There was a previous poll some time ago while back that asked about whether anyone had purchased or intended on purchasing a Blu Ray movie. Well, you've had your PS3 for a while so it might be interesting to see whether people have actually bought a Blu Ray Movie yet.

ive purchaced 5. the quality is insane and the menus are sick. if you have an HDTV and you havnt bought a BD yet you have no idea what your missing. plus if you dont buy any your doing a disservice to the future of the ps3.

I had to purchase a bundle from walmart.com to get my ps3 before christmas. I had to buy 2 movies as part of the bundle. Monster house, and a christmas story.

Among all of I have, ice-ages is the best, if you want to show how good your TV is.
Really jaw dropping experience. First of all, it does good job on the transfer, second it's not 2.40, it's 1.7 i think, yup you will get full screen and no black bar. Out of all blu-ray i have, that's the only one that doesn't give me black bar.

My list:
Underworld : Evolution
Black Hawk Down
MI-III
The Last Waltz
Besides the "The Last Waltz" the video quality on the first 3 are fantastic.
Any fans of the now gone "Alias" TV show out there? MI-III was a lot of fun and almost comes off as a movie version of an Alias script.
I also picked up a BD Remote today as I found the Sixaxis a bit awkward.
I bought Invincible for my dad over the holiday to justify having "that damn game machine" hooked up to his new Bravia in our living room.
The quality really is stunning, and when my dad watched it for the first time he just sat there speechless in awe. Cant wait to get some of the top quality movies such as ice age and black hawk down, next purchase will be Gridiron Gang
My collection so far:
Invincible ($10 off coupon)
Superman Returns($10 off coupon)
Mission Impossible 3($10 off coupon)
Black Hawk Down
Talledega Nights (came with system)
Underworld Evolution($10 off coupon)
Sahara

Does Tallahassee Nights count? I'm afraid that's probably the only Blu-Ray movie most of us will have anytime soon.

Yes, so far I've got:
The Terminator
Training Day
Hitch
Going to get more soon. The quality is so great, my eyes watering the first time I watched one in the dark. lol

No, it doesn't count, and the poll results so far would indicate you are wrong.
Of course more people seem to have viewed the post than are voting, so who knows.

Hmm, for the people who said no but they will in the future, they probably don't have a PS3 yet, like me :-)
so yes, I will definately be buying blu-rays in the future.

Just bought a 46" 1080p HDTV yesterday as a gift for my dad, so I will be buying a few BD movies tomorrow. I'm thinking Kung Fu Hustle because that was a great movie, and maybe Crank (haven't seen it yet though).

I didn't want to start making purchases till after I had viewed a good selection of titles and was happy with the quality. Now that I have done that I know that I will definitely be purchasing at least a few titles before the month is out.

What I have so far:
Talladega Nights (Hey it was free, but sucked bad, but free.)

i was going to say the exact same thing the other guy did, i saw your age, and was like "wtf..!?" i am 18 myself, and even though i've never had a job, i know if you use your credit wisely, there are almost no limits, but i was kinda' wondering if it was possible to get a credit limit under 18, especially one high enough for what that tv must have cost, lol.

Well, I see the mods moved this to the Blu-Ray Movies section, which I think is an unwise move. After all, anyone looking in this section probably has bought a Blu Ray Movie, or is likely to be buying one.
What we want is a good assessment on whether the average PS3 buyer is also a Blu Ray movie buyer.

I am a family movies fans, and a huge fan of disney.
I planned to buy blu-ray yesterday at london HMV. They just sold smaller number of blu-ray compared to hddvd. So, I searched for a blu-ray that i like, (NO DISNEY TITLE!!!)
it was monster house, but it got region B, while I'm searching the one without region. I found no blu-ray that i liked without region code.
So, I decided to buy it from the US/Japan, because the region matched.

Has anyone else bought the Blu Ray Stargate disc and watched it yet? I'm asking because it is the first movie that I have bought and the quality was phenominal! There were parts of the movie though where the background looked a little grainy and I was wondering if this was because of the original, non-HD movie being converted to HD quality or if it is just that the quality is so good now that you can tell when they used a higher speed of film causing the grainyness. I'm not bashing Blu Ray in any way. In fact, I doubt I will ever buy a standard DVD again but I was just curious about this issue. Hope someone can help me understand!

I just picked it up this morning, but I haven't watched it yet. :) According to the Review on High-Def Digest (http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/stargate.html) the picture quality is great. It sounds like some of what you noticed is due more to the original movie print than the transfer, but they did mention that some extended scenes display "noticeably inferior print quality"... so that might be part of it.
To the OP, I now have eight movies, and plan on buying them at a rate of about one per week.

No matter where you put it, it would still be biased...
even if it's in the games section, this is a PS3 forum, a lot of people support PS3 so much that they went out and bought blu-rays just to support Sony... lol?
You need to do a random sample of people buying them in a store or something.

Even though I don't have an HD TV yet, I recently bought Gone in 60 Seconds for Blu-Ray. I think that Blu-Ray looks better then DVD, even on an SDTV. I guess it's just the better compression. I will also be ready for when I get my HDTV.

I bought Black Hawk Down and Underworld Evolution, but that's because it was 'buy 1 get 1 free' at Bestbuy. Haven't really found any other BD movies that I want to really get, but I'm trying out Netflix's $4.99/month right now and if I rent a movie that I really like, I'll go out and buy it. I'm only interested in buying movies that I like and that's going to showcase the Blu-Ray power really well.

Anybody have any good movie suggestions that have really good definition and really enhances the Blu-Ray technology, that's worth checking out? Preferably action movies with lots of stuff going on, but if I spend the money to buy a Blu-Ray movie, even if I already have the standard DVD version of it, I'd really like to know that it was worth getting so that I can get the full 1080p Blu-Ray experience out of it.
This page here shows some good ideas, but I disagree with some of the movies listed in their Tiers in my opinion, after I've rented and watched them on my TV. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=753726
