Can you say sore wrist? I can't imagine playing a FPS for more than a hour before my hand would get tired. I mean, think of all the waiving your going to have to do. I am sorry Nintendo, you shot for the moon, but landed in the stars with this one.
I don't want to post less then five words but all I have to say is "HORRID!!"

I already have enough remotes as it is, I want a controller not another TV remote!!!
(Hoping) Maybe they will have a regular controller too.
And another thing how will this work with backwards compatibility, I dont think it will.
Maybe the GC controllers will lug in like some people were thinking. idk guess we just have to wait and see.

Your need to grow up. First of all you will be able to use the controller for every single system nintendo made. Secondly, why is it funny. I bet you that sony nor ms would have ever taken a chance on something like this.

Everyone expected something like a cross-breed between the 360 controller and the PS3 controller..and then...a tv remote with a wire connecting it to mouse with a joystick in it...dunno it just struck me as something weird.
it is a Tv remote for gods sake
I'd rather have a TV remote than a boomarang.
The small A and B buttons on the right hand side are very much out of reach, I doubt they will be used much.

Seriously, look at the cotroller, you have to hold 2 diffrenet pieces one in each hand; I am sure after just an hour of game play your hand will get tired. ( maybe I am wrong but regardless of how many nes systems you can play with this remote controller, I feel nintendo should have stuck to a more traditional controller, this thing is way ahead of its time) IMO

Yo put it this way, this is the conroller the next gen needed. I hope it makes sony and ms reconsider their future creations. Its like the tansition from joy stick to controller, revolutionary back in the days, now its just from controller to motion sensors.

Wow. How anti-climactic is that! Ok, you can plug things into it to increase the functionality, but the XBOX 360 controller can do that! Why did Nintendo say it didn't want to reveal this 'because it is easily copied'? I'm glad the ports on the Revolution are still the same for the GameCube because I'd much rather use that one!
Oh my god! I don't think I'm going to be able to sleep tonight!
EDIT: Ok, I was shocked at first, but now that I've read a little more about the 3D mouse tracking, it may have something to offer.
You guys joke about it all you want but Nintendo is evolving much faster then sony and M$
so in about 10 yrs nintendo will come up with some thing amazing. while M$ and Sony just upgrade there hardware and let everting stay the same.
BTW i have nothing agains any system I am getting all 3 when they Launch.

Yeah but the joystick was one piece of hardware and so was the controller that replaced joystick; Hence it was not a big transition for a gamer. This on the other hand has two piece; the only other gaming unit that has 2 pieces of hardware is PC gaming and with pc gaming at least you have a desk or some thing to rest your key board and mouse on and you don't have to hold them in your hand. Yes I have not held this controller in my hands yet, but I can tell you this I don't see me getting use to this new bred of controllers any time soon.

It's interesting that the two pieces are 'wired'. I thought the point was to free us from wires!
EDIT: I know Nintendo wants to pull in the extremely casual gamer, but I think the analog stick set-up looks even more intimidating than a standard conroller.
Now that I have recovered from laughing t it and have read some reviews it is the best controller. It will take 360's place as best FPS console game in a matter of seconds. I swear 360 is screwed
I do like the option of having game specific attachments bundled with the game. Perhaps will we see some funky new control schemes for different games, but then again who wants 5 or 6 controller attachments hanging around all the time?
The small a and b buttons are used when you turn the controller 90 degrees and use it like the original NES contrloller.
About your hands tiring out, why not just rest them on your legs or something. :?:
Remember when IGN did those controller mock-ups a while back and one or two of them were two piece controllers and everyone said that they sucked and would never be real. We were wrong big time lol. I guess we owe an apology to IGN.

So just how does this crazy piece of kit work? The remote control - with minimal buttons and a trigger on its underside, works a bit like a light gun - it's a pointer. On top of that, it responds to movements to each side. Interesting. Oh, it has force feedback, too.
Then there's the nunchuck, as Miyamoto quaintly puts it. It's basically an analog stick and a trigger. There's the possibility of other attachments, too.
It's all quite different to what anyone was expecting - but will developer's be able to adapt their conventional games to it? Time will tell...

This thing has alot of technology build into it; but I still don't like the 2 seperate pieces.

i am shocked and perplexed at nintendos decisions to make such a device. this is going backwards in controller evolution. Atari and other early console systems had controllers simmilar to this and we evolved passed them for good reason. They are awkward and you cant fit enough buttons to use for one hand.
And whats up with Nintendo giving us their horrible hard plastic joystick again? That thing is so rough on your thumb after hours of playing, that you either develop a calus or a nice blister.
I never wanted to write Nintendo off but with this latest development i may have to :?
Here is my idea for the best possible optional attachment to the revolution controller
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a159/wahey42/bestattachment.jpg
The hardest nintendo is going to hit is the 360 because the only thing that system is good for is FPS and now nintendo is going that part of the market with that awesome controller
Actually, in my eyes, the 360 will be the only console using the classic "Analog Controller" for FPS's, considering most PS3 users (Well, myself anyway), will be using a keyboard and mouse.
Which could evidently, leave the 360 lacking as far as accuracy and control for FPS games.
I love it! We've had three dimensional graphics for over a decade! It's about time we get 3-D controls!
Dude you know we live a 3d life  . You know the Ps3 allthe controlers for all the systems are 3d
There is a new video of the controller in action, I put the link at bottom of the first post on page one.

Yeah after watching that video you posted I kind of see where Nintendo is going with this controller I think it's good that Nintendo is trying something different like they did with the gamecube, but this might to much, but then again it's Nintendo and looks fun for the kids.
I would like some sword fighting though that looks like it's fun

Is one really needed? Just because the games are 3D doesn't mean the "input" device has to be. I also think the Eyetoy can be consdered one.

My initial response was, nintendo is smoking crack, but after a few mins of thinking I realized that this could be be the most revolutionary way to play games, I can't wait.
Just imagine swinging the bat in a baseball game in stead of pressing a button, or using a sword your way, not the way that it was programmed to be used, this controller is revolutionary in alot of ways, people need to think outside the box for a second instead of bashing it.
yeah and also thinking outside the box, and thinking of eye-toy.
you need a lot of space to play eye-toy to do the kind of movements your describing, one that not everyone will find space for.
And i still don't see children using that, the reason why the Snes was so popular was because the pad was easy for 5 year olds to grasp (i.e. ME!!).
I WAS going to get a revolution, but those catalog of old Nintendo titles don't seem interesting anymore, especially when you haave to use the analog and triggers for flips and stuff for Mario 64, Lylat wars etc. :(
I'll now be watching from the sidelines and see what type of games get released.

But give them the credite of givign us somthing totally new rather than bashing them because u want to stick to the norm!

this is going to be hard for me to work with here. I not sure if I can deal with that controller. but if nintendo think it's great then I'll give it a try.
I've always looked at controllers as tools. In the end, your controls are your hands and legs in the gaming universe. This thing takes it all one step up. The controller itself becomes the tool in the game. It's almost like an evolution like early man-kind.
Before we evolved our thought processes we only had limited interaction with the environment. But at some point we began to create tools and put them to use and it helped us evolve and boosted our standard of living. This controller is like the same thing, only its in our gaming. It's not so much about knee-jerk reaction button pushing so much as it is a translation of the natural everyday movements we make in our lives and putting them into a creative gaming atmosphere. It truly is a revolution!

Yea I would love to have to stand up the whole time I am playing a game, surely cant swing a bat sitting down, surely cant hit a golfball sitting down. great.. now if I am playing with both controllers i have to pause the game to even have a smoke?
Smoking is bad for you, anyways. Look at it as a good thing 8)
Also, you don't need to stand up to play things. You can sit down. Apparently, the sensitivity can be adjusted so that you can just chill with it.
er... so who is this not going to alienate the consumers that matters most... the kids...
Little kidywinks are the consumers that's keeping Nintendo alive, so if this gets rejected by them...
So, you're saying that you wouldnt want to hop on your kids console (if you're a parent) and play some Legend of Zelda or... perhaps.. Mario64 after the kids are asleep?

it is a Tv remote for gods sake
I'd rather have a TV remote than a boomarang.
And i'd rather have a comfortable boomerang rather than something that has add-ons and looks so darn uncomfortable ...
..rather than something that has add-ons and looks so darn uncomfortable ...
What if the add-on was a sweet looking gun or perhaps a light-saber? What if the add-on was something that resembled a Dual Shock 2 that the card-like controller could dock inside of? What if the add on was a Staff with cool artwork on it that made you feel like Gandalf? What if the add-on was a nerf-bat that was sensitive enough to rank your score against a friend or four with each hit?
The possibilities are out of control!

I think the ability to have radial input has massive potential as the 'sword' concept implies. Traditionaly input commands are associated with an animation routine that is displayed onscreen for example - in Tenchu if you press strike there are only a few animation sequences associated with that function. Hopefully the radial input method will allow full control of the arm holding the sword so the player has the full usable range of the bone segments in the arm of the character model.
My worries are fatigue and sensitivity - especially the 2 combined. Say you started playing with more range of control and an hour later your wrist or arms are getting tired - does the sensor array take this into account or does the user adjust that on the fly?
Just a side note - the GC controller is already backward compatible with every Nintendo game from GC down, all you need for Rev games would be the Kontrol-Kachu :D
Excellent point. I think if Nintendo thought this out then you will be able to adjust the sensitivity of the motion sensor by going to the Home button and changing sensitivity there.
It would be quite nice to see the sensitivity scale change with game-time.. Not sure how that would work since some people have more strngth than others unless the console has user profiles as well. Hmmmmmm

Wow, that controller was nothing like I expected it to be...
Anyways, I'm not sure if this is the best idea. The analog stick will hopefully be stronger than the Gamecube's analog stick. I think it's going to be awkward having two different controller-designs in each hand. It could end up very comfortable, though.
