Ahhh!!!

Why compare the Two? I can show you shots from King Kong on HD DVD that make almost any Blu-ray movie look worse! Its not about the format, its about the software on them! Why dont some people get this???? The only way I could "compare" the two is if we took exact same releases Like Mission Impossible box set and compared them that way.... or the Sopranos Box Set for Season 6 pt. 1.....

... BUT EVEN THEN..... its how it was put onto the disc..... Look at Mission Impossible Trilogy Box Set, it looks worse on Blu-ray than it does on HD DVD! So I bought the HD DVD version. Sopranos look identical, ... so like I said even then its not comparing formats ability, but individual titles.

They are just a tad bit blurred I'm surprised how close my 23" matches the Ultra Violet though.

Oh totally agree. It's definitely not like being in front of the screen.

Watching MI:3 right now. **** movie but one of the best BRs I've seen to date. PHENOMENALLY clear, detailed, and excellent colors.

Crank? Too bad it was the worst movie ive seen in years.

My opinion anyway...

The POINT of this all is that one is not really better than the other for picture quality! I can show you HD DVDs or Blu-ray discs that are better than the other, and vice versa.

I actually liked Crank and so did quite a bunch of other people. Then on the other hand there were those who hated it. To each his own I guess...I found the movie entertaining. Don't know if it is worth buying since it is kind of short, but if I wanted to show off my tv or system this would be the movie I use. This movie or Kingdom of Heaven ;)

Ah... you are refering to a reference disc... Crank that is. While I really really disliked this movie because... well of everything I do realize that it is my opinion. If I want to show off my HDTV with a movie I would consider a few, King Kong (HD DVD), The Wild (Blu-ray), Kingdom of Heaven (Blu-ray), HULK (HD DVD) or Corpse Bride (either format). There are many other big titles that are good looking too, worth showing off even.

Ideally pics of movies should be of a higher resolution than the film itself - in other words, one pixel of the photo should be smaller than one pixel on the TV screen. Of course, then you couldn't just post it directly on the forum, just post a link for it.. I'll dig up some photos from a forum that has done such things with the photos.
