The studios in the Blu-ray camp aren't letting up just because Universal refuses to let everyone know when they can expect more movies on HD DVD, well other than it will be during 2007. Disney, Fox and Sony have all announced release dates for Blu-ray titles previously announced at CES including; Turistas (April 17), Chicken Little (March 20), Finding Neverland (March 20), King Arthur (April 3), G.I. Jane (April 3), and The Pursuit of Happyness (March 27). High-Def Digest has already updated their release page which is shows that Blu-ray has more titles with dates for February than HD DVD has for all of 2007

Uh-oh. The vultures are circling round HD-DVD's rotting carcass. I believe the "war" will be over sooner rather than later.
Wow, i didnt think the tide had turned quite that severely.

If the ps3 didnt incorporate Blu-ray then this war would drag on for a while but due to the sheer number of players that are out for each format, HD-DVD doesnt have a chance. Im happy. The quicker the format war is over the better it is for consumers. We get ALL movies on one format and the uptake will increase as it becomes less confusing for people.
Universal wont be able to ignore BD for much longer and once they crack, that'll be the end of HD-DVD.
I agree with LevelheadedGamer about that Universal won't be able to ignore BD for much longer. And as soon as they admit to it, HD-DVD is gone.

Its still my guess that they won't just do an immediate 180 and change formats over night. It will be a slow adoption of Blu Ray, then a period of dual format, and then a slow decline of HD DVD.....Yay..just means we have to wait longer

I heard someone explain yesterday that Universal is miling HD-DVD for as long as they can, which force people to re-buy if thier HD-DVD player is obsolete later...
Its aploy to get people to re-buy or buy both! So I would guess they hold on till holiday season of 2007...

The problem is that even if Universal agree to put movies out on both formats because of the strength of the BD lineup, people would still choose BD. Normally you would expect a long protracted war which basically does neither the early adopters or the HD movie industry any good. In this case, though, we have a wildcard. The PS3. Here we have a device which is cheap (for a BD player) and will sell far more units per year than standalone BD or HDDVD players.

This is why you go with what format has the most studio support.
