View Full Version : Who got a PSX?
Hey, who actually got a PSX? I think it's a waste of money myself but is it actually worth it and did it actually sell good? I haven't actually seen one in stores myself since I live in a small town and we probably can't afford to carry them... How much did it cost?

If I could afford one, and it was no sweat, I'd get one. But I can't, so I won't...
it's not even released anywhere but japan -.- how can we have it?
The question is: Who is eligible to get it
Really? I heard it was released in North America... My bad! I think I'll just go curl up in a cold damp cave... No I won't, you can't hook up your ps2 in caves!!! jk.

^^^^^^^
That would be rather difficult, now wouldn't it?
*Still doesn't own a PSX*
I wouldnt get one even if I could afford it, the idea just doesnt appeal to me. Seems like something you buy more for bragging rights than anything.

ya i have one and its kind of the same but just as good as the ps2
They've only been released in Japan thus far to the best of my knowledge...how did you obtain one? I believe your unaware of what the PSX is.

I believe your unaware of what the PSX is. I've got your back on that assumption Blake ;)
lol, maybe he could be referring to the PS1 AKA originally PSX? nah...
I believe that's what he is thinking...I think that was it's codename, not sure though.
Yep PSX was the Code Name of the original Playstation.
Play Station was originally the name of the CD-Rom add on for the SNES that Sony worked with Nintendo on. When Nintendo ditched the add on, Sony decided to enter the market themselves (After all, they had spent the money developing most of a console, what did they have to lose?)
They code named the new project PSX. The rest is history that is still be written.
Yes A bit of history...Nintendo hired Sony to make the Nintendo CD Drive *or something I forgot* once Sony almost finished with the memory card and everything *think Nintendo Station...* As soon as they were finished, about 80 percent or so...once again I forget...Nintendo decides they'll ditched Sony and go back with cartridges again. Sony thinking "We have an almost complete system...and we got ditched...let's go into the market again the person who ditched us" <-- fake for those of you people who think it's real -_-.... And so they entered the market and I bet Nintendo regrets ever ditching sony.
Ahem..Siren kinda covered that. Anyone who follows the Playstation better be aware of this already. Isnt it ironic and also kind of funny though that Nintendo ditching Sony like that is problly one of the biggest mistakes they ever made. Now Nintendo is barely holding on with a whimper while Sony has the largest userbase of gamers ever..with MS not to far off.

Ill probably get a PSX eventually I think it would look better among all of my entertainment system. The PS2 is an awkward shape and looks out of position. Ive got a silver X-Box and A silver GC which is the same colour of the TV, DVD ect. And the PSX would look alot more FLASHY amongst the other items.

Yes...the PSX does have a sleek design to it. Maybe they'll branch off of that idea for the PS3? Who knows...I sure as heck don't.
If they do, hopefully they don't put the controller ports in the back again.
PeanutButterMunky
11-22-2004, 03:14
Yeah...the back is a rather lame place for controller ports. It doesn't look as cool in the back compared to the front. I think they did that because of the whole all-around multimedia thing...all the plugs in one place...but it was still kind of stupid...
they put it in the back because the gaming console really was just put on there to make money and people to 'upgrade' their PS2s...

Then get a cordless controller and it wouldnt seem so devious.

That would probably be a good idea. People always say they get tired of buying batteries...but I always get rechargeable, so it's not that big of a deal (but they're expensive), unless the controller...
I just hate the cords getting tangled up..it's annoying.

I just hate the cords getting tangled up..it's annoying. Yeah...I always do a meticulous job of keeping them nice and straight...but it sucks when there's 4 cords everywhere, and 20 knots to untangle. Makes life very difficult.

Thats whats good about the XB controller. You can undo the cord at the part that goes into the controller port. This allows you to untangle them more easily because you dont have to put the controllers through gaps they cant fit through.
Sorry if im not clear. Im writing this at 2:04 and im very tired. Just cant be bothered to go to sleep.
I don't understand how you tangle the cords -_- I usually just ask my friend to sit on the side of the controller their playing, then roll it up after I finish
Most of us are lazy and just toss are controllers aside..thus the tangling.
lol...well my mom's a clean freak, if I leave it on the floor I risk my ps2 falling over...tumble...tumble..tumble...
My mom's a clean freak too, so that's why I keep my PS2 and GC and everything in my room! She rarely goes in my room due to fear... One of these days she's gonna walk on top of my heap of clothing and find me sleeping under there or someone else or something like that!!! I'm the worst for cleanliness and knot tying with my controller wires!!!

Most of us are lazy and just toss are controllers aside..thus the tangling. That's pretty much EXACTLY the reason. Happens mostly when friends are over and we're playing a fighting game. Everyone keeps passing the controllers every which way, and the cords become a nightmare
meh...if only I had friends that came over...
I don't really like the PSX and don't need the other components it offers, besides I'm saving my money for XBOX2 and the PlaySation3.

Don't worry about it. I think Sony isn't gonna make it come out in the US. They know it's not going to sell well here.
So this forum is kinda useless don't ya think?
Although there is a possible chance of a revamped version...so this forum should be here until the end of the ps2

sony stopped production of the PSX as said in the thread "Sony Stoppes Production of the PSX"

was an experiment that failed due to price
The PSX is just another way Sony is trying to take our money. And the sad part is, people will buy it even though it has a bunch of useless features most normal people don't need just because it has the PlayStation name in it.
Hey it might have been high on price, but hell who am i kidding, if it can record tv, then its worth something...

omg, i just relized that i dont know what the "X" stands for lol; does anyone know :?: maybe its for "e'X'treme"
EDIT: i guess no one really knows. who would have guessed it :?
POST 2:     this is absoulutly shocking to me. no one here actually knows what the "X" stands for?
It probably is!!! If you think about it, X is commonly used to mean the best. X-Box, isn't there Xtreme gum or something like that, people just like it better than other letters. Like, PSL or L-Box would just sound dumb!!!
i think the x would mean Playstation xtreame, becuase of the price, and the features
Yep! But, if you ask me, as eXy as it is, I think I'll skip it! I have a PS2 and all the other features that the PSX contains! I just think it would be a huge waste of money for gamers like me!
The PSX could be a test run of their 'vision' of having a home media centre, and guess what! M$ is thinking the same thing!
Yeah, but in the long run I think PSX would probably make em lose money! There prob'ly won't be enough sales to make it worth while!

your probibly right, but for someone that doesnt have a PS2 and wants a tv recorder then the PSX might be something that might fit well (as in he/she might consider it
Yeah, if I didn't have all the functions of the PSX I'd definitley look into buying it to, but it's the 21st century and things aren't as expensive as they used to be and probably 95% of Canadians, Americans, Japanese, English, etc. people have the majority of what the PSX contains!

This thread hadnt had a reply to it since January....oh and then you showed up to talk about how this thread is pointless and a waste of your reading. If you hadnt responded, the thread would of remained dead. However you couldnt have that, you had to get your 2 cents in on a long dead thread thinking it might earn you some cool points..instead you just look like a retard. Maybe you thought we'd all think you were one sly cat, I bet after responding you had a nice grim smug on your face and were thinking "Im tha man"
Sealing you away forever would be alot more fun and benificial for these boards as opposed to this harmless thread.
Woah Blake... getting a little touchy are we? Meh not my place to question a mod.

No your right Cody that post doesn't sound at all like Blake. And it amazes me that this part of the whole forum doesn't get much talk in it but yet there are like 12000 different other things that could take it's place and lots would talk about it. Instead of there being a PSX area we should put in a PC area.

Done
In a newly launched developer's blog, Dark Kingdom's producer, Andy Sites, talks about about developing a launch game, scrapping a playable character pre-E3 and more; a blog post he considers "ten months of blood, sweat and empty pizza boxes, summarized in a few paragraphs".
Sites pointed out some of the hardships of developing a launch game. "While the PS3 is nearly hardware complete, it is still in its infancy from a developer standpoint. [...] we're at the forefront of an entirely new generation of gaming system. We're like a team of test pilots figuring out what works, what doesn't, and what our limits are" he said.
In the same blog post, he also mentions that the game's Brute character was scrapped 10 months into development because it was "cartoony" and "wasn't cutting the mustard". The development team then completed a demo just weeks before E3- a demo which Sites believes was "was received very well by those that played it on the show floor".
Things seem to be going well for the team, which Sites mentions is now about 50 strong. He also revealed that the game's second playable character will be gracing the cover of July's Play magazine.
