I didn't get details on that.
Well if it is in PC's the only ones I figure will carry it are obviously the Sony Vaio series, or whatever other kind of PC Sony comes up with. As for when, Im not sure...I imagine it could be some time after the release of PS3...but oooh wont it be nice to have a cell chip running your pc.

It probably would mean more powerful PC that make my current one like nothing (and maybe come at lower price).

We won't know when. It will take a while before the "cell" chip will be standard, or whatever form of next-generation computing there'll be in the future...due to the fact that it will make every computer out right now obsolete. You can't just throw away every single piece of hardware out because of new technology, but we may have to. I think some heavy-duty recycling is in order =) It's not just a leap like from Pentium 3 to 4. Now it's more like Pentium 4 to 7. I think in the near future...even the crappiest of crap computers will be blazingly fast, and will be able to run mostly anything.
I remember Sony saying they think that all computers will be linked in some kind of fabricated "cell" architecture/network...or that's what they'd like to see. "All computers connected as one". I'm not particularly fond of this idea...but again...it's just a "vision" from Sony. I have no idea where the article is...if I find it...I'll post it.

Who said I'll be throwing my computers away? I have about 10 year-old computer and I still use it today. Since I have plenty of computers, I can "donate" some of them to people who need them.
Is this what you're talking about?

No...those were just the thoughts bouncing around in my head. What I meant was...eventually, all the computers of today will probably go the way of the 8-track...you may still like using it...but people will think you're a loser ;)
The biggest hurdle to getting the Cell chip in Personal Computers will be the Operating system and software applications that will drive adoption. Sony is working on PC's that run off the Cell Chip and is working with several companies to make an Operating System and applications for it. They have also recently started building Retail Stores (similiar to the Apple and Gateway stores) in part to prepare for the launch of said PC's.
I would like to point out that while the Cell chips design is very powerful in some ways, it lacks power in others. It lacks any advanced instruction sets similiar to the Pentium, AMD, and PowerPC lines of chips.
Also, please be careful of Sony's hype. Anyone who remember's E3 1999 and 2000 will remember all the hype about the Emotion Engine. All of the absolutely beautiful video they showed. One of the best was the face of the Gypsy, I will never forget how good that looked. Yet, we haven't even seen that level of detail in most PC games to date, nevertheless 5 years 5 years ago.

I know what you mean. There are still thousands of applications that aren't taking advantage of the new 64-bit generation of PCs. The transer over to the next-generation of PCs is going to be even more difficult.
And hype sucks...no matter how you look at it =(

Sorry, forgot to link to the screens.
In the COD3 article, I've linked to IGN, which should be sufficient.
