FIRST THREAD!!!!
ok about 2 months ago i was forced to sell my x360 due to horrible grades 4f's and 2 d's. when i had my x360 i was in one of the top halo clans, i hit first place in saints row, gears of war and quake 4. i actually won tournaments and got a best buy gift card.
i am a serios gamer and was wondering if the ps3 has a very competitie online community or not?
i have $300 and my birthday is VERY VERY soon. so i want to know if i should just buy an x360 again or a ps3 cause the online will make or break the deal

Honestly, right now the xbox has a better online community. ( more people have xbox and stuff)
However, Resistance fall of man has a crazy sick online mode. ( up to 40 players, deathmatch, team deathmatch, breach, meltdown, conversion, ranks, all kinds of stats, etc. )
It ultimate depends on if u want to play gears of war and eventually halo3 or if u want to be able to play resistance fall of man and later killzone, etc.

guys i am torn up on this cause ya know i got credibility on the x360 and i literally had fan boys, but i love ps3 games. if i get a ps3 some guys on this site are going to have to show me the ropes

socom 4 will blow anything on the xbox out of the water
and think about all the tournies they run on there in the past (www.eseals.com (http://www.eseals.com)) (i think that's the address) lots of stuff on there, they're have been tournies in the past and if you check out a clan i was previously affliated in a few ways with they are part of a few major gaming tourny competitions (www.sotg.us (http://www.sotg.us))
massive tournies with koreans and everything

ohhh i love socom i totally forgot about that game. yea i am gonna get a ps3 and hopefully get fanboys again and join an AMAZING CLAN. i will buy the $500 one cause i don't need wireless and am not interested in demos. and i hope alot of fast paced shooters will be coming out like pain killer or quake4

20gb is still a lot for demos
i have a 60gb and have only used about 10gb so far with demos and pics/movies/music
In the long run you can't go wrong with a ps3 anyway you look at it... hope to see you in game.

sort of off topic, but does anyone expect CS:S to come out shortly after Half Life 2: Episode 2? I used to play it on PC but my video card is near dead and I haven't been able to play for a while. Again sorry for going off topic, but j_bone's avatar reminded me of the good old days.. hehe

i would save up the extra 100$ and get the 60GB. Getting the 20GB is one of those things that you will probably regret not paying the extra money to get the better model. Of course if you don't need/want any of the extra stuff you get with the 60GB get the 20 :)

Man your parents are pretty harsh making you seel your X-box. At the moment x-box is better. But in a few months when europe has its share im sure you'll get a more lively community.

the ps3 has some good gamers but the great ones to come are still on the ps2 b/c they couldnt find a ps3 since you kno there some what hard to get....b/c i play Socom Combined Assult on my ps3 for my clan Team Merk and they are very big time gamers and are very ellite and origanzied and they are also located in halo 2, Gears Of War, And Every Socom Seirse so maybe in a few months there will be (www.TeamMerk.com (http://www.TeamMerk.com)) if you wanna see what i mean about us...

I love ps3 and sold my xbox when I got it, but if you like fps's stick with the 360 that's the only type of game they even make for it right?
its worth it.
If you want shooters, get Resistance.... in my opinion, one of the best online games i've played (40 player games and other stuff already mentioned)
If you want racing games, Formula 1 and MotorStorm, really fun to play.
And there's also Gran Turismo HD, you can download it and try to set new records.
Sports, well... we all know the games.. so that's pretty much the same.
The best part is the future though, some of the problems will be fixed and new games are coming out... Warhawk, Killzone 2, Gran Turismo 5, GTA IV (its supposed to have online mode, not official yet), Saint's Row is coming out, so if you wanna play it again, you can.

I have been playing online on the 360 for a while and just recently go a ps3. The ps3 onlione is much better than I thought it would be and resistance is alot of fun, kinda reminds me of a mix between cod2 and halo2..I play both systems equally so I don't know what I would choose..
I have been keeping my eye on Warhawk since the first trailer we saw at E3 2005. I wasn't hyped about it though until the newest interview/video on it. After seeing that video, I'm sure this will be the ultimate PS3 competitive online game for a while to come. It looks absolutely fantastic. It's kinda like Battlefield series from PC because you have air and ground combat, which not many games seem to do, or even do well for that matter. Warhawk definitely looks like a winner.
Resistance is fun online too, and very competitive. Deep ranking system and such will keep you going for quite some time. Motorstorm will be in everyone's hands by tomorrow as well and that should be great fun online! Get a ps3 for sure, enjoy it. You can always get another 360 some other time.
yea warhawk was great, but i want to get ridgeracer 7 i got over 500 online wins in rr6 in my opinion best arcade racer ever made

I am still thinking about trading in NBA2K7 and Madden 2007 for RR7. I never play them anymore, but not sure if RR7 is worth it or not.

Not sure what he meant unless he's referring to it now being a download and only online multiplayer. Maybe he thought it was great before that news was released.

Warhawk is more of a multiplayer game than single player from what I hear. PSN is still new so it will take time before it gets alot more people mainly the price of the system is whats holding people back from buying it (PS3). It didnt hold me back I knew I was going to get a ps3 reguardless I love MGS!

If your rolling in the dough i would get the 360 and then get the ps3 in like 6 months. If you dont have enoguh money coming in to do that i would get the ps3 now.

Yes it is competitive, my friend that is a die hard xbox live fan said playstation live is identical to xbox live when he played my ps3. The only problem is liek i said its not all there yet.
If i were you id just get a ps3 while you have the money, if you still have a want for a 360 then its cheaper and a easier goal to acheive.
Also if you join you have to be in my clan lol, we are a rising clan. The better guys teacher the newer and not so good guys to become better. Heck i was the best a few weeks ago and now some of my teamates tell me tricks and tips lol.
@ soldier one i have heard about your clan and i wanna join. but in the summer i have enlisted into a split basic training in the army so i will not be home for 2 months in the summer then i am gonna finish my senior year.
