soft.

Haha, thanks. That actually was the original image for the ARC banner. I got bored of working on my other sig so I made an advert instead. :p
You reminded me of another point I forgot to mention. Smaller groups (which are life savers when bigger groups don't sub an anime or stop subbing one) often don't have access to bots so making a torrent and asking someone like EdwardK for a tracker makes it much easier to distribute. I do love those batch torrents too. :DD
Yeah, Veoh doesn't seem to be working properly for me anymore (probably because their deleting all the anime) so i'm having to get like the whole series of Claymore in 1 torrent which is handy but what i don't like about torrents is the fluctuating download speed, it's just never stable, one minute it could be like over 200kb and the next it could be 12kb.

Well, the anime industry just hit a new low today.
Overflow, the studio behind School Days, has decided to hold back the last episode NOT because they were being sensitive about the news (axe killing girl) but as a marketing stunt. It appears that they're holding a special preview event for the last episode with only a limited amount of seats. Okay, that's not so bad. But here's the best part. You need either an UNOPENED copy of School Days or Summer Days to get in, which is kind of strange because most people buy games to play them, not as a family heirloom.
*sigh*
I'm done with the series. I'll probably lower my review score to 0/10 just because of this. Sick of these marketing schemes...
Well, I'm off to watch the Shana movie then, and from what I've heard, it's going to be a long recap... x_x

Mostly likely only until the DVDs are released. They're just trying to make some fast cash.
Well that sucks i was going to start watching it soon but if the last episode isn't even going to be released for ages, if it all, then i probably won't bother.
On another note im up tooooooo Episode 10 in Kaze no Stigma at the mo and i'm enjoying it :).

That's Rozen Maiden, and the character you're talking about is Suiseseki.
I stated to watch Kaze no Stigma when it came out but I got pissed off that they blatantly ripped off Shana so I stopped. People have been saying it's okay and it got a good review so I'll probably check it out when I have time time.

Yeah I can see where they're coming from. She uses the air to attack enemies, I think? I was disappointed that they couldn't come up with a more original character design. I'll probably give it another try later.

I don't know. I wasn't too interested in the first two Rozen Maiden seasons and I guess the OVA wasn't an exception. Maybe if I watched it more carefully, I'll see a reason for it but... meh...
Unrelated but it looks like Eclipse has finished subbing Claymore. I hope they release a batch torrent soon.

I heard that Claymore was going to have a second season, not sure if that's anything more than speculation though. I hope it's as good as everyone says it is. My friend is obsessing over the manga. :)
Well the manga has a 7 year time skip on it which looks cool :p. On the Wikipedia entry it sais "The First Season aired from blah blah blah" indicating there could be a second season and i don't see why not because as Jester said it leaves stuff unresolved

Everything does except the last episode.
If there isnt a 2nd season i will nominate Claymore for Worst anime ending.
Well it's like i said before, the anime ending is slightly different to how the Claymore manga ended in "Part 1", i won't spoil it but the start of "Part 2" of the manga is after a six year timeskip, however there is also some changes to the story like Raki for example. If there is going to be a second season they are either going to have to re-do a final episode for Season 1 or just say that the end episode isn't canon and carry on from there.

The ending isn't that bad, it basically just ended in away where they can get back on track with the manga I believe (haven't read the manga). If there is a second season and they follow the manga, I hear it will be a while before they would have enough material from the manga to make a second season. Regardless if there is a second season or not and how the first season ended, I still believe Claymore was a great watch.
I am currently giving Tsukihime, Lunar Legend a try, which has turned out pretty good so far (on episode 7). I just wish some fansubbers would pick up animes like Shoujo Cosette, Kaze no Shoujo Emily, Glass Mask (watched the first 16 episodes which are subbed), and others like them that seem to never get subbed.
