Has anyone noticed that in the new PS2's that they come built in with a Remote sensor?

It located in between the reset button and the open button.

I just got a new PS2 for christmas and it has the same thing. I tried to program it with a Universal Remote and it didn't work so I think that I'm going buy a regular PS2 remote and see if that works.

Really? I didn't know that. Does it come with a Sony Remote too for DVD's? :?

Is it just with the Silver PS2 or for the original aswell?

The original as well. All PS2s version 9 and above have the ir sensor.

Yep, the newer PS2's are also ALOT quieter, have a sturdier disk tray, and play PSone games faster :)

Hmm interesting. When was the release date for these higher PS2 versions? I think I may do a small investigation.

Just before X-Mas I think, model number: SCPH-50001 and I think the model number for the silver model is SCPH-50001 (Version 9)

I should also add that it's lighter than the older PS2's too.

Sounds like another minimization to the motherboard. Fast and furious, pardon the expression

I never knew that they had improved much on the new PS2. Has there been much information given about this?

Yes, all the information was in an official press release from Sony and the news was on all the major sites in the industry like IGN and Gamspot etc.

I think it was around November time but I really can't remember... :?:

Yeah ok that's cool. My PS2 is in reasonably good condition at the moment although it isn't up to date as far as the new PS2 is.

Sorry, Sony didn't want to put in an extra remote control. They want you to spend all of your money.

Ah shucks, dont want to waste that 10 or 20 dollars on a controller that I would of just spent on junkfood anyways. The controller is really uncessary at this moment so thats why it's not included, theres not a strong demand for it to put it in other words.

Most companies do. It all depends on being smart enough not to

Take microsoft for example. On windos XP they leave the admin password blank and don't give you a decent firewall so that they will get money from repairs.

Here's the article:

PS3 to reach up to 120 FPS.

The PlayStation 3 which is due spring 2006 will not only be boasting technical specs which are top of the line for today’s standards but will also be exceeding these standards.

Ken Kutaragi, Sony’s CEO appeared at the Tokyo International Digital Conference last October with some mind-blowing news. The next generation gaming console will not only be running the technologically advanced CELL developed by Sony, IBM and Toshiba which will supply the console with over 4.00 GHz of raw power, but will run games at staggering speeds of up to 120 frames per second.

These numbers are not only past anything available on the market right now but close to the limits of the human’s nervous system. If you are wondering what these numbers mean then take a second to picture this. Common movie theaters run at around 24 frames per second, 60 GHz run at 30 frames per second and the Xbox runs at 60 frames per second. However our eyes can see them as smooth animations. Now imagine for a second that these already super smooth frame rates were doubled. The results would result in extremely smooth images but would our eyes be able to handle 120 frames? The answer is yes, the human retina is extremely adaptable to change its surroundings. If you want real proof to what I just stated just think next time you go to the theater. Theaters have crystal clear images but run at lower frame rates, this is because your retina adapts to the frame rate of the theater. Now just imagine that experience multiplied by 4 in your very own living room.

Not so fast though. These numbers might be high but right now they do not mean anything right now because even the most technologically advanced television sets are only capable to reach 60 frames per second at most. This is why most people ask “why 120 FPS then?” well, back in E3 2005 Ken said that the PS3 will be a console that will stay around for a while. After all the PS3 is 10 years advanced technologically. So whether these specs prove themselves now or in 5 years this clearly shows that the PS3 is a console of the future that will last even with modern technology always advancing.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Well for one if you write this article, write the article and dont just copy/paste it. Also, you should research about what it takes to run 120fps and what 120fps would do for FPS gaming. Also.....this is kinda old news, but could be worth posting anyway.

I didnt copy and paste it, I just put it in quotes to show the article.

I didn't say you did.....I didn't know if you were going to use the article in quotes or not.
