i bought a North America PS3 and logged on to the USA network so i could download some of the fabulous demo's i live in the UK as some of you know..........but at the time it didnt offer me the choice to join the UK site as it didnt have the UK option......so.....can i alter the configuration to join the UK site when it becomes available????
When the PS3 comes close to the launch in Europe then yes you can, I get the message "You can not log in at this time, please wait for the system to launch in your region" so you will be able to. I'll be glad when I can, then I can finally buy some stuff online!

varsh did you do what i did to gain access and give an american address???
My friend let me use his Canadian address, and another friend let me use his Japanese address so I have access to both stores, I can't buy anything form them though as I don't have a CDN/JPN credit card.

Hi Guys,
Please tell me something, You guys have all imported PS3's from overseas, do you guys use power transformers, I heard from someone that they are not necessary? Any truth in that?
Thanks in advance.
Sorry, but you guys in Britain are on 220V
You don't need any transformers or step down converters at all, just make sure you use a 5 AMP kettle lead and you'll be fine.

Yes North American PS3's do work without a transformer. All you need is a kettle lead or PC lead that has a UK plug power connection and the appropriate PS3 connection on the other end. It's a fairly standard cable on most electronics.
It doesn't make financial sense to build three different models of PS3 with three different power settings. Nearly all commercial electronics works worldwide for this reason. The electronics is designed to operate on a wide range of voltages.
Hummm... My parents are in the US now, and I can get them to bring me a US PS3 (I live in Denmark btw.).
I'm planning on buying European games, and importing US Blu-ray movies. So far so good.
The voltage is no problem, games are no problem, and importing US Blu-ray movies isn't a problem...
My problem is that I want full access to the European PSN. If I read Varsh's post correctly, I won't be able to log on to the European PSN until it launches in March. That's not a problem to me - I can wait for network access.
When the European PS3 launches, will I have full access to the European PSN network though? Has this been confirmed anywhere? I'd hate having to muck about with a European account on a US PS3, connected to the internet in Europe.
What about censored games? There was a thread in the PS3 discussion forum about regional coding of the consoles (for censorship purposes), but I'm still confused *sigh*
Should I get the US version or wait for the European one?

"my problem is that I want full access to the European PSN. If I read Varsh's post correctly, I won't be able to log on to the European PSN until it launches in March."
It's possible, just fake the american address for the US store and the likewise for the Hong Kong store.
"When the European PS3 launches, will I have full access to the European PSN network though?"
Yes, then you can delete your fake US and Hong Kong accounts and create a new, danish account.

Resistance is censured in japan, the blood is gone. This is however easy to get rid of by just downloading an American save file.
"Should I get the US version or wait for the European one?"
The EU version will be a lot more expensive, so why not buy it now? :)
So what you're telling me is that a US PS3 and a European PS3 are exactly the same console, apart for region coding of Blu-ray movies?
The console's origin has *no* effect on PSN account usage? I don't care about getting a US or Hong Kong PSN account - all I want is a European one.
What about upgrades/patches? Will I need a US account to upgrade my US PS3, or can it do that from the European PSN?
