THIS has got to be in my top 3 in games I have to own for the ps3.

Im hoping for a game thats not too linear. A world where you can join any gangs at anytime, start any rivalries, manipulate storylines, do anything you want within the world of GTA.

One thing i hope Rockstar don't do with GTA4, is well there going to have something like gang territory or businesses (like in VCS). The thing i hope they do is have rival gangs continously attack your interests, the bikers attacking my businesses in VCS was absolutely rudiculous, i couldn't go 2 minutes between missions without one of them being attacked. When i defended one, straight afterwards another would be attacked. It was so frustraiting in the end i just ditched the businesses and just focused on the missions. Roctstar really need to reduce the frequency of attacks on whatever your interest are in GTA4.

The fun part of GTA was being able to do whatever you want whenever you want, having to protect businesses every 2 seconds takes that away.

Just last week Miami anti-videogames crusader Jack Thompson has been complaining of attacks on his character by the company, and this week Rockstar has been stirring it up concerning their upcoming PlayStation 3 outing for the series.

A number of "leaked" screenshots for the next GTA game show what appear to be sex scenes in the game. For anyone who has been under a rock for the last three months, hidden sex mini-games are what set off the entire Hot Coffeegate scandal which saw everyone from nutjobs to Hillary Clinton weighing in on the anti-videogames racket.

Now Rockstar is stirring it up via said leaked images which may see us getting sex as standard with the next GTA game.

The red car from the fake is very similar to a Volkswagen Gol, and GTA games have always used their original cars, so that blows it away :)

I have to admit my confidence has been shaken in the GTA franchise since Vice City Stories on the psp (truly an excellent example how even GTA can be done really badly). Yeah I know R* North had nothing to do with VCS but still you can't help wonder and worry ...

But after the vice city and san andreas sequels i can see rockstar is just surviving on their name and getting by with slight upgrades to the game play and a new world. Kind of reminds me of another gaming giant which i no longer support by choice...ehem EA SPORTS. I really hope they upgrade the aming system, allow more customizaiton of cars. The driving physics were always ahead of their time, but once you got out of the cars the gameplay was pretty weak. Ragdoll, better animations, and better player control would solve it all though

i cant wait for gta 4 im like adamba4e ive had every gta (ther very first one) and have completed em all its like an addiction but all i really want in the next gta is 4 things

1. RAGDOLL PHYSICS (i mean how can you keep hitting stiff peds or come of your bmx and float through the air on your back????

2. more interaction with your enviroment (we saw it in early stages of SA spreadable fires well i mean like if you see a can on the floor you can pick it up chuck it kida thing)

3. better graphics (sa on the pc was some of the best graphics ive evere had the pleasure of seeing in a genre like gta but there tons of room for improvment)

4. More variety in missions (some how most of the missions in sa just kinda felt the same drive here kill those get that go back do it all over agian i know that gta is mostly made up of these mission and i dont mind but in next gen lets see some improvment)

and thats it really just a better game really but R* always deliver 8)

i like the first 2 gta. but even those were the same. drive here kill them, take over block then do it again nxt mission. thats hella boreing and i think rockstar has no innovataion. the game is boreing and u repet the same thing through out the rest of the game. u cant have more variety of missions bcuz there is nothing else they can do. and the graphics will be same as saints row. i dont hate the gta series its just to boreing.

How do you know it won't change, I can understand your assumption but you can't say definitely that there won't be new gameplay. I think the creators have noticed that it has become bland over the years, I mean cmon, I agree it is the same stuff dashed with some variety. But there is a story to it as well, and that is how they have kept it alive is with a good story. I agree with you that there needs to be more variety, and more freedom. :)

i was watching "terminator 3" a few hours ago, and there's this scene in the end where two helicopters get to crash into a tunnel, and the second one looks like the big heli from san andreas.

and then i thought, gta iv would need some improved damage model for heliciopters/jets (or actually.. it just needs one).
so that when you fly against a skyscraper full speed with a jet, you see a jet-crash that perhaps almost looks like a burnout-crash, but with a jet. or a helicopter, w/e.
imagine what happens if two helicopters crash into each other, the damage on both of them...

wouldn't that just ROCK???

Thats not going to happen for a while yet if past GTA releases are anything to go by. They certainly won't release a trailer until long, long into the promotion of the game and any screen shots until a good few months after the first official info about the game comes out.

Be careful what you say....Fight Night Round 3 looks a lot better on my ps3 than it does on my 360. Don't assume those kind of things. It will look good on both, but guess what, the ps3 will have better framerates. Look at Saint's Row on the 360. Good god, it makes the 360 strain so hard to keep up with anything. :)

ESRB is auditing every video game since mid-2004 for saucy content and they are threatening to punish companies for third party modifications with racy content.

Did america move itself a few thousand miles, plant a hammer and sickle on it's flag and change it's name to U.S.S.R or something ? Sorry not a dig at our american friends just the morons that are in power there. So going by what the ESRB are doing when can we expect the car manufacturer Ford to face punishment for the fact some it's cars were used in criminal acts :-D.

i think you're taking this wrong.. from what i've heard, the sex scenes in san andreas were already included in the original gaming code, and the "hot coffee" mod just unlockes them.
there was a whole investigation to find this out, as this was the decisive point why they wanted to ban it.

this means, if someone mods gta iv and adds some sex scenes, it won't be r*'s fault.

Good question. Here's the pre-release schedule for San Andreas info

First official info was released 21st March 2004. They confirmed the title and the fact that San Andreas was based on California and made up of 3 cities.

First screen shots were released, if I remember rightly, the week before E3 2004 with a few more appearing the week of the conference.

First trailer appeared, again if i remember rightly, at the beginning of August 2004

Second trailer, which was much better and revealed a lot more, appeared in September 2004.

Part of thinks that R* will keep us waiting longer this time, partly to do with them having more to loose revealing to much to early. Although another part of me thinks they will release info to coincide with the European launch of the PS3 and that the game itself is set in Europe and London in particular.

Is it going to be the same kind of deal where I can go around and shoot everyone and do whatever I want or will my freedom be taken away and I'll be forced to have a job and go to it and what not...

No new information has been released, so far. :(

I've just come back from spending Xmas in Hong Kong... and both my brother and I agree that HK would be such a perfect place for a GTA game to be based... there's so much cool stuff going on! It's a vast city, which is both very urban, as well as traditional buildings and buddhist temples. There's Victoria Harbour (with the laser show at night), there's the beaches, hotels, apartments... just visually in a game it would be stunning. Thats my input for now, I'm just gonna wait to see what R* comes up with (it'll be genius, I'm sure!)

honestly, i expect it to be alot better.. they have time till october, they have budget, they have the programming skills.. i expect them to create stunning graphics on ps3.

+1, but remember its also releasing on the 360 at the same time, which I think if only SLIGHTLY will hinder the game's development, if Sony jumped on Rockstar earlier, this game would be so much better, unless they release for multiple discs on the 360. :)

test drive looks awesome but if you do not want to buy it for PS3,Wii,orXbox360. it

Something that really bothers me is that you can collide against a wall at 180 Km/h, set your car on fire, walk out of it just like nothing happened, then hear it blow on the background. OK, it was fine for last-gen, but it's time to take things seriously.

Totally agree there, GTA has never been about out and out realism and long may that continue otherwise you may as well be playing any number of other games like the Getaway etc. Everything about GTA has always been a caricature of reality

And I sincerely hope GTAIV's graphics are nothing like the photorealism of Test Drive or any of the other graphics examples posted above. Do you really want photorealism when you're going on a rampage with a chainsaw? I think not.

back to GTA: IV....well, i do want it to be a bit more realistic, not getting parking tickets and stuff.....but, like haveing a whole bustling city, with city streets, and hoboes that actually sleep under papers and in boxes, being able to ride in the subway and seeing other people riding the subway, seeing people get pulled over by the cops, i mean, stuf fyou see in everyday life you see on there......that is what i want more realistic.....not really being killed with one gun shot wound, or your car blowing up when you drive it into another.....

err..where did i say Crackdown was like photorealism? Crackdown is nothing like photorealism nor is All Points Bulletin that was my point. GTAIV will be nothing like photorealism too, but yeah hopefully it will look loads better than either of those games.

I think you're probably right but there's a few screen grabs of APB going about the web, they look a lot better I think.

As far as the Getaway and the cartoony look of GTA is concerned i think everyone's got to remember the mapping of GTA is a lot more massive. Since you can fly in GTA every nook and corner of the graphics map has to be rendered in detail and that takes some man power as well as some graphics power.

In all seriousness if you had a photo realistic GTA would you really want to go around blowing cops to tiny pieces with hand grenades? The more real it becomes the much less fun it becomes and that's a balance GTA is always gonna have to work at.

1. getting tattoos
2. fast food places
3. getting high only on one mission though
4. tricking out ur cars
5. picking clothes

these are just some of the things but here is what this one needs

1. being able to customize ur tattoos like if u want ur name in old english on ur back, head, stomach, chest, nose, hand etc. then get it
2. piercings that would be cool being able to pierce ur tongue, ears, nose, eyebrow
3. being able to buy drugs if u wanted to and use them or sell them
4. actually show that ur having sex with a hooker but then it would be an ADULT rated game so nevermind
5. kids holding balloons and u can pop the balloons and kill the kids lol

lazlow is part of the cast again, so thats all i need....and let everyone have their opinions about what should be in it, selling and using drugs isnt that bad of an idea....more money, but if you got high then it can make you lose health and things like that...thats only if it is in a street gangsta setting in LA, then that would be something to do, but we dont know where the new setting will be right now. 4- and there's a too important thing is the capability to enter all buildings without exception that R* may make

Btw, forgot to mention that I've played Saints Row not long ago, and while it looked allright, it misses the magic from GTA:SA (not to mention lack of vehicles). I liked the 'simplistic' looks of GTA:SA and I'm kind of worried that the world (what is drawn) in GTA IV will be smaller compared to GTA:SA in order to make it look more 'real'. Better not leave out the Harrier guys - it's a trademark for GTA franchise.

Yeah I dunno....it will definitely be what we have experienced before and much more. Movement will most likely be the same, with some minor add ons.

When does Rockstar usually release information on their GTA games? Like how many months before they release the game itself? In my opinion. They are doing the same thing EA Sports did with NBA Live 07. Keeping it secret because they are behind schedule, and push the date once or twice. Hope it doesn't turn out as bad and canceled as NBA Live 07

R* are renound for not letting much detail out early, expect GTAIV news from April onward I would say (that prediction is going on how San Andreas was promoted and the time frame used)

GTAIV will have a huge and complex online element, no doubt about it I reckon. Sam Houser has stated that they are looking at the big MMORPG's for inspiration however he has also stated they won't be doing simple death match type stuff with the game. We'll just have to wait and see, I trust R*North to be original with what ever they do in the game.

Games like Saints row or Crackdown will only strip the gloss off it because free-roamers are becoming more common.
Still, I think the chances of leaking a pic or two any time soom are slim because a picture just wouldnt do the game justice and it might take hype away from it.

I fail to see how a console with an equally botched launch with horrible 12% failure rates, and continuing failure rates higher than normal, sub par hardware that needs to be upgraded (as seen with the newly soon to be released Zephyr) that the 360 is not what it was supposed to be. This is confimed by Zephyr, if the current 360 was the end all be all console, why does it need an upgrade, why does it need HDMI which MS managers said "1080P gaming is useless" They are hyprocritical and lack a larger broader organizational view IN MY OPINION. Have you seen the chip and boards on the 360, they are PLAGUED with transitors....the ps3 has more power, and better hardware, with a much better heatsink (not that big of a deal) but nonetheless, I think it is STUPID AND RETARDED

Was the website GTA-Sanandreas.com/forums? I went there and hung around prior to the release of SA. It's pretty vulgar over there, but a lot of the guys there were pretty cool.

BTW - Once Rockstar made an official website for GTA IV, I immediately added the site to 'my favorites.' Today, I saw that they made a minor update to the site. You can now join Rockstar's mailing list to receive official updates. The pre-order link is also active now.

Off the top of my head I reckon there will be a class action lawsuit from the ps3 fanboys because the game isn't on a quad layered blu-ray disc. To counteract that, the 360 fanboys will also do a class action lawsuit because the rumble wasn't supported and the ps3 has 0.0003% sharper graphics. :-D.

Jack Thompson will probably sue them on the grounds GTA led him to have a sex change operation and change his name to Ting Tong and hang around Ladyboy bars in Thailand.

I wish it were true, but it is MY OPINION that because its multi-plat, we ps3 boys will lose some quality so that it can all fit on one DVD. Pretty lame but I guess thats just whats gonna have to happen. I dunno.

Also with downloadable content the initial game doesn't need to be any bigger than 9GG anyway. That whole blue-ray verusus DVD-9 argument over the potential size (or lack of) of GTAIV is just such nonsense, yet it still prevails heatedly at pretty much every GTA forum you visit on the web.

I loved shadowrun for the SNES, and the genesis version was cool also never got into the books/cards or whatever but anyhow.. this is off topic but cross platform shooters arent a very good idea considering the mouse is alot more accurate and alot faster, so it would be pointless to play it from a console unless you wanna be fodder

I totally agree, there will definitely be a limit to how much they can realistically compress. Obviously for all the PS3 owners out there that isn't going to be a concern but it'll be interesting to see how things pan out for the 360. M$ have taken a big gamble with it to a certain extent because they are relying on downloadable content via Xbox live taking off, but I see their point of view that there is no real reason why it shouldn't take off, broadband speeds are getting incredibly fast these days and that is something that is only going to develop over the coming few years.

Dude you need to read post and make sure you understand them before quoting someone. I was talking about compressed data and RFOM is a totally
uncompressed game. What makes you think HD-DVD will be a dying format? Sony doesn't even support porn on Blu-ray just like Betamax didn't so HD-DVD has just as much a chance as Blu-ray has.

Well im pretty sure that Resistance takes up around 22 gigs, and Hideo Said that it is really filled up on MGS 4

That is not confirmed at all. What thats saying is that future R* games will use that engine. Remember whatever engine R*North are using for GTAIV (and it may or may not be Euphoria) it will have been implemented into the game years ago since GTAIV is entering into its final phase of production right now

Well a tiny morsel of official info has leaked out courtesy of a Take Two press release. Apparently the first downloadable part of GTAIV (whatever it me be) will be released in 'early 2008'.

March 1, 2007 - Rockstar's very own Grand Theft Auto IV webpage has been updated today with a sure-fire excitement generator -- a countdown clock for the debut of the company's first trailer. The timer will stop on Thursday, March 29.

The teaser's debut will mark the first time since May of 2006 that any new information about the highly-anticipated sequel makes it to the public eye. Up until now, we've just been hit with a barrage of fake screenshots, false box art, and random forum posts that claim, "My cousin works for Rockstar and this is what he told me!"

Unfortunately for sandbox fans, no other information about the forthcoming video was given (will it be in high definition? Will it include Xbox 360 and PS3 footage, etc?). We did, however, contact Rockstar representatives to see if they'd comment further.
"Nope," remarked the spokesperson we chatted with. "There's nothing else we can add to that."

Damn. It looks like we'll just have to wait until the 29th to find out what the big deal is just like everybody else.

I want the police chases to be more intense, like the way they are in Need for Speed: Carbon. The chases in Need for Speed: Carbon are really fun, sometimes lasting over ten minutes. I'd like to have to shake the cops rather then go to a Pay 'n' Spray.

I always want to see GTA VI as I hoped years ago ..

GTA VI is single suspense for anyone wish seeing real life as he does in his normal life
regarding going to work daily and seeing grades of ppl's ages from child to adult until old .
bside that you should see along a road many buildings constructed out there and in contrast many buildings destructed and many workers urge themselve to complete as soon as they can and some of them check and monitor these buildings ..

some of these expectations ppl demand to be reality is credibility as it is lifelike seeing as we should see strong collision in characters for example if one of them falled and another falled over him it should not be any interlacement in each another's organ
this issue mabe isn't proplem for some of you So you can deem it as just my point of view ^^ ..

and the most important feature which R* didn't care for it at all is the ability to set up large thug gangs and they are completely under your control as you can force them to go after you by car and can kill who don't yield to you

in regard with R*'s trailer , I think it's long time to wait for watchin it beside I don't want it to be disappointed

Definitely thrilled. I been spending my gaming time playing Need for Speed: Carbon as most games available for the PS3 don't interest me. With such amazing graphics, I can't wait to play Grand Theft Auto IV. Only 26 days, 23 hours, 58 minutes, and 46 seconds.

Yup. I don't like it. I goddamn hate microsoft, they did the same with Halo (as result it feels rushed). Exclusive Xbox360 downloadable content. What's up with that. Companies should leave artists and developers alone in their dicisions, and let them do what they do.

I'm guessing that the trailer will be at least, a minute to two minutes long. They will refer to the game, for now, as IV. It will also, probably, not even show much of the game's story, but focus more on the gameplay and we will probably only get a couple screens and when that happens, people are gonna freak.

Your'e actually 2 days behind. PS Maniac first reported it.

I was thinking about this and wondering... what if SONY's plan was to go ahead and not pay for exclusivity but rather pay so that R* takes advantage of the PS3. That is... use each system to their fullest. Just think about it if the 360 had a good version of it then the PS3 has this incredible mind blowing gameplay and visuals, I'm sure that would sway fans and such.

I wish the trailer more likely looks like the coke ad which was aired for the Super Bowl...more life like stuff and more of everything...2 Days 2 Vegas should be their minimum target...And as they already showed how it is going to look guys there at Rockstar must have already made their calculations on how people are going to compare the both. Lest wait 29th is not far away and to keep us busy till then we have big things coming up from GDC tomorrow.

GTA III was the best one in my opinion. I would try Vice City and GTA III if you haven't yet. It would be a nice way to kill time waiting for GTA IV.

Firstly a note to my fellow UK gamers, if you are half as sad as me you will have already worked out that the GTA 4 trailer gets released on Thursday 29th March at 11:00pm. This didn't sit right with me, I mean why release a trailer at such an odd time. Then it hit me, the clocks in the UK go forward one hour on the 25th March. So that means the trailer will actually be on the site at Midnight on the 29th, which made much more sense :-D

Now there seems to be a bit of negativity about the fact it is appearing on the 360 at the same time (expected I guess since this is a PS3 forum). I think you guys are looking at it really the wrong way. Phil Harrison has already stated the PS3 user base is not out there at the moment to justify GTA 4 being an exclusive. In all probability it is thanks to the 360 that we are getting GTA 4 within the first year of the PS3's life. What could have happened is GTA 4 could have been put off till 2008 - 2009 and they would have filled the gap with a PS2 version of GTA San Andreas Stories.

I know you all have your shiny new PS3's (I have yet to commit to either the PS3 or the 360) and you want every game that comes out to utilise the machine totally, but be realistic. I mean just look at the first GTA 3 on the PS2 then compare it to GTA SA on the PS2. It will be the same for GTA 4, a few years from now we will be playing the new GTA and will look back at GTA 4 and think how basic it was.
