Sony have had a great start shipping nearly 2 million consoles already but they need to improve the online service quickly as people with a PS3 and a 360 will buy the game for the 360 if they have live.
I know its early days but it doesn't look like they are going to improve it they need to improve everything about the PSN.
First thing they need to improve is they need to let you access friends lists while playing a game and read messages while playing a game.
Second thing is be able to invite your friend to a game.
Third thing is live arcade gets new exclusive demos every week and get multi platform demos every week just now GRAW2 Def Jam Icon and NBA Homecourt coming soon but Sony have got nothing thats been updated demo wise except for GT:HD Concept and Gripshift.
I know its not Sony's fault and the Dev's choose to put it on Live and not on PSN but if Sony want to win this console war they should push and get the demos we have to pay a massive amount for a console and i know its got blu ray in but not everyone wants Blu Ray if we put our money in Sony they should put in effort to secure demos and fix these little things.
4th Thing
Get some downloadable content on there like new COD Maps new Resistance maps new Ridge Racer Circuits new Boxers for Fight Night New kits for Madden and NBA All we have so far is something for Genji Sony should push Insomniac to get some new maps out and Namco to get new circuits out if MS can do it Sony can.

Thanks,

Xbox live doesnt get new exclusive demos every week. I only use my 360 once or twice a week and in the past month, ive only seen like 2 new demos. And again, give PSN some time. I doubt Xbox live was booming after only a couple months. Being patient will pay off, so dont worry.

Ok not every week but GRAW Def Jam and NBA Homecourt are Multi platform games but Sony is not pushing enough to get them of the Playstation Store

Everything you Guys keep bitching about will be added/fixed in updates. The biggest update that happens in march will probably add all the stuff you guys complain for but, in the end most of you will still complain because thats what you do.

/rant

Seriously, every couple of days someone complains about a service that started a little over 4 months ago. What we need is a bitching thread so everyone can vent and it wont cause me to foolishly click a thread thinking it will ad something new to the PS network forum area.

Please don't forget that Sony's not done launching. Right now most of their resources are going towards that European launch and, with GDC around the corner, working with second and third parties to help spread knowledge of how the hell you're supposed to develop for PS3. Priorities are important for any company, and right now the biggest priority for Sony is making a successful launch in the next territories, not the online service (which is already getting a bit of a boost before the launch in March with firmware update 2.0).

It's highly likely that after GDC and the PAL launch we'll start to see a lot more developers taking the time to prepare demos and additional content for PlayStation Network, as well as Sony taking more time to develop and perfect the network service.

I have experienced very little lag on the PSN.

And you shouldn't be using wifi for gaming anyways.

But you're right, they need to improve the bells and whistles ASAP.
Looking toward MArch... but I expect another huge update by November

i will take a free service anyday, no matter how much it sucks, compared to ps2, atleast they're trying with the ps3.

ps3 lifestyle will be like myspace/youtube, its going to be your profile were you can post your video clips and all that, it basically a ps3 owners forum

All of Sonys efforts are on the EU launch. When all countries are up and running with PS3s I'm sure Sony will focus more on the PSN. If you ask me PSN has more potential because it is free, but we need to wait about 6 months after EU launch to see.

I don't know what PSN you use bud, but I have noticed zero lag. True the content is weak and old and Sony needs to step it up. Ever thought the connection is you and not your PS3? ;) And for your info, PS3 actually cares the best Bluray drive out there.

I and I suspect many others would pay an annual fee if it meant we were getting a similiar service to Xbox Live. Take away the GTHD download and the whole online side of things has been a complete shambles so far. I simply dont think its anywhere near good enough, things are barely better than they were on the PS2.

You are right. Look at all the cool stuff you could download with your PS2. All the cool new demos and trailers. I don't know why Sony lost all this going over to the PS3. I mean instead they give us universal log in, demos and more stable online play. What were they thinking?

Dont make me laugh fanboy. So you think a few downloads in the store makes the service good? How many 'cool new demos' have been made available from the webpage store since the original ones in November? How many non movie trailers have been added since the original ones in November? Have you actually tried Live on the 360 compared to the online service on the PS3 and I'm not just talking about the store for downloads. Try taking off your Sony tinted glasses for a minute and you'll see PSN doesnt even come close to Xbox Live at this moment in time. Things are barely better than the PS2 online model apart from 'All the cool new demos and trailers' you speak of. Oh musnt forget that universal log in as well!

I'm not buying this "Sony is putting all of its efforts on the EU launch" argument. What? are their programmers helping UPS physically ship the units? Also, 4 months is a long time. If I were Sony, I would have EVERY single movie trailer produced by Sony Pictures available for download in HD; that's not very hard to do and it's free advertising. Also, the store is disorganized and slow (my connection is fine).

"The PSN has more potential because it's free." Huh? What's the reasoning in this? People aren't going to pay for a service unless you offer them something worth paying for. This is how Live stays alive. It gives you a reason to keep paying. I think Live has more motivation to keep offering a strong product and also to offer a product that's better than the competitions'.

"I would take a free service any day no matter how bad over a pay service." Easiest counter argument: public transportation!

I don't see how anyone can disagree that the service, as it is presented now, is poor. It has no "community" feel to it. No forums or chat-rooms? I agree that the ability to access your friends menu in-game would be a nice touch. And even if it's meant to be a "store", there's nothing really worth buying. Gripshift and Blastfactor are basically HD demos.

Please would you hop off Bill Gates..well you can figure it out. Did you even have an xbox? If you did than please tell me how long it took for them to get xbox live running? Because I did and I know it sure as hell was not out of the box and when it DID come around all there was to play was...you guessed it HALO 2.

XBL has not always been this "city on a hill" that all these people claim for it to be. Hell PSN is already doing a LOT better than XBL was when it first came out. I dont remember many demos, halo 2 was laggy as **** for the most part and even though it was more "unified" it didn't matter if everyone were playing just 1 game.

My advice? Stop bitching about a FREE service than has been around for FOUR months! I know that PSN has a lot to do such as more demos, being able to check messages in game and hell I would love to be able to listen to music in game. The facts are though Sony is contracting on the EU release and PSN is not a major concern right now. So all we can do is wait and a few select people can take off their green tinted glasses and realize that XBL was not the **** when it first came out as well..

that the psn network while free is hardly worth that
its blows to hard to find a game and then most games lag when you do find one
