View Full Version : So you want a black 360....
Check this place out guys http://www.colorwarepc.com/
I guess they custom paint everything from Ipod nanos to gamecubes so i am thinking that since they have all 3 consoles they will probably add the xbox 360 pretty soon. LOOKS AWESOME if your willing to fork over 100 bucks for the job.
Hmm, interesting find, anyone here actually try to custom color their Xbox, Ps2, etc? Wondering how it affects the performance of the system. The last thing I would want is a $400+ piece of technology fubar'd by the Black and Neon blue paint I had put on it lol. If its quality work, then sure, $100 extra bucks for a better colored version of my favorite systems would be off the chizzain!

I didn't know a site like this was out. I would have done something like this a long time ago. :D
Go test it out CK, and tell us if there are any adverse side affects of custom painting your PS2. 8)

This could be an easy way to get a glossy black PS3, sicne Sony is only releasing it in silver (for now).
Yup Chris, but would you trust your PS3 to these guys without more credible backup from people that have already tried the service and liked it? As tempting as it may sound, I might have to live with my silver PS3 cause im a bit sketchy on if this custom paint job would somehow damage my PS3 or X360, not to mention if it either system does break down, does the warrenty on my systems cover the damage caused by such a service? I doubt it.

That's true, and I probably wouldn't pay $100 for it, cuz the silver PS3 looks pretty good, but if I had a choice then I'd go for black :D . I wouldn't do it if it voids the waranty, because I can't afford to replace a PS3, at least not for awhile. Hopefully Sony will release White and Black PS3s sometime after launch, or seperate colours for the different SKU's (silver for the console, white for the workstation, black for the PSX or something like that).
Well, I know for you that money is in short supply, so if this site does prove to be credible, I think you should go for it, I know I am, ill prolly go test it out on my Old PS2 to see if it has any sort of adverse affects on it. But wouldn't $100 for a gloss black PS3 be better then buying a $400-500 dollar black PS3 again?...

Well in some ways yes, but $100 is alot of money, especially since I need every dime I can get if I have any hopes of buying a PS3 and Revolution on their respective launch dates, but if I get enough cash sometime later on then I would definitely consider this, as long as it proves to be legit.

Here's the best Black Xbox 360 I've seen on the net. It's a photoshop job.... but ooooooooooooooh so nice. I want this so bad!!!!!! Please Microsoft! Make it so! That green ring of light against the black really stands out! And the chrome parts look sweet too! 8)

thanks i kinda screwd my jewel mod up but im going to get another xbox and clear case to mess with. There is so many nice case mods out there mine is so junky in comparisin but thanks. :D
Alot of people said they prefer the white X360 compaired to the black X360, wtf are they thinking? That black X360 looks damn hot even if that is a photoshop job. MS wake up, you should have made 2 different color SKU's not a core or premium pack. :cuss

The Xbox360 was designed from day one to come out in completely different colors. This is just for launch systems and makes it easier to pump them out in mass by keeping it all one color.
The 2 SKUs doesn't impact the main system hardware. Nothing extra is placed internally for the premium SKU.
Expect to see colored systems withing 1 - 2 years. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a black one at some point.

Black will probably be the first color to come out, as it seems to be the most popular.
That photo-chop of the black 360 still looks nice, would kinda fit in with my 'black' Vectrex, SC-3000H, Nomad, Saturn, PS2, xbox, Gamecube, Trinitron

Right, within 1 or 2 years, after I had already bought my X360 and PS3 in their respective launch colors :cuss
I don't think MS or Sony have a equal exchange program for a different color lol.

I totally feel the same way, why not go all out with the customisation aspect straight off the bat MS?
Plus the Darth Vader evilness of that black kit is irresistable  ...tries to resist the dark side...but its just too strong LOL
White is a much better color for any console, MS and Sony both made good choices by stepping away from the black.

I've painted consoles before for people... (was a professional car-model painter... well, not pro, but good enough ) most important thing to remember is masking... especially if you don't gut it...
If you don't have access to a real auto-paintors gun... get the Testor's Air-Brush kit... and go crazy... i've done that so many times... Canary Yellow... no prob... Emerald green? check... Midnight-Blue.... been there... Candy-Apple Red... you better believe it... and it was sweet!!!
If you don't go with the Air-Brush, you'd be suprised what you can do with those Transparent Hue spray cans that Testor makes as well... those are all Candies and stuff... or their Boyd's line, mainly pearls...
just, if your warranty is good on your console, more than likely, it won't be after that... haha...

sure... taking masking tape, plastic/paper to cover off the spots where you don't want the spray to get into the system, potentially causing damage... like, direct, or over-spray through the vents onto the circuit-boards, or, it getting onto the lens or it's motors... or, stuff you want to stay there, like the lil' decals for power or whatever... just take an "exacto-knife" (testors makes this as well) and run it just outside, and along the taped sections, over the paint, so when you pull the tape off, you get nice even lines...
to be honest... if you trust yourself to gut you case, that's the best way to do it... as a shell... it's not hard to remove that stuff, or place it back... if you can play with adding ram, motherboards, drives, and graphics cards to a PC, you can easily do this to a console... hell, even i can do it... lol
