from their website. Also i tried looking everywhere for it but i do not see anything on HD-DVD current or future releases. (Unlike Sony's website where you have a Blu-Ray section). I tried doing a search on HD-DVD and all i got was a "could not display page".
What's going on here?

I can't find any information about HD-DVD or future releases or anything... A sign of victory for Blu-Ray? :)
kind of a weird way of saying it. Doesn't confirm it. I'll wait for an announcement. If it's true though.....Blu-ray wins in record time.

Maybe those recent management shakeups at Universal have made them go format neutral :DD.
Or maybe the page is just down, or their changing their release line up.:(
It looks like the site is just down. When you click on up coming releases, like Hollywoodland, than the site shows coming on DVD and HD-DVD.

Either way, to me personally Blu-ray will come up the victor at the end whether this is the beginning or not :)

I still think that if you are a big Movie Production Studio and you are supporting a certain dvd format, you should at least have some sort of link for your loyal customers. . Especially if you are planning to release 100 movies in 2007..

I've only been to their website once before. Did they have a HD-DVD section on it before and it was taken down? Or have they never had one?

Lastnight me and my bf went to Frys and we went to the video section and right in front of me was the Blueray rack. It was twice as big as it was last month.
but anyways looking around we noticed that there weren't any HD-DVD's around like there was(used to be right by the Blu-ray). We seriously were looking everywere trying to find them and also asked 3 employees who didn't know and finally we asked the software manager were they were.
They were way in a back corner...next to the UMD videos....I wonder if that means something

Sounds like a another nail in the coffin
The bet should now be not "if" Universal Studios switches to neutral or BD but WHEN they switch.
My money is on before the end of 2007. Maybe spring 08 if the bosses are really too stubborn to admi their mistake.

Sounds like a another nail in the coffin
ouch!!
I hope they'll be neutral soon. That means that some of my favourite movies will be released in format that i can use, the mighty blu-ray.
And that also means no studio back HD DVD exclusively
C'mon no way "the war" could be over that fast Universal can still pull this out right?
This is HD DVDs official website, this "war" is far from over.

Lol every time I read another post about HD-DVD vs Blu-Ray, I keep hearing the song "Hello, the end" by Alex Lloyd. Not a very good song, yet somehow so fitting.
This is the end, my friend,
the end, my friend, the end.
I hope to see you again, my friend,
again, my friend, again.
And I didn't want to hold you back
and I didn't want to see you off now, down the wrong track.
Elusive personality, I think you know as much as me.
No secrets that you're hiding.
Count 4 and we'll begin again, we'll begin again.
This time, release, my friend,
release, my friend, the end.
And I didn't want to hold you back
and I didn't want to see you off now, down the wrong track.
This time, it makes so sense at all,
I'm standing still while others fall.
Keeps shrinking every second.
Hello
The End, the End.
The End.

My thoughts on the subject? Here's what I wrote in another thread
I think Universal's lack of showing at CES this year is representative of things to come. I believe they will announce a neutral stance at the begining of their next fiscal year. March-April 2007. Studios will faze out production of HD-DVD's before the holiday rush so early adopters of the format can request a Blu-ray player for xmas

HD-DVD has 18 scheduled releases, through April.

BD has 55 scheduled releases, through April.

It will be over soon if HD DVD can't get their sales turned around. Next up is probably a price war.
Time and unit sales will tell over the next 3 months...
The only stats that really matter now are that Blu-ray (according to Sony) has passed HD-DVD sales in cumulative units sold, and that's over the lifetime of each format. Then you've got many, many more releases coming out this year for Blu-ray. It would take a huge announcement for HD-DVD or a huge setback for Blu-ray to turn the tides now, IMO.

Does Ice Age 2 look really good compared to Talledega Nights? We have 3 HDTVs right now, but my dad refuses to buy any HD movies because he says DVDs are so good and he can hardly tell the difference of Blu-Ray. The only Blu-Ray we watched so far is Talledega Nights that came with my PS3. Does that movie look crappy compared to other Blu-Ray releases? I'll admit that movie didn't look too good, but my dad thinks Blu-Ray isn't worth it because he saw that one movie.
I read Ice Age 2 was pretty good looking. I'm goin out to the store today and I hope to get my own HDMI cable to use on the new HDTV (check sig). Would Ice Age 2 in 1080p on my PS3 be enough to convince my dad? We watched Talledega Nights on a 100+" 720p projector so that may have made it look worse.

I've heard that a couple of the best ones are Kingdom of Heaven or Black Hawk Down. Best one so far I've seen is Superman Returns, which looks spectacular. I wouldn't get an animated movie to prove how great HD movies are though, but that's just me. Yes they look a lot better, but you need something that really shows off the format. If you check out the AVS forums, they should have some ideas for you.

Rent Tears of the Sun! Your dad will be eating so much crow he'll be crapping feathers for months!
lol i love this misleading statement from the official sites FAQs
How Can i experience HD DVD?
You can experience HD DVD on all the platforms you currently experience DVDs: home theater systems, laptops, Media Center PCs and gaming consoles.

Ice Age 2 looked amazing on my 720p LCD... it really IS a big difference over DVD... I have it hooked up with HDMI and Optical Audio.

Saw this somewhere on the net. Just thought posting if someone might find this interesting!
I don't have blu-ray yet as i am in Europe, but watching Planet Earth (BBC nature program) in HD convinced me that i need a blu-ray player. DVD just isn't the same. I don't think HD-DVD and Universal will roll over and die just yet. There are still those cheap Chinese players to come, which is a tactic Philips used to improve popularity of the +R media. i can see Universal also supporting Blu-Ray though. It makes good business sense.
Just in case y'all didnt know this
The BLU-RAY releases 4 february ALONE surpasses the HD-DVD releases for 2007 !!!! crazy. LOL
if u want a link i'll provide one:d
