It is a pain in the butt to enter a cheat while a lot of people are shooting you. Unless you run and dodge bullets you are going to die. It takes less than 10 seconds for you to die if all peds and cops have AK's.
Pint taken. But you could do the easy cheats that don't make people attack you 1st.

How about turning peds into celebrities? You could have Arnold walking around saying "I'll be back". Terminator would be a really hard fight.
That would be fun. Imagine you could go a celeb too. Rocky vs Mr T. That would be amazing.

I'm aware of all the past mini-games in SA. I think they could still improve upon them. For the marathons of running I was talking about having a lot more people involved. Like having peds cheering on the sidelines, handing out Gatorade. With a bmx competition, there would be a huge crowd and you could compete against other bmx'ers.
For the basketball, I would like to see 3 on 3 instead of just shooting by yourself.
As for the professional sports, every big city has a stadium with either basketball, football, or baseball teams. I would actually like to walk inside the stadium and cheer for your team. Or better yet, tailgate outside! Have massive BBQ's and drink lots of beer. Get a satelitte TV and watch the game from the parking lot. During tailgating there should be lots and lots of people wearing the team's jersey's.
I think that would be a great idea to implement into the next GTA. I think it would be awesome if you could place bets on games.

three things i would like to see in the next gta is:
1,mod shops that allow you to put machine guns on the front of your car and oil release system at the rear of the car, most ppl will think this is a full auto idea but the early ps1 gta you where able to do this from what i remember and it was great fun.
2,building structures that can be destroyed similar to mercenaires altho once you have destroyed a building you have an option to pay for the building to be restored in the event that you blow up a gun shop or something of similar importance by mistake.
3,i would like to see the docks make a return, remember the 1st ever gta where you could steal a car take it to the docks and recieve money for delivering the car.

In GTA III there was the Import/Export center.
In GTA Vice City there was the Sunshine Autos.
In GTA San Andreas there was an Import/Export center at the docks.

True, I think it would be a lot better if you got paid for any car you bring there. But I think you should be payed a higher price.

I can't remember when did R* get their Dev Kits?See cause they would start releasing screenshots after about 1 year into development when they are into the thick of it so if anyone knows when they got their development kits can you just add a year to that and tell us cause thats when I predict we will see screenshots of in game action.

The rumor was that Rockstar got dev kits in August of 2005.

So ... lets just keep pumping out ideas for the next 5 months
If they got their kits in August then that means that they have been working on GTA4 for 7-8 months, by now they would of written the story of GTA4 and designed the characters and would pretty much started the game engine, they still prob-e need to do alot of work on the physics engine, cause I read that they were designing a brand new one which sounds like it's gonna be a Half life 2 killer in terms of physics at least, plus they would still be working on the visuals and FX etc. But they prob-e have the main part of the gameplay elements all but finished, plus they will continue to work on the engine for another year at least and will rewrite some of the story if it's not MA15+ enough. I'd guess that they are making good progress but a type of progress which if was to be shown to a person in the means of screenshot or ingame movie then that person would think that R* only started a week ago. mostly cause their progress wouldn't be a visual progress.
Please note that this is only my opinion, it's just what I think is happening in R* right now, I have made games before, not production quality but still games and still 3D, so I assume that this is about where they are at, cause thats where I would be at in the same situation.

true, it would be good if you take any car to the docks get a fee for doing so but also recieve a bonus fee for the wanted level of the car.
For example when you get into the car a small hub activates at the bottom of the screen showing the wanted level of that car and the higher the wanted level or heat of the car is the factor that determines the bonus you receieve.

I would like to mod police cars. I hated the fact that you couldn't do it in the current GTA's. If I was able to mod a cop car, I would first of all put a stereo system in. It's so boring without the radio! Then I would install lots of turbo juice to make the fastest cars in the world. I would install bulletproof glass, doors, and tires!

sounds like a good idea vercetti, cars that you have the option to install runflats (i think thats the name of the tires) which are good to drive on for up to 50miles while punctured
Vercetti
03-03-2006, 17:58
I think bulletproof tires (even though they don't exist, but hey it's a video game!) would be a great innovation. Ofcourse it would be hard to take down enemies, but hopefully it would be rare enough for anyone else to have. It would also make the game considerably easier on your behalf. Maybe it would be one of the rewards for beating the game 100%.
The Police Car mod needs to be a must on the next gen. I would make mine look like the old 70's style with a Sherrif's star on the door!

yeh i think that there should jsut be more things to buy. Such as more safe houses. And this time cool ones that dont just let you save the game but also have a purpose about them. I'm not quite sure yet as to what that purpose should be yet, but hey thats what the workers at rockstar north are paid for. I also think better interactivity with surroundings such as if you really wanted to that is, cut down trees, which would leed to missions. Also i think that if there could be at stages a multi-choice situation. I mean i know that the whole game is based around a multi-choice system but i mean that it would lead you onto a whole different storey as to what your friend is doing. So i have only been sitting here for about 5 minutes thinking about how it could be improved and it was no hassell at all. Infact it was far easier tan i though. :)[/quote]

Rumor - Grand Theft Auto: London for PS3 in Q4 2006
Posted Dec 27th 2005 5:30PM by Dan Choi
Filed under: PC, Sony PlayStation 3, Action, Adventure, Driving
According to an alleged employee of Rockstar North in Glasgow, Scotland, the next installment in the GTA series "will be titled Grand Theft Auto: London and will take place in the Great City of London in 1997."
If true, this sounds suspiciously like Rockstar trying to claim the "Great City" back from Sony's supposed usurpers to the crime-drivin' throne. Also, if you recall, there was a PC expansion to the first GTA in 1999 called Grand Theft Auto: London 1969, so this is either a bad rumor or a likely remake of old material.
We here at Joystiq hear a lot of crazy rumors about games, of course, but we sometimes wonder what to make of anonymous tipsters who claim to work for certain "developers of interest." Read on for the other details we received, and make the decision for yourself.
According to our source (who admittedly doesn't have the most perfect spelling), the "3 Island" system will be replaced by a new "North, East, South, West" system, and the main character will be an ex-gangster starting off in the "rough-and-tumble east end of London." Unlocked regions are to include the North End, South End, and West End, in order. The game is supposed to be about 60% finished, with the graphics and physics engines both completed. The focus is now mainly on the game's story component. The game is currently set to launch with the Playstation 3 in North America and Europe in Q4 2006. With about a year's work already done, the PlayStation 3's "fantastic graphical power" should provide some better horsepower under the hood of the sandbox series.

I really don't think it matters where the game takes place. It's going to knock our socks off regardless of the setting. However, I don't think London is attractive if you're talking about Grand Theft Auto.

On another subject,
Although Prostitutes are all well and good, isn't there some way of avoiding seing them sitting upright doing nothin? I don't wanna see them do their dirty work, cus then R* would be sued for sure, but just so they don't look like idiots.
To Vercetti: Im pretty sure those Tires have existed for ages, and unfortunately they aren't as original as you thought, as Driver: PL is having that, and bullet proof glass, but R* would only do it better :P
To guys who don't like London: Who are saying don't get your hopes up..... Please don't worry. London has a lot more to offer than you think. Esecially now, and you will enjoy it as Europeans have enjoyed exploring America. All I wish, is they called it something else like Lumdun, after all, the places are all made up.
Can anyone else think up some names for London? Don't say crap......

Like I said before, I could care a less where it takes place.
But if I had to choose a place, I would prefer Washington, D.C. I think it would be perfect based on the fact that it's the capital of America. It's in the middle of the North and South and it's one of the biggest cities on the East Coast. It could also have a politic theme to it, maybe involving the CIA, FBI, or even the president.
My views come strictly from what I know. I'm ignorant as far as London and Japan because I've never been outside the U.S. If I visited those places before I would have more input as to whether or not they would be suitable for a GTA game. With that said, tell me why London or Japan would be a good setting. I'm all ears.

it might sound like a long-shot...but how about GTA set in the future? flying cars, all that kinda stuff.
Vercetti
03-04-2006, 19:31
I don't think a setting in the future is a good idea. You have nothing to base the story, music, cars, or anything else on. First of all, flying cars will never happen. Idiot drivers would be flying into crap all the time. Unless cars were on restricted controllable wires, then I don't see it happening. Then again, people thought the world was flat not too long ago.
All the current GTA games were based on the past or the present and that, in my opinion, is how it should remain.
aussiedude
03-05-2006, 10:21
Future would be OK as long as it's not 'back to the future 2' style or anything maybe more like 'Minority Report' style or 'I robot' except minus the weird cars and the robots and more normal like clothes and more dirty and darker, so that it keeps the style of GTA. I must say although I wouldn't want the next GTA to be too far into the future I wouldn't want it to be too far into the past, anything less than the 90's for me is too far back, anything more than the 20's(2020) is too far forward so maybe 2010 or 2001 etc. Like Vercetti said if you put the next GTA in the future than you wouldn't have anything to base the environment off, and thus it would become unrealistic. But Vercetti
First of all, flying cars will never happen
Dont be so sure I was watching the news about 6months ago and apparently theres some places designing flying taxi's which only need 30m of runway space to take off. They said it would be ready by 2010. Even if they don't get it done by 2010 that doesn't mean that it wont ever happen, oh yeah and that remark that idoit drivers would fly into crap all the time, well I'm pretty sure that is the reason why pilots go to flying school  .
Vercetti
03-05-2006, 16:25
Maybe they will happen. I think it would take a long time for it actually to go through though. Even if flying cars would be ready by 2010, there would be tons of laws and regulations to pass before you saw one on the road, or should I say air.
By the way, it takes a lot of skill to be a pilot, unlike automobiles where a 14 year old kid knows how to drive. I know if this actually happened in real life, you wouldn't see me come out of the house.
If flying cars come to the next gta, we should get rid of planes and helicopters.

My next gen GTA Story
Claude Speed has ran Liberty City for 5 years. (by the way, his character now talks and has personality). He is the head of all mafia and has taken over the city.
He is now looking at business in a national prespective. With the biggest city in America out of his way, anything else seems like cake. He wants to be involved in politics (corrupt ofcourse), so he heads to Washington, D.C. With the power of the government, he could run the best crime in the world. No one would be able to touch him. With important high ranking officials under his belt, he would never be in a jam.
I would take references from the movie "Lord of War" with Nicholas Cage.

That's a pretty good storyline, Vercetti. I have never owned a GTA, so I can't necessarily follow it, but it sounds good.
One thing I would like them to put in is the ability to streak on field in a (fake) major league baseball game (yeah, I'm kinda weird), big 'ol hostage situations, a lot more buildings you can go into, and a better dialogue system. That would be nice.
And as far as London 1997 for the next GTA goes, I think that's a pile of crap. Not that I don't like London or anything, but GTA has been such an American-feeling series that this totally drops its credibility. Plus, the past settings have been cliche, easily-recognizable ones like Miami Vice of the 80s, 90s LA for the birthplace of modern culture, and modern day NYC. But London in 1997? What comes to mind, the Spice Girls? Sheesh.

Hey there:
Well, if you noticed, in every GTA game there has been incidences and catches to latin-getto culture.
Maybe a GTA placed in Ecuador or Cuba could look good. For example, you start playing as child (bully style), and as you grow, you earn respect and fear in streets. Then you can move to the USA or maybe somewhere else, having long airplane trips, using the high processing speed of the cell and BluRay to generate High Detailed nature below the plane, or weather effects.
That could be so good to play.

Nice idea, I think that it would be nice to be a drug-lord on the next GTA straight out of cuba transporting Kilos from your factory (a front for the coke) in Cuba by plane once a week then you can sell it to all the little men and make a lot of money.

I like this idea. I've always not liked that you had to do to dirty work in order to make it to the top. Then when you got there, nothing was left in the story. Like you said, I would like to fight off rival gangs and try to defend your title as the main man.
If you guys could come up with a story for the next GTA, what would it be?

That first part you said reminded me of a film I have called Cidade de Deus (City Of God). Its based in Brazil and its about the slums in Rio de Janeiro and how most kids out there have to earn money for their family at an early age (think 6 years old). Wages for legitimate jobs are so extremely poor and so most kids turn to a life of crime and drug dealing. They work their way up a hierarchy, gaining more respect. The sad thing is many don't live till the age of 20 because the job is so dangerous. Local rival gang wars and heavily armed police are among there biggest problems. Its a very brutal film, but I recommend you watch it.

I would like to take references from the movie "Lord of War" with Nicholas Cage. If no one has seen it, it's about this small arms dealer that starts out with small weapons like pistols and uzi's. Then he works his way up to making deals in small countries. He supplies countries at war the means to fight with AK's and automatic weapons.
I would only take scenarios from this movie. To base it on the whole game would be silly, but the past GTA's have had inspirations from plenty of movies.

Yeah it ll be great to take like a career to became an arms dealer or like a drugs dealer.
So like get promations in the "mob" that would be fun to work your way up from street junkie to The Don.

Yer, okay, point taken. London would suck a bit in that way, but that would be something to take the piss out of. Comon, you americans must wanna see us brits taken the piss out of like that. It would be funny.
BTW Vercetti, I like the storyline for GTA, but Claude has to specifically, be recovering from an adolescent dumness (skpeaking impediment)(if only there was an excuse for typing impediment), and using the skills of some shrink, known as Rosenberg (recommended by some guy, who knew his crazy ex, someone going by the name or Cain, no Carl? he doesn't know.) and is now still stuttering (adds a bit of comedy opportunity) but getting full sentences out.
heheh, yup.

Are you saying Claude would be stuttering?
The next gen GTA should definitely have upgraded weather. Especially if it's in a place where exteme weather happens. Liberty City should have had snow. Vice City should've had hurricanes, and San Andreas should've had earthquakes. Now we need to go to the Mid-West and have Tornado's. No jk, the midwest would be boring. I'm just saying that we need to have a more variety of weather besides rain.

The Next Gen Grand Theft Auto should have destroyable buildings, be able to view all interiors, and multiplayer. I know that would be very hard to do, but it would be great to have in the game. Along with a variety of weather (which was said in a previous post). Rockstar North should have more variety of helicopters and planes, I know there were some but it would be a good idea to add more.

Vice City had a Hurricane in the story on the radio when you could not go to the other part of the city near the start. However there should have been hurricanes come and go but it would Tax the PS2's hardware with the flood effects and blowing rain. Torando's are a must with Next-gen because I have always loved tornado's.
Did anyone see the news about no GTA at all in 2006? It was on Gamespot but this is no suprise at all. They should release GTA4 in mid 2007.

You know before R* said that they were making two games for PS3(at that time) a western and one which they gave no details about at all, everyone assumed that it was GTA, recently on ps3portal.com there was a article from R* which announced a game which they are working working on, table tennis. So have they started a 3 third game or was that the game they were working on, and if so does that mean they haven't even started GTA4 yet, and if so is that necessarily a bad thing. We all know that R* are going to make a GTA game, but will that make one now or will that test out the hardware and experiment first with these two other games so that when they do make GTA they know a little bit more about what they are doing, will they try to avoid stuffing it up like all lineup games seem, alot of possible things going on here, very interesting.

I think they should test their capabilities first. Maybe a demo of the game, or like Aussie said, come out with other games before they release the next GTA. I think everyone here wouldn't mind waiting. I want them to take their time developing it; even if it means until mid 2007.

i dont mind waiting until 2007 as long as it includes good graphics, split screen and well better graphics again

The graphics will no doubt be better. Split screen will only work if it's much better than the one on San Andreas. It was fun but still has room for improvement.
Maybe split screen could be converted to online mode. I know we've discussed online before but it might be asking too much. I haven't played LBC on PsP but maybe it could be done like that. Ideally, I would have a mega city with a mega multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG for those who don't know what this is), but if it's not possible they should go that route.

Do you want to see gang territory and gang wars in the next GTA?
Mr Turnip
03-08-2006, 21:17
I think gang wars and the gang territory stuff should stick with GTA:SA, there should be something different in no. 4, but maybe enemy territory spots, but not actual gangs, just a place where the "enemy" and a couple of their body gaurds or friends hang out, to make the area feel a bit threatening... like it would be a bit boring if at the start of the gae you could just go anywhere and feel like no one is going to touch you (maybe at the end but not at the start), there has to be some way of certain areas feeling threatening and like you have to watch your back and not walk into the wrong bar...

Sometimes i get really annoying when your playing san andreas and you are on the run from the cops, you try and hide down an alley way where they wont find you then all of a suddenthey come the corner blowing 10 shades of HELL  out of you. The point im trying to get to is that the police were a little bit too clever in GTA:SA. Their A.I was like 100000000000%. In GTA4 you should be able to outsmart the cops so you have a chance of getting away!!!

03-08-2006, 23:07
This is a really good point although the AI wasn't very good, it sucked they always got stuck behind walls though and they would never go to the top story of a parking garage. The cops should have really good AI next gen. For instance if you go into a parking garage, they block off the exits so it makes it harder to escape. Or they too can jump walls. I think everyone at one point or another says "blank the story" and goes off on a cop chase for a few hours before returning to trying to beat the game. Maybe if like in that one mission, cops jumped onto your car, that would be exciting. You'd have to swerve back and fourth to fling them off. I would also like when you fight people, for it to last longer and it to be more of a fight rather than you kick their butts up and down the street. Maybe cops shouldn't start beating the hell out of you when you fight someone too. Perhaps other people could pick fights with you too. There shouldn't be an unlimited amount of cops..there should be hundreds and hundreds, but sometimes, cops come out of nowhere in huge amounts and that always angered me. Back to the fighting, there should be a vast selection of moves and combos you can do. I think being able to grab someone by their shirt and throwing them over your back would be cool. Pushing would be a fun thing to add to the game. Id go around pushing people...and watching them fall down..that would be excellent. Ragdoll physics like other people have said would be so awesome. Imagine seeing someone get hit by a car really bad and their body just flail in the air perhaps going over the hood of the car and tumbling. Like i've said before, tripping and falling would be fun but say if it rains and you run on grass..it should be muddy and you should slip and fall...that would be funny. Not immediately fall..maybe your controls start getting a little bit harder to work with and if you push the directional button while you're already going one way you should fall and get all muddy. Damage that stays would be awesome, or anything for that matter inless it's cleaned up. Like if you leave a paper bag outside your house, it should stay there until the wind picks it up. Not always getting out of jail all the time would be fun too. Maybe if you don't have enough money you have to stay overnight( a few hours in the game but in real life a few minutes). You'd have to walk around the cell but there could be a lot of cool things they could do with this. Maybe they could add a little macgyver to this game and you could try to escape finding paper clips and metal bars in your cell. Or maybe you could hear a few cops have a long conversation on something weird or silly. I think the days should be a bit longer. I don't remember how long they were in san andreas but a bit longer so you could do more stuff, with this change maybe you would have to go to sleep everyday, the less sleep you got, the less alertness you'd have..if you didn't go to sleep, your aim would be off a bit, you'd run slower, maybe if you left the controller idol enough, your character would fall asleep :P .
I have too many ideas.

Hey there:
Do you want to see gang territory and gang wars in the next GTA?
Hell yeah adamba4e!!!
Of course, it could be the coolest idea ever, to be able to use akeyboard and mouse to do this:
You have your own gang. Your gang needs respect and the best clothes and bet design. So GTA next gen should include a clothe engine where you can create your own shirts, jackets, shoes, hats, watches and other stuff.
An online mode to gang wars would definitely make GTA the best game out.
I hope any of the opinions above makes it to the game.
OVER.

Although this discussion has been brought up earlier in the thread, since there are some new members here I am going to bring it up again.
What do you want to see from the online play in the next GTA?
lb003g0676
03-11-2006, 00:54
Online, I'll explain in a minute.
First Two player Multiplayer. It would be so easy, you can complete missions with either two or one person. The mian character could slect a gang member, and play as them, wih the other controller. Let's just hope next gen, can render two scenes at once, maybe a bit less draw distance.
Online: Just a big place, probably the GTA map. There would be many servers, each one consisting of 5 or 6 gangs (basically a Clan) you can either be a pedestrian (doing nothing, no one will do this, as there will be bots also), or oin a clan(Clans being the gangs, with editbale gang options, like cars and clothes colours and stuff), or go on their own (stupid idea). Every house wold be purchasable (but unfortunately not enterable, or there is a door in the house, but you never see the interior, it's where you change you clothes and stuff) and a garage (so you can keep your car) obviously then, the world would be the same as normal GTA, Bot's as police peds, etcetera, and shops and places that all of you can enter.

As far as I'm concerned unless your buying a game which is a online game, eg UT, Halo, then Online is just a added bonus feature, so if GTA4 has ANY online features then I see that as just R* giving us a little extra just because their nice. So I'm not gonna be too picky if the next GTA doesn't have the style of online that I want etc, but I would like to see if they do put in any online at all, a (at least) 2-4 player free roam. Cause then you can pretty much do anything, (car races, stunt competitions, shoot outs, co-op cop fighting)
I can't wait to see what Edison Carter does with the next GTA engine, I've been using his GTA:LCS cheat device this it was in version 0.5 and what hes added so far is amazing. But with a engine much much MUCH more complex like a PS3 engine, it will truly amazing, it'll be like existing in the matrix if your neo 8)
bizzy-bone
03-11-2006, 07:42
yeah street races and shoot-outs are pretty much obviouse ones, but also maybe some sort of competition with airplanes (races or shoot-outs, i donno), or maybe roaming around the city and looking for things, eg like san andreas, in los venturas, say you have five minutes or so, and you have to collect as many horseshoes as you can or something like that
aussiedude
03-11-2006, 07:50
How about alot of mini games!, like one player gets in a plane and the other stays on the ground and the one on the ground has to help the one in the plane domb a bomb on a target or something. Anyone watch those shows on tv where theres those really dumb games like the ones in The Amazing Race, Bigbrother, or for those aussies reading Friday Night Games, maybe games like that except more GTAish, so say what might be done on tv with a paint ball gun is done in GTA with a real gun, what might just be a loss of a few point on tv might equal sudden death in GTA, what might be done with a safety harness on tv would involve no harness and a bunch of people throwing things at you in GTA.

As long as the game continues to have a great story line i will be ok with what ever R* comes up with for their next GTA.
But im really hoping for way better graphics. Make me a really prety game. Yes we know you can make awesome gameplay, now make it graphically mind-blowing. I would also like them to keep the tradition of being able to fly things.
This is my list of nice things to have in future gtas.
1. A wide selection of tanks, each being able to do something different form the rest
2. You can destroy anything, specially buildings
3. When i shoot at a wall i wanna see deteroration and good looking bullet holes
4. A lot of car variaty. I mean Gran Turismo amounts
5. Diferent ending depending on what paths you take during play
6. At least for the cosole versions (since pc already has it) ability to play music from the hardrive and also include alot more music in the game (with blu-ray this will be easier)
7. Multiplayer-Online. Get online and pillage, kill to you hearts content
8. You can improvised weaponds. By this i mean pick up a trash can and beat people senseless, or a car whel after you've tataled it.
9. More Automatic, semi-autimatic weapons, or just old school weapons. ( immagine going on a rampage with a musket)
10. Intelligent Cops, FBI, Military
11. If the military is called in make the game really hard, (it's the military if they have to be called in for a civillian its something serious)
12. F-15 (i don't really know why other than to have a fast plane with missiles)
13. More types of boats. Also if military is after you, Navy goes after you
14. Plastic sergery as a means to elude police, Come on changing clothes will not get the police off your bacl in real life.
15. Better and more Player AI interations
I think i week a littl overboard about what i want in future GTA's, but hey a guy's gotta dream
How about alot of mini games!
No! They conentrated too much on all the minigames in San Andreas such as Snooker and the stupid dancing games. They need to concentrate more on the actual gameplay.
Mr Turnip
03-11-2006, 17:26
It was pool not snooker, and yeah i agree, the minigames weren't that good, and some of them had glitches so you could never play them again, like basket ball, all the courts i go to now have no ball to play with, and the bars and pubs that had pool in, there is a glitch that when you go in all the customers and staff put their hands up, including the man who you play against pool, therefore not being able to play... on to another point, i noticed that on the earlier missions the voice and mouth movement dubbing thing was really good, and it got really bad for a bit in San Fierro, and then good again later on, so i think they need to concentrate more on that on number 4
You mean on the cutscenes? Yes, i agree if thats what you meant.
I'm getting slightly worried though, i mean we have 94 pages of speculation, which will probably amount to 120 before an INFO is even released. Then there will be a boom of about 40 pages. After that once the game is released there will be another 30 pages discussing it, what will we do, just leave it as it is and discuss the same things over and over again? or start new?
Mr Turnip
03-11-2006, 18:28
Yeah i was talking about the conversation cutscenes, and i dunno about the new pages stuff, i guess the admins will decide when the time comes

The police definitley need to be smarter. Swat teams would be nice. For instance, like someone said, if you go up a couple of stories in a building, the cops wouldn't have the guts to follow you. So you get the swat team to rapple along the side of the building and bust through the windows.
Online Play:
Huge Map with designated territories. There would be atleast 5 or 6 gangs in a map. Each territory would have their own safehouses where rival gangs can't touch you. Each territory would have their own means to raise money. (drug deals, pimping, or just robbing people at gun point). There would be a neutral territory where rivals couldn't touch each other. For instance, stadiums, sporting events, horse tracks, anything recreational. Neutral territories could also include competition like basketball games, card games ( I would love to play spades or rummy! ). These areas would be neutral so we can do something besides kill each other. I think wars would get old unless we had something else to do.
Wars. Wars would be prevoked like how they were for SA. Maybe only 1 member would needed to be killed in order for it to happen. This would make look outs for rivals or cops very much needed. Rivals would show up as different colored blips on the map, so you know where they are. You could take as many members with you as you wanted. In SA, you could only fit 3 other members in a car, where as this one could have a whole caravan of homies to start a war. The gang that is getting attacked would have the option to surrender instead of loosing his whole gang. They could relocate or work for the person that took them over. If your gang gets killed you could start over. There would be profiles showing how many times you surrendered, got killed, or quit.
After aquirring terrtitory, you could buy out buildings. Maybe set up a crackhouse or pimphouse and start making money. Money has to be essential to the power of your gang. The more money you have means you could buy more weapons, clothes, nice cars, etc. Cheats would not be allowed ofcourse.
How about for online a certain amount of people would be allowed in the city and it would be every man for himself. Weapons scattered everywhere and good ones in hidden locations
What about some kind of online ala Animal Crossing. Where you can make a city, put vehicles (cars, helicopters, planes), and guns in you map and then invite people to your map. You could have an open invitation to 16 players max and have different kinds of gameplay, such as 8 vs 8.

This sounds more like a war game then GTA. I think it would be fun for a little bit, but GTA is a lot more than killing each other. If this was the only mode for online play I would be against it, but if it's an option then I wouldn't mind. For instance having the ability to play what you can now.

In SA you could play little games on your tv and at arcades, how about R* but that in again except for the minigame have GTA:SA!
You go home turn on PS3, put in GTA:4
In GTA:4 you go home and turn on PS2, put in GTA:SA
In GTA:SA you go home and turn on little game console, put in 'they crawl from your anus'
In the end you have to 'go home' 3 times just to play a crappy game inside a game, inside a GREAT game!
Okay, that would be amazing if they had SA as a minigame! To categorise it as a minigame though GTA4 would have to be HUGE. I mean look at the comparison in SA to the minigames in that. Its about 10000 times bigger! Imagine the GTA4 world 10000 times bigger than SA, and all so they could put SA in as a minigame!
Mr Turnip
03-12-2006, 15:37
Dream on guys  I don't think that would be good any way, too confusing! For mini games they should have the good old RC cars and helicopters, i missed those from VC, i know they were in Zero's missions but you couldn't do 'em over and over again when you're bored
 I can dream!
Nah, honestly i would hate a map that big, that was the problem with true crime, there were just too many streets that looked all the same.
Mr Turnip
03-12-2006, 16:06
Agreed, it was the same colour, same things on the street, same cars parked on the side of the road, same peds, it was like one big..... erm.... maze? At least in SA there's near enough no place that looks the same, loads of variety and different colours and textures
Yes, aswell that True Crime was flat, i think there was one slight hill in the game. In SA there are mountains and valleys and all that!

they should put it in a place where they could still keep the gang element going. it should also be present day and somewhere were they would have alot of cities. New York would be perfect they could use all 5 boroughs and could still have they gangs(queens, harlem, bronx) and the major corperations(manhattan) they would have water and some rural areas too. thats why i think that would be the perfect place.
Ah, but GTA3 was set in "New York" i doubt they would do it again.
Mr Turnip
03-12-2006, 21:15
Wasn't GTA 3 based on New York? not set in New York?
Any ways, i don't think New York is a good idea, i want more variety than just one city, like in SA, a desert area, foresty countryside area, and city, and seaside towns and places like Palomino Creek (in SA), all sorts of stuff like that, little villiages and towns

New York is taken by Driver PL and a good city to set GTA4 would be in California again.

I want next GTA to be huge 2x or 3x the size of San Andreas. But, I really want is destroryable buildings and all interiors viewable. Along with a more varietys of weather, heilcopters, and planes. Now, that would be the basics in GTA.

I reckon it should have a New Yorkish City in it, A Miami Style Place and all the places from SA, plus a Sydney/Central Coast Style City(Cause Australia Rocks!) and a tokyo style city. All with lots of outback country and forests inbetween and a couple of oceans. With a map that diverse the GTA4 map would rock!
How about london. "Big john" instead of Big Ben and i'm sure they could set some amazing missions there like sniping someone from the top of the London Eye!
Let's just hope next gen, can render two scenes at once, maybe a bit less draw distance.
In the game farenheit (otherwise known as indigo prophecy in america i think) the ps2 could render 4 different scenes on the same screen and allow you to switch between characters on all four to play them. so by next gen it shud totally be possible for a much larger game to do the same i think.
In the next GTA I would like it to be the whole United States! I mean, the PS3 disks are going to be 4x bigger than orginal PS2 ones, 2x the info of the game, and 2x the graphics (science, go figure). What I mean by bigger is the space of course. It's a blue ray disk (double sided) so it would be enough space to do it. But what I really want the most in GTA 4 is, Split Screen 2 Player. That way players can go wherever they want and have a shootout, or go to a resturaunt that's fancy and the other goes to a crappy burger stand. It would be easier to aim also. And the players can have SEPERATE CARS. This would be a good feature because The players can split up, maybe go to the mall buy some stuff while the other has a good time at the BaseBall game, then meet back at the same place  Just a neat Idea I wanted to post and, Hopefully this will happen!

Hummer H2 limouzine version... nuff sed, that car is so awesome, there is a mod to get it onto GTA:SA but i haven't got the PC version, so i'll have to live without it, also i think the peugeot 206 is a nice car (nothing fancy i know, i just like it) and would be cool in a GTA
How about an Aston Martin? Oh Yeah, we had one in SA. Erm, i think maybe a Renault Clio? Thats my car that i'm getting when i'm older!
mattmarsden

like other people have said, tons of different cars. So many cars that you occasionally see the same car. Also what other people said, cars that last longer. Maybe if cars were harder to break into, it would make havng a car last longer a lot more meaningful unlike in any other one where you just go around blowing cars up and stealing another one.

(random point to bring up but i'm almost certain it's based on the E-type, Grrrr)
adamba4e, i think the Chevrolet 64 impala is meant to be the Blade? it's a lowrider, and looks very much like an impala when you put a roof on it in the "loco lo de" or whatever that modding garage near ganton was called
They need to bring back the STINGER. That ride was pimp as hell.

They need some of the coolest cars in the world in the next GTA. I want to have a Mclaren F1 and boats and heli's that go very fast.
One thing GTA needs a bit of work on is car damage and panels.
I thought the car damage was a lot more superior to other games of that genre such as True Crime and The Getaway.
You know I really do think it does need a little more damage though, my last post was just a suggestion. It is next gen consol, so we should probably get more realistic damage affects on cars. We'll probably get some more realistic damage to the main character in the game. I kinda would like some newer weapons. Like make the game modern day and have some really cool weapons that have never been in the past GTA's. Most of the weapons are the same, and I understand some weapons are like Icons to GTA like the 9mm pistol and so on. The Main thing is though I would like some new weapons like maybe a Semi-Auto shotgun or a Blow-Torch you can pick up in a garage and use it as a weapon. That gives me a cool thought. You can pick up almost anything that a real person can and use it like a weapon, take the Blow-Torch and cut a piece off of some sheet metal and use the sharpest point like a knife. Or if there is no weapons around and you run out of ammo you can go to like a rusted lead pipe and break it off if you have your character strong enough and use it like a melee weapon. Sorry if I take up alot of room on th boards I just want to list some of my ideas! I got tons of them! I'll list one more Idea. You can mod the car almost anyway you want. Take it to a racing store and pick up some racing tires, a 575 motor to install, and some nitro. Install it and go over to a street racing shop that the cops don't know about back in an allyway and get your car tuned out any way you want it. It'll look cool also because the PS3 will make it look soooo real! Well I hope you like my idea!
Yep, i do anyway! You don't take up space on the boards. Everyones opinion is valued, especially if it isn't flaming! I liked your idas about the customisable weapons, but i think maybe that that is maybe a bit too detailed? I mean you would hardly have the same weapon twice!
Oh, like the Yazuka Stingers? (a gang car in GTA 3), yeah they're good if that's what you're talking about
Those were the red and grey version of the normal stinger. The stinger in Vice City came in a convertable.
i remember at some point someone or other saying they intended to make everything in next gen gta have its own physics like kicking a can or something. if thats true maybe using anything as a weapon is possible...that would be pretty damn cool.

pickin up a brick during a gang fight in the park in the playground would be pretty sweet. And kickin up the sand, andd using the swing chain to coke other people! muaahahaha.
ok...
seriously though, the car damage needs to be more realistic for me. Once i was driving slowly out of a driveway, scratch the side panel, the entire door falls off. whats up with that. And another time i step on the break and stop, but drifted into a wall, my bumber and hood falls off. That doesnt work !!!
I also cant wait to try out Getaway 3 though.

It was just announced that the PS3 will include a 60gb harddrive, if you were R* what would you use it for, I would store details about damage to the environment, the change in personalites for characters (assuming R* go with my AI chatbots idea for the peds) etc, so the game is just the way you left it, so you can finish off what you started
I think thats a brilliant idea, so all the lamposts you knocked down stayed knocked down, the only problem is how much memory would this take?

A new GTA game would be great. I have owned ever GTA game, I sold Vice City because it was getting to old to fast, and San Andreas just because I didn't like it.
But I would like the new GTA game to be a state or a big city. And more than one playable character. Maybe just Tommy Vercetti though he was a pretty cool cat. :P
i hope that in the next gta game you can leave ur cars anywhere u want without them disappearing like in past gta games.

13:08 Intriguing news from US entertainment bible Variety this afternoon, with first reports of a potential new TV show in the offing inspired by Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto series.
US cable station Spike TV, which is apparently "a place where a guy can be a guy and not feel bad about it", is contemplating plans for a TV show based on Rockstar's award-winning, if always controversial, crime-a-thon.
Sounds splendid to us, but we have to stress it's just only under consideration as the TV network relaunches as a more macho brand. Variety reports that among its many new projects is "a sort of live-action take on the vidgame Grand Theft Auto", but provides scant further details.
We have to say it seems unlikely to us that any deal has been struck with Rockstar direct, as we're sure there'd be a big announcement. And anyway it would probably cost Spike TV an absolute fortune to license that iconic name. It seems more likely any show will be 'inspired' by the overall GTA ethos rather than directly carrying an official endorsement, although we suppose it's not out of the bounds of possibility. However, at the time of writing Rockstar reps were unavailable for comment.
Still, an interesting snippet of news, and we leave you with the thoughts of Spike TV overlord Doug Herzog, who told Variety, "The network is about testosterone, action and unpretentiousness and we're unapologetic about all of it."
Seems GTA may just have found its spiritual TV home.
Well this sounds interesting...not. Actually pretty stupid :(
It was just announced that the PS3 will include a 60gb harddrive, if you were R* what would you use it for, I would store details about damage to the environment, the change in personalites for characters (assuming R* go with my AI chatbots idea for the peds) etc, so the game is just the way you left it, so you can finish off what you started
Actually what I´m really hoping for with the hard drive is the ability to "mod" the game. I don´t mean like hacks/cheats, but like new custom car models, Weapon models, Player models... and all kinds of fun stuff. Just about anyone who has GTA on PC knows what I´m talking about. In GTA:VC I had just about every single car replaced with something else. For example my Comet was a Lamborghini...
Oh and pretty surely we´ll have the ability to create our own "radio station" with the hard drive, just like with Pc and Xbox.
Can´t believe this thread is still alive. :D
yeah own radio station is a must.
that tv thing sounds stupid, they're just using the name to sell wat is probably a lame version of "the man show".
Mr Turnip
03-16-2006, 16:15
I don't think that TV show will be good, it sounds corny, i don't really care much for my own radiostation. This thread is still alive because Next Gen GTA isn't out yet lol, and there are still people who want to express their veiws, it's just like asking why the "PS3 controllers" thread is still alive... for the simple reason that people want to have their say on how good / bad it will be

If we were to have tracking devices on our cars, it could start gang wars. Think about it. You find out who stole your ride and you put a cap in their butt!
We should also have OnStar to find locations without guessing.
Yeah, that would work brilliant on online mode! It would start rivalries and wars!
Vercetti
03-16-2006, 21:58
Not only would you know how to get your car back, but you would know a hideout of your enemies! This would inspire strategy and alertness. You could set up look-outs to warn your base.
Yeah, or make decoy bases and set up a syprise attack when a member tries to come and get their car. Oh, i'm now wishing for some footage at E3! With full 20 modes of online, and a huge map!
Vercetti
03-16-2006, 22:05
The next gen gta having online is a must. Revolutionizing the game by having online mode would skyrocket it's popularity. It would be a second life for me! We already know what to expect from GTA but online would knock our socks off.
Yes, the only problem i find now is fitting it all in. I have these forums, My own ste, my friends, my job in the shop, runescape, PS3 online, my skating comps and my family. what am i going to do!
Vercetti
03-16-2006, 22:17
I have schooling, a job and a wife so I know where you're coming from. We just need to come up with a way to make days longer!
Online gaming is considered to be many second lives for a lot of people out there. Ex: The Sims. (not me though, in fact I haven't ever played any online games, but most definitely would play GTA online)
Yeah, its going to be a massive problem, i think i may be able to drop my friends, i mean who need a social life when you have Snake and Online GTA!
Vercetti
03-16-2006, 22:25
There should be a rule as to how long you can be online for. This would help us manage our days better and make priorities more important.

To the guy who asked:
I think thats a brilliant idea, so all the lamposts you knocked down stayed knocked down, the only problem is how much memory would this take?
Not much acturally cause all which would be stored is the xyz position and then the xyz rotation. so 6 numbers, which would be pretty small and easy to fit on a 60gb hdd, you could play for a year and only take up like 1gb!
Not bad, and then if you wanted the game world back to narmal you could just delite the memory!
Mr Turnip
03-17-2006, 15:29
That would be wierd though, meybe if the lamp posts do stay knocked down, when you next load / save the game, it should be back to normal

How about a minigame to unlock cars and steal them? The more successful you were at the minigame, the better your "skill" would be at jacking cars. How about a minigame for hotwiring cars with the smae skill element in place. It would be cool if each car had differnt ways to unlock/hotwire so that you had to remember how to do each for a specific car. This same idea could be applied to disableing alarm/security systems.
You should be able to rob more stores and especially, you should be able to pull bank heists. Taken online, you could get help from other online people with different skills.
I also think R* should take the "skill" and "respect" elements much further. Going back to the online bank robbery suggestion, it would be awesome if you got with other people with different skills and the skills that the group had influenced how successful the robbery was. Someone would need to be an expert at picking locks, someone would have to be the wheel man, another person would need to be real intimidating and therefore have alot of "respect".
Rogdoll physics is a must
Ability to actually see the body armor and see it degrade as you get hit. And your health is shown in how you walk or limp, etc.
Much more variation in weather. There should be seasons (where trees change color and lose their leaves, snow would make it necessary to have a 4WD vehicle, etc.).
Thats just a couple of my wishes/thoughts for the next GTA. Sorry if some of these ideas have been posted already, this is a long topic and I couldn't read everything.
Vercetti
03-17-2006, 17:27
If lamposts were knocked down, they should stay down. Until you see some utitlity workers repair them. It should be like that for everything that gets damaged, except cars. In the current GTA's if you knock something down, 2 hours later it's already fixed. I also think permanent air spray is a must.
Seeing that GTA is going to utilise the Hard Drive the scale of the game has just got bigger in my head.
A hell lot of traffic.
More pedestrians.
Sweet graphics.
And i'm expecting no less than the whole shabang.
the next GTA will have to be equisit to match the other competition, but if u look at previous titles i.e. GTA one and two the were san andreas liberty city and vice city so maybe the next GTA will be a remake of the not so popualr, GTA london but if rockstar do they will have to compete with the getaway, tough call rockstar!!
Vercetti
03-17-2006, 18:18
GTA London wouldn't have to compete with Getaway. Especially after Black Monday, they would have nothing to worry about. Anything that GTA slaps their name on will be better than anything else out there.
Mr Turnip
03-17-2006, 18:23
I couldn't have said it better myself Vercetti, Rockstar have indeed gained an awesome reputation for amazing award winning games, but in the case of a new GTA London, i don't think it will be too succesful, and also don't think we'll be seeing another GTA based in London

Hey there:
The best place for a next gen GTA is latin america.
I already said it but it would be so great to have it there. All the latin families fighting each other in intense clan battles inside a colonial mansion would rock.
Also the HDD is a go for GTA, because it could instal some files and then play them at the same time as from the BluRay, so you could have faster load time or more ingame elements.
OVER.

I would just like to point out that the amount of traffic and ped's is really only limited to one thing, ram. Which is only 512mb. And I don't see how a bigger hdd would affect graphics, that really doesn't make sense. And in relation to my more earlier suggestion about the objects which stay where they are when you hit them, I would put a age variable on the objects when they fall over, the older they get the more destroyed they get until they are nothing more than dust, a which point they would be deleted, could also apply to dead bodies, they would slowly rot until they are gone altogether.
Mr Turnip
03-18-2006, 10:25
Yeah but only if you murder someone in the country where it's all abandoned, and then when you come back they should have rotted a bit, and maybe the main character makes a comment on the smell and stuff, would be alright, but if you murder someone in the city then an ambulance should come by and paramedics could do their best to save the ped, and if no hope, then stick him in the back of the ambulance in a stretcher, that would be cool!
I think people need to stop stating the obvious, i mean there's still people saying they want more cars and peds and stuff, it's pretty obvious the everybody wants that, i don't see any need for it, i mean at least if your gonna say you want more cars say which ones you'd like to see, and if you want more guns and stuff then say which ones

I LOVE IT! Thats that would be so funny, imagine the multiplayer online, eveyones shooting each other blowing up stuff and you run in with the blow up hammer hitting people with the funny squeaks, I would be rolling on the floor with laughter!
I wanna see a sort of MMO GTA definatly.
Imagine starting up, you become a taxi driver or a henchman for a big gang, or working at a Cluckin' Bell. Then when you earn a bit of cash you can buy a car or a gun, or hire a henchman for a gang like a clan. U could also become a copper (police) and if anyone gets run over or shot they can report the criminal and you can kill them, to stop it just being a free for all.
Imagine u would have a few huge gangs run by rich people who the other gangs would try to get their henchman to go under cover and kill or something. It would be like a huge world full of people going about their own business but then it would be like a mafia run city, how awesome would that be?
People could like, buy gyms and taxi companies to employ the 'noobs', and have a rivalry with other taxi firms etc.

Do you really want a game about working at a fastfood restaurant? Seriously... I get what your saying, but it just wouldn´t be GTA anymore.
I really don´t want to see any of these MMO things in it. I personally hated even the little things you had to do in GTA:SA, like easting and working out.
GTA is not just a free for all. That´s what the storyline is for. Also, there´s so much things to do after finishing it (minigames, hidden packages, stunts...), that in my opinnion calling GTA a free for all is just plain wrong.
i think san andreas was amazing they need it to be set now with the story again were u start of as a small time gangstar they should be even more hatred between grove and ballas and were with ballas
Yes, Sand Andreas was great, but I personally wasn´t a big fan of the whole gansta thing. Maybe it´s because I´m finnish and we basically don´t have much of this gang stuff, but I just never found it appealing.
I´m not saying that another "gansta" style GTA wouldn´t be good, but if it indeed is one, please let there be more than 1 radio station, with music I can listen to withouth considering suicide. :D
Oh and the game most likely won´t have Ballas or Grove... Last time I checked R* said that SA ended the GTA3 series (or something similiar). and the next GTA would start a new "chapter" in the game series. I wouldn´t be surprised if we saw some hints of the old games though. Like familiar radio hosts (Lazlow, Fernando...), or visits from old characters (Rosenberg & Kent Paul in SA, Donald love in VC).
i mean a free for all of killing

I think an online game mode something like this..
All cops, security, pedestrians, and most other characters are all bots/computers. It's a huge world of 30 players per world and you go around playing the game like normal, advancing and trying to get money. But in the middle of your normal game there's the other players trying to get you to screw up or maybe they'll aid you and you will join alliances with them.
Than people might say something about people who are always trying to bother you. Well maybe than 15 players, in a world bigger than SA and you can't see where the other players are inless they're on your friends list. To be a friend, you'd have to send them an invatation to be a friend, and they'd have to accept. Either players would be able to cancel the friendship at any time.
There could be many benefits from the friendship thing, maybe you two could go on the same mission together, making it easier. Or maybe you could get discounts at places the other player owned(if they do that kind of thing in this game) such as hotels or what not. If you saw an enemy on the street, you'd start a fight with them, with guns, hands or whatever. And whenever it got out of hand, cops would come and you'd have to run away. I know this would be really hard to make but it would be awesome.
Like I've mentioned a few times, I really hope the hand combat is more in depth next time around.

Sounds like you only want 30 players in one city. That would be way too much space for little amounts of players. I would like to fill cities like real life. It might be too many peds but I think you would be able to fit atleast 100 players. There wouldn't be many gangs to affilitate with if there was as little as 30 players in one city.

I just came back from a holiday in Europe and thailand. In all I visited 12 countries and almost all of them could have a successful GTA game set there... imagine GTA: Rome or paris!! It would be off the wall with the mixture of the old and new

san andreas was almost exactly like that but the drugs. They wouldn't spend all this money to make pretty much the same game but with one thing changed. I'am ready for a dramatic change by they to expand on all they have done its good but they could make such a much better game :D

There are a lot more than 12 countries in Europe! Did you go to Scotland?
Anyway, i hear what you are saying about them setting an amazing game in Europe, i'd love to see GTAs version of the Vatican or the Eiffell tower.
Also, Adamb4e, is San Andreas not almost exactly the same as what you just described?

GTA:Gold Coast would ROCK! any here thats been to the gold coast will tell you thats it's a great place. Or maybe GTA:South Sydney, now that would be a hell of a game! I still stand by what I said before that GTA:Tokyo would be the best, followed closely by GTA:Sydney, then maybe some American or European place since they aren't as cool
Oh right, i thought you said all 12 countries. My mistake. Sorry.
Anyway, Edinburghs cool, i have a flat (well technically my parents!) that looks onto the castle. I cant walk around and talk though as my accent is Glaswegian and i'd get killed if i talked my own accent there! (Edinburgh and Glasgow are not the best of friends!)
Hey, that would be a good idea for gang wars in the GTA, pretty good idea eh!
gangwars in Scotland:P ,
The developers are actually settled in Edinburgh isn't it? Then it would be simple for them to make Scotland :P
Its Dundee, another "Major" city in Scotland!
And you'd be suprised about the amount of Gangwars about here! Especially in Glasgow.

Max, England
Yeah, i support celtic btw!
i hink they would like it if it was some Ameican teams, so maybe we should get soem of the action now.

Or it could be called GTA:The firms and could include all the Premiership and SPL firms like the Millwall bushwhackers and the Chelsea Headhunters and you pick which Firm you are on.
Silas we should present a game like this to R*
Firms by the way for all you americans are sort of gangs that support football clubs (soccer clubs). If you have ever seen Football Factory or Green Street you will understand me.
Or they could just release this game in britain.
I support Chelsea by the way C'Mon you blues
Nah, Chealsea are good, but most of their supporters probably only started supporting them when they started winning! (Although you are probably a true fan)
I didnt know Millwall had a firm, its probably not very big though.
Whats the biggest Rivalry down there? Is it Arsenal Totenahm or Liverpool Everton? I think that'd make a good game though, like you have to assasinate some teams star player and the guys would take that as an insult and start going after your team, so you would have to defend them, maybe R* will go for something lke this?

Silas millwall do have a firm and they are one of the hardest around
Anyway There is Man City Vd Man Utd, Fulham Chelsea are a stone's throw away I think it would be best to do the whole country and stay with a firm and when you are against a rival team. There is a huge kick ass fight in the middle of the pitch.

Location WILL NOT MATTER.
You might think I'm crazy for saying this but the next gen GTA could take place in the North Pole and it will still rock. I'm not biased towards Europe, Australia, Middle East, or Asia. The game will still be good regardless of the setting.
But, in my opinion, GTA needs to stay in America. All current GTA's have American parodies and themes that won't work anywhere else in the world. I'm impressed with the people in Scotland who hit American culture on the nail as far as depicting it in a video game.
Los Angeles, Miami, and New York have been done already. It's time for a change. My hope is it will be in Washington DC.

I don't understand why Adam has a hard-on for the L.A gangbanger theme. I bet he's a little white boy from the burbs who wears long white t-shirts and baggy pants. I also bet he has at least two athletic team jerseys that represent "his hood", haha. I have this imagine in my head of Adam walking through shermin oaks mall with his pants hanging off his ass wearing a white-t and a skull cap!!! haha. There is an epidemic in America of white surburban kids who try to act like black gangsters. Its very depressing.
Adam, you keep saying that Rockstar did a horrible job representing L.A and the gangbangers. Here is a clue: Rockstar wasn't trying to make an accurate representation of L.A and its gang life. They were trying to make a parody of the city and make fun of the gangbangers. In my opinion, they did a brilliant job. This game isn't meant to be realistic, so stop hoping that they are going to make an accurate representation of L.A or of its ignorant black gangsters. The purpose was to make a funny and interesting game, not a real life experience.
Also, you have to consider the reason the gang part of the game sucked was because it just isn't interesting for a GTA game. It just isn't fun driving around as an ignorant gangbanger is South Central L.A. The only thing black gangbangers do is smoke weed, do drive-bys, and have illegitimate kids. They aren't as complex as you would imagine...GET OVER IT BUDDY!

I'll admit Chelsea are a good team the managers an arse though and how they achieved success pisses me off.
Biggest Rivalry in Football is Liverpool V Man Utd hands down.
Rockstar originated in Leeds if i'm not Mistaken and with the ability to stream Blu-ray, Hard Drive, Cell and RSX all together not only do i think they could make a GTA that a PC or Xbox 360 can't touch without severly compromising on something (bold statement i know), i think they could do the whole of the UK (including Ireland) to scale.
And could probably do it accurately as well if they had access to satelite tech.

Arsenal vs Tottenham vs Chelsea vs Fulham vs C.Palace
Man U vs Man City

Both have dominated Football for a decade. the northwest is just simply too small for Liverpool and Man U to co-exist peacefully.
It's just that when Liverpool dominate football we get jack **** for recognition, but when Man U do they get honoured by the Queen get super rich, and monopolise the market.

In case any of you pasty-skinned Brits have forgotten, I would like to remind you that this is a GRAND THEFT AUTO ON PS3 thread and not a discussion about English Premier League "futball". Nobody cares about English soccer, so please take your irrelevant discussion elsewhere. Feel free to come back when you have something to post regarding GTA on Ps3.
I have yet to see any Americans posting anything about major league American sports, so I don't think it should be too difficult for you Brits to also refrain. Also try to avoid posting ridiculous ideas such as, "GTA: Glasgow would be a great game!". Or, GTA: Canada would kick ass! These posts are not only silly, but a complete waste of time and space. It is completely irrelevant where anyone wants the game to take place. Try to remember that this game is going to have to appeal to a broad audience and while you think having a game based in Glasgow might be interesting to you, the other 99.9999999999999% of GTA players have no interest in playing in some Ghetto-azsed Scottish town that nobody has ever heard of. End of Rant!
And when did this guy get stabbed?
because there'd probably be a similar incident if not worse if i went into History archives.
I live in Glasgow, there are daily gang attacks here (Especially on Match days!) all because of that. There were a few bombings when it was really bad (about 12-15 years ago) Luckily it has calmed down now though. Slightly!
Also, all the people that have been alking about football abviously care about it so it may be slighly off topic but it still has relevance to the game.
Also, Glasgow is the biggest city in Scotland, and although you may not care for it it is my opinion that this game would kick ass, and i am entitled to it. I'm sure many gamers, even Americans, may be tired with that theme and may want to try something else, i doubt it but it is possible, and i have sat and played the GTA games set in US and loved them, so maybe you could try something a little bit that we would want, it may do you a world of good!

I'm sure every city in the world has its criminal element. This does not mean it would make a good video game. The cities that are featured in GTA games have to have distinguishable landmarks and personality. Glasgow or the rest of Scotland have neither. Nobody outside of Scotland would recognize the parody or landmarks associated with a game located in that country. I'm not a huge fan of the idea of GTA: Europe, but I agree that there would be a few interesting locations Rockstar could use. London, Rome, and Amsterdam would be good settings. Scotland does not fit the GTA profile. My hometown of Philadelphia, PA doesn't fit the profile either, but you don't see me makinig silly comments about how the next great GTA should be based on Philly and Wilmington, DE.
Nah, i'm just the kind of person that has a sense of humor, sorry for trying to make a joke.

They should make one where when you go to jail you have to break out or something
Vercetti
03-20-2006, 07:20
I've recommended the jail thing before and got bashed, understandably. I wouldn't want to spend a lot of time in there. Maybe just a mission or two where you had to break out one of your buddies. Or how about having parodies from the Fox TV Series "Prison Break"?
100 pages of this thread. Is this the first topic that will have that amount?
I have never saw "Prison Break" is it any good?
Vercetti
03-20-2006, 07:46
Prison Break is a really good show. They are making a second season shortly. It's about this guy that robbs a bank to get to his brother, who is in prison for something he didn't do. His whole point of going to jail on purpose is to escape his brother from death row.
I think certain scenarios and events from the show would make good missions for GTA.
aussiedude
03-20-2006, 08:09
maybe part of one of the missions should be doing something to get caught and then going into jail and breaking out your homie :D . I GOT IT! Everytime you get caught there should be 2 options, go to jail OR pay $5000 fine or more(or less) depending on what you did. So if your saving money and you did something real bad which would cost you heaps then you can just do time in jail to pay the debt, like a day (gta time) per thousand dollars. So if you did something like punch a cop then that would be like $500 fine, so have a day in jail (12mins) or if you stole a jet for a airbase and blew up cars and killed heaps of people then that would be like $50000, so 50 days(20hrs) in which case you would just pay the money  .
Vercetti
03-20-2006, 08:17
I like your ideas. I better start saving! If that's the case then I will be in jail for many days or paying the city lots of money.
Thats a brilliant idea, kind of like "Bail" money? i think that would work really well but make you be able to do something during those 20 hrs such as work out in the prison Gym or such.
Vercetti
03-20-2006, 08:35

Well alot of people were saying that they always have lots of money by the end of the game, this would solve the problem. , plus it would be fun, you could try and break out, there could be no wanted levels in prison only gaurds which are about as tough as normal cops, plus there could be prison riots etc [thinks of all the fun things which could happen] :D . Ok someone let R* know, email them!

Hmm. Kind of a cool concept, but just think about your track records from the old GTAs. Around 2000 hit&run´s, 3000 people killed, 4000 cars stolen... I personally haven´t got caught by the cops once in GTA:SA, so if I had that record in the next GTA, it would suck to get caught. BIG TIME. Like a 100 000 000$ fine or 24 hours of sitting infront of my TV to get out of jail. :D
I like the idea of having a jail in GTA. If not as a part like you descripen, then as one of those places that involve a mission. Like area... 59(?) in SA. So, like a mission of busting a friend/crimelord out of jail. That would be kinda cool.
Yeah, also maybe a mission where you had to get a big Wanted level then get busted to get into jail, say to assasinate someone?
assasinate someone in jail? wat if you assassinated someone outside of jail and thats wat makes u have to spend actual time inside rather than get out with a bribe.

dont see why he should be banned just because he took the piss out of a moderator...unless of course u get banned for taking the piss out of anyone.
back on topic: how can they improve the underwaterness of the next gta? it was always a bit boring having to swim. mayb they cud include jet ski's, or scuba equipment and wen u dive u can hide stuff underwater/see dead bodies that had been thrown there.
Vercetti
03-20-2006, 18:23
I thought the underwater swimming sucked in SA. There was moments were I was trying to swim down but I wouldn't go anywhere. Anyone else have this problem? I think they can still improve upon this bigtime.
Mr Turnip
03-20-2006, 18:43
I never had that problem Vercetti, i quite liked that feature.
Gonzo, he hasn't only taken the piss out of that moderator, and even if that was the only thing he had done, he insulted a valued member, and a member of higher authority and maturity than him, for no apparent reason... he has done worse stuff in the past, hence me saying "I'm surprised he has lasted so long without being banned"

Custom car modification is a must. I know we had it before on SA, but they can still make it better. Making a car from the ground up might be asking a little too much but maybe having just a frame to work from would be cool. I would also like to have an expansion pack that gives you more options and story missions.
yep, car modification ! for sure. But this time it really needs to be better. More parts you can buy like new coloured windows and stuff like that, a little light there and a little light there, if you know what I mean. spoilers!

For underwater I would add submarines and air tanks which work the same way as the parachute did in SA. (AKA you select it like a weapon and hit attack/use). I would also allow the player to fire weapons under water. One thing which is just another little crazy idea I had once is sharks, yes a la Jaws style sharks. Now imagine being out in the middle of the ocean and all of a sudden CJ hears a the DA DUH DA DUH DADUHADUHADUHDADUH. CJ turns around sees a fin, follow by jaws!
to be continued ... right now.
CJ dies
the end!
It would make swimming more fun! Although I would make it so that the sharks only come after you if your bleeding, or if you have a dog near you. At least thats what I would do, I would also add somewhere a aquarium, like those big places which are part above water and part below, then I would go it that underwater aquarium and shoot the glass  .
(PS: Whats the record for the longest topic on this site? Could we break it? :P )
This and PS3 controller are both tied at 100 at the moment.

I love the idea of an aquarium mission, if they're going to make a graphically impressive game the shooting glass and showing the water rushing out as well as fishes would really show off the consoles power.

OH we have to so beat that! . I just like this topic cause there's less fighting, (there's still fighting just very little amounts). I would be really scared if R* uses all our good ideas we came up with on this topic, cause that would mean (that it would be a great game  ) that they have been looking around the net and stealing ideas, which means that they would be turning into Microsoft  . Although I wouldn't complain. We have had good ideas which would be great for a game, and also I just thought about that shooting the glass thing I said and graphical it would be amasing! Eye popping good! but I not sure the PS3 could do it, water simulation is a pretty hard task, I've do it before and it can take up to a 30mins to calculate the movements of water for a 10sec long animation, and then you have to render it with a ray tracer to make it look right which involves a reflection and refraction ray tracers of usually a depth of about 3 maybe 7 if you want it to look really good, and plus it's a huge memory hog, for a really complex detailed sim it might require 100mb of ram JUST FOR PHYSICS CALCULATIONS!
If the PS3 could pull it off ... then I must say I will be shocked and if the PS3 can do it in realtime... , lets just say I might have a heartattack and I'm not joking!

All current GTA's have American parodies and themes that won't work anywhere else in the world. I'm impressed with the people in Scotland who hit American culture on the nail as far as depicting it in a video game
I've always been of the opinion that the humour in GTA was distinctly UN-american.
Yes the parodies of of american culture, music etc.. but the humour is largely British which is a result of the development teams involved.

Drill n Bass [a.k.a Experimental Jungle]
Surely you made that one up?
Drill & Bass?
What do the DJ's use, Black and DECKers? LOL
the humor is the british depiction of the US. it is quite funny being British myslef, to see everything that i thought about you guys turned into a videogame.
Also try not to double post Shaolin, but yeah, i dont see what they use, and B+D, Good joke!

I like the idea of the aquarium alot, then you blast open the glass, ccausing all the fish to die out and then the sharks bite someones head off right next to you, or you could eat da fish, hmm sprunk!
Let's beat that other topic, since this and PC talk is the only topics I actually psot in, so I want this topic to pwn!

I don't see how Gta is un-american. It doesn't make any sense to me that every setting is in the U.S but the humor isn't? Everything about the game is American. I thought the developers from Scotland were very accurate as far as depicting our culture. It wouldn't have been any different if the team was from the states. Maybe except for the band from Vice City called "Love Fist" which I thought was hilarious.
I love the aquarium idea. I would like to shoot out glass and watch all the tons of water and fishies splash out into public, while body surfing your way out. Amusement parks, museums, accessible landmarks (statue of liberty, big ben, eiffel tower, DC monuments), all would be nice additions to the game.

The custom character idea would be cool but very hard to implement into a story mode. They did it with SA, only with the tattoos, clothes and body physique.
Pick pocketing would be nice. Sort of like a side game or just another ways of getting money. If your really good at it, there would be no reason to blast anyone for money! But that's half the fun of GTA.
What would be in available in your Black Market?

I think that even after the game has been turned off then there should still be damage, unless it gets fixed. Great list.
You should be able to have bigger gangs, and larger gang wars. And you should be able to assassinate people like the President or maybe the Monarch of France

The Black Market would have guns that are very powerful like the gat, rocket launcher, etc. and it could be a type of mission where you steal guns that will be put in the black market

I know to make the black market more fun how about making the blackmarket a actural market which moves all around the map setting up in empty underground car parks, alley ways, etc. And it could sell the big bombs which I suggested :D .
I had another idea recently (yes ANOTHER ONE [everyone just rolls their eyes and moans]) how about a customisable display, for example being able to move the clock and money counters around or turn them off, move the radar or make it bigger or smaller etc, just so that you can get the display just right to suit you. Might come in handy who knows.

Setting up the screen how you want it is a good idea. It's the simple things in life, right? I personally liked how GTA3's screen was set up.
The numbers of life and armor was the best thing going for them. Also, the life should go way past 100 if you upgrade your character enough. I don't want him to have too much life. For ex: if you stood in a shootout for 30 minutes still being alive is a little ridiculous. Maybe a limit of 2000?
My ideas for Next Gen GTA
I’m sure all of these have been mentioned before but i will mention them again and i’m sure none of you will bother checking through 100 pages to check for them!
Graphics
I feel that Graphics are okay in the current GTAs but could do with a makeover, especially with the extra memory on the Blu-Ray disks. The character needs to be more detailed and so do the cars. I feel that the buildings are okay though and the detail will not be needed on them, although the interiors do need some work.
Character
I think that the clothes option in San Andreas was not enough to customise. Sure you could get tatoos and haircuts but the feeling of making CJ “Your Guy” did not appear for me. I think a good idea would be to add many more clothers shops plus all the usual barbers shops and tatoo parlours but the option to maybe have Plastic Surgery, maybe to evade the cops, which would also add a new element to the gameplay, a lasting wanted level which may make you escape the country, maybe also to see wanted posters of you in Shops and pedestrians running away from you and into Phone boxes to call the cops when you go back to that city.
Storyline
I think that the storyline in San Andreas was perfect, the epic story of betrayal and revenge was enthralling and i really enjoyed watching the cutscenes. If the Next GTA has half as good a storyline as San Andreas then i’ll be happy.
Setting
GTA in America has lost it’s appeal to me, we have already used many of the good cities where you could set a game (Besides Washington) Europe and Japan would be very good settings to me, especially the cities of Tokyo, Paris, Rome and London. GTA: Glasgow would be very fun as there is always many gang fights there and The Old Firm ravalry would be a good inclusion to the game.
Vehicles
I would love more vehicles in the game as in San Andreas you could rarely go 2 minutes without seeing the same car. I think that it would be good to go for 5 minutes seeing many different cars, but we need more cars that are rapidly different from the average.
Online
Gang Wars is a must for GTA: Online, which is an obvious expansion that they need to include in next gen. I think that only a few members should be able to be gang leaders and the majority needd to work their way up. There should be various different modes including Takeover nad the classic Capture the Bag.
What do you think of my ideas? I will probably receive a few arguements due to this but i sppose everyone is entitiled their opinion, as long as you dont flame me!
