I personally don't think that porn support will play as big of a role as it did with Beta vs. DVD, but for those who have argued otherwise, this is interesting.

Porn does NOT need to be in HD.
I don't want to see stretch marks, bullet wounds, and surgery scars in high def

I don't think it will have as big of an impact either, because of the internet.

If any of you are old enough to have experienced the Betamax/Sony and VHS/JVC war, you wil know that the porn industry played a major role in helping consumers decide on the two formats.
Well today CEpro just released an article on Digital Playground's choice to switch to HD DVD over Blu-Ray even though they admit that Blu-Ray is the better than HD DVD option for them with higher disc capacity and superior security ironically which was a similiar scenario with the Beta vs VHS war.
Link to entire article is below...

In some circles, they say Betamax lost to VHS because VHS had more porn titles. Will the adult video industry hold similar sway in the high-def DVD battle?
If so, look no further than Digital Playground, which may not be the most prolific publisher of adult videos, but is probably the most highly regarded, with scores of key awards under its belt--so to speak.
Last year, I spoke with Digital Playground founder Joone--that's the whole name, just like Cher--after reading that his company would support Blu-ray.
"First and foremost," he said during the interview, "you get more space with Blu-ray. You usually run out. A person could buy a DVD, and there might be four movies on it. They could just pay to unlock them."
At the time, he also cited the security of Blu-ray, supposedly superior to HD DVD.
Finally, he said that the Sony Playstation would provide a huge boost to the Blu-ray format, and that "gamers usually buy our stuff a lot."
There are other means to obtain that kinda stuff now... like the Internet.
I don't think they will play that major role this time around like they did back in the Betamax/VHS days.
i also read that they will support both blu-ray and hd-dvd.

Who pays for and watches porn on TV anymore?
Porn's greatest audience can't buy the discs anyway.

I know, it's just that the whole "box full of porn" thing seems sort of 80's to me.
Of course I still see people wearing mullets...

he hasn't stopped doing blu-ray tho if you look in the article on the picture you can see a blu-ray and a hd-dvd title so it appears he's releasing to both
LOL...thatīs intresting, very intresting.
Porn does NOT need to be in HD.
I don't want to see stretch marks, bullet wounds, and surgery scars in high def :shock:Speak for yourself, I want to see those stretch marks lol. Porn does play a role in being HD, whether you want to believe it or not. Heck check out what they said here.

Yet, Digital Playground just announced its first four HD titles, and they're all in HD DVD.
Who cares? Well, a lot of technology developers should. Some $4.28 billion worth of adult videos were sold or rented in 2005, according to Adult Video News. About 1 billion adult videos were rented in 2005. And statistics show that there is affluence among porn aficionados. Some 35% of them have incomes over $75,000. That's enough to buy a high-def DVD player or two.
That doesnt bode well my argument all along has been that since they are going blu-ray HD-dvd was S out of luck. Now the battle is on between the formats. PS3 has more units in homes (1mil+) but porn backs HD...hmm
A little propoganda depending on where you snipp from.
Bascially they said I'll go BD, to I'll go BD and HD-DVD now.
We'll fence sitting isn't new. But we'll see what happens.

That wasnt the tune being sung by blu-ray proponents 6 months ago.
i wonder what made them change their minds? there's no benefit for them to run on HD-DVD..? the gap is closing, the storage capacity of the BR is far superior, and even they admitted BR was better...? why change now? cost.. and limitations.. just pick up a phone. the poor *******s backed the wrong format.

I don't think that this will be a big deciding factor for this stupid war. He sounded like he will be doing BR later so I can't figure out why he's doing HD DVD now...

Back then the internet were not so mainstream, but now the internet change all of that. Most will just get there porn online and put there money to a better use than buying a high-def porn.

does anyone really want to watch porn in HD???
I mean think about... take a second...
Well we could just use the internet. Oh crap, I'm not 15 :P
You go on a porn site and your given 2 options.
If you are over 18 click here to continue.
If you are not 18 click here to leave.
Hmmm choices, choices, choices.
Doesn't that seem contradictory though why does he acknowledge blu-ray is the better format with bigger backing but goes to release stuff on HD-DVD that doesn't makes sense

whats narutoboy gonna say about this lol.Probably the same as you, nothing to contribute?
The porn industry was a deciding factor when it came to VHS vs Beta war and I still think it will be the final nail in the coffin either way this time around as well. But there is so much more going on these days. If the industry is remotely intelligent, they will see the Blu-ray option has the best of both worlds in regards to past tech. The format is bigger "VHS" and quality wise it ressembles the top choice "beta" (not that HD-DVD is inferior quality wise).
The PS3 reaches a market that is similar to porn so why wouldn't the major producers take advantage of that is anyone's guess.
The internet is now the biggest distributor of porn and it's FREE for the most part. It's easier to hide porn from your guests in a password protected folder on a external HDD than it is to hide on disk or cassette format. "Mommy, what are those people doing on uncle Joe's Blu-ray disk?"
Finally, as DayWalker said... Who wants to watch that in 1080p HD????
Will the porn industry be a deciding factor this time around? I will say yes as I said in the past, but it will not be the sole factor this time around, more like a goal in overtime in the 7th game of the playoffs (you have to get there first!)

LOL, why did you post in this about getting porn, if you are 15, lol
With the internet who actually goes out and buys or rents porn anymore. IMHO this will have little impact.

people with slow internet :suspect: or people who want better quality stuff, lol
If anyone goes the route of dual format discs for the time being, it would be the porn industry.
Maybe they realized that most wankers have HD-DVD add-ons?

I don't think having the porn-movie-industry supporting HD-DVD will have major influence at all, nowadays you can just get the porn of the web. Why spend money on HD movies?
It's for the collectors I think oh and for the record I don't have any "allegedly."

No worries bro, its your parents, or the website that will be in trouble, not you =)
i Dont think Porn ppl choosing hd-dvd will be the end of blu-ray, its just that it means it wont be the end of hd-dvd.
Have you all noticed that new advertisments for movies nowadays have only been blu-ray..
crank, covenant, employee of the month,
crazy blu-ray support
Does this mean that porn will never be on blu-ray in the future???
