The biggest sporting event in the USA ia almost here!!!

In one corner we have the Indianapolis Colts- led by superstar Peyton Manning, possibly th e greatest QB to ever play the game fighting to finally get that last piece of hardware. The Colts last trip to the ship was in 1970.

And in the other corner we have the Chicago Bears- led by Brian Urlacher and a tenacious defense. The Bears return to the Super Bowl after a 21 year drought, the last time being in 1985 when the fielded arguably the best football team ever.

Offense vs Defense... which one really does win championships???
So who's it gonna be?

I've gotta go with the Colts on this one. I think the pressure will be too much on Rex Grossman, but Brian Urlacher (sp?) is going to give Payton and the running backs a real problem. I like Tony Dungee's approach where he says that if we can make it through the first half and not be down too much we can make adjustments for the second half, and that is exactly what he did to beat the Pats.

I'm going with the Colts and Manning/Harrison to have an amazing game. The pressure for him to reach the "big game" is gone that he can finally play.

Rex Grossman Knows what he has to do to win the superbowl Manage the game No turnovers RUN THE BALL and be good when you have to that exactly how Jim McMahon won it in 85 along with the best defense to ever play. and thats exactly how he won yesterday and thats exactly how you play chicago bears football although they dont have the best defense ever but none the less a great one

I also dont think that the colts will be ready for the physcality and the speed of the Bears D God knows that the saints werent. The whole week the "experts" were saying that the Saints O was too good for the Bears
But they hit em hard, early, and often and with the DBs too fast for the WO
Plus 4 turnovers (kickreturn very questionable) the NFL best offense never stood a chance

I would have to say the Bears because they have come off from an awful season last year and now they are in the Super Bowl this year. Go Bears. Dah Bearsh!

01-22-2007, 16:38
Man, this is a close call. The Colts offense really struggled against a strong Ravens defence last week, and it ain't gonna get any easier against the Bears.

If Rex stays mistake free and it stays a tight, close game then I can't seen the Bears losing. However, if Peyton can make a couple of big plays and take a decent lead early, I can't see the Bears coming from behind or winning a shootout.

Bears 21 - 17 Colts

I think it will be a close game but the Colts will come out on top (just like they did against NE!)

Peyton Manning will pick apart the bears Defense it will be close....

17-14 Adam V FG with 40 seconds or less left

My first instinct is to go with the Colts... big.

But then I remember how I picked Ohio State big... and how I picked USC over Texas big...

And I have decided to just shutup and watch the game ;)

Strongest team in a weak NFC conference verse the strongest team in a strong AFC conference....Ummmmmm slim chance for bears to win it. Once Indy goes into pass rush mode, it is all over....

BananaFish
01-22-2007, 19:33
I'm going with dah bears 'cause defense wins championships. Grossman could play the spoiler though and turn the game over to the colts but I feel that Lovie's gameplan calls for keeping Rex on a short leash and unleashing Jones into the colts soft underbelly. Of course, payton could prove me wrong but my guess is he'll be watching the final plays from the bench with a towl over his head.

All I'm hoping for is a Super Bowl that isn't a complete blowout. I'm so sick of leaving the TV area at a Super Bowl party around half time.

Who's playing the half time show this year?

Its really hard to pick whos gonna win but im going for Colts since they took down the mighty Pats. On one hand we think of Manning and his awesome career and we think its finally time for him to get the ring, but on the other hand you look at the bears and after so many years of never making it to the playoffs/superbowl its seems lke its time for the Bears to make history, who knows... All i know is that its gonna be an AWESOME GAME!!!11

I HATE ALL BEARS FANS AND THE CITY OF CHICAGO!
The city of Chicago did not need this win. If the Saints would have won New Orleans would temporarily forget about Katrina. But now it is still lurking in their minds.

If this is flamming....oh well

That is the most ignorat, stupid and idiotic comment i have ever heard
if the saints won and won the superbowl it wouldn't change s**t
tell me how the saints winning would save and rebuild the whole city
all the lives lost family and homes destroyed and you think that there gonna forget about it Do you think that the familys in the lower 9th ward are gonna forget about still paying mortgages on houses that are unlivible

You disrepected the city of New Orleans,Saints fans, and all the people who lost there lives because of Katrina

You sir, need to go to hell

The Bears are definitely going to win. The Colts might have a good offense, but the Bears just showed that their defense can stop anyone (since they only allowed 14 points to the best offense in the NFL); defense wins championships. Anyway, i wouldn't be surprised if all the "brainiacs" at ESPN pick the Colts, just like they all picked the Saints. I wouldn't really mind it that much though, because it is more fun to be considered the underdog (although i don't think the Bears are the underdog).

I totally agree with you
I dont know how you can consider the bears 7 point under dogs after what they did against the saints

I hate it that no matter how good they do they never get ne respect
but oh well you can hate all you want but theyll still beat your team

7 points is reasonable.
And it means nothing.

Looks at the Broncos vs Green Bay 11 point underdogs
Pats vs Rams 14 point underdogs.

I think this 7 points is more of a reflection of your QB ;)

He knows how to win big games unlike the choke artist in indy
he didnt play that googd against the saints but played smarter football then Peyton

Jones and Benson will have a day on them
THEY CANT STOP THE RUN

Also there Special Teams is Horrible didnt they give up over 250 vs Pats
theres no way they'll be able to stop hester

I'd bet a lot of money on Rex's nuts shriveling up if he was down 21-3 against the Pats.

And.....uh...... Larry Johnson and Jamaal Lewis >>>> scrub RB's you mentioned, and the Colts shut both of those guys down.

18-12 Colts are pulling away...

here's how I see it.
Grossman can play great and the Bears could still lose by 7.
or
Grossman could play horrible and the Colts will blow the Bears out.

That's a pretty wide scenario that equals the Bears losing...

Where do I start? Lets see I was hoping the Ravens make it to the super bowl, because I cant stand NE and the Colts. I was shoping NE would beat the Colts cause I cant stand them at all. Saints would of been a good story book ending, but I knew they could not beat Chicago. Now with that said I dont see the Bears beating the Colts, and that bothers me. I hope the Bears win but I dont think they can put enough points on the board, I think the Colts can get down field and kick a field goal. I see Manning throwing two td's as well, I think he is going to air it out and test the bears.

Colts 17 Bears 13

Obviously the Colts will win. You know why? Adam Vinatieri. It will be 21-21 in the 4th with 5 seconds left and Vinatieri will win the game with a FG.

Both of them are straight line runners including corey dillion there power runners
thomas jones is one of the best cutback guys in the league and thats exactly the kind of runners they have had problems with all year

grossman will be relaxed and be smart

theres no way the D is gonna let peyton score 21

people dont seem to rember the bears dimembering the #1 offense in the league #1 that means better then the colts

the last game was probably the worst special teams performance of any team during the year hester will get one maybe two

There will be laughing and crying, but one thing for sure is I will still have to get up and go to work on Monday and my paycheck will be the same so for me I really don't give a rats hairy butt. Last year when the Steelers won their 5th I was estatic, but the next day I got up, did the whole routine of getting ready for work, went to work, sat at my desk and said, "Man, The Steelers won the Super Bowl" if fact I said it loud enough for a co-worker to hear and he said "Who the &*%# cares, get to work. So guess what a week from now "NO ONE CARES" but enjoy the moment. - This message brought to you by the Squash Your Joy Foundation -

Let's face it there are 3 things that need to be considered.

1) Rex Grossman

2.) the Colts porous D

3.) Peyton Mannings choke factor

IMO, none of these problems have been solved and could play a pivotal role in the SB

The Pats game was the only game that saw the colts hit full stride imo.

As I have stated before... the chiefs were weak, period.
The Ravens offense was stagnant, period.

The second half of the Pats game was the best the Colts have played throughout the playoffs. Great time to find your stride :D

The Bears... I have no idea what to expect form that team week to week.

McNair played bad, defense did their job offense did not do there part, Colts had nothing to do with Ravens playing bad. Hell Ravens has chances to score but McNair did a bad job on his part. Ravens should have won, but thats old news.. Bears a good team and this is going to be a good game. But late in the game Colts make a comeback. Colts 17 Bears 13.
