has anyone else been having trouble signing in to the PSN in the last couple of days? i think my problems started two evenings ago, and i haven't been able to sign in since. my connection works fine for everything else, including surfing the web via the PS3 browser, but the PSN is just completely unresponsive. a Sony tech support representative said that they're having a problem with the PSN, and gave me no timetable as to when it would be fixed. has anyone else experienced this same issue over the past couple of days?

i haven't but let me use this time and apologize to anyone who is in my friendlist(chimam2002), about the constant signing in and out my ps3 has being doing for the past two days. it was my router(friends house), i didnt open the ports so it kept on flickering, but now everything is good cause am back home

Well yeah i have, but it started since this morning for me, actually i came here to check if there were any threads about it. It'll just say signing in and then after 10 seconds or so i get a timed out connection to the network message, but the web browser works fine.
I was hoping that they were updating it or adding something to it but then it shouldnt be down for hours, more than likely just a tech issue they're trying to fix and that's it, we can only wait and see.

My network has been working fine... at least when my PS3 will start games lol (stupid error 80005001). I really need to cash in on my EB warranty (I knew it would come in handy).

yeah, im also having trouble logging in. the connection keeps timing out.
yeah, mine was doing the same thing yesterday, all day. thought it was going
tits up. same thing today till around noon. just happy it was'nt my ps3!!!!!

Yeah I wasn't able get online to play FoM but the browser worked fine as well as the PSN store. Took advantage of not being able to play multiplayer and completed the campaign game.
Aight this is two days now that i cant sign on PSN. I guess i have to keep playing offline. Dang

Well luck u WALLSTREET. All my clan mates are ranking up on me in Resistance and I have to sit by idly and watch as my rank becomes less andd less superior. WTF!!!!
My only hope it that the network is back up when I get home tonight.
Has anybody had this problem and then figured a way to resolve it?

Well, this makes me feel a bit better now.
I can't sign in, yet my brother can, from the same house, the same PS3, the same network.
It takes him two seconds to sign in, mine times out after a minute of trying to sign in.

I just found this forum a few minutes ago to see if I was the only one having problems or not. I couldn't sign in all day yesterday, and I can't sign in now. This is killing me! I just want some Madden online!
I guess I'll just keep trying. If anyone finds anything out, please post up.

as i said in my OP, i called sony and they said they'd been having some sort of trouble with the PSN. wouldn't specify what, or how long it would take to be resolved. apparently it only affects some of us, though... pretty annoying.

well i could connect every time until about 30 minutes ago when i finally decided to secure my wireless network.. the ps3 has 100% signal but the psn times out every time now...what can i do..

I think only US PSN is down, I connect to Taiwan and it connects.

I have me, my wife, a friend and a guest account all on my ps3. Me and My wifes account will not sign, however, guest and my friends account will.
Im not looking forward to playing over 100 ranked resistance games to get my ****ty stats back. :no

What are the port numbers for the ps3? If I opened them, would the ps3 stop signing on and off all the time?
Wow, this is so strange. I've seen other people at this forum saying they couldn't sign on but it's never happened to me.
In fact, I just got done playing Resistance online about 30 minutes ago with no problems. There really didn't seem to be a lot of people on though, so maybe there is a problem.
Has anybody had this problem and then figured a way to resolve it?
I'm having the same issue as well and I found another thread on here for the same issue. Somebody mentioned trying to set-up another account, so I decided to open up a sub-account under my wifes name and e-mail address and it worked.
When I log off her account and go back to mine then I get the "timed out" message. Pretty weird. So for the time being until Sony hopefully fixes this issue then try setting up a new account (in my case sub-account).
I know by opening up a new account you will not be able to use your previous rankings from your main account, but this is a band-aid solution.
I did manage to log in after a while. I dont really have a method that worked but I can tell you what I messed around with. First i tested the connection, which when doing this, it passes the first two tests but the third which is the psn test, it fails. Then I try to log in a few times. Then i go back to the internet settings and disable the internet then i go back and enable it. then i try logging in a few more times. then i'll restart. eventually it worked. I dont think anything i did had a direct effect with it finally working. But i did eventually get in.

I think you have to open certain points. As for the people with the 80005001 error when booting games I have the same thing. I am hoping it is a firmware thing.

I opened all of the ports that it said to open in the Madden instruction book. I did that a while ago though. Nothing had changed from when I was signing in Friday to when I tried to sign in on Sunday.
I will try it again when I get off of work here in about 4 hours and post up the results.

yea. i had the same annoying ass problem. mines happened 2/10 @ approximately 2 pm. what the hell!? i kept fukin around wit it 2 c what the fuk was goin on. the router was workin perfectly, the web-browser aswell. i did that stupid lil network connection check thing.. : succeded, internet connection: succeded, playstation network: FAILED...??? Then i finally texted a buddy of mines but he was able 2 get on just fine. thats when i decided 2 create another user and thats y my name changed from ateanboy 2 atean_boy. yup. true story. add me if u play resistance.
neways, i think some **** happened wit some of sony's servers and they fuked my **** up. :( All that time spent playin resistance online and gettin my ranks up...down the drain.

I just tried it out and it worked...I did lose the last guy I added to my friends list a few days ago...although he may have removed me or something...so I dunno.
But yeah, I was able to log in within seconds.

Yep, I logged in as normal when I got home from work yesterday. Didn't take longer than usual or anything. Also my game stats were correct from before my PSN went down.

After 5 days of not being able to connect I finally got on. WTF!!!! Then I had to reset my router to get back on again last night. Craziness!!!
