I'm not saying that I want it not to be another knowing R* they may do a follow up like liberty city stories all the way up until it gets to GTA you never know but i'm just doubting anything absolutely new like GTA 5 or GTA 6 in that matter.

like others have mentioned i hope there is a better sense of time and natural diasters. i also hope they have better physics and AI. im not worried that it will be a blow out at all. theres to many people that love gta games. online would be ok but then in my opinion it would turn in to like a shooting game where you just run around shooting other players. But they could make it like coop online or they could just leave it at free roam where players walk around all the towns and stuff. but that would get real boring real fast. plus people would abuse it by swearing at others and just being a prick. :evil: if they could get the rights it would be interesting to have real events happen if they did the 2000. like the twin towers, the war, london bombing and such. also actual cities name by there real name and real carbrands. but this is my fantasy and to get the rights of this it would cost millions to do. plus people would protest because the of some gay reason all protesting groups come up with to wreck our fun. And i hope they keep producing gta games after this one

If R* goes to bankrupt or if they decide to never do a gTA, i am sure that many companies would be interested on buying the franchise so they can continue it by themselves.

No you didn't miss anything. Someone mentioned that maybe Rockstar will stop making GTA games. Then I said if they did, that some other company would take over or make the same type of game.

Not necessarily SE, but the same game legacy as FFtrue, it wouldnt be hard for the GTA series to rack up an outstanding legacy like the mario series, or the final fanasy series....but of course, it means nothing if they dont keep dishing out quality titles.
I think GTA could become as legendary as the mario games and the Final Fantasy series, because in every game something new is added, unlike in the mario and FF games where for the most part its a graphical improvement

I actually find it annoying that the GTA series is less popular or less recognised than Final Fantasy, or (especially) Mario...
I don't really think the Grand Theft Auto franchise is less popular if you compare: Final Fantasy has been on the market for like almost 20 year?? ( am I right?) , and Grand Theft Auto for like 10 years. So Grand Theft Auto is really popular. If they go on like this, like Square did with Final Fantasy, the franchise will be a lot more popular in the coming years!
And for Mario it isn't weird at all, the franchise begun like 30 years ago :?
Actually I find the Mario franchise has not been delivering up to the promise with the last one: Sunshine. Let's hope they get up this franchise, and give all they got! And not let every game use mario...I personally hate that.

^^To me the last few Mario games to me have become predictable to me. I mean they just aren't fun to me anymore especially since the gaming world is changing into HD and Nintendo really doesn't care about it obviously because it isn't going with the flow. Now I can accept that, but they need to go into the new age as well as still make it innovative, like they did bringing in the new controller.

i know weve kinda changed subjects form what they should put it in this next gen title, to finacial and stuff, but i just now made a profile, and this is my first post, so ima say wat i wanted to say
i think, if there ganna start of this new gen title, they deffinutly need better graphics, its pretty obvious, since its next gen graphics. and better phsyics
but what i thought would be cool, would be the little things you would have to do
like, youll have a gas meter on your car, and you would have to drive to a gas station eventualy and fill up ur gas tank
and, i think you should make it multiplayer, with like different modes
like a free roam living mode, where people live there lifes like normal people.
a gang mode, where its basicully like free roam, just more gang shootings
and i think it would be cool, if like, you have voice enabled for head sets if they make it online, but make it like, so u can hear it if there close, like say if there walking up to u and there talking, there speech goes from quite to louder, judging by the distance they are to u.
all in all w/e they do to this game, ima save up my money and buy, i just figured that if they added this, it would be like x10 better

I wasn't talking about the story, that's a whole different thing. There so many stories that they can use iun a GTA game that are amazing, but from what I'm saying, i'm talking features. Eventually like you said yes they will max out on new features and that's what I'm talking about. I'm saying there's only so much stuff that you can do with a game like GTA. And some people who want a game just to test out new features aren't gonna be to happy when their are none to put in the game. Eventually after GTA4 maybe 2 or 3 GTA games in the future of next-gen they will have put all they can in a GTA game for this generation. Now maybe bring it back with PS4, and Xbox 540(or whatever the hell it's going to be called by then).

Well I'll take back what I said (not for arguements sake) because GTA is so free roaming. In a huge setting like a city, we should be able to do anything that we do in real life. Maybe not right now, but if GTA is still around a while from now, then the possibilities could go really far.

By the time it gets on the PS4, they won't run out of ideas. All they need to do is make every building in the game fall apart on demand. Another thing is to have many random sub-programs running which would cause very random weather, dust on the ground, people, and garbage on the streets. Trees need to blow in the wind and grass as well. Cars need to explode in 100's of pieces with the objects flying in the air. If you shoot a tree or blow up a tree it should stay like that forever or for a very long time. These things should be on the PS4 versions of GTA. PS3 may be able to handle some of these things but not all of them.

Imagine glass shattering properly. Like say they include ragdoll physics and you throw someone into a shop window glass flies everywhere.
A bit like the scene in Spiderman 2 when Doc Oc throws a car through the cafe but not so dramatic.
Is ragdol pyshics the best there is?
I mean i remember it on the first Dave Mirra's game, and most of the time it looked like there were no bones in his body at all. Its a bit contradicory that everyone wants superb realism and then ragdoll physics.
I think they should create and use a new physics engine.
It would also be good in GTA4 if you can buy like some empty land, and you decide whats built there.
I also would like the world to progress while im in game.
Construction sites with people on that as you play the game the building is constructed. People moving house, Kids growing up, people actually doing something eachday instead of walking around in circles.
I would like more interactivity with the NPC's also. I liked it when the people would talk to you on the streets in SA, and depending on your response, you got a different reaction out of them.

Glad to see my idea was appreciated, and i think it should be done.
Maybe you could even work in the building, if you built a garage for example, people would actually bring their cars to you, and you could fix them.

Online play would be awesome like this, because where as one person could have built a liqueur store someone else could have built an apartment block.
I think a family option should be introduced, say if you hook up with a girl, you can get married and have kids. Or is that too much like the Sims?

I believe the biggest thing that the new GTA need (other than the obvious of great graphics) are a great car customization as in-depth as NFS,GT, and all the other great racing games and a great multiplayer.
I think there should be an option at the beginning of the game where you choose from classic single player, local (offline) multiplayer, and online multiplayer.
The options for offline multiplayer would be co-op and free roam with split screen being optional.
To expand a little on the idea of a GTA: Sim City, in the online mode you would have co-op and what I am currently calling 'world domination' where players would build their own cities and upload them onto a map where every players' or group of players city is connected. Allowing players who have beaten the offline campaigns another city to roam in. The best part of this is when a player or group of players decides they like a city so much that they decide to take it over by killing the creator of the city and destroying all or a large majority of the creator’s possessions (cars, homes, helicopters, etc.)
I realize that the world domination would need a lot of fine tuning for it to run smoothly but I think it’s a great idea (probably because I came up with it)
Really would like to hear everyone's opinions on world domination and the other things I suggested but mainly the world domination.

Sort of like gang wars and the winning gang takes control of that city. Maybe you could also choose to have ally gangs, who can roam you city without being killed and help you kill other gangs.

I was just giving an example of what I don't want it to be. Money wouldn't be a problem.
Saying that though, at the beginning of SA, all you earn is respect and it isn't until you move to San Fiero that you start making some proper money. Whether they use the same techinque again will be seen soon.

Really for what? Nope, they didn't. :P
Sony had a contract with Rockstar, but that contract is over as it seems.
Microsoft said it would have exclusive content, but that is not yet confirmed by Rockstar. As far as Rockstar told us: GTAIV will be released on October 16th 2007 in America. And it will be released on both the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360 on the same day.
EDIT: Whops, I meant October 16th...sorry.

Apparently Microsoft has signed a deal for 'excusive' content, I've never ever heard of any 5 year deal though. Its interesting if its true, does that mean they expect GTA4 to have a 5 year shelf life?
Sony claim at least to have no inside knowledge of GTA4 which I find suprising if true. There is an interview in this months Edge magazine with the the head of Sony gaming and he says he knew nothing of MS exclusivity deal and nothing generally about GTA4. He also played down the fact that they (Sony) had lost it as an exclusive PS3 game. Then again he would, its a huge blow to Sony and a major coup for MS.

IN EVERY GAME, the cities have been floating islands. It would be cool to hav the ocean expand and when online, u can viset other peoples cities. You can either viset, OR start a gangwar once there.

Well but it got in-game anyways as far as I know, so why wouldn't the other thing get in-game as well?

One thing I want in GTA 4 is more variety in the fighting classes. Boxing, Martial Arts and Kickboxing are definately not enough. Oh, and a little extra in the Martial Arts class could be mastering the Nun-Chucks. :lol:

I belive they have "exclusive content" as others already said, and something extra on Xbox Live. Microsoft also paid millions of dollars to announce that they were having GTA4 on Xbox. It is so silly. :lol:

Especially after the school hostage taking thing in russia a few years ago.
It would be good if you could interact with your neighbourhood. If there is a drug problem the neighbourhood goes to *expletive deleted* but if you kill all the dealers then it becomes a nice play to live. I really want to see buildings being built, like new houses, new buisnesses. And also the ability to make your buildings better. Maybe start out with a really basic house, and you can invest in it, and then sell it, and find a new place to live maybe one with a pool. You know, make it feel like you are actually in the game.

Nope, we don't know that yet. However I think it is more likely we are going to see a maffia game again. I preferred the Maffia style anyway, but the only thing people didn't really like were the gangster things...that what I heard sometimes on these forums and from my friends.

I dunno but just a sugestion like if your character had a dual personality like when he went out he was a gangster or in the mafia and when he came home he had to hide things from his family. Bringing the family into the game would be cool to like in sa cj had girlfriends. maybe in this one he'll be married and if a deal goes bad they might get back at him from his family. it would be nice to see real cars in the game to and brands like dodge,gmc,ford and so on. If yoiu could go to space...... :idea: on second thought no

No they had one gangsta game they either go back to that or try something new. GTA has always been a mafia game and I personally preferred the gangsta of San Andreas and so did most of my friends. I totally agree. Now what they did with LCS was stupid, they made a PSP version of GTA: LC, and then they ported it onto PS2...WHY? Thats adding more timber to the 'PS2/PSP have only ported games' fire...
I think LCS might have been a bit of a special case. I'm about half way through LCS at the moment and I must say its ace. GTA3 was really a big experiment in some ways and R* learned a lot with Vice City and San Andreas. LCS is bit like a cross between the two and seeing as LC was such a brilliantly designed city, it thoroughly deserved a make over. GTA3 was pretty backward when compared to the other parts of the trilogy.
If they release Vice City Stories as a PS2 game then I think that would be genuine fuel for the 'PSP has only ported games' fire.

I think GTA:LCS is just a game released to recoup the losses that Rockstar incurred after the disastrous Hot Coffee fiasco severely affected their share prices.
'Let's release a quick and easy port of a PSP game to the PS2, minus the features that made the original any good, just to appease the shareholders'.
Sounds feasible to me.

There was this video that was leaked about Grand Theft Auto IV. It was fake though, but it had some nice animation techniques. It looked like it was set in the future. Nothing changed about the enviroment, still 4-wheeled cars and planes ect. But the government was your enemy (No, not the police). Just some government men who wanted you dead. Maybe it was a crooked NSA official. Like in "The Forgotten". Or maybe this post is false and is just here to elevate your imagination even more. ROCKSTAR ONLY KNOWS! I WANT SOME INFO LEAKED FROM ROCKSTAR! ARGH!!!

Well to be fair it would only be the publishing company (Take Two) who would have shareholders to appease. As far as I'm aware R* aren't owned outright by Take Two and R* aren't publicly owned.
But anyway who's complaining? LSC is way better than GTA3 and its certainy filled a big GTA gap between San Andreas and GTA4, as will Vice City Stories. So what if its a quick and easy port. I don't know about you but I would much rather they focussed their attention on making GTA4 truly amazing rather than fannying around making an all new GTA just for the PSP.
Also R* are a business at the end of the day and GTA4 is undoubtably costing a shed load of money to produce. Even though GTA is one of the most popular gaming franchises in history the actual profit margins for R* are probably tighter than most people think. you've got to cream off the profits that go to Take Two, the royalties that go to Sony and Microsoft and then you've got the production costs which won't be insignificant. So obviously they want quick and (reletively) easy money like Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories.

The environment should be completely destructible, and should be reparable over time. Your online player should also be completely customizable, allowing you to choose anything from age to ethnicity to gender. Bluetooth mic compatibility would also be a nice feature to include.

I like that idea i was trying to get something like that with my 'world domination' idea. If i had to choose i would go with gangster style over mafia style, but i think they should let you choose your desired storyline. Maybe even let you be a cop this time, if you want to be one.

Yeah that would be awesome, but is that really possible? I mean, I don't know if this age of gaming is at that point.
It would be cool if you had to get a job rather than do missions to support yourself financially, but then again, that takes away from the true meaning of the game.

I don't know about you guys but, personally I'm about ready to get away from America for awhile. Like maybe 2 GTA games should be set in different parts of the world. Like China or Japan well maybe not like that. But they should put other parts of the world in the next GTA.

yeh i would like this idea... maybe a global gta where the cities are fairly realistic (say a majority of holden commodores in australia.... heaps of mercs/bmws in an european city.... different police vehicles/agencies)
amd even if the xbox version used mutliple discs we could really fit a lot on a blueray

Well maybe instead of it being set in a different location. They should atleast let it be like Islands or something. What I mean by that is say you have the Map of GTA SA and, then later on you could go to like Japan do the rest of the game there or something.

9. Being able to lock your car door. (But if you hit or mess up the door the cops could get in and get you busted)

No, I don't want children in these kind of games. That is just too sick. And if they only tried to do it, the game wouldn't even be released that year. All the parents and good old Jackie would be against it. And for this matter I would too.

I agree. I think the cheat codes make the game more fun. But there are the intense gamers who want to cast all cheaters into hell becuz they don't think you should cheat.
I like to try beating the game without using cheats first, then I use cheats to have some serious fun!!!

I like all of Ricky's ideas except for the family idea ,what would you do with a family in a game like GTA. I don't see any thing that a player could accomplish with having a family. the only good thing i can see with having a family is if they get killed of somewhere in the story and you go on a rampage like in Punisher.

How about a GTA based on the French Connection (which smuggled heroin from Turkey to France and finally to the U.S., up until the '70s)? That would give you three countries to operate in, right there. Or what about the Columbian Cartels?
If it's based in the U.S. again, how about a focus on the Westies, Irish Mob, Jewish Mafia, Hells Angels, and/or Russian Mafia -- instead of the Italian Mafia or L.A. gangs?
Set it in Lapland R*, then we can fly on reindeers. :roll:

I just want more realistic car damage. Like i remember playing, trying to drive realistically. I pull out of the garage then turn out the driveway, but nick the corner...AND THE WHOLE DOOR FALLS OFF! And i was being careful cause i really liked that car!
And a thing like a Bank to keep your money and possibly rob would be nice.
Maybe just a little more realistic would be great. If not i d be fine but it would be awesome...for me atleast.

I want the option to have one huge mission somewhere in the game, and to have it like it would be in real life. I am a big fan of the movies, and especially about Con-Artists (such as Oceans Eleven, Confidence e.t.c). All you would be told is something along the lines of:
"You have to kill Tony. He knows too much, and he's going to talk. He works in the bank on the Eastside, he will be there on his own from 7pm Tuesday". While your at it rob the f***** place".
You would have to get together a crew, go round the city talking to people you have met in earlier missions, and find people you think would be good for the job like an arms expert, and inside man, a getaway driver and so on. And then you would have to plan exactly what each of the guys would have to do, including your own character. You would have to plan it in every detail such as the car (or cars) you would use (Need speed for getaway, but also need space for the money). What weapons you would carry and how you would kill him, if you leave the body or take it to dump it somewhere else, where you would meet up after, everything you can think of. The mission through out the game that would lead up to this mission would teach you everything you need to know in small parts, so one mission would be planning a getaway, one would be a run and gun, another would be a stealth kill e.t.c allowing you to plan the last mission exactly how you want it to go.
I liked the idea of the gangs and the gang wars, but I hated the the territories from the old game, they were really annoying. Everytime you were in one corner of the map, the opposite corner would start getting attacked. Maybe a variation of this could make it to GTA4.
I would also like to keep the customization, but make it so you could totally design your own character and make each one unique before the game starts, then have the opportunity to change clothes throughout. I liked where they were going with the cars too, but Maybe you could actually have a garage where you could have a car of your choice stored and it was legit. So you start out with a car, mod it up, swap it at a garage or part exchange it for a better one, and if you blew it up, you could get it back but you would have to pay out.
I love the free roam idea. but not every building should be enterable. This has been a common joke with RPG's where your character can just walk into any building and take what they want, it is not realistic, plus there isn't even enough space to do it on a blu-ray disk with a game the size of GTA SA, and development time and costs would go through the roof. I want to see more variation and more access, but not total roam, it's just not feasible.

I agree with this, I don't think it would work anywhere else. If it were in London, it would be too much like the getaway. the GTA game is based around American culture through the ages and the city style. Somewhere like Japan is too enclosed to play a free roam game in, and somewhere with huge, wide open spaces would get to boring because you would spend ages running through empty wasteland, fileds or deserts.

The cheat defiantly need to stay, they are so much fun once the game is complete. I think the majority of GTA fans go back and play on it more with the cheats than they actually spent time completing the game, it is part of the GTA institution.
I liked the side businesses too, as a source of income. It has worked well in the past, where you start out with nothing and slowly work your way up to the king of the city with a huge apartment. I likes this format and don't think it needs changing, it allows you to judge your progression by what you have aquired and by how much respect you have. I would be kind of cool to have a small gang (Maybe 2 or 3 people) which you start out with and progress with, they all stick with you and act kinda like body guards, and they help you on some missions, others you go solo. I might be fun to have the ability to use other people for different missions, like Maybe you control a femme fatal to draw information out of someone, or use an inside man to steal from your rival.
The hidden packages were a nice idea and allowed you to explorer every nook and cranny of the city, but with the game expanding in every incarnation, it takes too long to find every package without a guide. Maybe each package could contain a clue as to the whereabouts of the next page, and they appear one by one so you don't go out of order.
That is my vision of GTA4. Thats what I would perceive as the perfect upgrade to the GTA series, with stunning graphics, physics, A.I and some stunning looking girls of course!
On a final not I would like to point out I hated the missions where you had to drive a car without damaging it. HATED them. with a passion. get rid. please. for me? :(

I think having a family would be cool. Just no kids!!! But having a wife/girlfriend or a brother/sister would be cool.
That would leave tons and tons of mission opportunities, like your wife gets kidnapped, or held hostage and then you have to find or save him/her. Or if she/he got murdered, you would have to hunt down the killer!!! I thought that would be cool.

There are some things I could agree with you on like different cops for each city
Also I like the better Haircut and, Clothes idea because in SA the clothes half the time looked gay and, the haircuts were lame sometimes.
having a Job would be cool like the Valet Missions.

Heres a little list of the things that would have to be fixed in offline multiplayer:
1: both players can use their own vehicle.

Maybe... I would prefer times of the year. (winter with snow, autum with trees dropping their leafs...)
One think I would add to your list, (5.) would be a working MAP. I had no idea where my friend and I were going, because the map was completely blank!!!!

It is a fake but without question those are the sort of graphics we can expect, certinaly in the future once next gen potential has been fully harnessed. I've been playing Liberty City Stories a lot recently and if you look at the difference between that game and San Andreas, the difference is huge and they are both on the same console. If you look at what others are doing with next gen enviroments and the remember R* have always been way above the rest in terms of scale and pushing whats possible, I'm sure things won't be any different this time around.
As to the US only setting for GTA. I must say up to a point I agree however I would have to underline the fact that its only GTA as we know it that wouldn't really fit outside the US. As has been said loads of times before GTA4 is going to be VERY different to the past GTA's. Its only hard to imagine a European GTA if you think it HAS to be a continuation of Liberty City/Vice City/San Andreas and R* have said all of that is over.

Not necessarily. I've seen graphics from games like Unreal Tournament 2007 and was surprised when I looked back from the first title on the Dreamcast. A vast improvement between consoles. But you know that once the game is out, you're going to have that obnoxious lady from the white house jumping on the 'Anti-Violent Games' bandwagon with nothing better to do but prohibit violent games. A lot of people think that Columbine was caused by violent video games like Doom and Mortal Kombat but, no, it was society (especially the way kids treat each other in school). Dylan and Eric were called killers and so were the video games. Rockstar at least, better not do anything to piss the government off. I'm not saying that I hate Rockstar. It's just that if Rockstar is going to make another Grand Theft Auto title, they might as well watch their backs and expect some of the government officials to strike back. It may be a successful franchise, but you're going to get more negative feedback than you will with the good reviews.
I just hope rockstar can survive hot coffee and make another GTA. They recently had to close down two of their offices/buildings/ whatever and alot of people quit/or were fired.

It's not really the news media (although they do suck). It's special interest groups and opportunistic politicians. "Family" organizations (especially those with a certain religious leaning) can motivate their members and get more members by jumping on entertainment media and blaming them for all of the world's problems. Some opportunistic politicians are willing to cater to these groups, in hopes that they and their associates will put them and/or keep them in office. The overwhelming majority of these opportunistic politicians could care less about violent video games, gangsta rap, heavy metal, rated R movies, rock & roll, comic books, porn, or anything else they've tried to censor. It's just a scam to support their political career.
But of course, all of those media are protected by the First Amendment, and the politicians know that, even if the "family" organizations don't. But the organizations know that they can cause monetary damage to the producers of the media with government regulations and lawsuits -- so they hope to make it unprofitable to produce the media that they attack. Unfortunately, it works all too often.
I don't think that Rockstar has anything to worry about. As long as they don't dop anything to give a neoconservative USSC leverage to put the smack down on them by allowing severe government regulations, they should be able to make a good profit (assuming the game is good). But what needs to happen is that lower federal courts need to throw out these "my child committed a crime or killed himself because he played a video game" lawsuits, in summary judgment. The USSC has already spoken on the issue, and the law is clear. Such lawsuits are not claims that the courts can provide relief for.

back to an earlier message, I personally think Japan would be a good place for GTA. I mean, I have never been there, but it is beautiful, and has awesome colors. and for people who say that the gam should remain american, I thought the plot could be like "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo DRift".
I personally hated the movie, but instead, if any1 has seen it, ur guy arrives, and is sent into a world of crime.
there already are Yakuza connections in the games, and having it in tokyo might not feel so strange.

when driving around speeding passed a police car/bike they should chase you like in gta 1 for ps1.

I kind of hope GTA 4's setting will be in 2003 and up. BUT I don't want it to be in a country besides the USA. London sounds cool, but GTA was and always should be in the USA. I don't want Rock Star to make up a city either, so a new country would be fine. I would like it if they do New York. But in NO relation to GTA Liberty City Stories and GTA 3!!! Maybe they could put the Niagara Falls and New York City in it. Its going to be hard for Rock Star to pick a city, state, or whatever, because, they did Miami, Florida in Vice City, and they did New York in GTA 3 and Liberty City Stories, and Las Vegas, Hollywood, and San Diego(???) in San Andreas. My idea's
(1) taxi/bus driver's to take us places instead of us driving the car for a change.
(2) quicker loading for changing clothes in the dressing rooms
(3) customize our character,cars,tatoo's,cribs
(4) more access to bulidings,shops etc.
(5) call for back up if your in trouble with other gangs.
(6) how about hanging around with a mate instead of being on you own all the time like go out clubbing, cruzing around, play sports, strip clubs, rob stores/houses to together
(7) have a mother and father, brothers,sisters,cousins to vist around the city/towns and streets.
(8. break into a car then hotwire it. (not just open door the drive away like nothing happened with the alarms going off. like in the last gta games)

I basically want the game left more open so you decide how to do the missions. Before you were told what to do, every single step of the way. I want it left to the player to figure out.
Your ideas all great but number 8. That will just get tedious.
Have you played Mafia? The picklocking system in that was great (except they need to add more innovation, maybe twiddle the right analog stick like in Splinter Cell to correspond the position of the picklock, breaking through and opening the door).
I dunno, hotwiring seems a pretty cool idea.
In the last games you could get into any car...seems like the people have low insurance...that should change.

Let say a cop is chasing, than you stop to jack a park car. Than while you try to hotwire it the cops will come and bust you. It will not work in GTA4 :(

Yeah I loved the Godfather's fighting system. Do you know how many times I've choked a guy? Millions.....I could never get that flower lady to give up her business though. They should take a lot of elements from that game. I'm not saying copying it but making the things they did better. Like taking over businesses and actually bribing police instead of running over stars. Although that would be inconvenient if you're just trying to get your wanted level down.

The Godfather's hand-to-hand combat engine was great. The executions were the best part. I hope they can incorporate some of that into Grand Theft Auto 4.

My favorite was the all yellow suit because you got the most respect wearing that. Or the tuxedo but that was too dressy for me.
I also liked wearing the bandana across the mouth and one on the head backwards showing the knot. No shirt tatted up with the addidas warm up pants and hi-top sneaks. I looked dangerous.
But anyways, if they could elaborated on what they did with SA that would be nice. Having even more of a selection would be cool. (even though there was tons of combinations you could come up with).

Yeah i think you should be able to pick your primary colors. I also think you should have the option to be an undercover agent or a informant. I want the game to be more open ended so you can do whatever you want. I also like someone idea of being able to chill with your boys in the game. It would be even better if you could do this online or in split screen with a real person. I also like all of loudninja's suggestions. But i think the biggest things are improving multiplayer and creating seasons.
I'm sure the multiplayer feature will be done really well, I'm interested to see how much of the game relies on it though.
When thinking up features you want GTA4 to have you've got to be realistic and really think carefully about what things actually add to the whole GTA experience. Loads of people have mentioned they want the game to feature a change in the seasons but why? I don't really see the appeal of snow, your car or motor bike would just go nowhere slowly. Ice might be more fun but these things would only work as cheats. You couldn't really be expected to do a difficult mission involving driving if your car is going in circles, its annoying enough when it rains in GTA. It would take a fantastic amount of computing power (and programming man power for that matter) to have the eviroment change with the seasons but what would it really add? I'd prefer the resources where used elsewhere.
The one thing I'm really interested to see done, other than big graphic improvements, is the GTA AI. Maybe some of you didn't notice but R*North were recruiting AI specialists a couple of years ago. It would be really amazing if the cops in GTA actually used strategy to capture you depending on how you were playing the game instead of just blindly crashing into you or throwinig themselves off cliffs trying to get to you like in San Andreas (its quite entertaining but its not very 'clever' of them).
I'd love to have missions where you actually felt like the computer was actually challenging you. GTA4 has to move away from the structured missions where beating the game is more about familiarity with where certain elements are rather than skill and strategy. San Andreas was better in this respect than VC and LCS but there was still an awful lot of failing missions the first time only to beat the computer next time simply because you now knew where a gun man was positioned etc etc. And I'd prefer it if being killed was something you really wanted to avoid instead of 'I'm dead now but i'll just reload and start the mission again' Repeat until you've won the game. Its just to linear, and easy for that matter.
I think a cool idea would be to expand on the coop mode found in GTA SA, only over the net as the PS3 and 360 are connected from the get go.
It would play the same as the SP GTA games, and you could play offline, or you can choose to play online, and when you drive around the city not on any mission, other people who were connected tot he server would also be driving around.
you could hop on a server where a friend is playing and you drive to the mission marker and wait for him, when he gets there as well you can both enter the mission and play it coop style.
Only when you play a mission you wouldnt be on the server with all the other players, just the people who are playing the mission,( and and your friend), to prevent smacktards from making you fail missions ect.

This is exactly what i want in the game more options. So people can do whatever they want and after they beat the game the first way they choose they can beat the game another way next time. Being able to choose your storyline would increase GTA's already high replay ability.

In this new game I hope we are able to make our own soundtrack. Because in SA for me I didn't like some of the tracks it had or some could have been better. Creating Seasons wouldn't be a bad idea either only thing is they need a month system. Oh yeah and, they need to make police alot smarter like if you get into a fight with a ped but, you didn't start it the police need to arrest them.

Well looks like London is a strong contender. Although they would be contradicting themselves saying they wouldn't go back into the previous cities. Maybe they though GTA 2 wasn't going back since it was 2d, but whatever. Doesn't matter where the game takes place IMO.
XBox 360 will get exlusive online content while the Ps3's version will take full advantage of the console's capabilities. Which one would you rather have?
Even though I would miss the extra content, I know I would like to have a better looking and playing game. I don't play online games anyway. Although GTA would be an exception only if it was a MMORPG.

An MMORPG style game for Grand Theft Auto is already out, I think. At least for the PC.
I think MTA has servers that have MMORPG style scripts for it, i know the VCES sever does, you can buy and sell properties etc. I hope the online for GTAIV is absolutely perfect, because that is what will revitalise the series again. A Polished engine, effective fun online, and some more fun gameplay and physics. I will get this game regardless (360), but i hope they're going all out with online, because i believe that could make it more popular than Halo 3 (If the servers host to PS3 and 360 players? possible)

it would be good to climb ladders exspecaily when your in the water and sit down if need a rest.
important one is to use the petrol/gas station for the car when running low.

Well I know what you mean Loudninja. I also want the buildings to be destoryed if you hit them with like a Tank or crash with a plane.(not like 9/11 or something just so some of you don't get ideas)
Oh and, if you have 4 stars and, try to go to the safe house let Swat be able to break in your house. That makes it more realistic.
Now about the Hurricanes they should put those in there on certain days.
Maybe even Tornados lol.

Whoa guys just calm down a bit. I mean after 150 pages it does get a bit dull y' know (how I hate Rai in KH2). Well as far as I know there is nothing more that I can add to the thread. Except that they (Rockstar) make GTAIV as real as possible that's it.

Heres a list of what I would like to see in GTA 4:
1. Split Screen Multiplayer
2. Tons more cars, planes, choppers, bikes, boats/ships, etc...
3. Maybe a submarine, that would be awesome!!!
4. See HUMMERS on the road, like on PSP's GTA Liberty City Stories
5. More people!!!
6. More Safe Houses
7. KEEP the jetpack!!! I don't know what I would do without it!!!
8. Longer drives between the cities and towns.
9. Being able to lock your car door. (But if you hit or mess up the door the cops could get in and get you busted)
10. Have a Wife/Girlfriend, MAYBE pets
11. More variety of places to eat.
12. Being able to eat in your OWN kitchen in your safe house!!!
13. Islands!!! Islands way out at sea, to where you have to fly or ride a boat to get there at a decent time.
14. Sharks, so you have something to worry about at sea.
15. Seasons would be nice (winter, fall, summer, spring, etc...)!!!
16. Tons more guns!!!
17. Revisit a city from one of the older GTA games maybe!!!
18. Semis with trailers on the road.
19. Car dealer ships and shops, so you have something to spend your money on.
20. MPH would be cool. Maybe cops would come after you if you went over the speed limit!!!
21. Bigger garages.
22. Having the option to play online.
23. More realistic crashs. Like if you hit your front tire real hard against something it would break off.
24. Banks!!! Banks would be cool to rob.
25. Drink alot beer to where it makes you drunk, to where everything is blurry and hard to see.
26. No Kids!!!!
27. Customizable Safe Houses.
28. Be able to do tricks during sky diving
29. ALL pools have water in them
30. Hitman trying to kill you randomly, so you never know when they are coming. Maybe they would cut your breaks or try to shoot you.
31. Actually get killed if you get caught in the rodders of a helicopter.
32. Be able to ride in planes, helicopters, taxis, and buses. (Like with the trains)
33. Better clothing.
34. Rampages or telephone both missions!
35. More sports.
36. See Semis with trailers!
37. When you get busted, you'll actually be handcuffed and/or put in the police car.
38. Army uses the Hunter.
39. Be able to put your landing gear up on the helicopters.
40. See people park their car in the garage.
41. More Haircuts.
42. Shoot your guns when you're in the air in your parachute.
43. Bigger hovercrafts/Vortexs.
44. Fire trucks with latters (that can move around)!
45. Cars and people actually get dirty.
46. Car washes.
47. Climb trees, and possibly snipe.
48. More stealth moves. Like peak around a corner, etc.
49. More radio stations.
50. See planes/ helicopters land at air ports.
51. Let some pedestrians swim.
52. Don't make it so easy to flip your car back over!
53. Show a health for the car.
54. Add the 7-47 to the plane collection.
55. Get to close to a running jet engine, you'll get sucked in.
56. Windows shatter if you fly a jet real fast by a building or car.
57. When you shoot someone in the head with a sniper, their heads don't blow off. All though its pretty funny.
58. More radio stations.
59. If there is trolleys, be able to steal or ride on them. same with subways.
60. Be able to sell your safe houses, and/or buy new ones.
61. Cruise ships, and MUCH bigger yacht or house boats.
62. Maybe even be able to use a house boat or yacht as a safe house!! That would be awesome! Mobile safe houses!
63. Pedestrians don't get so freaked out about helicopters.
64. Customize your gangs.
65. Instead of playing in the stadiums, be able to be in the audience!
66. When you kill a cop or someone, the police won't be there in five seconds.
67. More silenced weapons.
68. Be able to walk in all hospitals and all police stations.
69. Always a basketball at basketball courts!
70. Be able to make your car bullet proof.

78. Make clothing stores bigger.

86. See people's houses on fire occasionally. Then fire trucks trying to put the fire out.
87. Telephone poles fall down when hit. Maybe see some building's power go out.
88. Maybe have a detailed map like in the spiderman-2 game.
89. Make trains longer.
90. See people drive cars that have been customized.
UPDATE
91. Have the option to silence your weapons.
92. When you drive your car in the river/lake/ocean/etc, make the person have to bust the window out to get out of the car (once underwater).
93. More than one person can board boats/ships.
94. Be able to fish off fishing boats.
95. Have tidal waves, or rouge waves in the ocean.
96. Make the storms more nasty at sea.
97. Bring row boats in to the boats and ships collection.
98. See CJ or other main characters from the other GTA games. Maybe see them in missions or something.
99. Bigger Propellers on ships. Maybe if you get ran over by a boat, you would loose health from the propellers.
100. Bring jet skis and stand up skis to the boat/ship collection.
101. Have the military use the Cargo Bob, to transport soldiers.
102. Use the windshield wipers when it rains.
103. Use the cell phone for more purposes than, just people calling you! Maybe call for back up, or call your girlfriend/wife like what Loudninja and others said!
104. Add more easter eggs. (Thanks Loudninja)
105. Add the cockpit view, like in NASCAR.
107. Maybe if you fly high enough you will enter space real briefly.
108. Have planes require more take off and landing space.
109. Add something like a UPS truck to the cars collection.
110. See Mail Men/Women.

i think your list is great. My one thing is there needs to be more that just split screen multiplayer where the only thing you can do is free roam.
BE ABLE TO CREATE YOUR OWN PLAYER AND BE ABLE TO CREATE AND CUSTOMIZE SECOND PLAYER.

I believe the biggest thing that the new GTA need (other than the obvious of great graphics) are a great car customization as in-depth as NFS,GT, and all the other great racing games and a great multiplayer.
I think there should be an option at the beginning of the game where you choose from classic single player, local (offline) multiplayer, and online multiplayer.
The options for offline multiplayer would be co-op and free roam with split screen being optional.
To expand a little on the idea of a GTA: Sim City, in the online mode you would have co-op and what I am currently calling 'world domination' where players would build their own cities and upload them onto a map where every players' or group of players city is connected. Allowing players who have beaten the offline campaigns another city to roam in. The best part of this is when a player or group of players decides they like a city so much that they decide to take it over by killing the creator of the city and destroying all or a large majority of the creator’s possessions (cars, homes, helicopters, etc.)
I realize that the world domination would need a lot of fine tuning for it to run smoothly but I think it’s a great idea (probably because I came up with it)
Really would like to hear everyone's opinions on world domination and the other things I suggested but mainly the world domination.
I just thought i'd bring back my world domination idea to see what people thought.

Like I said on my list would be the ultimate thing GTA needs in the game is Sit down. What Driver 2 had that sometimes every once and, awhile the character does need to rest.
Okay being for real I really don't know much more that can be added to GTA all the lists sound good but, after all the things we said are put in GTA I'm afraid will be over with.

i don't mind the game being more realistic but i dont want to have to rest my character ,put gas in my car, pay taxes, or anything that we have to do in real life that sucks, is stupid, or is a waste of time in a video game. I am making a big deal about this because if we start down this road we might end up having to brush our player's teeth and other retarded things.

I would not mind that. A health bar for the car would be a good idea in GTA and my idea is having the bar pop up when you get in the car and when you get out, the bar disappears.

I didn't really like it when you drove cars.
after playing driver 3 or parallel lines(even though these two driver games are very different). I really didn' like GTA's driving. not realistic at all and when you hit a post you spin like 2 time around. and it is really hard to use hand break in some cars.
usually I have a lot of fun with handbreak.
I think they should improve the driving.
Yeah sometimes the driving was a little random, but I've always enjoyed that - I don't want to think about changing gears or avoiding posts, I thinks it much more fun escaping from the police like a maniac - driving into anything, on the wrong side of the road, etc, and the crazy results when you hit something like a lamp post or the motorway divide make the game fun!
And the same goes for a cars health bar - I wouldn't want that. You get used to judging the damage of the car, like the dents, then white smoke, then black smoke... and pushing the car as far as you can without actually knowing for sure when it will explode is also fun!

Anyway. Since Grand Theft Auto IV is coming out in October 17th, 2007, shouldn't we have had at least some small info from it by now?

I don't know if you where talking in your first paragraph about what I said earlyer but in driver you don't change the gears. But yea changing gear would be horrible.
But what I loved in Driver 3 espicially is when you had big road you didn't even have to break and you car start drifting and it looks really cool. If only they would have the sae driving as driver 3 it would be awsome.
one more thing I like in driver is that your car dosn't allways blow up. somtimes it the engin stops which is more relistic and fun.
what else would be cool to add is bulet hole when you shoot on a car which is on driver. makes it a lot more realistic and nice to see.
also when you crash it would be cool if you could feel the damage on your driving. like when you hit a side the weel is bent a little so you feel it in te driving. But that is allways a big risk because if you make it too realistic it will mess up the arcade/unrealistic type of gameplay.
