Never no love for the steelers.

****. My bad. You are right. They have looked strong.

Kudos to your defensive line of last year. They got you through the playoffs and the Bowl. It was quite pleasureable to see Brady get knocked around though. (even though now I feel bad for the guy)

Yep, thanks. We did build up one hell of a D-Line... along with the rest of the team.

I agree completely about Brady.

The Cowboys will be dominating once their secondary gets healthier and they can stop playing this soft zone crap they are playing. Start manning up, play bump and run press, turn Demarcus Ware loose after the QB, bring some different blitz's = domination. Everyone knows the offensive firepower is there.

They should still be destroying now if they are actually as good as they say they are missing terrence newman but they have adam jones

and they are missing roy williams but we all know that roy williams is a horrible coverage safety he is just a big hitter

Lol. Adam Jones still has some rust to shake. Roy Williams to me isnt a safety and I wish they would replace him back there. He is more like a linebacker but not a coverage guy. @efs, come talk to me when Philly finally beats them.

Dallas = 2=0
Philly = 1-1

any questions?

Lol. Adam Jones still has some rust to shake

In all honesty, the only reason he's rusty is because he put himself through it. The people do target him but as a pro he has a conduct code he has to follow so he can't let any jackass influence him to jeopardize his career.

Cowboys however are supposedly "America's Team" and SB favorite. With that said, the pressure is on them to perform regardless of the situation they're in. They're in a much better situation than the Colts & I like the colts

sure do:) Who's your pick?

As for rivers putting up a big score game, I think it very well could happen. SD needs a win here and they know it. SD D isn't looking too good so bad D = good O :) Yeah its always not that simple but I think we are gunna see a good QB match. (Hopefully the jets run the ball in the red zone again in wk3, favre might try to be a hero on MNF and prove he can be a great QB on any team)

So I'm expecting a high score game

I don't really have a pick. I am an Eagles fan... well more of a Mcnabb fan. So I guess that would be my pick. I was just sort of surprised that you thought Indy has looked the best. I mean the Chicago loss to me was pretty ugly and Manning to Harrison just doesn't look as good as it used to. Although Gonzalez is stepping up and I was real impressed with that lateral in the Minny game. I'm sure things'll start looking up once they get their center back. Nevertheless, I've been more impressed with teams other than the Colts. I know you probably don't want to hear it, but Carolina comes to mind :o

I didn't catch wk1 of the eagles but wk2 was great, they really should have won IMO, DAL just got lucky:) Mcnabb made some great plays. I'm looking forward to wk3 against PIT should be a great game

BTW who has sunday ticket? I am free on the weekends so I will wait for the short cuts and watch each game induvidually. I absolutely hate how they have score tickers for the other games going on!! I have to cover them so I dont sneak a peak.
I just got directv so I haven't tried the Redzone channel yet, do they cover the games good?

I have the Sunday ticket. I've been using it for years. It keeps great track of every game going on in the league, plus it helps alot to all those fantasy football owners. It's definately worth the price.

I have been a Cowboys fan for 25 years. JerryJ reminds me of Steinbrenner to much. I dont even like the fact they signed Pman Jones because the guy is a thug. I hung out with him several times at WVU and knew him on a personal level, trust me when I say he is a thug. Dallas drafted a guy named Mike Jenkins who should be an excellent corner in this league for years to come. Plus I dont like the image that pacman brings.

wouldn't even have to be stellar.

hold opposing teams under 20 points a game and we could win...

a mediocre defense would do the trick.

I mean... the offense gives me a hard-on
and then the defense takes the field and I go flaccid...

this happens with every possession... it can't be healthy...

Oh whoa is me :( This is going to be a long, long season. The two worst teams in football from the state of Missouri.

I just saw more evidence of why TO is the best receiver in the game. He busted his butt getting downfield to block for Felix Jones on that TD run.

Denver continues to lead a charmed life...reminds me of KC a few years ago just outscoring everyone but it doesn't translate to playoff wins. A win by a bad rule and a win by a missed FG.

Very impressed by Miami pulling out that win...good for them.

To your credit your team has the biggest (or second biggest O-Line) in the NFL. It also doesn't help when you're on the field for most of the game. Cowboys defense was good and forced 3 & out towards the end. Should've been worse my *** cowboys weren't that spectacular. @Sith I meant it was a close game until towards the end of the 3rd quarter. T.O. Was shut down completely even without Al Harris in and Charles Woodson playing with a broken toe. Witten is just plain nasty and he's a qb's best friend when you can dump a pass off to avoid pressure. I give him his credit but it wasn't an extravagant game like you claim. Tony Romo did get sack. Kampman and Jenkins had 1.5 sacks.

I dont think the Colts have to worry, i mean they lost by a 50 yrd FG,

Of course its demoralizing to lose by a FG but hey they were in it the whole game, they will work out the kinks and get stronger toward the end of season.

The colts offense use to dish out 34 points easily all the time, maybe opposing teams have finally adapted to their offense, maybe they gotta try some new things.

How about the famous crying from last year sticking up for his QB? He's a competitor that is the best WR in the game right now in my opinion. Of course he wants the ball, every skill position player out there wants the ball. He has a massive ego but he works hard and backs it up on the field. Not arguing your post, but just wanted to bring up a running joke...

When he cried in defense of Romo, he actually threw Romo under the bus. It was noted that no one said anything about it being Romo's fault. He just cam out with the Romo didn't **** it up with the vacation... balh blah

They just said... how tough is this loss for Tony.

I will give him credit for giving the Giants credit though. :D

T.O. n ROMO

OMG, I forgot how pathetically embarrassing this is...

T.O. Threw Rom-o Under The Bus-o! (http://www.nflgridirongab.com/2008/07/31/to-threw-rom-o-under-the-bus-o/)

http://msnbcmedia3.msn.com/j/msnbc/Components/Photos/061101/061101_romo_hmed_5p.hmedium.jpg
ESPN via NFL Live and NFL First Take, tells us that the relationship between Dallas Cowboy’s Wide-Out, T.O. and Quarterback, Tony Romo is “very special.” Then, they cut to T.O. and Romo who confirm their “very special” relationship. And when I see that, I can’t help but remember some awfully vivid images from the 2007 Divisional Playoff game in Dallas.
One image is Romo’s 4th Quarter meltdown: screaming at his offensive line, unintentionally grounding the ball, getting penalized, getting sacked because he held the ball too long and then throwing an errant pass to a wide open T.O. that could have won the game. Another image is Jerry Jones, on the sidelines in shocked skeletal, disbelief when the Cowboys come up short. But, by far, the most lasting image is of T.O. bursting into tears after the game — allegedly trying to protect his “very special” quarterback friend from the press. Is that what he was really doing? Protecting Romo?
Just re-watched the game and post game. There’s T.O. telling the press, “We lost the game as a team,” as tears stream down his cheeks. “If you blame the quarterback, it’s so unfair,” he says –intentionally or unintentionally — reminding the press about Romo’s terrible 4th quarter and his controversial vacation with Jessica Simpson. “He’s my quarterback,” T.O. says, his voice choked with emotion. But, guess what. This whole diatribe comes at a point when NOBODY ELSE HAS EVEN MENTIONED TONY ROMO’S NAME! Why do that?
If you recorded the game and post game, I urge you to watch it again. You’ll see and hear that NO ONE ASKED T.O. ABOUT TONY ROMO! No one even mentioned Romo’s name. Why suddenly inject it into the conversation unless he wanted to shift the glare of the spotlight off him and onto his “very special” quarterback friend? Isn’t that a really sneaky, underhanded way of throwing Romo under the bus? Is that the “very special” relationship ESPN is telling us about? Yeah, right! With “very special” relationships like that, who needs enemies?

That article is wrong because they did ask how tough a loss it was for Romo, but that point still stands and it's funny.

I'm glad Marshall and others are owning that chump. He comes out of nowhere and snags some int's and puts down some nice returns with those and all of a sudden he's the next great thing at corner? The guy was a nickleback beginning of last year. Then he comes out and says he's going to break the NFL interception record?

Haha, come to think of it, he might actually do that since people are going to be throwing on him so much. The law of averages indicates he might be right.

WILLIAM CLAY FORD JR ADDS VOICE TO (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/09/22/william-clay-ford-jr-adds-voice-to-fire-millen-movement/)

“FIRE MILLEN” MOVEMENT (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/09/22/william-clay-ford-jr-adds-voice-to-fire-millen-movement/)

Posted by Michael David Smith on September 22, 2008, 3:10 p.m. EDT
Through seven-plus years of futility, Detroit Lions (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/09/22/william-clay-ford-jr-adds-voice-to-fire-millen-movement/#) owner William Clay Ford Sr. has inexplicably stood behind his team president, Matt Millen.
It’s now reached the point where even Ford’s own son is publicly questioning his father.
Asked today what he thought of the way the Lions played yesterday at San Francisco, William Clay Ford Jr. said, “It was an embarrassment, the fans deserve better, and if I had the authority, I would have fired the general manager (http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080922/SPORTS01/80922052/1048/sports).”
When asked again, directly, if he would fire Millen, Ford Jr. said, “Yes, but I don’t have that authority.”
And that’s the bottom line: Ford Jr. doesn’t have that authority, and as long as Ford Sr. is alive, Millen’s job appears to be safe.
Wow... pretty bad.

RODNEY HARRISON CALLS RICKY WILLIAMS BLOCK DIRTY (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/09/22/rodney-harrison-calls-ricky-williams-block-dirty/)

Posted by Michael David Smith on September 22, 2008, 4:12 p.m. EDT
Pot, meet kettle: Patriots safety Rodney Harrison is criticizing Dolphins running back Ricky Williams for what Harrison says was a dirty play Sunday.
On the first play of the fourth quarter, Ronnie Brown scored on a 62-yards run. Running downfield trailing the play, Williams dove at the legs of Patriots linebacker Mike Vrabel. Williams was flagged for a personal foul on the play, and Vrabel got a personal foul for retaliating. The officials ruled that the infractions happened after Brown scored the touchdown, so the offsetting penalties didn’t affect the play.
Harrison was asked after the game if he thought it was a dirty play on Williams’ part, and he answered, “Of course it was. Of course it was. There’s no place in the game for that (http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/football/pro/dolphins/sfl-harrison0921,0,4852363.story?track=rss).”
Some would argue that there’s no place in the game for a lot of what Harrison does. In July a poll of NFL (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/09/22/rodney-harrison-calls-ricky-williams-block-dirty/#) coaches revealed that they overwhelmingly believe Harrison is the dirtiest player in the league (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/07/01/coaches-call-rodney-harrison-dirtiest-player/).
For Williams’ part, he said, “A lot of defensive guys don’t like it when you go at their legs. I can understand that. … If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn’t have done it because I can understand why he was upset. I was caught up in the play and just trying to help . I wasn’t trying to hurt anybody (http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/articles/2008/09/22/reading_receivers_moves/).”
Even more lulz..

[B]COACHES CALL RODNEY HARRISON DIRTIEST PLAYER (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/07/01/coaches-call-rodney-harrison-dirtiest-player/)

Posted by Michael David Smith on July 1, 2008, 1:22 p.m. EDT
In an effort to find out who’s the dirtiest player in the NFL (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/07/01/coaches-call-rodney-harrison-dirtiest-player/#), ESPN.com surveyed head coaches and asked them to name just one player who’s the dirtiest of them all.
Of the 17 coaches who supplied an answer, 11 of them chose Patriots safety Rodney Harrison (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/story?columnist=sando_mike&id=3439800).
The coaches answered anonymously and didn’t explain their answers, but this is obviously no surprise, as Harrison has a reputation for taking cheap shots.
However, ESPN.com’s Mike Sando reports that there’s one NFL player who has more personal foul penalties than Harrison over the last seven seasons: Cardinals safety Adrian Wilson, with 17. Wilson didn’t get a single vote for dirtiest player, and neither did Saints defensive end Will Smith (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/07/01/coaches-call-rodney-harrison-dirtiest-player/#), who is tied with Harrison for the second-most personal fouls (14) in the NFL since 2001.
Cowboys safety Roy Williams got two votes for league’s dirtiest player, and Giants linebacker Antonio Pierce, Steelers (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/07/01/coaches-call-rodney-harrison-dirtiest-player/#) receiver Hines Ward, Titans center Kevin Mawae and Bears center Olin Kreutz each got one.

Detroit confuses the hell out of me. They have frickin Roy Williams and Calvin Johnson, yet they choose to run first with Rudi Johnson, (not their draft pick Kevin Smith mind you, Rudi flippin Johnson) who the Bengals didn't even want. It boggles the mind how they're so committed to the run... and by the time they figure out it's time to pass, they're down 20 with 5 minutes left in the 4th.

Harris tested amid report of ruptured spleen

By CHRIS JENKINS, AP Sports Writer 2 hours, 49 minutes ago

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP)—Green Bay Packers (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/gnb/;_ylt=AoNrmy3nopNTso3lW7aAb_AdsLYF) cornerback Al Harris (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/4609/;_ylt=Aoc8iDKqZrT_VyZw3mpz6lUdsLYF) underwent additional medical tests Monday amid a report he might have ruptured his spleen in Sunday’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/dal/;_ylt=AkbkbU5Spl3JeuicNXE.5JkdsLYF).

The National Football Post, a Web site that lists Harris’ agent as a contributor, reported that the injury could end Harris’ season, but Harris was seeking a second opinion. Agent Jack Bechta did not immediately return a message from The Associated Press.

Earlier in the day, Packers coach Mike McCarthy said the team’s medical staff was “just doing scans” on Harris and were “checking for everything.” A team spokesman said no additional information was available.
Harris left Sunday night’s game with 6:51 left in the first quarter after he collided with Packers linebacker A.J. Hawk (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/7754/;_ylt=Ar2ek3goyE_6zEhDAYWjIC0dsLYF). Harris returned two plays later.

http://us.bc.yahoo.com/b?P=8cAKyEwNdHGqDXCYSMmyuwBJRO3c9EjYQmgAC4sL&T=14usf6lkv%2fX%3d1222132328%2fE%3d95858717%2fR%3d sports%2fK%3d5%2fV%3d2.1%2fW%3dH%2fY%3dYAHOO%2fF%3 d694158210%2fH%3dY29udGVudD0ibGVhZ3VlPW5mbA--%2fQ%3d-1%2fS%3d1%2fJ%3dB9750D4C&U=13epj0gi3%2fN%3dDJuVCEPDoHo-%2fC%3d674272.12804537.13083462.1323516%2fD%3dSKY% 2fB%3d5404999%2fV%3d1
But Harris had to leave again later in the series after tackling Cowboys running back Marion Barber (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/7285/;_ylt=AqxNDB8iZJTAFxGnVTuEvUodsLYF)—and this time, he didn’t return. Harris went to the Packers’ locker room in the second quarter with what team officials described as cramping.

McCarthy said after the game that Harris had blood in his urine and was not allowed to return by the team’s medical staff.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/tam/;_ylt=AlbSYYdlqQcCM1_HTg.UdGodsLYF) quarterback Chris Simms (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/6433/;_ylt=Ao5wT_rgej9ptEp80bPQPUkdsLYF) ruptured his spleen in a game against the Carolina Panthers (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/car/;_ylt=AjfeV4N95yrB35hlTLSZBaodsLYF) in 2006 and had an emergency procedure to have it removed. He missed the rest of the season and returned in 2007, but was inactive for the first five games before being placed on injured reserve.

The Buccaneers cut Simms in August, and he signed with Tennessee in September. Simms has yet to play in three games for the Titans this season.

The loss of Harris would be a difficult blow to the Packers’ defense. Harris, who specializes in the aggressive style of bump-and-run coverage favored by Packers coaches, went to his first Pro Bowl last season.
Despite both being over the age of 30, he and Charles Woodson (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/4271/;_ylt=AtLyOzDa2NCH6xBQ82f0uWYdsLYF) form one of the NFL’s most formidable cornerback tandems. Woodson was effective against Cowboys receiver Terrell Owens (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/3664/;_ylt=Ag1yjhZX88dmRLrDI8mUzvIdsLYF) on Sunday, but the Packers had a hard time containing the rest of the Cowboys’ offense without Harris on the field.

“Anytime you lose guys, it’s hard, but you expect other guys to step up,” Packers defensive coordinator Bob Sanders (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/6803/;_ylt=Ag7kHCq_QVO_k4DdUYj9yWkdsLYF) said after Sunday’s game. “But certainly losing Al, a guy of that caliber, that hurts. Anytime you lose a guy like that, it’s not good.”

And Harris isn’t the only member of the secondary who’s hurting.
Already missing strong safety Atari Bigby (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/7593/;_ylt=AsQygLMk7fI5ikimwyA3PqUdsLYF) because of a hamstring injury, the Packers also had to handle a back injury to fellow safety Nick Collins (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/7227/;_ylt=AoY_pwMICij.VXmlt6oawdQdsLYF) during Sunday night’s game.

And Woodson continues to play through a broken toe, toughing it out on game days but skipping most or all of practice during the week. Woodson said Sunday night that his toe was “hurtin’,” and that the Packers faced a difficult week with so many injuries in the secondary.

“It’s a tough week, but this is what we’re paid to do,” Woodson said. “Regardless of injuries and what hurts on the guys, you’ve got to get it right to get ready for next week.”

McCarthy said Collins has a lower back contusion, but did not provide a timeframe for his return. And he didn’t seem certain Bigby would be back this week.

“I don’t know,” McCarthy said. “You know how hamstrings are. It’s different with all of them. You can scan them, you can look at them, and get all of the information. Every one of them is different, so we’ll see how he responds. He’s been a quick healer in the past, so hopefully.”

Yea, right.

The first 14 points were scored of an Int return for a TD and a Kickoff return to the 4 yard line. Neither of which have anything to do with the D. The rest of the points were scored in the 4th after the Jets were being crushed 38-14.

Per Glazer, Burress failed to show up for work on Monday, and he failed to respond by calls from the team aimed at obtaining an explanation for his unexcused absense.
It’s a two-week suspension, but since the Giants are off on Sunday he’ll only miss one game, against the Seahawks.
Burress was a key component of last year’s Super Bowl run, and he played most of the season with a torn ligament in his ankle before catching the game-winning touchdown pass in Super Bowl XLII. He received a new contract in the hours before the regular-season opener against the Redskins (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/09/24/giants-suspend-plaxico/#).
He is scheduled to meet with team officials on Wednesday morning to explain himself.
Stay tuned.

Theft - What's up with the Pats fans booing the Pats last game. I don't care how bad the loss. God damn they are spoiled.

I don't really expect an answer.

All I can is it's pretty classless to boo your team, yes you can be mad that they lost or are not playing that well but never boo your team. Yes they played like crap but my positive way of thinking is maybe they just got their stinker game out of the way and this will remind them that they can be beaten so they will try harder.

MILLEN IS OUT! (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/09/24/millen-is-out/)

Posted by Mike Florio on September 24, 2008, 10:02 a.m. EDT
Less than an hour ago, yours truly told the Sports (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/09/24/millen-is-out/#) Junkies on WJFK radio in D.C. that Matt Millen will continue to run the Detroit Lions for as long as William Clay Ford Sr. owns the team.
And, to no surprise, Millen has been fired. Jay Glazer of FOX reports that Millen is out.
Per Glazer, the decision came on Tuesday night. It’s unclear whether Millen resigned or was fired. The timing of the move, coming a day after Bill Ford Jr. said that he’d fire Millen if he could makes us think that Millen might have decided to move on.
Millen, who previously was a game analyst for FOX, became the president and G.M. of the team in 2001. The team generated a woeful record of 31-84 during seven-plus seasons.

New York Giants QB Eli Manning gets the whole ball of wax at Madame Tussauds

by Jenny Vrentas (jvrentas@starledger.com)/The Star-Ledger Tuesday September 23, 2008, 6:23 PM

http://blog.nj.com/giants_impact/2008/09/medium_Picture%20337.jpg (http://blog.nj.com/giants_impact/2008/09/Picture%20337.jpg)Jenny Vrentas/The Star-LedgerEli Manning poses with his wax figure. The real Eli is on the left.
NEW YORK -- At 5 p.m. Tuesday, in front of Madame Tussauds on 42nd street, a black curtain was dropped to reveal Giants quarterback Eli Manning and his 6-foot-4 wax replica.
Standing in the same pose as his figure -- with a football resting on his right thigh -- Manning politely smiled for spectators and TV cameras as he became the first Giants player to have a likeness in the wax museum.
"Obviously, when we talk about what figures to make, he's on the top of any list of that sort," said Amanita Duga-Carroll, a spokesperson for Madame Tussauds. "You can't get a bigger New York hero."
Manning's sitting took more than an hour, as Madame Tussauds' studio artists took hundreds of photographs and precise measurements to accurately sculpt his likeness. The figure, which has Manning dressed in a Giants uniform that he donated, then took months to create. Each hair strand was individually inserted.
Manning was whisked onto the platform with the figure before the unveiling, along with six young Giants fans, then was escorted off the same way he came, so he didn't stop to talk to reporters. But Duga-Carroll said when he first saw the figure, just before the unveiling, he said, "It's amazing."
"Really, it's a great accomplishment," Duga-Carroll said. "It doesn't happen to everyone."

How Wrong Is It to Hope the Owner of Your Favorite NFL Team Dies?

http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/nfl.fanhouse.com/media/2008/09/mike-brown-fbn180-092308.jpgSo, I'm driving around running some errands and decide to listen to the local sports talk radio (http://www.1530homer.com/main.html). I live in Cincinnati now, so most of the talk is pretty bad. Fans are tired of talking about all the little reasons why the Bengals are bad. The main reason is something that cannot be fixed: owner Mike Brown (http://nfl.fanhouse.com/tag/MikeBrown/).

Brown is one of those cheap owners who inherited his organization (from his legend of a father) but doesn't know how to organize it. The story keeps on going, but it just ends with him being a bad owner (just one winning season in the 16 full seasons he has owned the team). Even his Wikipedia page (http://wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Brown_%28football_team_owner) says he is one of the worst owners in professional sports.

On the radio today, they were discussing the sad fact that fans would actually be cheering Mike Brown dying and the team being run by someone else. What? You'd cheer a man's death just so your football team can be better?

It happens. Remember how fans booed during a moment of silence for Chicago Blackhawks owner Bill Wirtz a year ago (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=3036711)? Wirtz was very unpopular and fans viewed his death as a great moment for their hockey club.It isn't just Cincinnati fans that have been saying this. There is that thick sense that Oakland Raider fans are just waiting for the day owner Al Davis (http://nfl.fanhouse.com/tag/AlDavis/) finally kicks it and the team can be normal again. Davis has been a maverick in professional football and one of the most influential people in the sport. However, he has been running his franchise into the ground during his advanced age.

There has been the same sorts of thoughts for Bills owner Ralph Wilson (http://nfl.fanhouse.com/tag/RalphWilson/) (who cries about lack of revenue streams for his franchise but instead of selling stadium naming rights he named the stadium after himself), Cardinals owner Bill Bidwell (http://nfl.fanhouse.com/tag/BillBidwell/), Lions owner William Clay Ford (http://nfl.fanhouse.com/tag/WilliamClayFord/), Saints owner Tom Benson (http://nfl.fanhouse.com/tag/TomBenson/) and ... well the fact that there is a list is amazing.

It covers all sports, too. But is it a shame that fans need to wait for a man's death before their favorite team's fortunes turn? If/when it does happen, should fans have the freedom to boo that man as they are paying respects ... similar to what Blackhawks fans did to Wirtz?

I mean, most people don't really want someone to die ... but when the commissioners of these leagues are powerless to step in, that's what many fans hang their hat on. Right or wrong, there will be fans who celebrate the day that a incompetent owner passes away.

Lethalmind

Buccaneers kicker Bryant's infant son passes away

TAMPA, Fla. -- The infant son of Tampa Bay Buccaneers (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=tam) kicker Matt Bryant (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=4333) died Wednesday morning, coach Jon Gruden said.
Matthew Tryson Bryant apparently died in his sleep, Gruden said. The coach said he did not know any further details. The child was born June 16.

"We're shocked and very saddened by this," Gruden said.
Gruden said he was unsure if Bryant will play in Sunday's game against Green Bay, and that the situation would be addressed later in the week.

"The entire Buccaneer family is deeply saddened by this tragedy. The Bryants have been an inspiration to our entire community through their commitment to their family and their exhaustive efforts working with children and those in need in the Bay area," Buccaneers general manager

Bruce Allen said in a statement. "Our thoughts and prayers are with Matt and Melissa during this difficult time.''

-"Uh, ok. We gotta look at the tape, and we'lll get back to you on that situation. For now, I'll just try and get my ex-tampa bay backups to start for this team. We need to, um, pound the rock and stuff. Uh, we gotta look at the, um, tape. This team is moving in the right direction, and I tell it to this guys every day. Hmm, I've come to this conclusion.

Bench Jon Kitna, see what you got out'a Drew Stanton and Dan "Ithrowinterceptionsonscreenpasses" Orlowski. If they fail this year, than we can just pick up a QB in the draft. But we really need some O/D Line. We need to trade Roy"Ican'tcatchaball"Williams for a first rounder, and get some help on either than O/D Line on QB position(s).

Lethalmind
09-24-2008, 23:39
It's a mess and I can see you venting but Jon Kitna? He only throws so many damn picks because he's forced to pass. Plus he's old. I do agree with the Dreew Stanton thing but I'm not sure if he'll be a legitimate NFL QB

Blu-Ray
09-24-2008, 23:46
Jon Kitna can sometimes be an alright quaterback, but he just blows up way too much @ the coaches to be considered a leader. In my honest opinion, I think that he is the second-biggest reason all the Lions' players morales are really low. The Medical Staff tried to help him on sunday and he swung his arm at them and basically told them to scram! Then the week before that, after his THRID INT (he gave up on the game), he walked off the field while the play with still going on. And in the week before that, he screamed at the coaches, then procedded to throw ANOTHER INT after all the **** he just pulled off. Then, in that Green Bay Game, he had OPEN FIELD on a 3rd down play and slide 1 foot below the first down line! Then, in the Atlanta game, he could have easily ran into the endzone (seriously, he was like 3 yrds away!), but instead, he throws it over the TE's head!!!!!!!! Leaders can't make mental errors like that. Sorry. I am tired of defending Mr.Kitna.

Anyone care to see who can pick em the best (Bold your picks)?

My Picks:
SUN, SEP 28
Minnesota at Tennessee
Denver at Kansas City
San Francisco at New Orleans
Arizona at NY Jets
Green Bay at Tampa Bay
Atlanta at Carolina
Houston at Jacksonville
Cleveland at Cincinnati
San Diego at Oakland
Buffalo at St. Louis
Washington at Dallas
Philadelphia at Chicago

MON, SEP 29
Baltimore at Pittsburgh

Reasons for some picks:
-I tend to favor the home team in a close match up
-New Orleans can't run the ball and SF can
-Flacco(BAL QB) will turn it over and lead to the only score

Baltimore vs Pittsburgh is the one I had the hardest with because of injuries, Steeler's O-line troubles, and a Ravens rookie QB.

NO ROSTER EXEMPTION FOR BRYANT (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/09/26/no-roster-exemption-for-bryant/)

Posted by Mike Florio on September 26, 2008, 1:55 p.m. EDT
Bucs kicker Matt Bryant’s infant son died this week, and it’s unclear whether Bryant will play on Sunday when Tampa Bay hosts the Packers (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/09/26/no-roster-exemption-for-bryant/#).
If he doesn’t play, the Bucs won’t receive a roster exemption (http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080926/SPORTS03/809260433/1058/SPORTS03), according to Chris Harry of the Orlando Sentinel.
And so, if Bryant doesn’t play, the Bucs will have to acquire another kicker, cut a player already on the team, and deactivate Bryant for the Green Bay game.
In our view, the league’s position on this indirectly puts unfair pressure on Bryant to play, since he’ll understandably feel guilty if he gets a game check for not working while one of his teammates gets canned.
As Harry points out, teams get roster exemptions for players who are suspended. The same approach should apply when a player has undergone a personal tragedy like a death in his immediate family.

MENDENHALL TALKS TRASH IN TEXT (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/09/26/mendenhall-talks-trash-in-text/)

Posted by Michael David Smith on September 26, 2008, 2:24 p.m. EDT
Steelers (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/09/26/mendenhall-talks-trash-in-text/#) rookie running back Rashard Mendenhall and Ravens rookie running back Ray Rice are friends. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Mendenhall engaged in some good-natured boasting to Rice about the kind of game he thinks he’s going to have on Monday night when the Steelers play the Ravens.
It should also come as no surprise that Rice passed along the boasting to his defensive teammates, who weren’t amused.
Mendenhall told Rice via text message (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/09/26/mendenhall-talks-trash-in-text/#) that he’s going to have a big game. Rice passed that message along to linebacker Bart Scott, a man not known for brushing off perceived slights.
“He said later that he was just joking, but it’s too late (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3610947),” Scott said. “Thanks for the bulletin-board material, rookie.”
Mendenhall, who has 10 carries for 28 yards in limited action this season, will start in place of the injured Willie Parker. Rice has 27 carries for 85 yards so far this season.
Mendenhall was going to have a tough day anyway against Balt's D... but now... Ouch!

Ok now I'm not so sure about my Pittsburgh pick:

Mendenhall, the first-round pick from Illinois, whose first career start will come against the Ravens on "Monday Night Football," recently sent a text message to friend and Ravens rookie tailback Ray Rice saying he's going to have a big game against the NFL's top-ranked defense.

Obviously, Rice, who often praises the Ravens' defense as "scary," passed the text message along to his teammates, who are not taking Mendenhall's proclamation lightly.

"He said later that he was just joking, but it's too late,'' Ravens linebacker Bart Scott said. "Thanks for the bulletin-board material, rookie."

Now only am I not sure about Pittsburgh winning, I fear for Mendenhall's health lol.

Man, WHAT the **** is this **** ????

While sidelined with an ankle injury, Sanders has knee surgery.

At 1-2, the Colts aren't off to the start they would like — not even close. This news isn't going to help.

All-Pro safety Bob Sanders, already sidelined for 4-6 weeks with a high ankle sprain, recently underwent arthroscopic surgery on one of his knees.

Indianapolis owner Jim Irsay explained the decision to the Indianapolis Star.

"The feeling was the high ankle sprain would take longer (to recover from) than the scope,'' Irsay told the Star. "I think they just cleaned out a few things (in the knee).''

It was not immediately clear on which knee the surgery was performed.

Sanders, the 2007 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, is in the first year of a five-year, $37.5 million contract that includes $20 million in guaranteed money.

"I knew when we did the contract that he's such a rare talent that you have to live a little bit with the possible injuries that come up,'' Irsay told the Star. "Bob is so combustible, so physical. He's so dynamic and such a rare individual.

"It's something you knew (was possible), but you know he might get on a lucky streak and go a year or two without having anything.''

That's old news, they mentioned about it when Bob Sanders first got the injury saying he'd probably get his knee scoped while he was out. Like they said, it's not going to add to the recovery time.

Of course it isn't the greatest statement on your health when you use a beginning of the year injury as an "opportunity" to have additional surgery lol.

McCarthy: Harris will miss at least three to four weeks

Associated Press
GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The outlook for injured Green Bay Packers (http://www.nfl.com/teams/greenbaypackers/profile?team=GB) cornerback Al Harris is encouraging.

Packers coach Mike McCarthy said Friday that Harris, who suffered a serious spleen injury Sunday night, could return to the team before the midpoint of the season.

"I would say it's going to be at least three to four weeks," McCarthy said of a timetable for when Harris might be ready to return to the field.
Harris has been ruled out for Sunday, when the Packers will play at Tampa Bay, putting an end to a streak of 83 straight starts since Green Bay

acquired him in a trade with Philadelphia in 2003.
Harris' injury occurred in the first quarter of the Packers' loss to Dallas when he collided with linebacker A.J. Hawk (http://www.nfl.com/players/a.j.hawk/profile?id=HAW076822) on a running play. Harris left the game but returned two plays later.

He left the game for good, however, after tackling Cowboys running back Marion Barber. Harris went to the locker room in the second quarter with what team officials described as cramping.

McCarthy said after the game that Harris had blood in his urine and was not allowed to return by the team's medical staff.

Initial fears that Harris would miss the rest of the season and his playing career could be in jeopardy were tempered earlier this week. Harris underwent tests and sought multiple opinions from specialists.
McCarthy said Friday it was his understanding Harris' spleen wouldn't need to be surgically removed.

"Injuries like this go back to a personal nature," McCarthy said. "You're just glad it's not anything that could be life-threatening or as serious as it possibly could be."

Instead, Harris will have a chance to let the spleen heal on its own.
"The thing that we know for sure is we've had to totally shut him down for seven days," McCarthy said. "So, he'll start probably Monday morning with some form of conditioning, and it'll just progress as we move forward. There will be some tests that are done along the way. I don't have an exact time frame for you."

Teammates welcomed the news that Harris could be playing again soon.
"Oh, that's a break because Al brings so much to the defense," safety Atari Bigby (http://www.nfl.com/players/ataribigby/profile?id=BIG264860) said. "He's a lockdown corner. So, anytime you have a corner like that in the game, it definitely takes the pressure off of everybody else."
Bigby spoke with Harris a day after he sustained the injury. Bigby said Harris had mixed emotions.

"Of course he doesn't want to be out, but he felt like he's not going to be out the whole season," Bigby said. "He feels good. He knows his body. So, hopefully, he's not out the whole season."

The Packers will try to compensate for the absence of Harris, who was selected to the Pro Bowl for the first time last season, with a trio of young players.

Tramon Williams (http://www.nfl.com/players/tramonwilliams/profile?id=WIL545231) will start Sunday opposite veteran cornerback Charles Woodson (http://www.nfl.com/players/charleswoodson/profile?id=WOO661523). Will Blackmon (http://www.nfl.com/players/willblackmon/profile?id=BLA309190) will assume Williams' former spot at nickel back.
Pat Lee (http://www.nfl.com/players/patlee/profile?id=LEE547335), a second-round draft pick this year, likely will be activated for the first time to serve as the dime back.

"You don't ever want to have players injured, especially you don't want to have your star players injured. But it's also part of the game," McCarthy said.

"It's important for the younger players to realize they have an opportunity. They've had their opportunity to learn from two veterans that have played a lot of football, that play that style of football very effectively. It's their time to put it to use because we need them as a team to perform."
Following a course of action the previous two weeks, Woodson didn't practice the entire week to rest a broken right toe. He is probable to play Sunday.

McCarthy said Woodson's insistence on playing every week with the injury, which he suffered in the Sept. 8 opener, interferes with the healing process.

"As far as the bone improving, it's obviously going to take a lot longer than a normal fracture because he keeps playing on it," McCarthy said. "I don't know if he's staying about the same or slightly improving, but I know he's really uncomfortable (after a game) until at least Wednesday."
Besides Harris, the Packers also are expected to be without Bigby on Sunday. He is listed as doubtful on the injury report.

Bigby didn't practice this week as he recovers from a left hamstring injury that kept him out of the previous game.
"It's disappointing. I'm a safety, and I love to play the game," Bigby said. "Whenever I can't play, I'm feeling pretty down."

Aaron Rouse (http://www.nfl.com/players/aaronrouse/profile?id=ROU320232) is set to start again in Bigby's place.
Nick Collins (http://www.nfl.com/players/nickcollins/profile?id=COL653692), the Packers' other starting safety, is probable for Sunday after he left the last game with a bruised back.

OMG, HOLY MARY MOTHER OF GOD!

John Elway to Marry Former Raiderette

http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/nfl.fanhouse.com/media/2008/09/elway-jeff-gentner.jpg

Denver Broncos legend John Elway will reportedly marry former Oakland Raider cheerleader Paige Green.

Denver media reported Friday that the two-time Super Bowl winner proposed to 41-year-old Paige Green during a trip to Italy last week.

Elway told the Rocky Mountain News he was "looking forward to a long life together" with Green.

A telephone message left by The Associated Press with Elway's secretary wasn't immediately returned.

Elway divorced his wife of 18 years, Janet, in 2003. They had four children together (all are now adults).

He met Paige Green at a celebrity golf tournament held by former Raider legend Marcus Allen back in 2005. Elway, 48, reportedly proposed to Green, 41, during a trip to Italy last week. No date has been set for the wedding.

Since Green's Raiderette days, she has made a career out of acting in movies you've never seen.

In a more positive note, what games are you guys looking forward to the most tomorrow? For me, it's:

Vikings vs Titans: Good defensive effort, and Gus will give my Titans some interceptions because both Chester and A.P have some sort of injury bothering them at the moment.

Jags vs Texans: Andre Johnson better catch some **** balls. It should be nice watching the Jags destroy them, especially sense Matt Shuab is NOT having a good year. (Hint* he has the same amount of interceptions as Jon *hitna)

Bengals vs Browns: Both can't play defense AT ALL this year, so expect a lower-end version of that 50 something 40 something game they had a year or two ago.

My question for you all:

Do you enjoy watching one team totally destroy the other, two high-octane offenses going at it, or a defensive struggle with a whole-lota runnin'?

I enjoy destroys when it is my team destroying, or it helps my team. Other than that, high scoring games are over-rated. It's not a good game just because it's 43-42, but that's what short attention spans like I suppose. I guess I'm only school, I like when every point is hard earned, not bomb, blown coverage TD's back and forth.

I like defensive struggles because it's harder to tell who's going to break. High scoring games on both ends is fun from a fan's perspective, but there's nothing like the intensity of a defensive game. I thoroughly enjoyed that PHI-DAL game but like I said it couldn't match the intensity of a defensive game.

My game of the week:
MIN @ TEN. I was watching a show on NFL Network and they were talking about how both teams are almost carbon copies. They both have great Running games, They both have a monsterous rush defense. They're both starting backup QBs with unproven WRs. Only difference in my opinion is the Pass Defense on Tennessee is better.

Lol but it's not like he doesn't provide. I can say 3 games where he didn't come through. Most of them weren't even his fault but he picked up the slack anyway.

Just heard that Carson Palmer WON'T START. It's gonna be that guy from havard instead. This could screw a lot of fantasy people.

Oh it screwed me BIG time. He was gonna destroy that Cleveland D. I gotta start Favre against the underrated Cardinals defense.....

Underrated? They're 5th in the NFL for points allowed per game. I see Favre having a bad day today.

lol well you gotta bite the bullet sometimes. I wouldn't get counted out yet. Yahoo expects me to win by 13 points

I wouldn't have known because people don't talk about them. They pretty much fly under the radar. That's where I got underrated from but obviously they aren't.
unheralded better suits them

Sure they're ranked pretty well in defense statistics, but I think we're talking about the word of mouth or clout that a team carries. Commentators never talk about their defense, and as a result I don't know the name of a single person on their defense. I think this might be mainly an issue of their small market. They're basically the equivalent of a non-BCS team lol.

EDIT: Just checked my matchup and the guy has a someone with a bye in the lineup. God it's going to suck if I lose to him.

DayWalker. This game, it burns my eyes. I was expecting a HUGE blowout, but f-ing B Marsh and my baby Royal messed it up big time with their two fumbles. It honestly hurts to watch it.

Geez, the Bucs are about to hand the Pack a W. 3 Interceptions in the 2nd half. If my Lions are to make a run and turn the season around, the Bucs can't be doing **** like this! And the Vikings are losing as well.

The Broncos have 4 effing turnovers. They need to TURN UP THE HEAT!

Oh baby...where you at Daywalker? C'mon in here and get your medicine. How about those scrubby Chiefs laying the smackdown on your donkeys? Strong work by your MVP...especially since we were starting two rookie corners. Whooooo! What a game!

I'm glad to see our defense showing up...gives me a little hope that this team may have a future. We are young, we just need to find a quarterback. Shanahan now moves his record to 3-11 in Arrowhead...ahaha!

Ahhh, that was impressive. If we would have had that onside kick like we should've, there would have been a completely different end to the game. Either that, or the ability to score an effing touchdown.
