Wow thanks for all the info guys!
My current situation right now is that my monitor only supports Component and DVI for HD so HDMI is out of the question for the time being.

I would also prefer a cable whoes plugs aren't thick or bulky like the Monster cables. Bulky plugs are hard to plug into device whoes ports are close together.

And last but not least, I am also interested in a component switch as I also have a Xbox and Xbox 360 I use on the same monitor.
I already know about the trick of using a standard Composite switch, and using the audio ports as video, but the last one I had shorted out after only 2 weeks of use, so I'm not sure if I'll go that cheap of a route agian.

What is the best solution for someone without HDMI...like me :(
(It's a 720p/1080i TV)

I am using component cables right now but is there something better I can do (or have) to make the picture look better?

I know that by the specifications sheets HDMI is superior to Component, but I haven't heard anyone talk about how the adverage human senses translates that superiority.
"Would you notice the difference in person?"
