Wow Chris Henry dies this morning.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4750615

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say Cincinnati Bengals (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=cin) receiver Chris Henry (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=8497) has died, one day after suffering serious injuries upon falling out of the back of a pickup truck in what authorities describe as a domestic dispute with his fiancee.
Police say Henry died at 6:36 a.m. Thursday. Henry was 26.
Away from the team because of a broken forearm, Henry was rushed to the hospital Wednesday after being found on a residential road. Police say a dispute began at a home about a half-mile away, and Henry jumped into the bed of the truck as his fiancee was driving away from the residence.
Police said at some point when she was driving, Henry "came out of the back of the vehicle."

I was looking at Chris Johnsons wiki page and seriously pay da man!

"On July 26, he signed a five-year, $12 million contract with $7 million guaranteed.[9]"

:O Seriously how was McFadden taken before the fastest RB in NFL history (well fastest ever recorded on a digital counter)?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Johnson_(running_back)

"Prior to the NFL Scouting Combine, Johnson was projected a second to third round draft pick.[4] However, at the combine he registered a 4.24-second time, which essentially assured him a spot in the first round and tied the all-time mark set by Rondel Melendez, a wide receiver from Eastern Kentucky, in 1999—the first year the combine used electronic timers.[5] This time was the fastest ever recorded for a running back.[6] Johnson was also fourth highest among running backs in the vertical jump with a 35-inch jump. His 10-foot, 10-inch broad jump was third best among the running backs.[7]

Well that really says something about how bad the Scouts are at judging talent.

Out of the 6 leagues I went to the playoffs in 3 of them and won the first round in all of them :) I am still interested in seeing how it goes from 4 to 8...

On the topic of Fantasy football, What is the total points you scored? In my best league I scored 1664.0 points (its not a points per reception/rush league, (not counting the first round of the playoff)) I would of scored more if Brown didn't get hurt :(

DeSean Jackson is gonna shatter alot of NFL records if he can stay healthy and out of trouble.
The kid is electrifying. He makes it look so easy. He almost always has a safety over the top of him (along with a CB), yet he still manages to get behind both. It'll be interesting to see how well he does against Champ Bailey this week. Bailey will most likely shadow him for most of the game.

I'll be at the game this weekend with my Dawkins jersey. It's going to be weird seeing Dawk on the opposing side. :(

Breaking news!

Holmgren agrees to join Browns as team president

BEREA, Ohio -- Mike Holmgren has decided to see if he can fix the Cleveland Browns.

The Super Bowl-winning coach accepted a job to become the club's president on Monday, joining a franchise needing a major makeover after a decade of losing.

Browns owner Randy Lerner said the sides reached an agreement on Monday. Lerner said current president Mike Keenan will transition to the role of chief financial officer.

"We will spend the rest of the week finalizing the details of the agreement and will make a formal announcement next week," Lerner said in a statement.

Holmgren is coming to Cleveland strictly in an executive role. On his radio show last week, Holmgren indicated his job offer with the Browns could include a return to the sideline. But Holmgren's duties likely will focus on personnel decisions, and there's a chance he may bring in a general manager to help him.

It's still not known what effect Holmgren's hiring will have on first-year Cleveland coach Eric Mangini, who improved to 3-11 on Sunday following a 41-34 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. Mangini may have strengthened his chances of staying for at least another year after leading the Browns to consecutive wins.

Holmgren, though, could choose to replace Mangini with his own coach to try and turn around the Browns, who have lost at least 10 games in six of the past seven seasons and made the AFC playoffs just once since 1999.

On Saturday, the 61-year-old Holmgren turned down a front-office position to return to the Seattle Seahawks, sparking speculation that he was headed to Cleveland.

Holmgren said he was intrigued by the opportunity to join Cleveland because of the absence of "layers" between him and Lerner, who in November announced he was looking to add a "serious, credible leader" to his organization. Holmgren spent two days meeting with Lerner last week and came away impressed by the owner's passion to win and what he learned about the Browns.

Holmgren stepped down as the Seahawks coach after last season to spend more time with his family. However, the chance to rebuild another franchise was too much for him to resist and he's stepping out of semi-retirement to take on the Browns, who have desperately needed someone of his renown for years.

For the Ravens, mentally it would strengthen them.Regardless of how the Steelers have been playing, they are still a great team and have swept the Ravens the last 3 games they played when Ben was int he game.It would be a HUGE confidence boost for the Ravens to do what they could not do last season.Let's not forget that this is one of the biggest rivalries in the NFL today so it's always playoff atmosphere when these two teams meet.

If Brees is 1, why isn't he getting the MVP this year?

Brees will get the MVP this year -- or it'll be split like in '04. Don't kid yourself man.

Brees has thrown for as many touchdowns, less INTs, higher Comp %, Higher QB RTG, more 20+ yard throws, more 40+ yard throws, higher 1st Down %, more yard per attempt and has thrown the ball like 70+ fewer times than Manning.

Brees is by far and large the best statistical QB this season and will win the MVP or at least share the award.

This is the NFL, not College Football. Your entire season and accomplishments aren't based around if you lose ONE game or not.

The facts speak for themselves. Brees is statistically better than Peyton in every major category of the game. He took an 8-8 team and they've broken franchise records for points and wins in a single season.

It won't matter if Peyton goes 16-0 or not. Brees will either win the award outright or it'll be split.

To even think otherwise is illogical beyond belief.

I'm right though.

Colts wouldn't have the last ranked rushing game if they didn't decide to throw the football 40 times a game (more than any other team in the league).

Peyton also wouldn't need SEVEN fourth quarter comebacks if he had played better in the first three quarters of the game either (once again -- something that hasn't plagued Drew Brees all season).

The Eagles average more points a game than the Colts as well, lol.

Who has the higher ranked defense, Brees or Manning? Peyton Manning.

Whose team has seen the bigger turnaround? Brees.

Austin Collie wouldn't even rank in the Top 3 Rookie WR performances this season for me. I'd take Percy Harvin, Jeremy Maclin and Kenny Britt over Collie.

Collie plays the slot the majority of the time going against the third best DB on the opposite side of the field -- sometimes even linebackers, lol. Britt, Maclin, Harvin ALL line up the majority of the time as the #2 guy and therefore draw more coverage and have safeties rolled over to their side more frequently. Especially Harvin/Maclin due to their speed.

Must be real tough playing the slot spot.

Welker plays the 2-spot since he's a starter and migrates to the slot in specific situations.

Collie plays the slot as the 3-spot the majority of the time.

You're right. So why would it go to the guy with the glittery statistics? They should just give it to Johnson, he's about to hit 2,000 yards!

The guy with the league's dead last rushing game and most 4th Q comebacks in a season is more valuable. Heck he's making Collie look like the best WR of the entire draft. We'll see.

I'm right though.

Its a QB driven league. Unless Johnson break the rushing record (Which he most likely wont) he wont even be close to winning and thats not counting the fact that the Titans are not even going to make the playoffs this year.

Edit: Remember how Brees threw for 5000 yard+ and came 16 yards away from tieing/breaking the record and he didn't win the MVP because his team was 8-8, same thing is going to happen to Johnson.

Really? I thought statistics didn't matter?

Make up your mind on what you'd like to qualify when it comes to deciding the best players.

Must be nice to just use different measures depending on what your argument stance is -- this is why your football debates are always garbage. They're so skewed it makes a Brazilian churrascaria meat house look small in comparison.

Collie is 7th in yards per game and 11th in yards per catch (Only qualifying WRs over 30 receptions on the season).

Must be nice to catch a ton of slant routes from the slot. Freddie Mitchell did that for awhile too, lol.

Collie is the product of a system revolving around Dallas Clark and Reggie Wayne allowing him to maneuver inside against mediocre linebackers and mediocre defensive backs.

Take off the glasses. There is a reason Collie isn't starting while guys like Britt, Harvin, Maclin and even Crabtree are.

Collie wouldn't be starting on three of those teams -- the 49ers are so desperate though, they may start him.

Yeah, dude is running some monster routes...

Like I said -- Any schmuck can run short routes (slants/curls/square ins(outs)) out of the slot...

LOL Some More... here is another monster double move to the outside then cut inside SLANT, LOL.

YouTube- Touchdown Austin Collie at Rams

Does this guy run anything outside of 5-10 yards with the exception of 3-4 catches out of the 53 he has? LOL

I can't find a YouTube video of Collie's TD against the Titans, but it's a 8-10 yard slant to the middle of the end zone, lol.

Collie -- Running slants like Freddie Mitchell.

I'm waiting for Manning to retire in 2 years, so we can all watch the Colts offense drop to the bottom third in the league along with its defense.

The Colts have absolutely no backup plan at QB and the chances of them drafting another Manning (A QB capable of making sub-par players like Garcon and Collie look good) is pretty small.

Good luck with that -- you'll be back to the 90's all over again... Enjoy it (though I doubt you were a fan in the 90's when the team was terrible...you probably piggy-backed onto the Colts around 2001 or so).

12-27-2009, 07:29
He still has lots of years left, they'll have like 4 seasons at least with him unless something seriously goes wrong. They should still draft a QB in the next two years so he can get a couple years of EXP behind Manning something like what Greenbay did with Rodgers.
