Hello and thank you for contacting Nintendo,
We appreciate your interest in our next home console, code-named Nintendo
Revolution and are glad that you like the new controller. While I would like to
be able to answer your question about the start up cost for a controller, I am
afraid that I do not have access to that information.
You also asked about release date and price for the system, but please note that
the information that you asked about has yet to be announced. We plan to
release more information about the system by the end of the year, which may
include details about the games or the final name of the system. For the latest
information on the Nintendo Revolution, please visit:
http://www.nintendo.com/search?query=revolution&category=news
While more specific information is not currently available, new details will be
posted to our web site at www.nintendo.com when they become available. Stay
tuned!
Its not saying much, but it does say that they will be announcing more info on games, final name of the system, and more by the end of the year! Although I would have loved if they could have answered a few other questions that I asked them. Oh well.

I e-mailed them before about two months back, they responded to me about 10 minutes later. I asked if games for the doomed N64DD peripheral would be available for download, but they said they weren't ready to divulge the info yet.

Lol, interesting story... a freind of mine is a member of our college's videogame developement club...
He mailed letters to Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo... Just asking how much their current generation dev kits cost, thats about all he was asking.
Well, Sony replied, and pretty much said that they wouldn't give/sell dev kits to non-commercial developers... because they "didn't wannt to waste money on them"... or something like that...
Microsoft just never replied... <_<
And Nintendo replied by not just telling them the price... but ALSO sent them 2 FREE GameCube developement kits! worth like thousands of $ each... 2 for free, without even asking for them! ^_^/ Isn't Nintendo awesome?!
My friend then sent Nintendo a fruit basket as thanks... XD
I like Sony... although they tend to be like that in these situations... and Microsoft is even worse... <_<
Its nice to see that at least Nintendo is encuraging amature developers...

I dont remember if I added that it was 2 gamecube dev kits, so I just added that now. lol

Like about 12 hours. I emailed them, and the next day they responded so that is an educated guess. I know this email doesn't say much, but atleast we know they have something planned by the end of the year.

Nintendo is willing to try their best to answer your questions, without releasing to much information if you ask them. They care about their customers very, very much. They know that with the gamecube their fanbase dropped. They want to make their customers feel like they are at home. I am certain they will email you back if you email them.
Good one on the email, btw what did you ask them? lol
Sony encourage amatuer developers as well, they wouldnt have the Linux Development kits or the Net Yaroze.
If you are willing to pay for the big-time kits, and give them good reason to produce a kit for you, then they might consider you.
They'll almost certainly consider you if you produce something they can see as being good, and if its great, might even consider publishing it.
The email things do work, well not so much for MS, i used to email them on things alot, how to make MSN better, MSN Spaces, Hotmail...but they just never ever replied..then it turned to hatred...things i hate about MSN, Hotmail, not so much Spaces, they have Spaces okay, just more features needed, but after awhile i just decided "screw it, they dont reply, no point"
Sony and Nintendo are the people to go to, they reply.
I asked Sony about places they recommend i go to for qualifications they are looking for, and in 3 years i will be going to Paisley Uni to do Game Technology, just now im doing Software Development at James Watt College, 2 years for the HND course, then i can go straight into the degree after that :D
MS are just too 'busy' to reply to their customers, the MSN team are the only ones that really reply, and even then they are pretty crap lol, MSN Spaces Team rock though, they're all cool.

Dear Nintendo,
Firstly, I would like to say, Good Job on the Revolution's controller.
Secondly, there was something I was wondering about. I was wondering how
much it costs to build each controller. It seems that with this new system,
it would cost alot. Could that drive-up the cost of the Nintendo
Revolution?
I was also wondering, will downloadable games cost anything? If I remember
correctly the online system will be free, but will downloading games? Any
clue what the final price of the new system will be yet? Or what the final
name of the console will be?
In conclusion, you guys shocked a lot of people at the Tokyo Game Show with
the Revolution controller. How do you feel people took it? Do you think
they like the idea or this new type of controller, that could possibly
change the way all games are played? I am pretty sure most people seem to
love this idea, new gamers and older gamers.
Thank you for your time,
That my original message, but with my name deleted. I didn't want to be tracked down . I suck at writing letters but atleast they responded, although whoever answered didn't have access to most of the questions I asked. ha.

Ah, so "Revolution" isn't the confirmed name yet then? Interesting....
Nice to see that they aren't just churning out automated responses to e-mails also. Classy, Nintendo, classy indeed.
I think this is why the gaming gods are smiling on Nintendo lately. Nintendo seems to go out of its way to impress gamers. All you have to do is have an open mind and they will treat you right.
Can't wait til they start announcing more Revolution news. In a way, I kind of hope they keep the name Revolution. It has a sweet ring to it.

Well the current incarnation of Ninty seems to make an effort to make gaming more "friendly".
They're certainly not the tyrants they used to be.
