It's pick your poison with him. You give him time, he'll pick you apart. You blitz him, he'll find his hot read. The Colts just have the Ravens' number.

Sorry for the obscene comments. I'll be sure to refrain from criticizing Teflon Don in the future.
I'm just disappointed all around. Receivers were dropping balls, we were committing stupid penalties, the DBs played like ****. I almost kicked the wall in when Ed Reed intercepted the ball TWICE for nothing.

Next year will be a tough year if we don't improve on the defensive side (mainly with the DBs). We also need some new receivers, since I have a feeling this may have been Mason's last year.

Well...Well...Well! My Ravens were once again ousted as frauds by the Colts. Funny how times change over the course of one week. Love that ED Reed still doesn't know when to fold. If Mark Clayton is...

It doesn't matter, they never get selected, there isn't one special teams player in the hall of fame.

Edit: Well there is one Kicker. It's still extremely hard to get into the hall of fame as a kicker as they are nearly never selected.

Well ya, but its epically hard to get into the NFL HOF as just a kicker. Its been what 19 years and we still don't have any other kicker in there.

IMO The only I'd say Sebastian Janikowski (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sebastian_Janikowski) should get in when he retires, I've yet to see someone with that kind of power in his leg.

Vinatieri might be a better kicker from 50+ yards, but he is not a better kicker overall. You can't judge players based on only one statistic.

That would be like judging a QB based solely on how many completions over 50 yards they have.

Peyton Manning could throw for 4500 yards with a 75% completion percentage, but only have 2 passes over 50 yards.

Joe Flacco could throw for 2500 yards with a 60% completion percentage, but have 10 passes over 50 yards.

Joe Flacco is the better QB in that one category, but Peyton Manning is better overall.

See how that works?

Overall he's 1.7% less accurate (which is not a lot), I'd take that kind of hit when my kicker can hit from 50+ 4% better and from 40-49 11% better. And he is uber clutch kicker he holds like every playoff record.

NFL records
Most postseason field goals in a career, with 40, set during the 2006 season, surpassing Gary Anderson's previous record of 34
Most consecutive games in a single postseason with 3+ field goals: 4
Most points in postseason, career: 167
Most field goals in a single postseason: 14
Most Field Goals Lifetime in Super Bowl: 7
Most Extra Points (One Point) Lifetime in Super Bowl: 13
Total points in a single postseason: 49 in 2006 (surpassing Terrell Davis' previous record of 48)
Most Field Goals in a single NFL postseason game: 5 (tied with six others); achieved twice, with the Patriots vs. the Colts in the 2003-04 AFC Championship, and with the Colts vs. the Baltimore Ravens in 2006

Why? The majority of field goals aren't attempted from 45+ yards. I'd rather have a deadly accurate kicker from inside 40 yards, since that's where the majority of field goals are attempted anyway.

Career FG% 85.9
Career extra points 173/174 (only miss in his first year)
never missed a FG inside 30 yards in 5 years
Third most accurate kicker in the history of the NFL

and he's on the Bears.

Obviously not the best kicker ever, but he's VERY good and if he continues to play at his current level he'll go down as one of the greatest. His weak point is his range is basically 50 yards. But, I'd take a kicker who's deadly accurate inside 50 over and guy that can kick longer but is less accurate.

I won't be a Fraudbaugh supporter until he understand that Chris Carr nor Frank Walker are viable starting corners in the NFL. I also will not pay him any mind until he understands that Mark Clayton is also a fraud. He needs to know that you can't burn timeouts like they're made on trees. And lastly, I won't follow him until he proves to me he's a real Head Coach.

ED Reed is playing with serious nerve damage in his neck. If he had the surgery, it would force him to retire and he's been playing with this for like 3 years now. But for Reed, and possibly Ray and Mason to retire in one season would be a major blow.

If that happens, and we somehow make the playoffs next year, then I'll be 100% behind Harbaugh. I have a feeling next year is going to be a pretty long year. We need to fill a lot of different positions (CB, WR, and possible S).

That really does suck but if he is injured all the time, maybe it is time for him to retire. He had his run. One of the best Safeties in the NFL. It will be a sad day for Ravens fans when Reed and Lewis retire. Two of the best players the NFL has seen.

He is also my favorite player but when you get old and you are injured a lot, you mine as well end it instead of having a career ending injury. Going out on your own terms could be a lot better than a injury related retire.Reed and Lewis are two of the best defensive players the game has ever seen (even though Reed still doesn't know how to hold a football while running ;)).

The Ravens couldn't catch a break last night. They had a great season and they destroyed the Pats in the first round so I am happy. Hope Reed comes back but I understand if he didn't. The Ravens really need a number 1 WR and a top tier CB.

Congrats to Indy!!
If we only get one new player in the offseason this year, it has to be a decent CB.

I think we can pick him up since we were all in the final 8. Can't remember all that went into that rule. Not sure how old he is but I'm sure he is under 30. He's been in the NFL for I think 5 seasons.

The rule will restrict the final eight teams in the playoffs from signing free agents. The final four teams shall not be permitted to negotiate and sign any unrestricted free agent to a player contract except for players who acquired their status by being cut or were on the final four team when their contract expired. Playoff teams five thru eight get a break to sign one player with a salary of $4,925,000 or more and any number of players with a first-year salary of no more than $3,275,000 and an annual increase of no more than 30 percent in the following years.

There is a mechanism to permit the final eight teams to sign an unrestricted free agent for each one of their own unrestricted free agents who sign with another club as long as they don't spend more than what their own lost player received from his new club.

For all practical purposes, free agency will not have any teeth in 2010 and close to 200 players hoping to hit a big pay day will have to wait at least a year and risk injury.

Sad to say but our defense was just as good with Zbikowski playing in place of Reed during the season. Reed does make big plays and he is an impact player but he's usually caught out of position to do his free roaming. Zbikowski stayed where he should have been and mid season the defense was getting better.

Yep, it seems Nakamura and Zbikowski are real solid contributors on D. If Reed indeed retires this year, I have no doubts that either of them could at least fill in adequately, especially now Landry is on form again.

Yep, won't be one like him for a while.

Would like to see more 3 safety/3 LB sets for those not-so-obvious run/pass situations on 3rd down (3rd and 5 sort of downs) - the extra safety help would be good, but these guys can also play the run pretty solidly.

We just need some sold CB. Webb was playing very well before his injury and Foxworth stepped it up when Webb got hurt. If we can add another solid CB we should be good in the secondary even if Reed does retire.

Reed hasn't been playing like Reed since his neck injury, he shows flashes of what he used to do but he's not the same. I still hope he comes back, offenses scheme away from Reed.

With our need at WR, I dunno if we can even find a good FA CB. Unless we find another gem in the draft (a la Webb) that can contribute right away.

Though I'm not sure how deep the draft or if we can even pick up a CB (if there are any) if we pick up someone like Vincent Jackson.

No they didn't. The Ravens self destructed. Every time they made a big play they turned the ball over (Reed INT and Ray Rice's big run) or it got called back because of penalties (Ed reed 2ed INT and a couple big runs and a big kick off return). If they played more discipled (they had 4 turnovers) they would of won or at least would of been a really close game.

Dallas just had the Eagles' number this year (it hurts admitting that). The first game was competitive, but the last two games were just embarrassing. The Eagles didn't even make it much of a contest. It was gratifying seeing Minnesota demolish the girls, though. That DL completely abused the Cowboys OL.

I'm rooting for the Vikes to win it all because of Brad Childress and Leslie Frazier. Both were terrific assistants with the Eagles so I don't mind rooting for them. The league better wake up! Leslie Frazier can coach defense. Someone better hire him as a HC!

Edit: Article and Source

Broncos, Nolan split; Dolphins interested in defensive coordinator
The Denver Broncos and defensive coordinator Mike Nolan agreed to part ways Monday, and a league source told NFL Network's Jason La Canfora that the veteran coach has a very good chance of joining the Miami Dolphins.

NFL.com's Steve Wyche reported that the Dolphins asked the Broncos for permission to speak to Nolan, but it isn't known if that call caused the split. Nolan told The Denver Post only that he and the Broncos had "mutually agreed to part ways," and a team-issued statement echoed that sentiment.

La Canfora's source said the Dolphins already have scheduled an interview with Nolan. They have been seeking a replacement for former defensive coordinator Paul Pasqualoni, whom they fired after the season.

A source with knowledge of the situation in Denver also told La Canfora that several teams had contacted the Broncos seeking permission to speak to Nolan. The Chicago Bears and New England Patriots are looking for defensive coordinators, too.

Nolan was credited with improving the Broncos' defense, which went from 29th in the NFL in 2008 to seventh this season under his tutelage. He's considered one of the best teachers and schemers of the 3-4 defense, which the Dolphins also run.

Nolan previously served as the defensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens (2002-04), New York Jets (2000), Washington Redskins (1997-99) and New York Giants (1993-96). He started his NFL career with the Broncos as the special teams and linebackers coach under Dan Reeves from 1987 to 1992.

Nolan was 18-37 in three-plus seasons as the San Francisco 49ers' coach before he was fired seven games into the 2008 campaign.

Nolan becomes the third member of coach Josh McDaniels' inaugural staff to depart Denver following a disappointing 8-8 season. Offensive line coach Rick Dennison left for the Houston Texans' staff, and longtime running backs coach Bobby Turner was reunited with Mike Shanahan in Washington. Both Dennison and Turner were holdovers from the Shanahan era.

The Broncos intend to interview outside candidates to replace Nolan rather than promote from within, La Canfora reported, citing a source. Dean Pees, who has strong ties to McDaniels from their New England days, recently decided not to seek a new contract from the Patriots and is a favorite to land the position in Denver.

Whoever replaces Nolan will be the Broncos' fifth defensive coordinator in a five-season span.

After being fired by 49ers, Nolan tried his hand in broadcasting but found himself wanting to return to coaching. Then McDaniels came calling, offering Nolan a chance to turn around a Denver defense that had slid under Shanahan.

Known as a defensive wizard, Nolan jumped at the challenge. He holed up in his office last offseason as he installed a new look and shuffled personnel. The Broncos tried to give Nolan the pieces, bringing in perennial Pro Bowl safety Brian Dawkins to serve as a leader and add a swagger that had been missing.

One of the biggest beneficiaries of Nolan's system was defensive end/linebacker Elvis Dumervil, who was able to use his long arms and low center of gravity off the edge of the line. Dumervil turned in a Pro Bowl season, finishing with an NFL-leading and team-record 17 sacks.

The Broncos started the season 6-0 and were the talk of the league. Then they went into a free fall, losing eight of their next 10 games to miss the playoffs for a fourth consecutive year.

The Broncos' defense allowed a season-high 44 points and 524 yards in a season-ending loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
