Playing PS2 games on-line on PS3

I just bought PS3, but I am unable to get PS2 games to work on-line. I tried to download the PS2 data thing from the PS store, but it would not help.
Could it be because I am using wireless internet? I have not tried to use wired yet.
I have searched the whole forums, but I have not found a thread about this.

P.S: I DO NOT HAVE (working)PS2 with network card adapter.

One more thing: PS2 controller does not work if you try to play PS2 games on PS3(using USB adapter).

hhhm look at ur connection and maybe its jus the game i have wireless connection and play ps2 games all the time online try wired connection to see if it works

I'm pretty sure that the PS2 download from the store is to enable the PS2 games that use the HDD (ie:ff XI). It has nothing to do with online play for other PS2 games.

I got mine to work, it was a little complicated but it worked. It likes to not work and you have to set it all up like a ps2, but it will log you out a few times before you finish. Once you get network settings saved to your HDD just use it to play online. Its laggy though, i think thats because its a ps3 communicating with a ps2.

O.K I figured it out. All I needed was a PS2 game that allows you to create network setting save on the "memory card".

Do you have a ps2 mem card with the network settings on it? That all you need well that and the ps2 adapter thing. You also have to download the ps2 hdd thing off the store. Then just copy ur ps2 mem card to your hdd and your good to go.

keep in mind that some games will not work with the included online stuff so you will need the latest Network cd PS2, call sony and they will send you it.

ofcourse if you have like tons of games then there might be a chance you can get all more or less working (like i did).
