Am i the only one thats getting annoyed by them? Topics are getting way off topic because of them too. It seems now when Sony or MS releases something someone HAS to post something such as " sony is done now" or "MS has no chance, MS is dumb" and this creates a flame war. Or by saying GT5 is way better then PGR3 when BOTH games haven't been released yet.

Basically i ask if nothing you post is constructive please don't post because im getting tired of seeing potentially good threads turned into flame wars etc.

Pink raises a good point and the forum staff support his key point - which is:

Don't post non-constructive topics

We definitely don’t enjoy dishing out punishments and we certainly don’t want to be regarded as a SS forum, but we do sometimes have to be tough on users who spoil things for the rest of the forum users. So it is in the interest of forum quality that we make and enforce these rules and consequently any member posting flame-bait will be dealt with swiftly and surely in accordance to the forum rules.

I'll try to keep an eye out for non-constructive posts..particullarly threads that might just be flaim bait.

good idea but please do not go lock crazy or lock posts that you think might possibly have a potential of getting off topic. i don't think people get off topic on prupose but if they do then they need to be told or have the post locked but try not to jump to conclusions.

i'm not a moderator but my views on it is that locking should be discouraged and isn't the answer to every problem. hopfully fellow members will be able to detect off topicness and stop it and if not then that is when we need a mod to set us back on track.

but good thought on the spam threads, i mean i like fast food and soft drinks as much as the next person but having two pages about them is uneeded

Have I or any other mods ever gone lock crazy? I try to keep from having to lock threads because it limits my work. *that sounds bad I know*

Yes there are a few mods that just go crazy. But most of them are good. I think we are keeping it as unuseless as possible.

I second those crazy locks on everything sometimes (hint*5 word topic*hint). However there aren't too many useless posts around here but I know a forum that has topics like "I'm eating a cookie right now" and "I need help with math" .

i'm not against quickly locking unless threads or repeated threads but there are some threads that are doing fine but still get locked becuase there might be some justification for a lock even when it is not needed. i just hope the mods dont think they have to go out trying to find threads to lock, they only need to lock those that they come across and decide that there is a problem with it that cannot be corrected through a post noting the mistake

i'm not going to name any names so all i am going to say is i have not seen you lock very many posts. and about not locking threads because it is more work, i like the fact that you dont instantly lock threads but its for the wrong reason, thought i suppose it all ends up with the same outcome.

i just hope the mods dont go out looking for threads to lock rather than just going out to supervise the threads and give a post of notice if there is a problem and hoepfully the problem can be resolved without a lock

Honestly, I would think you guys believe we enjoy locking threads or something.

There have been instances in the past where mods have gone overboard on the strictness and locked too many threads, however I think a good balance has been found at the moment. It's tough to know what to do somethimes, but I think we're doing well at the moment.

I agree with Pink, there are just too many pointless posts that incite Flame Wars. I know it's unavoidable, mainly when the source of the information is reliable, but in cases where whole threads are based on a misinterpretation of what one reads or a lack of knowledge about some subject, I believe it'd be healthier to lock them and maybe pm the user to take a bit more time before starting a thread.

These are recent examples of what I'm talking about:

Uhmzzz i agree only with the first link, this link is provided with some PS3 fan that doesn't like the Xbox 360 so much.

The Seccond link is fine by me and it's NOT posted in the Xbox 360 section so why u get annoyed with this article, it's from an other site and it's not made by some normal member. so first like DELETE

seccond link: just let people play with it!!!!

John, The second one is also posted in the Xbox 360 section.

I'd say that flame wars are expected, considering that the guy only took a little line of the article, while the whole rest of it was praising the Next-Gen Quality of xbox 360 games.

With forum like this you're ALWAYS going to get peolpe who make useless posts and degrade the discussion. All we can do it try out best to moderate and educate these people, and for the members not to allow themselevs to be so easily deterred from the topic at hand.

Yeah what with TGS there's bound to be a boost of new members on the forums, and most of them probably don't or haven't read the rules yet. Same thing happened after e3, I should know, I was on of em  .

At least you got your first wish Aquanox 1 for 2. You're batting .500 in baseball terms.

Though i'm glad the mods didn't delete your second chioce.
