Online play will be fine with decent wifi but you'll get really slow downloads - I know from experience.

Dude, you don't hook a ROUTER up to the PS3 cuz it already has WI-FI built in. The Router connects to your computer and takes it's internet signal and sends it to the Wi-Fi device which in this case is the PS3.
P.S. If you have a 20 GB i don't think it recognizes USB Wi-Fi adaptors yet.
i didnt hook the router to my ps3 sorry if i didnt make myself clear i meant my pc i was just wondering if the wifi connection was good or should i try something else and the thing i was trying to hook to my ps3 was thru the usb port it was called a wireless g usb adapter

Oh so you do have a 20 GB.
USB Wireless G adaptors don't work yet on the PS3.
Wait for a future Firmware update.
no i do have the 60 gig vesion and ive hooked it up thru wi fi but is there another way to get a better connection or is wi fi the best way to go?

I use WiFi for my PS3 and have had no problems. It's as reliable as a wired connection.
But for some people it is not. Many people have even a better "connection percentage" than I, and I still haven't had any problems.
So it all depends. If you're Wireless is acting up, then the next best thing would be to switch to a wired connection, if you still have a problem then it's time to switch ISP's. ;)
Also, the "USB WiFi" that you've bought was just a waste of money. You should just return it or hook it up to some old computer that doesn't have WiFi.

wired or wireless the ps network sucks
i bought my ps3 and like it for the most part but the network, lags big time
alot of time it cant even be played on
i have a 95 percent signal strength and a broadband cable connection
madden is awful, tiger woods is sometimes bearable
but just lag lag lag
anytime the network gets busy
not even playable most of the time no wonder its free
most of the time i feel the psn should be paying me to play on it

Geez, give it a break. PSN's only been around for 4 months now, what do you expect? Xbox Live quality? That's been around for years.
It's probably slow because there is so many people on at the same time, I think on the March release they are installing more servers or something, so more space equal no lag.

That sucks. I've played R:FOM and NBA 2K7 and have had no problem with 40% signal...even at 40 player online battles.
2K7, the worst part is connection...and you may occasionally get a "waiting for user to connect" or something.

What??? you are confusing me, i mean, you want to use the wireless thing and you are hooking it to the PS3?
I don't get it :S
But i do have a suggestion, use wired internet, its easier to use and better! you just need one cable, a normal router (you should already have one) and the PS3, no matter which version :)
