One thing you can do is check Linksys for a firmware update...
Taken from Wikipedia:
"Known issues As shipped, the Linksys firmware crashes under heavy peer-to-peer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peer-to-peer) network traffic, such as BitTorrent (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BitTorrent). The reason for this crash is that Linux's (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux) connection tracking (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netfilter) by default keeps track of old connections for five days. This five day limit quickly overwhelms the router when there are a high number of network connections, such as with BitTorrent, and can only be resolved by power cycling the router. For a detailed tutorial on how to permanently fix this issue on a pre-v5 router see the uTorrent FAQ. Briefly, it involves installing a 3rd party firmware.
Earlier versions of the Linksys firmware (<4.50.00) have a bug that causes interaction problems between players in World of Warcraft.
Some unconfirmed reports have also been made that users cannot use VPN, specifically PPTP connections, through the new version 5 router. The best guess is that the router does not support protocol 47 (GRE) even though Linksys claims VPN pass-through support on the box.
The v6 firmware revision 1.01.0 introduced a problem where the QoS page requires a valid manual upstream bandwidth value even if the upstream bandwidth is set to Auto.
"
So it seems to crash after alot of bandwidth. But check for a update to your routers firmware.

Never buy Linksys... why do people and companies think they make great routers.... Ill take a D-Link over Linksys but I prefer NetGear. They have the best brand of routers made.

http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=psnetwork&thread.id=22245
Also, I know that your error number is different, but I have gotten a few PMs (on PS site) from people with your error number and they said the fix worked.
Best of luck.
Thank you, i will try that out.
so i put in

yeah zaldin the thread pirate  dont hijack this dudes thread. :)
this happens to my buddy all the time too... best i can say atm is just turn off your ps3, reset your modem, and turn your ps3 back on. This shouldn't be happening though, and could just be a problem with the style of modem you have. I had another friend that disconnected everyone in the room when he used the bullseye. The devs from insomniac determined it was his router.

Sorry for the really late response, but in case you haven't gotten it working yet - try it in your PS3 setup first. If that doesn't work, then set the PS3 to automatic and put those DNS values in your router's set-up.

I have a list of all the PS3 / PSN Error Codes and what they mean...
Once my membership is upgraded so I can Post New Threads then I will start a new one which will hopefully be pinned for everyone who's got connection issues.

hey guys, im karim i live in the UAE. this problem has been goin on since i got the ps3 before the summer vacation. basically for the first month or so it worked perfectly and i laughed at the xbox live users cuz they had to pay for good internet and we dont but lik 3 months later i just plain and simply could not sign in to the playstation network, after about 2 months of tryin i decided to actually email the sony reps and after that it "miraculously" worked and i could play skate and stuff online with my mates. and about a week later it happned agen... the same F****** error 80710092. and up until now it still doesnt work.. thanks lionel_hutz for the help man i tried and it actually worked for like a minute or suthing then i got signed out agen lol and it wont let me sign in, i have a speedstream router btw, assuming router is that thing that u plug into the wall and got those lights at the front to say whether ur online and got that little antenna thing lol.
Hi, I've been having this problem too...(live in the UAE as well)... I have a Linksys WRT54GS wireless router. So far I've:
- tried unplugging and re-plugging the modem
- unplugging and replugging the router
- upgraded router to latest firmware
- tried using a wired connection
- tried OpenDNS servers with both wired and unwired connections
In all of the above cases, the Internet connection test works fine but when I try going on to the PSN , it gives me the 80710092 error! :(
so are there any other fixes for this?
thanks
I kept getting this error the other day while I was playing DMC4 demo. I was using a wired connection so it wasn't any problems with WiFi. It was weird though because the internet would do just fine while I played other games and even while I was playing COD4 online.
I have been getting this ****ing error message for more than a month. ****ing annoying! Will you give me email address to network support, because for some ****ing reasons the one that I have in my original sign up email from sony cannot be ****ing delivered some ****ing DNS problem.

Netgear? are you kidding me? I have a replaced WRN854T Pre-N and whenever I have to sign onto the PSN I have to reboot it over and over. Its a major pain. Oh and their tech support sucks.
Wow, i remember this thread.
I just put some custom firmware on my router and opened some more ports
Everything is fine

I have a NetGear G+ MIMO and if you check these routers are all ready configured for online gaming. I used to have a belkin but that was a bag of s**t. This has never given me any problems. Also go here for DNS issues http://opendns.com and follow there instructions for opening up your DNS which is what signs most gamers out of the PSN. Hope this helps.
I don't like D-Link.
I've set-up loads of home networks (mostly wireless, although personally I prefer wired, cutting wires and laying it under carpets is easy and the added speed / security is priceless) and invariably people buy D-Link as they are cheap and well advertised.
I've always found that the basic (cheaper) models lack features I would want (restricting packets / ports to certain IPs was one I didn't have on the first D-Link I bought and quickly replaced), also I've found a fair few that had DNS issues, whereby if the Internet was not used for 1-2 hours you'd have to refresh the local area connection and often reboot the router. This was not fixable by settings, and only a firmware update seemed to resolve it.
Personally I like Netgear, they are robust, and have all the features you could ever want. Someone above mentioned the tech support is rubbish, and while this may appear arrogant / elitist, I would never need to call them so that would not bother me.
The best router I ever had was back before Broadband was available in the UK over BT lines. Back when it was only available in Hull as they own their own phone lines and are separate from BT. Back then if you bought a router it was assumed that you knew exactly what it did and was capable of, so there was no easy option, no restrictions / etc. Command line setup was available via telnet and other lovelies.
Anyway back to the post at hand, what connection strength does your PS3 receive over the wireless connection?
If it's low then try this out:
http://technetz.com/index.php/2008/05/03/how-to-make-wifi-signal-booster-diy/
I have one on mine and it improved the quality by 20%.
Edit: I'll just clarify, I mean after using it the PS3 connection was +20% from how it was previously rather than it was 20% better.

I did a network test and it found my ip address and says i have an internet connection just that i cant sign into playstation network. Why wouldn't that error be coming from playstation not an issue from my computer?
